How true. You have hit the nail on the head. Wisdom is the word of the day. Another word my late mother used often was GUMPTION!
Yes, you should be made president so that we can sleep well at night!

“Never buy cheap junk, it will cost you more in the long run.” Was what my wife always preached right up until she passed away.

‘ nothing hurts a man more than to see his friends prosper”.
That doesn’t sound like a Jefferson quote. I’ve read Jefferson books and many quotes by him. That doesn’t sound like him and you should take it down. I’ve been unable to find any other reference claiming this was said by him and nowhere do I see a citation. You’re misleading people. I will block future videos from your channel. Thanks.

Grandpa also had a ittle word from time like this; "The hurrider we go the behinder we get, my son" Then here's a good one for Kamala Harris. "You can FOOL ALL the people SOME of the time, and SOME of the people ALL the time, but NEVER ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME!" Abe. Lincoln

@@maartenvanderzwan8281 It's 'what you _will_ not,' not 'what you _can_ not.'
Both of those are such powerful pieces of wisdom! The first one about not asking others to do what you wouldn’t do yourself speaks volumes about integrity and leadership. Leading by example is always the best way.
And the second quote really highlights the value of thoughtful communication-knowing when to speak and when to stay silent is a true mark of wisdom. There's so much to be gained by speaking with purpose, rather than just filling the silence. 😊

Safety and success starts with ones self!
I appreciate his take on buying Cheap stuff. William James said it best, when reflecting on spending money, on Quality goods! "The Quality Remains Long After The Cost is Forgotten" ;-)
I learnt this the hard way.😢
Missed an important one: "It matters not to me whether a person believes in one God or many gods. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." He wrote this in a letter to a Baptist Church congregation regarding the separation of church and state. I may have missed a word or two, but that's essentially what he wrote to them when the pastor queried him about the subject.
A pretty good remembrance! Thank you.

Very intelligent quotes.
Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from behind, or a fool from any direction
I completely disagree with the one that says,"nothing hurts a man more than to see his friends prosper". I am overjoyed to see my friends prosper. It would be a sorry excuse for a man that feels otherwise.
Thank you!
Well stated. Jealousy is sad.
May be ‘hurt’ used in a lighter sense only, like what’s wrong with me … my friends r in the right way but not me( fact check) ! Otherwise it’s incorrect
That was a misquote. Thomas Jefferson wrote wonderful things about his any friends including how they were the balm of his soul.
I agree with you; "I'm over enjoyed to see my friends Prosper." Too. I believe the meaning of the above quote is: One is hurt by his friends prosperity when he or she is not part of the prosperity. not that their freind is properious; not that it anger or saddens them . I think most are happy to see others prosper.
"Equal rights for all, special privileges for none."

I do believe, the generations governing our country today, have forgotten our history. Where we came from. What we wanted to achieve. What we believed in. This is so evident today. We are the only country, in this world, born of a mother country. This needs to be considered in all thought today.
I have always followed the philosophy of President Richard M. Nixon: Never do today what can be put off until tomorrow.
Thank you!
And tomorrow, and tomorrow, and what was I going to do 🤔 Oh ya, I'll do that tomorrow. 😂
How fricken great was this man! Now more than ever we much reach back and remember that those Founding Fathers of our Nation were forged with Great experience, understanding and intelligence for the endeavour (A Government, for, by and of The People) which they risked their lives to achieve. Just because we are way more technologically advanced now does not mean we are Wiser! God Bless The United States of America!

Jefferson was always my favorite President. Now I have another reason to confirm it.

Better lucky than good🤷😤 Great wisdom!!
I think George Bernard Shaw had a good definition of a fool, “someone who does not know what he does not know”. I think in G B Shawn’s inimitable manner was having a bit of a go at us all and I am certain he would have included himself. Gotta love that Pommie embrace of the eccentric. A society mature enough to embrace eccentricity rather than shun it out of cultural insecurity.
Thank you!
Sadly it has been such a long time since Americans picked a leader capable of wise words...
As a result the wise bcame dumb and powerless 😢
They picked a man of wisdom at the last election. This election will hopefully see them choose a wise woman who is certainly far more capable of wise words than the fool and failed businsss man er whatsisname, oh, dont they call him " captain bonespurrs"" on account of his bravery in ww1😅
“As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. Games played with the ball are too hard on the body and stamp no character on the mind. The gun stamps boldness, enterprise and character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks.”

The "Don't spend money you don't have" should be everyone's aim in life. If you have to get by with less, do so. If you have to do without - do it. If you really want something, save up and wait until you can afford it. Yet, that magic credit card or buying that fancy vehicle with all the bells and whistles is how many people go. That is why you hear all those debt relief ads, especially the ones for credit cards.
Thank you!
Don't spend money you don't have. Jefferson is often cited by Conservatives against deficit spending. However, Jefferson pushed the Louisiana Purchase, which involved a massive loan (ironically, mostly from British banks). Often what is called government spending is government investment. I would include all money "spent" on education.
Right On !!!

His quote, “He that gives up his freedom for security gets neither,” goes with “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
My saying is, “It is immoral to hire someone to risk their life to protect you, if you are not willing to protect yourself, be it police, armed guards or the military.”

Who stole them from...?
There's nothing new under the sun, my friend, so we shouldn't lift these Wise guys up too high, lest we lose sight of the Lord.
Franklin and Jefferson were close friends, they might have been thinking and discussing the same things at times.
You might be onto something! Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were both prolific thinkers and writers, and they shared a lot of common values during their time. Franklin, in particular, was known for his witty aphorisms and practical wisdom, many of which still resonate today. It's entirely possible that Jefferson, like many of us, was influenced by Franklin's insights. They were both part of that intellectual circle during the American Enlightenment, so their ideas were bound to overlap in some ways. Regardless, Franklin’s legacy of clever, timeless sayings is definitely hard to top!
I find it odd that the video uses quotes from Thomas Jefferson, an American, yet there's video of a street that looks like old Europe. Seems strange.

Where was this shot? A beautiful urban street. We could do urban design like this in North America. It would be environmentally sound economically viable and would provide casual exercise by its walkability. We could tame the automobile and make a better healthier more social and meaningful life. Half of the narrator said with a silly intonation is nonsense. And he finishes with what he thinks the two words, which define American greatness, "freedom and justice".

"My home is where there is Freedom." - Thomas Jefferson, SLAVE OWNER!
Here's my favourite Jefferson quote. It didn't make it onto the list, possibly because it contradicts several of the others. "The acquisition of Canada this year, as far as the neighborhood of Quebec, will be a mere matter of marching; & will give us experience for the attack of Halifax the next, & the final expulsion of England from the American continent.” Thomas Jefferson to William Duane, 4 August 1812, a month after the United States declared war on Britain in order to snatch the rest of North America while the Brits were busy with Napoleon. The reason he said "a mere matter of marching" was because, in their usual ignorance of things north of the line, he, like all of America's War Hawks, believed that the colonists of British North America were eager to shed the cruel ministrations of Crazy King George and would welcome American troops with open arms. Oops!
Thank you!
The Stars and Bars was the flag of the Confederate States in the 1860s.
@@THall-vi8cp Fixed it.
@JohnCampbell-rn8rz
Sorry, my intention wasn't clear. Accuracy is important. The US flag is referred to as the Stars and Stripes, or sometimes Old Glory. Those who know that might use mistakenly calling it the Stars and Bars as justification to discredit the rest of your comment out of some over-inflated sense of nationalism, despite the rest of your comment being factual and accurate.
@@THall-vi8cp Please, no apology necessary. I responded while my first coffee was still running through this morning. I apologise for my snottiness. You're right.
