It sounds alot better! But is it worth it? Hope you enjoy the testing and comparison of the glorious M50B25 sound ! Slap a like and leave a comment what you think :)
Yep, I told you. More sound, less torque. That 'thing' in the OEM airbox is a thermostat. When it's cold outside it opens the coolant line which flows warm coolant through the throttle body, in order to warm up the too-cold air.... I'm glad you did the test.
As a non-car-expert I would say that the air has to be directed to the airfilter. While the old one has a hose directly from the from grill, it always gets enough air. The new one is housed inside the motor compartment. It has no chance to get the fresh wind while driving.
both filters get enough air. one could even say the pod filter is better for airflow, but the air from the engine bay that is a few degrees warmer that in turn reduces a bit of power as the ecu reads higher intake temps and adjust timing and fuel to prevent knock. stock is good but "pod" with a propper heatshield is good too. this has been tested time and time again. usually only differs 0-3hp (both ways)
@@MrBEAN584 2 hp on the dyno. On real road conditions, even a 10hp increase is not noticeable unless drag racing 1/4 mile is what you do all day everyday.
The best cheap way to get some power from tuning the airintake is a fast flow air filter (like k&n) in the oem airfilter box. When y'all put a "cold" air intake to the car without a proper intake and without a hose that leads cold air from outside directly to the filter, you just getting warm air from your engine bay cause of hot engine.
8:11. 'I don't know what that is' yeah boy... Isn't that the intake air temperature sensor? It is quite a big deal if you do not put that in the main air intake. No shit that with the aftermarket Intake you make less power, the sensor isn't reading the right temperature.
Your better off just getting K&N panel Filter because cones just made for noise and are useless in hot engine bay. Oways run stock oem but With better panel Filter instead
We can bang our heads against the wall all we want. It says cold on the box then it MUST convert the hot air under the hood with magical power into cold air
That cone filter isn't complete without a set of HEAT SHIELD... You will amazed with the power and engine responds when you combined it with heat shield... This test just like comparing good bmw oem airbox vs leaking bmw oem box.
was that plug the MAF sensor? because taht explains also why it was slower with the cone air filter. But I have the same suggestion, the cone filter does not really increase power, because the cars setup is stock. Just keep the stock one, your engine is healthier for longer and power wise it does not do much. If you want more power.... exhaust manifold and highflow cats are one way... you can also cut the cat, depends if you have technical inspections in your country.....
Hi the best kit i believe its the kn Apollo model , a close air box cone kit for free flow and protection by the hot air,i have one in my 318 is 9 years-if you do the maintenence its ok, but the truth is with the free flow kit the response its little late, regards from Greece beautiful exhaust sound
I went and found a 2000 Chevy s10. It had a cold air intake and it sounded cool but the truck always shifted strange and to much in and out 4rth and third.(2.2 auto). The fancy air cleaner fell apart and it was quite expensive. I had the old air intake system with an almost new airfilter. So I put it in pretty quick and my transmission shifting problems went away. Thought I would share that just in case someone else gets this goofy problem.
humid air = more oxygen as it enters the warm cylinder ;) the water in the air vaporizes getting more oxygen in to the cylinder then on dry air. this actually made night and day difference when i had my 50CC bike. on rainy days or in humid/foggy days it felt like it had 1-2 more HP xD as it prolly had 3-4 stock.. damp air = micro boost xD
@@eliask6180 that i can not explain. just he cooler air in the winter should make more power. maybe there is a sensor that doesn't like damp cold air? 🤣 who needs more power during winter anyways :p even my 318i does 3rd gear in the snow 😂
@@MrBEAN584 that’s not true at all you get worse performance in humid weather the water displaces the oxygen. Water does not burn into oxygen in an engine if that was the case water would just ignite. In Hot and humid air you will get the worst performance. Cold dry air will give you the best performance.
@@zipper978 what is water made from? What hapends when you rapidly head water? Like cramming it in to a combustion chamber. Would the water vaporize creating more oxygen and hydrogen, in such way almost imitating what positive pressure would do?
As for the turbo car the cold air filter is not good because the cars brain its thinking that engine is cold and in idle it runs in more rpm than normal and for the air its getting more air than it supposed to get with the normal box i think for all these people that want to do this with a turbo car they need to go with a map and the car then it gets better
*u did not put a turbo on to pop and babg its just more opened filter i feeds the car with more air and the engine feels good and i see u testing it in afrermarket filter ur pressing the throttle hard and in stock ur driving normal not pressing it hard*
Hey bless new year i have a 325i e36 m52 engine and i installed a cold air filter and I gain power and also i put headers so yu need to get the right cold air filter for ur car
torque is much better with the stock air filter........once you replace it with a CAI,although you hear a wilder sound coming out from the engine...... the car DOESN'T perform better...on the contrary it loses torque.....i tried it several times and the result was always the same...so i ended up using its stock air filter box with its stock air filter....😉💪
Mm, that m50. Sounds like shaking a tin can full of rocks. And it's absolutely gigantic and heavy, but only 2.5L of displacement, only 180 horsepower, and gets worse gas mileage than a v8.

K&N filter??? GOOD IDEA.
What did you make to this car? How you make it to make that "pops" on exhaust it makes as well with stock airfilter box. Listen to 6:55
To do it properly you need exhaust and then an ECU tune. Without reprogramming your ECU no bolt on mods will give you their full potential.

I screenshot that comment cuz Thats some facts
Yea get a K&N if you're ok with spending $400 + an arm and a leg for an air filter that doesn't really do enough for it to be worth it
