My mouse knows what day we change his bedding so if we go a day over cause we’re busy or something he will start throwing his bedding out until we change it
Always wash your hands before engaging. He will smell that YOU are not the insensitive one who picked him up by his tail at the pet shop. Serve smaller portions & he'll keep coming back, keep a hand in the cage just sitting there, & talk to him. He is scared but he will start to trust you. When he does, curiosity will take over & he will be after you for a pat. Rats are clever. They work out who's nice or not.
Someone liked my "advice" on training & it made me think about the patience we need. Put yourself in their situation....imagine a great big giant hand coming towards you. Who wouldn't be scared? But after a few times & it's not out to hurt, & there's always a treat...Trust builds & curiosity takes over. ("What is this thing, & where is my treat?"). After a couple of weeks they look forward to seeing YOU. Now, she sits on my shoulder when I clean her cage, squeaking in my ear telling me about it. If you are patient & gentle, you will have a clever little little friend who is so affectionate. It's worth the effort. Have fun enjoying yours.
My mice came from a pet store and were really scared at first but after a while they would curl up in my hand and let me pet them and sometimes even lick my hand
All my mice were originally from a pet store before I got them through rehoming. One of my girls I was able to ~sort of~ tame down but the other two are pretty wild and that's ok! They were in really bad conditions and were definitely NOT handled from a young age. All the mice ive had have originally come from pet stores and i feel like that definitely affects how tame they can be (not to mention 3 out of the 5 developed cancer). I don't mind not being able to tame them, I am just happy to observe 😄
I had a golden Siberian teddy bear hamster named honey and she lived a year but then she got cancer and died. I really miss her Also I'm getting 2 girl fancy mice soon!
I got one from a breeder and raised it since a fuzzy! Basically I as the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes. He is the sweetest boy and loves being handled. However, I have bought my other 3 girls from a pet store, and like you said they are wild! Its honestly more entertaining because it is more effort to tame them. One of the three girls is still skittish but she doesn't poop on me anymore and explores. I consider her a little more tame even tho she is a pain to pick up sometimes. The other 2 I just recently got so they're still learning.
I have a question I just bought a fancy mouse from the pet store and he’s a male but he’s mean and whenever I put my hand in his cage he bites me for no reason if u put my finger in his bars of the cage he bites me or hits me with his fingers and won’t allow me to pick him up how do I tame him
"Sleep cycle" was good advice. They live in a different tempo to humans. Sleep time for us may be play time for them.(even when they've one). We need our sleep to do what we do. In the morning they love breakfast & cuddles. (breakfast 1st, but that's how it goes). Thanks for a good video. You are sharing knowledge.
@Emiology Just got 3 girls I'm using your tips one tiny one called Fuko who hops onto my hand straight away one called Troublemaker has a minute or two she happily jumps on my hand but Brisby isn't approaching at all but like you say I'm going to take it day by day I just allow her to see me hold others
@Emiology I got mine from someone who breeds for snake food but also sells as pets some beautiful ones Fuko is a long-haired blue girl, Troublemaker is a Splash and Brisby is a Siamese Splash
I got two mice and they’re absolutely terrified of me! I’ve been trying to feed them treats and talk to them but every time I open their cage they sprint around trying to hide. I feel so bad for scaring them. How should I get them to trust me?
Try to be as gentle as possible, but the key ingredient is extreme patience. Some mice don't like being held at all, but eventually a small bond should be forming.
I just got two fancy mice and named them Oreo and Carmelo! (Ones white and black while the other is orangish brown) Oreo loves to be held and played with but Carmelo is more hyper and likes to run around the cage instead. Thanks for the tips!
My first ever mice were from a pet store, but I was young and didn't know about it. I did also one get 2 mice and kept them in a small cage from the pet store. I didn't know better but now I do! Most of the pets I see from the pet store or skittish and sometimes even aggressive. My mice from the pet store were really social and curious after a few weeks of getting them used to me. Their names were Mikey (Named by my brother although it was a female) and Hershey (Named by me ^^) they used to sit in my pockets and walk all over me. If I put them down they would follow me around. I do miss them! They only lived for about a year though. So I decided I'm going to get more mice! I am going to get a HUGE cage for about 5 females. I am going to try to find a good homemade recipe I can give them, but for now I'm going to find them a nice and healthy n commercial food till I can get them a better diet. I'm also going to give them more toys and stuff than I did before. Something my mice used to love was paper towel tubes! (Cheap tunnel for mice, as long as it's clean and free some scented products). I'm getting my little angels around August. Right now and for the next two months I'm going to preparing for them. I have two names picked out, my two friends and my brother are going to name the other three. Babi for one and Moose for the other. Moose of course named after little Moose that recently passed away. I know this comment was long, but I just wanted to share what I am planning for my new mice care. ^^
I learned a lot about mices thanks to your channel!! There's not a lot of information about these pets in Brazil, unfortunately... Thank you so much for that!
I got my mice two months ago, from a pet store (I couldn't find any breeder in my area), three of them were feeders and one was a fancy. Two of them even had health issues :( I thought Coffey (who was very skinny and weak) would die soon. After a few days I was already disappointed bc they were scared of me etc, they wouldn't climb in my hand or trust me 😂 Coffey wasn't getting better. I spent several nights crying cuz I thought I was such a bad owner and they'd never get along with me, and Coffey would die (she was my favorite cuz I kept her in a temporary cage to watch her health and make sure she'd eat, also it was easier to bond with her). Now, two months after, Coffey gained much weight, she really loves to investigate any place she doesn't know. I thought they would never like the idea of being picked up / get out of the cage, by today they don't even care about treats so much lol, they just don't wanna leave my hand 😂😂 Now I'm crying cuz I got 1 year old rats a week ago and the same thing is happening 😂😂 (except about the health issues) (I feel like we will never bond, but I try to think about my mice and how it worked, they just need time 👌)
@@oldvids904 hmmm. Update: Coffey passed. Pretty sure she'd have survived if I could have brought her to the vet though... I got three other mice, one of them died due to parasites. I have 5 mice left; the two young ones are healthy (they're rescues ig), the three older one have been here for nearly one year. They're getting unhealthy though. Two or three of them have a respiratory infection. Two of them have an eye infection. All my rodents have external parasites. I know most of these health issues are due to where they are from: a fucking shitty breeder, a shitty pet store (but here in France I think pet stores are almost always shitty). My rats are all still here. All of them are rescues as well. One of the older ones is fine, the other is scratching and itching really badly due to mites. He also has a respiratory infection. One of my three younger rats has a respiratory infection. All of them 5 are itching due to mites. (yes, before anyone asks, I'm currently treating them all against respiratory issues, I'm going to treat my mice against eye infections and I'm keeping money to buy enough anti-parasites medicine). So, things have been harder than I expected. This year was also a tough year because I had to stay at school till 8pm sometimes. I'm not telling you not to buy rodents from a store; I just want to tell you that things can get worse quickly. But everything should remain fine and good if you're checking them every day. Pet stores, at least where I live, fucking suck and don't give a single shit about health. Especially when it comes to smaller animals like rodents, fish, etc, they don't give a single fucking shit. When I came back in Jardiland (pet store where I got my mice), I saw a box full of dozens of male mice (I'm sure they were from the same breeder who sold the ones I bought) with eye infections. I got my rodents from a pet store (they're sick), from a person on Craigslist who bought them in a pet store (one of them is sick), from a terrible breeder on Craigslist (one of them is sick, and two of them are still skittish after at least 5-6 months with me), and from someone on Craigslist who accidentally bought two pregnant female mice in a pet store. However I know rodents tend to be easily sick, they're often prone to get respiratory infections, and a lot of them are from terrible breeders with a shitty bloodline... Sorry for this long ass comment, I just thought it was useful to testify on how my experience with rodents, during one almost full year, has been. Besides that, I love them all so much and I don't regret having them, they're all precious little idiots and I'm happy to know that my mice who passed, Coffey and Hazel, had a correct life before to go. I just want you, if you read, to know what you may be stepping into if you're willing to buy mice in a pet store. (and that it also depends on which pet store, which animals, and that some rodents successfully survive to that hell). I hope this helped x) have a good day yall
6! I am in LOVE with your channel! Opal is the cutest ( well they all are). Do you have any videos on try to convince your parents to get rats or mice? Sorry if you do I am quite new to your channel ❤️ #notificationsquad! :3
I know this video is a bit old, but it’s still useful to many people, probably daily. I’ve always had good luck with mice and their temperaments, even the white “feeder” mice. ( super unhealthy, but my mice LOVE like, dill pickle chips or salt and vinegar chips, mine seem to prefer salty treats over sweet). I always recommend mice over hamsters, they seem to be more domesticated. And since many kids get hamsters and get bitten the first day they never touch them again, mice are much more tolerable to small accidents like waking them up or something. They are also incredibly cute and people need to learn that they aren’t something to be terribly afraid of.
Just recently I brought home 3 mice from my local pet shop. I couldn’t get over them I fell in love as soon as I saw them. They’re in a giant bin cage and they’re already the loves of my life even after only a week. Even with the fact they were brought home from the shop, my stand out girl sina had let me hold her on the first day. Since, she has reverted to a slightly more timid nature, but I totally see what you mean by the outgoing type. My girl rose on the other hand won’t even let me near her, which is fine, she has just as big a place in my heart. Maria, the smallest of the three has also let me put my hand near her a few times. I really appreciate this video because I just wanna give them as much love as possible,
I was sooooooo devastated when I found out that you can’t get hamsters in Australia. But then I remembered Victoria Raechel was talking about your channel and how you have rats and mice, now I really want to get some female mice!
My three mice are finally brave enough to hop on my hand and today I'll try to put them in my bathroom to let them play in a safe space, thanks to your advice it's been a week since I started to bond with them and I'm so happy to see improvements everyday
I got mine at a pet store where he doesn't get any 1 on 1 (I know it's bad but I really liked that particular mouse) and he's not nervous at all; I actually managed to train him to climb up and sit on my hand the very next day. I guess he's more the exception than the rule though. Just a question: when you take out/ hold your mice, how do you know they won't run away?
Domestic mice are way slower than wild mice, as long as you watch them and they're used to you, they won't suddenly jump off your hand and run away ! However if they're in your hand they may climb on you and investigate your shoulders, neck and chest lol
I liked this video a lot! I just got three mice yesterday! I haven’t held them yet cause I’m letting hem get used to their home. I got them a huge enclosure with plenty of toys!☺️
I love your videos so much. And mice. I've learnt so much about mouse care over the past week, and most of it was through your videos. Yesterday we finally started making progress in bonding, even with my shiest mouse. And last night, one of my mice gave birth. I'm so happy and worried and just overwhelmed with mice-related emotions.
Thank you for your videos. I have 3 male mice - the pet stores in my area only have males if they have any. I checked after I watched one of your videos and there aren't any breeders either within 2 hours of me that I could find. I also looked for African Soft Fur Rats to see if I could find females... none. They were all in one cage, but especially one was being bullied - so I separated the one, and now have seperated all of them into different habitats. I would have no clue except for your videos. I usually learn about animals before I get them, but the mice were more of an impulse. I really love the 3 (Marduk, Anu, and Enki) so happy I have them, but I now know what to do to taKe care of them, bond with them, etc.
Don't know what happened but I got unsubbed from you! I even commented on one of your picture message feature thing is you know what I mean. Welp, I'm resubbed now.
I used to have a very bad fear of rodents because of rat intruders in the past. But it improved at least with mice for now because funny enough when I went to a pet store, I observed them sleep, didn’t touch them or tap on the glass or anything I just observed sort of closely. Then as they woke up somehow, the ones sleeping on top of others were so curious they walked all over each other just to come closer to smell me through the glass. This is small but didn’t expect this because I was just a new face they would fear as prey and didn’t think they would be super socialized. But they really are extremely curious creatures. I was sad at first that I didn’t get to pet them, but I’m glad I didn’t after watching this video because I could have stressed them out. In love with this channel now and I may one day want to own mice so knowing this in advance helps even if I’m not getting anytime soon.
I have a black mouse and a white mouse named yin and yang. they really love up to their names. Yin is very skittish and hides. Sleeps more often and doesnt like the wheel much. Yang is more curious and started eating from my hand. Always on the wheel even during random periods of the day and sometimes 3 in the morning.
I got my mouse today, it's a fancy, and I love her so much. She took a 'fancy' with sitting on my shoulders/back of my neck. I let her and I really hope she knows much much I'd do for her. ❤️
I wish we'd known more about mouse care a couple years ago when we had them, I feel bad about how small their cage was and we were probably not giving them enough bedding or the right food, the poor things :(
The only hands-on experience i have ever had with mice is saving them from the clutches of my cat. Thankfully it's rare and the vast majority are uninjured. My housemates are scared of them but i happily pick them up by hand and carry them outside to safety - even if they sometimes bite me (i know they are just scared). I really love mice and i would love to adopt some as pets one day. I think they are just so cute.
I really love this video I’m just watching this because my mouse is very scared but yeah The is great!! ( I don’t know if it’s mouse or mice or if it’s the same thing)
I’m getting my mice a secure play pen next month, and they will finally be able to have an hour of out-of-cage- playtime each day! I don’t want them to free roam, since we haven’t bonded and I’m not comfortable picking them up yet, and I have a crazy cat and a playful puppy, I don’t want them sneaking under my door and getting hurt. I’m hoping that I can try to bond with them enough to pick them up comfortable by the time the play pen gets here, but that probably won’t work out as planned 😅 I’ll just have to be patient. My mice are pretty explorative, they enjoy exploring new things whenever I clean/change their cage set up. They have gotten more explorative of my hand, they always want to sniff it and explore it, but I’m scared of being bit. It’s one of the reasons I haven’t officially tried bonding to them. I owned a hamster before, she didn’t like me and bit me a lot, which gave me a bad perspective. I know it doesn’t hurt too much, but I don’t want to injure myself or the mice. I’ll get there! I trust that one day I can hold my mice and let them explore safely. I’m excited for that day 😌 next week I’m setting up a schedule for my school life, and I’m gonna incorporate bonding with the mice in there 😌
Our pet store takes in rescues animals but since mice and other animals aren’t usually from here they’re doing a breeding program so they can have mice up for adoption and not having worry abt getting another mouse in like three years. The employees are nice and they do have pretty good items for the care of mice and other animals . We don’t have petsmart or pet co where I live btw
Thank u for all your videos I love all of them you help me more than you know I also get so exited when u post a new video thank you for being you I have three female mice
I just got a mouse his name is bean he is only a few months old and very tiny I love watching him he is settling in very well I did get him from a pet store because there is no breeders or rescues around me but I still love him and I am hoping I can get him to trust me he kinda already is trusting me but will see where are journey takes us. Also love ur videos there so helpful and have taught me a lot about mice and rats plus the research I did on my own thank you😁.
Ok, know this is an older video, but 2020 has been crazy and I have a cute mouse story. I have two fancy mice named Sunny and Birch. They came from a pet store, but they were weeks old and they were the cutest little sisters. Sunny is more like Pearl; literal hours after I but her into her cage, I went to fix something in the cage, and Sunny started sniffing out my hand. I had a mouse before, so I knew to keep my hand still will she was exploring me. I got her to sit in my hand and she started climbing up my arm. I was not ready for her trust in me so quickly and started freaking out a little bit. She got nervous and started climbing in my hair and onto my other arm. I finally was able to get a little bit of a better control and was able to get her back in her cage. Afterward, she still loves to sit in my hand, but hasn't gotten farther than that.
I got two mice from a pet store, I knew that it wasn't the best place to get them but it can be hard to find breeders. I've had them for probably about two weeks. One mouse is pretty friendly but the other one.... She rattles her tale if I even look at her. I love them both no matter what but I hope she gets at least a little more used to me.
I'm getting 2 mice for my birthday in 2 weeks and am wondering what r the DONTS besides using pine/cedar bedding and wire wheels will they show any signs when they r sick? Or hide the signs like Guinea pigs
There are no breeders in my area and all the mice sold on Kijii are frozen for snakes. Would it be okay if I got a mice from a pet store or should I just wait and see if a breeder will come up on Kijiji?
Finally someone who uploads more frequently about mice! I have a question about using wooden hides and toys etc. How often do you disinfect yours and how long do you let your mice use them before cleaning? And would you recommend disinfecting them when your first buy them before giving it to your mice
I don’t have a specific amount of time I just wait until they’re starting to smell before soaking them in boiling water and disinfecting! And I don’t do anything with mine when I buy them but you could freeze them before putting them in!
Thanks for the advice! I built an open playpen for interacting with the two mice I just got and now I'm their best friend. They didn't have a lot of entertainment where I got them from.
Me and my two younger brothers got mice a few days ago. One of our mice named Jaxie, is very wild and doesn't like hands. This should come in handy for her :)
I got a mouse from a store in January (male) and the first day I got him he was a bit nervous but never scared and after around 3 hours he let me hold him and me and him have a strong connection and comes when I call him and loves to be held then I just a got another one (female not going to be around each other at all I don’t want baby mice 😂) and I did not mess with her the first day cuz she was extremely nervous and the next day I started interacting with her she let me hold her without being scared but still alittle nervous but was okay with it and now it’s been 3 days and she’s still nervous but I’m being patient and trying to move slowly and slowly bonding with her 🥰🥰
wonderful video! where can you get the mesh from to make bin cages with? I currently have my little boy in a tank, but I’d like to give it a lid that toys can be hung from
my 5 girlies were all rescued originally from a petstore with minimal handling from their original "owner" ginger was super confident and wanting to be held the same day, clove was only a day later. dhal took around 3 days to be okay with my hand, but shes still scared by movements. jasmine (albino) is super adventurous in the cave and will poke her head out when my hand is in the cage but she doesnt like my smell, and i dont blame her. when ive changed the cage and had to move her she was fine and loved to sleep in my hair. but my poor girl karyda (albino, blind) was super affected by the pine shavings they were using and i barely eer see her come out,
I need help with my mouse Beatrice because I physically can't bond with her unlike my other mouse Patcience which I have pretty much fully tamed, So Beatrice always knows when I'm coming to the cage and I can't even open the door without her running away and hiding in their nest and i need help taming her
i live by a petstore that is extremely reliable. its a small business and they donate a lot of money to rescues and they arent a chain petstore and they give actual correct care advice for animals and will try to talk people out of buying things that are bad for animals. i love this store and they have a bunch of mice that look super healthy and happy and ive been interested in mice for almost a year. in this case do you think itd be okay to get them from there?
It really depends. If they breed all the animals themselves they may not be educated in the genetics behind breeding (or have the time to be selective because they’re busy with the store) which could result in unhealthy mice. If they use a breeder to supply them they could also not be the best, most good breeders would never sell to pet stores because they would rather oversee homing the mice themselves. But if they seem happy and healthy it’s completely up to you whether you want to give it a go ☺️
I just got a fancy mouse and I call him mousey bro. I just use a small birdcage that has been checked so he can't get out, he has a wheel, some string strung up, cardboard on the bottom with bedding. He's just a plain brown mouse but at the end of his tail is white (and he has food and water in his cage)
thank you! i still have a question though, so i was impatient with them and pick them up right when they got on my hand, can i still grow a relatio with them even though they might not like me or are scared of me?
Idk if my male mouse isn’t hungry but he doesn’t take any treats and I’ve given him natural and not natural types of treats, he also is fine with me when in a carrier but he’s scared of me when he’s in his 400 square inch cage, please help lol
Hi, so my stepson tried feeding a mouse to his snake and the snake didn’t eat it thank goodness because I don’t like the fact he had to do it. I’m not sure if it a boy or girl nor how old it is and he/she is extremely timid and when I try and pet him he/she they run straight to its wheel and runs and runs and runs and I’m able to pet him/her while it’s running. I feel like he/she is am older do to being pretty big. The snake dried bit it five times so it’s been through some trauma. What do you suggest the best way for me to try and bond with it? Thanks
I bought two female "feeder" mice three weeks ago and they looked about 2-3 weeks old when I got them. The smaller mouse, Little Chungus, shakes a lot when I handle her but never bites. The other mouse will bite me to the point I bleed if I try to handle her. As they grow older they're starting to dislike me more and I don't know why (v___v). Maybe it's because I recently moved them to a bigger container? At least they look much happier.
im getting a fancy mouse in November and i live like 3 minutes away from petsmart. im still a kid and i think thats where me and my mom are going to get her but i would like to rescue her or get her from a breeder. where could i do so?
I just got two female mice a little over a week ago and they are very very young. They lived in an over crowded cage at petco. They will lick peanut butter from my finger and occasionally climb up my arm, but they bite! With or without food. I know mice are super super docile and I was wondering if it's because they are young, curious, or aggressive?
I recently bought 2 female fancy mice and I set up a 50 gallon bin cage for them because the cage I ordered had bar spacing that was just too big for them as they are very tiny. I gave them all they need for their enrichment, aspen and paper bedding with lots of great hides including a double chamber hide and two big wheels and things to climb on and I have sprays I give them for a bit every other day. (If I leave them they keep eating an eating them LOL) I have not handled them really yet except one of them I let climb onto my hand. this was before I read how deadly a mouse bite can be. Now I'm a little nervous. anyway. one of my mice is very curious and walks right up to my hand and sniffs it. I'm just scared it will nibble me. Should I leave my hand for her to smell?
This really helped. I right now have a lone female who I removed from the cage of breeder mice (i have snakes too so i need breeder mice) because she kept fighting them.. at one point over night a male with no warning killed both her sisters and then she killed the male.. she ever since has fought and tried to kill any mouse she meets. Yesterday though after 10 minutes of leaving my hand in the cage she actually put her little paws on my hand! i want to try and make her as happy as possible because she cant be by other mice.
I feel awful for my new girls. I got them a week ago and they are living in a temp cage before being bonded with my older pair and living in a much bigger cage. This temp cage is mega loud when I open it and that terrifies them. So every time I feed them or put my hands in the cage they all scatter because of the noise of the door opening so they are all terrified of me
Not that long ago i got a tiny bush mouse called bush master from a rescue. He is wild! He runs as fast as he can all around his enclosure, kicking up the bedding and knocking over his hides. Do you have ang advice to tame him down?
Hello I have a question I have a mouse (female) I change her cage every 2-3week 😬 idk if it’s enough , and she is getting like a white crust on her ear idk what it is but she eats well ,drinks well
Hello, I have a huge question. You see, I have a mouse, Shadow his name, from PetSmart. Had him for three weeks, gave him his space, been careful and started introducing my hand in his cage leaving food on my hand, his bedding on my hand, or a treat at the base of my wrist. Is it normal that he bites me? Like he nibbles a bit too hard and kinda eats the skin off my fingers. This happened with my mouse before that which I was never able to bond with and completely disliked me and my smell. (That one from Petco) what can I do to stop this? I already took him to the tub for the first time today and he didn't bite anywhere by my skin except for the tip of my fingers, which this time were covered by socks because I became paranoid.
I desperately needed this because my mouse Oscar just birds my hand and runs away, also is it normal that he poops A LOT. Like it's kind of weird how often he poops. And I've tried putting my hand in flat but he bites my hand, runs, confess back, bites it, and repeats it :( he just runs from me and won't take food from me
Mine came from a feeder box. He's a hopper. Idk what I'm doing but he's in a big aquarium with Aspen, a water bottle, paper towel rolls, a hide away, a flat wheel with no sides bc she has a long tail (or he, I have no idea) food, hay, .. 😍 we're getting there lol Edited to add, I've had it like 2 hours
My last mouse who sadly passed away around a month ago had a really weird sleep schedule from the time i got him to when he died he was awake in the day and alsleep in the night my two new females have a normal one tho
I have him right now, my mouse is almost 2 years old. He's still a bit skittish tho I've gotten used to that! He's fine with getting held & if my just lay my hand in the cage he'll walk right into it then I slowly lift him up & kinda hold him as if my hand was a bowl.
I have gotten my mouse for two days already and he's been finding in the cage since he got here, He is very shy and had only come out at night to check out the cage He's not really leaving his hide so I've taken the hide out and just sat it next to me while I'm done work or homework just so he can get used to me and he pokes his head out and I've been giving his small treats
My mouse knows what day we change his bedding so if we go a day over cause we’re busy or something he will start throwing his bedding out until we change it
aw thats adorable lol
Awwww
the mouse: “fine ill do it myself”
That’s adorable hahaha
That's HILARIOUS. How cute.
wow such a nice cheese in the background wonder where that came from
A fan sent it to me

my fancy mouse refuses any human contact.. he will take food from me but as soon as he sees a hand that is treat free, he bolts. how can i fix this?
LOOOOTS of patience. Also I noticed that having my cages in the room I'm in the most helps. They like to hear your voice.

Try putting the tiniest it of peanut butter, but only a little as they could block airways, on you hand and pet him while doing so
Lauriie just got 2 mice today and this helped so much I was scared they’d hate me
My mice came from a pet store and were really scared at first but after a while they would curl up in my hand and let me pet them and sometimes even lick my hand
@@24jstites me too! i’m getting two fancy mice on january 15th!! i don’t have any breeders or rescues near me so i’m getting them from a pet store
You are sharing knowledge.
my mice used to have a completely nocturnal sleep cycle, but they adjusted so that they are awake when I am so we can play :D
Found your channel looking for info on rats, totally fell in love. Your channel is so informative and super helpful.
Thank you 💕
@Emiology Just got 3 girls I'm using your tips one tiny one called Fuko who hops onto my hand straight away one called Troublemaker has a minute or two she happily jumps on my hand but Brisby isn't approaching at all but like you say I'm going to take it day by day I just allow her to see me hold others
@Emiology I got mine from someone who breeds for snake food but also sells as pets some beautiful ones Fuko is a long-haired blue girl, Troublemaker is a Splash and Brisby is a Siamese Splash
I didn't know how to bond with my mice when I got them. So every time they see my hand they are like "HOLY SHIT ITS A MONSTER".
I got two mice and they’re absolutely terrified of me! I’ve been trying to feed them treats and talk to them but every time I open their cage they sprint around trying to hide. I feel so bad for scaring them. How should I get them to trust me?
Where did you get your mice from?
Try to be as gentle as possible, but the key ingredient is extreme patience. Some mice don't like being held at all, but eventually a small bond should be forming.
So am i the only person who gets mice and they love me in the first day? Just me? ;-;
I got one male. Mine does that sometimes. I think it's stress because I changed his cage.
@@wolfyvenus5733 Where did you get them? Just curious.
I’m getting mice in a few days and your videos have helped me I’m getting them from a breeder and now I know what to expect thanks
That’s funny I have a bunch of mice and my most outgoing is called Pearl too lol
TrainToAlaska how many do u have
I have a bunny named pearl and she's a freeroam but always tries to escape lol
They are so stinkin cute ! I cant get enough of them :) I miss Fig though
I miss him too 💕
I just got two fancy mice and named them Oreo and Carmelo! (Ones white and black while the other is orangish brown) Oreo loves to be held and played with but Carmelo is more hyper and likes to run around the cage instead. Thanks for the tips!
They are all so cute and tiny! Very good tips as well ♥️
My first ever mice were from a pet store, but I was young and didn't know about it.
I am going to try to find a good homemade recipe I can give them, but for now I'm going to find them a nice and healthy n
commercial food till I can get them a better diet.
I never plan on owning mice but i still enjoyed and learned alot from this random video
New sub here! Loving all the videos on these beautiful creatures. Also gotta say your make is absolutely stunning sis
I thought they would never like the idea of being picked up / get out of the cage, by today they don't even care about treats so much lol, they just don't wanna leave my hand 😂😂
Now I'm crying cuz I got 1 year old rats a week ago and the same thing is happening 😂😂 (except about the health issues) (I feel like we will never bond, but I try to think about my mice and how it worked, they just need time 👌)
You are a good owner. Thank you
@@oldvids904 hmmm.
@@stixandcritters4640 I'm so sorry for the heart ache. You sound very sweet.
I love watching the mice moving around in your hand. They're so cute
They are so adorable!! Great video.
@@stixandcritters4640 I remember my mice climbing across my neck, and I could feel the tale running across my neck

I got a fancy mouse yesterday and i love him sooooo much already!
P.S his name is Sylvester❤🐁🐭❤
Where did you get him?
I just got a female mouse ( don't worry I'm getting more tommorow)
And she is like pearl very outgoing and cute
Don't know what happened but I got unsubbed from you! I even commented on one of your picture message feature thing is you know what I mean. Welp, I'm resubbed now.
TH-cam is being really odd! It didn’t even make this video visible to everyone for a whole hour 😩
I have mise to
I used to have a very bad fear of rodents because of rat intruders in the past.
Omg I love mice 🐭 ♥️
I got my mouse today, it's a fancy, and I love her so much. She took a 'fancy' with sitting on my shoulders/back of my neck. I let her and I really hope she knows much much I'd do for her. ❤️
So happy to have found this video! Could you make one to explain "mice body language"? Thanks!!
This video was so helpful thank you so much!! I was having such a hard time bonding with them!!! I will be using this
Oh I already talk to my mouse when I walk in my room! I didn’t know that was a part of bonding!
I wish we'd known more about mouse care a couple years ago when we had them, I feel bad about how small their cage was and we were probably not giving them enough bedding or the right food, the poor things :(
Thank you SO much! This is exactly what I needed.
I recently found a wild rescue mouse that I named olive oil and his favorite treat is walnuts :) p.s. this was very helpful, thank you.
I really love this video I’m just watching this because my mouse is very scared but yeah The is great!!
( I don’t know if it’s mouse or mice or if it’s the same thing)
Mouse is one, mice means more than one mouse 😊 good luck with your little friend💕🍀
Mice is for plural, mouse is singular.
They’re beautiful little creatures 🐁 ❤❤❤ I am a cat mum so can’t have any (obviously!) but I can still watch these videos 😊😊

I love your videos your mice and rats are so cute
Just joined the mouse club 💞 such lovelies
Thinking of getting some mice so doing my research, thanks for the video!
This is the second day I've had him and he already climbs on my hand a bunch I just finished holding him he is so sweet
I’ve got two boy mice named Scribble and Nibble and I’m excited to watch this
There are no breeders in my area and all the mice sold on Kijii are frozen for snakes. Would it be okay if I got a mice from a pet store or should I just wait and see if a breeder will come up on Kijiji?
4:08 I didn’t even know your mice were in the background until I saw that move
Finally someone who uploads more frequently about mice! I have a question about using wooden hides and toys etc. How often do you disinfect yours and how long do you let your mice use them before cleaning? And would you recommend disinfecting them when your first buy them before giving it to your mice
I don’t have a specific amount of time I just wait until they’re starting to smell before soaking them in boiling water and disinfecting! And I don’t do anything with mine when I buy them but you could freeze them before putting them in!
@@Emiology how do you disinfect your wood? Vinegar?
@@xPBnJae Yep I've used white vinegar before!
Thanks for the advice! I built an open playpen for interacting with the two mice I just got and now I'm their best friend. They didn't have a lot of entertainment where I got them from.
That realy helps!!! My 2 mices are realy trust me now, and im so happy!!!❤❤❤

Your mice are so adorable
I currently have my little boy in a tank, but I’d like to give it a lid that toys can be hung from

ginger was super confident and wanting to be held the same day, clove was only a day later.
dhal took around 3 days to be okay with my hand, but shes still scared by movements.
jasmine (albino) is super adventurous in the cave and will poke her head out when my hand is in the cage but she doesnt like my smell, and i dont blame her. when ive changed the cage and had to move her she was fine and loved to sleep in my hair.
but my poor girl karyda (albino, blind) was super affected by the pine shavings they were using and i barely eer see her come out,

i live by a petstore that is extremely reliable. its a small business and they donate a lot of money to rescues and they arent a chain petstore and they give actual correct care advice for animals and will try to talk people out of buying things that are bad for animals. i love this store and they have a bunch of mice that look super healthy and happy and ive been interested in mice for almost a year. in this case do you think itd be okay to get them from there?
It really depends. If they breed all the animals themselves they may not be educated in the genetics behind breeding (or have the time to be selective because they’re busy with the store) which could result in unhealthy mice. If they use a breeder to supply them they could also not be the best, most good breeders would never sell to pet stores because they would rather oversee homing the mice themselves. But if they seem happy and healthy it’s completely up to you whether you want to give it a go ☺️
Emiology the animals there are all animals that people donate there
My babie girl mice are called cashew and stormie I’m so in love with them 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I just got a fancy mouse and I call him mousey bro.
I had 2 Pygmy mice a couple years ago but now I wanna get a couple of fancy mice! Mice are so cute and silly, I love to watch them 😍
im getting a fancy mouse in November and i live like 3 minutes away from petsmart. im still a kid and i think thats where me and my mom are going to get her but i would like to rescue her or get her from a breeder. where could i do so?
I just got two female mice a little over a week ago and they are very very young. They lived in an over crowded cage at petco. They will lick peanut butter from my finger and occasionally climb up my arm, but they bite! With or without food. I know mice are super super docile and I was wondering if it's because they are young, curious, or aggressive?
One of the mice in the group I have them in would crawl up my arm the first day and eventually up onto my neck in the first month of having them!
😍 we're getting there lol
Edited to add, I've had it like 2 hours
My last mouse who sadly passed away around a month ago had a really weird sleep schedule from the time i got him to when he died he was awake in the day and alsleep in the night my two new females have a normal one tho
I have him right now, my mouse is almost 2 years old. He's still a bit skittish tho I've gotten used to that! He's fine with getting held & if my just lay my hand in the cage he'll walk right into it then I slowly lift him up & kinda hold him as if my hand was a bowl.
The black and spotted mouse is gorgeous, where did you find her?
A breeder
I have gotten my mouse for two days already and he's been finding in the cage since he got here,
He is very shy and had only come out at night to check out the cage
He's not really leaving his hide so I've taken the hide out and just sat it next to me while I'm done work or homework just so he can get used to me and he pokes his head out and I've been giving his small treats
As they get older do they gradually stop pooing and weeing or is it just because they do all have small bladders and they can't control it?
