The Best Looking Breitling Watch? Breitling Premier B01 Review

  • Late last year the Breitling Premier B01 made a few cameos on my Instagram after I test drove the watch for some time. I was impressed with it and came away with the opinion that it was perhaps my favorite Breitling that I have seen released in the last couple of years, but for some reason, I decided not to review it…. Yet after 6 months, I feel that it is about time that I review this piece.

Breitling is one of my favorite brands but I have been more influenced by their vintage pieces. My dad gifted me his 1962 AVI 765 Copilot, which sparked my interest in the brand. I also have a 42mm B01 Navitimer and the B01 Norton Premier. I think the new CEO, Georges Kern, is taking Breitling back to its roots and away from the Schneider era of bigger blingy watches. This has been a controversial move in the eyes of some Breitling fans but I think it is a move that will help create a bigger tent for the brand.

Good review. I just bought a new Breitling Navitimer 8 with the B01 caliber movement, and a blue face. It's now my favorite watch out of my collection. Clean dial, easy to read, and even though it does have a $8,000 pricetag, it is readily available for significantly less. I found it for $4,300. And since I traded in my older Omega Speedmaster Day/Date Chronograph, and got $1,900 for it, my out of pocket was just $2,400 for this great watch. I've always wanted a Breitling, and now I've got one. So happy.

I went into a Boutique about 6 months ago to buy that very watch. It’s excellent... I mean it’s way better than Breitling gets credit for. I was about to drop my credit cart on the table when I saw the Wheels and Waves edition which has a Sunburst gray dial with black subdials, gold hands and markers with red accents. I goes with out a date window as well... it was love! Spent a few extra bucks for a watch that is truly special.

I really love this model! I've got the blue dial version on a steel bracelet and it is my favorite. I like the 42mm size as I have a larger wrist (8"). I love that it is elegant and yet also a sort of "tool watch". Love the retro styling, especially the side grooves. It brings to mind the art deco design era. Having worn it for the past 8 months, I can attest to the quality and accuracy of the piece. Really well done.

Always admired Breitling even before I knew anything about watches. Living in the UK the 3 watch brands you'll always see on display are Tag Heuer, Breitling and Rolex. Would be nice to see some more 38mm watches alongside the 38mm Navitimer. It's not easy when you've got a 6'' wrist.

I should have read Teddy’s review on the Breitling premier B01 ( I respect his watch acumen ) that said I purchased the Blue sunray dial with black registers and have extremely impressed with the watch. In the past I’ve been non pulsed with the brand, most of their dials I’ve found are too busy. The premier B01 ticks many of my boxes, I wanted a solid chronograph, with an eye catching dial and a size that would look appropriate on my 6.5 wrist. To teddy’s point, a 40 or 41mm might be the perfect size for me, but the 42mm lays well on my wrist. When you depress the pushers, the mechanism is soft and just feels wonderful, kudo’s to Breitling. I don’t need to add to teddy’s comments, as i feel that he has nailed the qualities that make this watch great.

I used to be a Breitling fan boy. In 1999 I bought the first Blackbird and I totally loved it. I wore it all the time. But over the years I felt the brand had lost its way and become expensive too. This Premier B01 has got it all going on and I am tempted once more to step into the Breitling owners club...
Over the past few days I was looking at getting another watch and have still yet to make that final decision. I watched your review of the Hamilton panda Intra thingy and to be honest value for money and looks it's a winner. But there are some downsides, mainly those pushers, which are too big and spindly. Yes the Breitling is more expensive but it oozes class and I think would scream 'wear me' everyday and certainly on special occasions. Those pushers are sublime.
Breitlings these days don't hold their value well and that for me is an issue and an opportunity as this particular watch can be found new/nearly new for well below retail.
Good video as usual Teddy my boy.

Breitling has made a huge shift since the new CEO Georges Kern came in. There's been a big return to the classy elegance of the 40s, 50s, and 60s which is showing up in a lot of the line up since the transition back in 2018. Before that I didn't care much for Breitling, but since these new models came out I can't stop staring at them...That Premier reference (or any other Premier for that matter) on the BRACELET is just next level elegance, wish it was in the video.

I really like this one like you say I normally don’t like breitling for the reasons you mention. I would like a steel strap but the one that comes with it I’m not a lover of. Nice review.

I like that style, I have a Navitimer 1 Chrono, and I Love it even the size. The one you shown is nice, price is high unless you go grey market and reflects the price you would mentioned. BTW, love my Junghans and strap. Wears great. Thanks and liked it supported your channel.

Great review, I've owned my SuperOcean II 42 for years and although I like it for being tough as a tank I think its great to see Breitling headed in this direction. I'd love to see a review on what you think about the Premier 40 not date. I'm really like the Blue dial (A37340351C1X1) which comes on a brown strap. Also lets not forget the TransOcean 38 another classically styled Breitling

I don't want Breitling to start making these 40mm watches like all other brands. Not all of us have tiny wrists.
If every watch out there is 38 or 40mm then what am I supposed to wear? Breitling needs to keep making bigger watches and cater to their target audience.

Is Breitling moving to smaller size watches? If so,they are doing a wonderful job. If this was a 37/38mm,It would be perfect. Anyway,it's simplicity comparing to other Breitling models grabbed my attention. Great time piece. Great review!!!

You would have thought that would have framed the date. Agree the design probably works better on a 40mm case. Nice movement but this is a similar price to a Speedie 57 which would be my preference.

Congrats on the build up of your retail store Teddy.
This timepiece has a pleasing appearance but at that MSRP I see a few niggles: modular design, no hour sub register, and too big still for an homage chrono. The B01 is only 7.2mm, and while I'll freely admit I'm no watchmaker it seems it could be thinner, and with a smaller diameter as well. Perhaps a watch to look for on the used market.

I personally have a Navitimer B01 blue face. They are a bit big, but fortunately I have a big wrist, so it doesn’t look too much: they definitely aren’t for everyone, though. I do agree that they don’t make the best looking watches sometimes, however the Navi is definitely a timeless look as it’s been around since 1952. Not quite a nautilus, though...

Yes, this is a very nice Design. In General Breitling was for me, exzeptionell the Navitimer, um to new a „no Go“ , but the Premier Collection and the new Release the last Werks are wonderfull watches. I Never thought that a Breitling watch Couleur Look Even a Little Better than my IWC Portugieser chronograph blue dial, but the new B15 blue Duograph in blue. Also the B25 Datora unbelievable, even if the design and color are copied. So We have to rethink Breitling, ...Question: do you prefer the new Tudor black bay cronographs or the Breitling Bo1 or even the Zenith Chronomaster Sport? Would be a great comparison for your next videos.
