Hey everyone thanks for watching. I don't normally leave a comment like this but it has to be said that within 24 hours, everything you see here was driven (about 6 hours of driving in total), filmed and edited (and that includes 4 connecting flights to and from Toronto). So yes, at 2 in the morning I woke my dog up with David Attenborough impressions. But massive hats off to Thomas for getting it all edited and produced in that tiny amount of time. The man is a machine. We hope you enjoyed the result, and if you haven't subscribed already...do it.
I loved the GLI review! I really want that sedan over anything else right now with that performance and price. And that red color 😍👌😍. I never thought I would want a red car. Thanks again for being so awesome.
The fact that Hyundai and Honda have their sport cars ONLY come in manual and petrol shows they are much more focused on petrolheads than VW. VW is for people who have a love affair with diesel..
You guys are the best in the business at this point. I can NOT believe you're not at 2 or 3 million subs yet. You will be. So many long, drawn out, monotonous reviews these days. 12-18 minutes is the sweet spot, and you guys are never boring. Hard to do.
I took my Jetta SEL on the Coronado Trail in AZ the other day and was surprised at how well it handled! Even though it wasn't a GLI it still felt very confident and fun
I have both the gli autobahn and the arteon sel premium r line. Both fantastic cars but I can’t help to smile more when driving the gli. It’s so much fun you can help to smile when you downshift and send it around corners
I've watched you guys for a month before I saw this episode...I've never laughed so hard after the revelation of manual drive transmissionin the car...that intro clip is the bee's knee of comedy.

Real knobs and buttons for the win over the GTI. This one is the one to get at the 24 GLI looks to be all glass inside and more haptic crap. Plus the screen is not as nicely integrated even if it is bigger.
The shift knob looks identical to the one in my wife’s base golf TSI. Other than that, for a GLI, I like it. Be very interested to drive one and compare it to my ‘18 GTI.
"Not a lot of feedback" - that *IS* a problem, why do you give it a pass on that? A car isn't worth getting excited over if you don't feel the road when you steer!

thillyard1 I agree that was one of the main reasons I bought a GTI I don’t like big long cars. IMO The best looking and perfect size sedan is the Audi S3/RS3. Not too long or too big, it’s got the perfect proportions.
"For what it is" is such a copout description. That's like saying that a Ford F150 or a Blue Bird school bus handles really well.... for what they are. It means nothing.
You guys seemed genuinely impressed was it really that good? Or did they pay you? In South Africa we don't get this version, but judging by my ownership of the Jetta 4 Tdi (110hp) it must be good. I love the gti and gli, especially the engine sound cough*fake through speaker* cough. The mk7 gti interior is really really German. It's simple but not feeling cheap.
Damn. I’m really bummed that it now has a front end that looks like a Civic and no longer looks like the “better looking Jetta” like it did with the mk4
Been looking at the 2019 gli myself just in terms of tune-ability, practicality, and gas mileage. Not to mention the wife wasn't all that supportive of me getting a new mustang gt. Lol
That intro haha. If you're looking for a VW, the Jetta usually has some ricidulous lease deals. I would go with the gti or the jetta gli with the manual transmission. 6 speed ftw!

After already leasing a 2019 Jetta S with 6 speed manual for the passed year I was ready for some more fun in my life. Handing down the year old Jetta to my older son so we can be Jetta buddies, lol! Loving her so far of course and looking forward to updating everyone on my long term ownership experience.

I just purchased that car. It is phenomenal. I wasn't going to spend that much but I made the mistake of taking for a test drive and I knew I'd accept nothing less so I pulled the trigger. I love the accord and its basically a flawless sedan.
Right Wing Safety Squad the civic type r is far too gaudy for my taste. The two cars a very similar in terms of size, amenities and performance. Volkswagen long term reliability is the only thing that worries me.

That intro tho! A very handsome sedan indeed. A German engineered sports sedan with styling and a bit of punch can appeal to a younger exec who needs to take the clients to a pub, or an older fan who likes "Das auto" for the confidence inspiring handling and ride comfort that they deserve at a price that is really friendly. VW has not let us down with this sedan that you can row into 3 gear and step on it as you zip through any "Hipster Crossings" hahah. Great review again that was well worth waiting for gentlemen !

Sigrafix The GTI is far cooler than the GLI. It has far more heritage. Most people know what a Golf GTI is. They will give you blank stares when you say you drive a GLI. I’ll take hatchback utility over the basic sedan that every one else drives.

I've owned a 2019 35th Canadian GLI for over three years now and happy to report no issues and still a lot of fun to drive.

To get rid of piped in sound just use custom settings. You can set everything to sport and take off sound.

It's sad that India is getting less Sedans. VW removed their Jetta and Passat lineup. Hyundai removed Elantra. All are chasing SUVs these days.
