He did whole intake of course so that makes it a little bit louder too. The factory right angle and ridges in that tube are really there just to suppress this noise.
The absolute must do on all of these manuals from VW is to remove a small hollow restrictor ball in the bleed valve on top of the transmission. This massively reduces clutch slip and improves timing of engagement, and costs nothing beyond the bit of fluid needed to bleed after removing the ball. Takes 15 minutes.

Really clean and good looking GLI! Nice job
Got my 2015 gli used when the vw lrices were mad low for 4.5k and 60k miles back in 2019 best purchase ive made even at the stock 210hp just a carback and intake and its so fun on backroads with some sticky tires
Glad you mentioned he was a first time passenger cuz I could see it. He was definitely a great sport for you pushing the car but you could definitely see him getting a little anxious here and there as speed picked up but I do the same thing when someone's driving my baby 😂🤙
when i was looking for a car about a year ago i almost got the gli redline , very under appreciated car, they are beasts that you dont expect
Still rocking my 2014 GLI strong. Minor updates . It's my daily with over 150k miles. The 2025 GLI is tempting.
4:17 I beg to differ. White is one of the best colors for this car.
What was the rim and tire setup on his GLI?
I have a 21 gli on bags and it is by far my favorite car I’ve owned
My wife has one in kings (queens as she calls it) red. Best value for any fun car in Canada imo
i absolutely love this car for the value! its just a more mature practical gti. unfortunately apr took away the stage two w? downpipe but stage 1 still puts you over 300 hp so. as for there bigger turbo to fix the 120mph die off that is not true. stock with the summer tires it hits the 155mph speedlimiter. tuned @ 300+ hp especially stage 2 and it definently can jump up somewhere past 170mph on the factory turbo. its one heck of a value. get the 2019/2020 for the most performance oriented. but get the 2021+ if you like the extra comfort and features ie=dcc(dynamic chasis control) rides way smoother but doesnt get down as much in the corners on the non dcc models
The GLI has been good forever. He acts like he’s never heard of them.
I'm so glad you're showcasing a GLI! That is one sexy example. Does anyone know where the owner got his front Wolfsburg emblem?
Man that gave me flashbacks of my mk5 gli I had before it was totalled. I miss that car so much. Would've loved to have you drive it.
Last gli I owned was a 2003 loved that car. Unfortunately it suffered from major electrical issues. It was actually that last stick car I owned. Now I'm feining for another one.
If it's on the mqb platform. Put on an IS38 (Golf R) turbo and tune it, you'll probably get almost 400 hp.
It is on mqb platform. It utilizes the ea888 3rd gen, exact same engine as the mk7gti
Very, very nice car. Very subtle and tasteful upgrades.
I really love my 2019 GTI Rabbit Edition. It's so fun to drive. I'm a guy with an RS3 and a GT3RS also in my stable, so that should tell you something.
Really wish my mk7 gti had ventilated front seats.
I have the bfi stg 1 motor and trans mount with no pendulum insert and it feels very oem+. It reminds me of a stock b8 s4 in terms of nvh.
MUCH lOVE FOR THE MQB platform. I’m a VW delear tech and I love the MQB platform and how it’s also in the Audi cars also and is a whole platform to build on. I own a non MQB Mk 6.5 GLI. But the added cam on MQB platform is a game changer. MQB guys and gals can use the older Oil pan and sensor and not have to use the plastic drain plugs or pan.
Ship it overseas if you going for awhile. Depends on country but might workout cheaper than buying a new car when you move.
The Jetta gli here in Brazil is such a success, the golf GTI haven't came here yet, so, the wagen people just go for it.
ayo i’m watching u first time and i see u having great time in gli. GLI FOR LIFE
I have a black 2020 GLI and im going Stage 1 Integrated Engineering soon! I like your Color too! Cant wait to tune mine! 30k on my engine so I think im ready...Intake, Intlet, Turbo Discharge already installed😊
Best looking GLI I’ve seen since they came out couple of years ago. Very well done.👌🏽🔥🔥
That GLI looks great!
Great review! Where in the mountains? It looks super serene and perfect for a Sunday morning 7am run.
Need to review a mk8 golf R or a mk8 gti and give us your opinion
Let’s gooo Teddy!!!! Local guy to me seen the car in person and it’s absolutely beautiful! And TDIB I got a bone stock Mk8 if you haven’t ripped one yet I’d gladly let you do mine!
The mqb 2.0t is surprising a lot of people.
The GLI is criminally underrated not gonna lie
Man I’m so happy you did this review!
Good to see you in an mqb chassis vehicle
Man that’s clean. Those wheels look like Enkei PF09s, but I think there’s another very similar wheel VW guys use.
I have a coworker with a m6 Gti and mk6 gli that talked me into one. I got a mk6.5 gli that is manual. it’s a very nice and sporty enough daily. They are great cars
What is it lowered on, and wheel specs? Looks great!
I have the same color in a ‘21. I want to do a project like this that is understated and performs.
So we just not gonna talk about the custom city of Wolfsburg arms logo on the grille? Looks super clean
I have an awd gli pretty much, same power figure as well. It’s great value for the price. I see base model used civics go for more.
Just a month ago I got a 2016 Audi A3 Quattro,2.0t awd, and i cant wait to start to mod it
Need more VW love.. get some VR’s on here.
Random fact about this car in stock form, it will keep up neck and neck with a 2003 mustang gt 5 speed convertible (I know that's not some crazy miracle im js lol)
I raced one at light twice and we were dead even all the way to about 90mph I start to pull away in 4th surprisingly but it probably couldve gone either way. closest race I've been in! Car looks pretty clean too!
So I just came out of my Mark 8 GT and got into a 23 GLI. And so I'm thinking about getting 19 inch rims and putting on a 245 40 series Tire and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to do any kind of modifications as far as wheel spacers
I had a stage 2 Unitronic tuned MK7 GTI....man I miss that car. Don't miss the electrical issues, navigation sd reader going bad, f4 module randomly shorting out, moonroof not working...11/10 would get another MQB Volkswagen.
Nice. Where did you buy the front Wolfsburg logo bro?
owned a mk6 satge 2 gli and absoutley loved it!! great daily and fun haver!!
