I love jettas. I have a 2019 and it’s gorgeous. I love the exterior and interior. As far as everyday cars go, the Jetta is surely one of the better looking cars on the road.
I'm looking at a 2019 in black this week! I'm not a huge fan of the way the back looks, I prefer more of a sleek rounded back, but I really do think it's absolutely beautiful and I pray I like it in person

It reminds me of a lady who I talked to from FCA who she told me she got a fiat 500, and though it was bad until she tried it then really liked it. I think if you get a top trim even if it’s a so called cheap car it’s nice to drive. Mostly what you are buying is the nicer materials and engine.

I rented this car from enterprise and it was impressive. This thing gets really good gas mileage and has decent passing power. On a full tank I got from OC to Sacramento and still have about 120 miles left to spare.
YES, this one is the quirkiest VW fuel door! I was surprised the day I got mine that it was a switch in the door! Also, it's so good on gas that I...forgot about that one day. LOL
"Compact Car" Lol what? This thing is 187" long, that's closer to a 190" 2010 E-class than a 178"/2425mm 2015 civic. Of course this thing is "roomy" and "big", it's a mid-size, and almost 150kg heavier. Nobody looking for compact car will consider this car.
He says it was ONCE a compact car, and that is certainly its genus - it was just a Golf/Rabbit platform with a trunk attached. It had features and amenities of a midsize sedan in a more "compact" size. Back in the day, the used compact car you wanted was a clean Jetta or Accord. Both have bloated since.
My one friend had a Jetta not too long ago for what it was it was actually kind of fast as it was a turbo and a non flappy paddle manual, but for me my favroite VWs are both r32 Golfs and the '05 GTi.
Just got this a week ago and absolutely love it so far. I was originally going for Accord/Civic but the mileage on the Jetta and overall features you get for roughly the same price as Toyota/Honda comparables sold me on it.
Honda and Toyota have always made good cars but the Germans have still kept their game. You will never go wrong with a VW. You also have the option of going for a Skoda, a bit cheaper but it has an unbelievable price/quality report.
I had a 2012 base Jetta and traded it in about 3 weeks ago for a 2020 SEL, I really like it. The cockpit is so nice, weird they crapped on the Passat's digital section.
@@cheesecurdinator4010 Compared to what I was driving before, it has some get up. Night time driving is just a nice feeling with the ambient lights and the cockpit. I normally drive in eco mode, sport mode every once in a while. It rides well, and the lane assist is really good for this class of car.

The stereo in the Jetta is extremely loud via Bluetooth. I never dare to go above 1/3 volume unless I want to deafen myself. It has really really really good bass, probably the best I’ve ever heard from a stock stereo. It does sound a little flat, and the bass tends to suppress the mids a bit.
Title is so true. My first car ever was 2019 Jetta SEL. It was so good, heated seats, Apple CarPlay, nice sporty mode, good quality, full LED dashboard etc.
I had a 2019 for exactly 1 year. That's how long I was able to put up with it. It has no power and the extra features don't really make up for it. For $28k, you could pick up last year's GTI fully loaded instead of this thing. A $28k car this basic has no place in the market, IMO

The ability to highlight almost anything on that center screen (i.e. oil temp) is actually a really cool idea when you think about it when it comes time to troubleshooting problems on your vehicle down the road.

Wait what was wrong with the last Gen? I've got one and it's amazing. It replaced my BMW 335d that needed $4k of work and also we had just gone through the TDI ordeal (they gave us lots of money). The jetta is not as powerful as the BMW but it is peppy and fun. But my other car is a truck so the jetta feels like a go cart in comparison. "Adequate" is a good description. But the fuel economy is great, almost as good as the diesel cars we had. Almost. On long trips we get over 40 easy. The interior is nice and everything laid out well. Now that it's got some age it's still like new in every way. Not a single hiccup so far.
People hate on the mk6 because its interior quality took a big hit from the mk5. Honestly though, they brought the price way down, and in my opinion, it's a much more fun, stylish, respectively powerful (if you get any engine except the 2.0 N/A) alternative to the American/Japanese counterparts. My Jetta has also been more reliable than Japanese cars I've owned in the past - currently has 88k miles or thereabouts, and has only needed a new throttle body sensor (covered under warranty). If you look at Hondas, Toyotas, etc from 2011 (when the mk6 came out) - it was certainly a viable option. Don't plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon.
Luke Heffernan I have a Mk6 and my friend has a Mk5. Ive never quite understood the interior complaints, yeah it’s not quite as nice but it’s not as steep of a decline as people make it out to be and it’s very well laid out and sensible.
Agreed, our Santa Fe (which is made in America, unlike other Hyundai cars) has Hyundai Bluelink which has similar functions to the aforementioned remote start.
I bought the 2019 manual transmission version of this car. It's fantastic, here is why; 1. Fuel economy is on he highway is close to 50MPG and always better than 40mpg even if you are going 80+. So the Jetta gets as good or better mpg than the most miserly of econo boxes. The city miles are very good also but I can't give a number. 2. The base model comes with everything necessary including Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The only possible exception might be heated seats. 3. The steering, ride, braking are all very good. It's not a sports car but is still a nice driving and riding car. Some of the Japanese or Korean offerings in the price range are dead feeling 4. The base model can be had for $16,000 - $16,500 plus tax, title, license. Other choices in that range are not as nice. 5. Nice Warranty. 6 years, 72,000miles My only complaint is that there is no off throttle deceleration. When you release the throttle or when down shifting there is no resulting deceleration of the car. It feels like something in the induction prevents vacuum; possibly as an anti pollution strategy to prevent crank case gas from pulling up past the rings? Maybe because the engine displacement is so small that there just is not much to off set the weight of the car? People with automatic transmission cars would never notice. Manual transmission cars can be hard to find but in my view, worth it
I just ordered one and I'm excited to get it, however because of the semiconductor shortage, my ticket price in 2021 was $21,000 with about 24k miles. Car prices are crazy right now.
matyax, LOL. Jetta is a piece of junk. This is lower end cheap car with a lot of transmission issue and GDI turbo engine problem. Reliability is a big issue.
@@sungshin393 I ended up with a 2019 Fusion with 2.0 turbo engine, and that was the best I could get for the money (I was looking for a "premium" car with a decent engine). This was for around 35k.
I have a 2019 Jetta SE got it for 16k and I love it. Great fuel mileage and just a great car all around. Kind of looks like an Audi as well which I like.
Same here. I love my 2019 Jetta! The Jetta does share the same platform as the Audi A3. However if you want the feel for the Audi A3 in a Jetta, the GLI model has the same 228hp 2.0t engine from the Audi A3 with the S-Line package. The difference is the price. The Jetta GLI is $10k less than the Audi A3 2.0t S-Line.
thats where you're mistaken lol, same ass engine and torque. i have the sel prem 2019 and i was looking at the r-line of 2021, its the same shet lol XD the thing is , i do not agree with this guy's score at all ! for just a few 1000 you can make this car look and sound really good ! even more horses and toque for like what ? 500-700 with ecu tuning !
I have this as a rental car right now and I'm pleasantly surprised on how good it is. Comfortable, good looking and a really good sound system. The SE I'm in is pretty slow, but it handles the bends beautifully
I have the 2015 Jetta with the 1.8T and it’s so much better than that 1.4 they put in all the models. It sucks because I would upgrade to another Jetta but I’d have to get the gli since all the other models are basically grandma cars.
I just don't know why all vehicles keep getting bigger and bigger with every generation... no matter the vehicle type. That's why these massive SUVs and trucks clog the road up and can't be seen around them. I love a fun, sporty small car. As long as it's a manual transmission.
I'm about 2 years into a 2019 Jetta R ,. and I absolutely love it. My warranty coverage will last longer than my payments. Yearly maintenance is already factored into my payments. I can switch it to "ECO" mode when I want to be efficient, or Normal or Sport mode when I need a little more "zip". It has all the technology I need (Rear view, CarPlay, moving headlights, lane collision alerts, etc). I really have 0 complaints about it. It's feels great every time I get into it.

@@jasonnugent963 transmission has a very odd "grind" changing from 2nd to 3rd when you are driving slow. 2k rps. You won't notice unless you are trying to find it.
One thing I might add. Always have your vw serviced by vw. Not uncle Frankie who will screw it all up. Cause he does not know what he is doing. Vw will do the job correctly and use the right parts and fluids. Cheaper in the long run.
Excellent advice. I bought a vw Jetta turbo in college that was maintained by a shade tree mechanic. I know this because the things we found when correcting his errors. It was the most costly car to get right after he screwed it up. Get it dealer serviced or use a euro specialized mechanic or it will cost you a ton more in the long run.
Awful advice. Car maintenance/repair is not some magic art. It's nuts and bolts. If you go to a poor independent mechanic, you will get poor work. Same is true of dealerships except they charge drastically more. Don't you think dealership mechanics ever get fired for poor work? I have known several. One was a meth addict. I don't think that I would have trusted his work. Just last month I had a Toyota tech swear up and down to me over his mother's grave that the 4.7 in the Tundra has a timing chain and not a belt. He's wrong. I even know that and I don't make a living wrenching on Toyotas.
Love my 2019 and my partner just bought a 2020. I'm glad you brought up the horn. It's VW's standard horn now, even on the new, aggressive-looking Passat.
votekyle3000 you are so right!!!! I had a 2011 Jetta as my first car it was a TDI loaded and it felt so nice and luxurious and not like an older car. I recently sold it I went to look at the new ones and they just looked basic cheap mainstream tbh.
Teamgeist i hadn’t driven anything better but I had been in other premium cars. It still felt like a solid good car especially considering it was 4 years old and had a 25k sticker.
I just finished a 188 mile loop, 50 miles was boulevard/highway with 40-55 speed limits, the rest was interstate highway 60-75 speed limit, I averaged 47 mpg for the whole loop, with average of 55 mph for the whole trip, most of the highway driving was 68-72 mph, sometimes as high as 78 though, with adaptive cruise control on most of the time... 63 degrees, lots of fog and 10 minutes of drizzle, zero traffic, I did this between 2 and 5 in the morning... this was done with an 8 speed Auto, 2019 Jetta SEL with 98,000 miles on it, this car I rented from Turo. Denton, Texas area to Oklahoma border and back, flat roads. I may have to buy an SEL Premium or the GLI.
As an owner of a 2014 Tiguan R-Line, I am so happy to finally see Doug do a VW! So many of the quirks he finds interesting and one-off in random cars are also found in the Tiguan! (now make a Tiguan video, Doug!).

Was cool to see a Jetta but I mean it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity to talk about how it sits comfortably between the Golf and the Passat.. to a point where you may as well spend a tiny bit more to get the Passat and have a better car with more features, or spend a little less and give up a little less practicality, and get the Golf, which arguably looks better, has a bigger following and will probably depreciate less..
@@Its-Just-Gizmo I bought a 2018 Golf SE new.I tried the entry level and SE Jetta.The difference between Golf and Jetta were pretty surprising.Jettas were roomy and pleasant enough to drive.The interior was greasy/plasticky looking,so unlike the VW's I've previously owned.The Golf seems nearly unrelated.The all black interior is relaxing-akin to some luxury cars.I like it more than the Saabs/Audis and one old Peugeot I had.Much more torque and better braking,and ridiculously nimble.And(in my eyes) it still looks like a VW-never a problem finding it in a parking lot.Other modern cars look nearly alike.
I’ve had two Jetta’s now. A 2001 diesel and a 2013 SEL. Always been a fan and considering going back to get a new one later this year! My diesel got over 300,000 miles on it. The 2013 hit over 100,000 before I was hit and it got totaled but it never had any major problems other than carbon buildup.
My 2021 Jetta is perfect for me as a daily. I did a few upgrades and a tune on the 1.4, and she can scoot when needed. Also love the sounds from the intake and exhaust. The automatic transmission is the real limiting factor. It's not as responsive as it should be. But none the less, I love my Jetta.
VW and Audis are basically the same, with a different badge. Big difference is, the type of cars they make. VW smaller and more affordable cars, Audi makes larger, higher class and more powerful cars.

We have had 3 VW Group cars all in the same class and visually you can’t even spot shared parts easily, most of it his hidden, even then they drive differently. A3, Golf, Seat Leon etc. Huge differences between them

I just got a Jetta recently. First VW I've ever owned. Really liking it so far. Went with the SE because the one I found had the cold weather package and the upper trims I kept finding for decent prices didn't have that. I'll take a remote start and heated rear seats over some digital gauges and mood lighting any day!

@@chase1897 The issue is the average repair cost when compared to its Japanese rivals, which is fine in an Audi where it offers Quattro and and a sportier than average experience...in most cars, but it's hard to justify the premium cost of repairs on an economy car. I LOVE my Mk 7 GTI but it's not cheap to own, $400 DSG fluid change, and I'm looking forward to $500-$1500 to blast the carbon off the back of my valves at 50k miles. While I might be able to do some of this work myself, the average buyer won't.
@@chase1897 I agree. As a guy who drove Jettas in the past, it does feel like a compact executive car. Funny enough I drove Skoda Octavia and altho its the same basis, the Octavia doesn't have the same feel you get from the Jetta. Octavia seems like a reasonable family sedan while Jetta really does feel executive in a way. Problem is with these cars are the DSG gearbox reliability issues which they still suffer a lot from it. Give it a reliable powerterrain and it could pass the sales of the Corolla easily.
Just bought this car a week ago brand new, $25,900 with 80 miles, The only other car I've ever had was a 1998 Honda civic...it literally still had a tape player let alone any of this other fancy stuff so it go's without saying that this upgrade has been an absolute amazing experience! touching on : Interior: you actually only get those nice "race car" seats on the premium trim level. Elevation display: it's not only there for rock climbers, it has more to do with being aware different elevation pressures. Glove box: in addition to the navigation sd card storage you also gain access to the infotainment system's sd card which you can take out and put pictures on and I was told could be displayed on the screen (haven't confirmed). Rear climate vents: I really wish people would stop using the lack of rear climate vents as a bad/negative thing, the people in the back can simply deal with it, it's not some life or death situation and in any case the AC on this car is very good, on a 90 degree day after being in the heat all morning the car was a comfortable temperature after about 90 seconds of being on and was ice cold in 5 minutes. Trunk: nothing interesting in the trunk? um, well, what about the sub woofer that comes standard under the floor mat?...... and the fact that you also get a jack kit under there too. Exterior styling: bland? you're honestly the first person to not like it, that I've heard of, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Remote start: fun fact, the remote start feature actually only comes standard for the 2020 in the sel premium trim level, I believe it was not available for the 2019 even in the sel premium trim level either that or you had to buy it as an add-on. either way it's only standard for the 2020 year model. Driving experience: Again remember, I'm coming from a '98 civic so in my personal situation, it's all good. way better than the old clunker. Anyway, my two cents, sorry for the wall of text.

I own a 2019 Jetta SEL Premium and it’s essentially the same as the 2020 version. I’d agree with everything you said, although the 2019 version does come with remote start. I also was told you can put pictures as the background on the infotainment system, but I haven’t figured out how to do that. Edit: Also forgot to mention the AMAZING gas mileage. I consistently get 32+ city 43+ highway. There was one road trip I took where the average mpg was 59.
Yea even here in Europe like Bosnia which is shithole of the country you can see 70% are SUV-s Miss days when you could see all types of cars and it would be interestinng sitting in caffe and just watching cars that are like just new to me , but now here its all : Audi , BMW , Merc , VW and Dacia SUV-s all the time. I wanna say ... i do like SUV-s but tbh i would rather by caravan then SUV i dont know why.

I average about 45mpg on the highway in my 2020 Jetta. It's a great, comfortable, practical, efficient car.
In Russia we also get the Jetta, but I chose the Passat because the EU Passat is so good.

Just got this a week ago and absolutely love it so far. I was originally going for Accord/Civic but the mileage on the Jetta and overall features you get for roughly the same price as Toyota/Honda comparables sold me on it.
Honda and Toyota have always made good cars but the Germans have still kept their game.
You will never go wrong with a VW.
You also have the option of going for a Skoda, a bit cheaper but it has an unbelievable price/quality report.
After seeing your video I went out test drove a Jetta and I just bought one I really like it.
I had a 2012 base Jetta and traded it in about 3 weeks ago for a 2020 SEL, I really like it. The cockpit is so nice, weird they crapped on the Passat's digital section.
In Russia we also get the Jetta, but I chose the Passat because the EU Passat is so good.

@@cheesecurdinator4010 Compared to what I was driving before, it has some get up. Night time driving is just a nice feeling with the ambient lights and the cockpit. I normally drive in eco mode, sport mode every once in a while. It rides well, and the lane assist is really good for this class of car.

The stereo in the Jetta is extremely loud via Bluetooth. I never dare to go above 1/3 volume unless I want to deafen myself. It has really really really good bass, probably the best I’ve ever heard from a stock stereo. It does sound a little flat, and the bass tends to suppress the mids a bit.
Title is so true. My first car ever was 2019 Jetta SEL. It was so good, heated seats, Apple CarPlay, nice sporty mode, good quality, full LED dashboard etc.

I had a 2019 for exactly 1 year. That's how long I was able to put up with it. It has no power and the extra features don't really make up for it. For $28k, you could pick up last year's GTI fully loaded instead of this thing. A $28k car this basic has no place in the market, IMO

Jetta was cool but ended up in a Mazda 3, Mazda 3 was way more sporty, Jetta is more understated and rides a bit nicer.

Wait what was wrong with the last Gen? I've got one and it's amazing. It replaced my BMW 335d that needed $4k of work and also we had just gone through the TDI ordeal (they gave us lots of money). The jetta is not as powerful as the BMW but it is peppy and fun. But my other car is a truck so the jetta feels like a go cart in comparison. "Adequate" is a good description. But the fuel economy is great, almost as good as the diesel cars we had. Almost. On long trips we get over 40 easy. The interior is nice and everything laid out well. Now that it's got some age it's still like new in every way. Not a single hiccup so far.
Doug most likely dealt with a very base Jetta of the last gen.

R S I bought my 2017 new off the lot for $12k.
People hate on the mk6 because its interior quality took a big hit from the mk5. Honestly though, they brought the price way down, and in my opinion, it's a much more fun, stylish, respectively powerful (if you get any engine except the 2.0 N/A) alternative to the American/Japanese counterparts. My Jetta has also been more reliable than Japanese cars I've owned in the past - currently has 88k miles or thereabouts, and has only needed a new throttle body sensor (covered under warranty). If you look at Hondas, Toyotas, etc from 2011 (when the mk6 came out) - it was certainly a viable option. Don't plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon.
Luke Heffernan I have a Mk6 and my friend has a Mk5. Ive never quite understood the interior complaints, yeah it’s not quite as nice but it’s not as steep of a decline as people make it out to be and it’s very well laid out and sensible.

Agreed, our Santa Fe (which is made in America, unlike other Hyundai cars) has Hyundai Bluelink which has similar functions to the aforementioned remote start.
I bought the 2019 manual transmission version of this car. It's fantastic, here is why;
1. Fuel economy is on he highway is close to 50MPG and always better than 40mpg even if you are going 80+. So the Jetta gets as good or better mpg than the most miserly of econo boxes. The city miles are very good also but I can't give a number.
2. The base model comes with everything necessary including Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The only possible exception might be heated seats.
3. The steering, ride, braking are all very good. It's not a sports car but is still a nice driving and riding car. Some of the Japanese or Korean offerings in the price range are dead feeling
4. The base model can be had for $16,000 - $16,500 plus tax, title, license. Other choices in that range are not as nice.
5. Nice Warranty. 6 years, 72,000miles
My only complaint is that there is no off throttle deceleration. When you release the throttle or when down shifting there is no resulting deceleration of the car. It feels like something in the induction prevents vacuum; possibly as an anti pollution strategy to prevent crank case gas from pulling up past the rings? Maybe because the engine displacement is so small that there just is not much to off set the weight of the car? People with automatic transmission cars would never notice. Manual transmission cars can be hard to find but in my view, worth it
I just ordered one and I'm excited to get it, however because of the semiconductor shortage, my ticket price in 2021 was $21,000 with about 24k miles. Car prices are crazy right now.

matyax, LOL. Jetta is a piece of junk. This is lower end cheap car with a lot of transmission issue and GDI turbo engine problem. Reliability is a big issue.

I have a 2019 Jetta SE got it for 16k and I love it. Great fuel mileage and just a great car all around. Kind of looks like an Audi as well which I like.
Same here. I love my 2019 Jetta! The Jetta does share the same platform as the Audi A3. However if you want the feel for the Audi A3 in a Jetta, the GLI model has the same 228hp 2.0t engine from the Audi A3 with the S-Line package. The difference is the price. The Jetta GLI is $10k less than the Audi A3 2.0t S-Line.

I have this as a rental car right now and I'm pleasantly surprised on how good it is. Comfortable, good looking and a really good sound system. The SE I'm in is pretty slow, but it handles the bends beautifully
I have the 2015 Jetta with the 1.8T and it’s so much better than that 1.4 they put in all the models. It sucks because I would upgrade to another Jetta but I’d have to get the gli since all the other models are basically grandma cars.
My Jetta 2014/15 has better legroom in the backseat and a bigger trunk than my previous Passat 2003 had. I LOVE IT!

I'm about 2 years into a 2019 Jetta R ,. and I absolutely love it. My warranty coverage will last longer than my payments. Yearly maintenance is already factored into my payments. I can switch it to "ECO" mode when I want to be efficient, or Normal or Sport mode when I need a little more "zip". It has all the technology I need (Rear view, CarPlay, moving headlights, lane collision alerts, etc). I really have 0 complaints about it. It's feels great every time I get into it.

Excellent advice. I bought a vw Jetta turbo in college that was maintained by a shade tree mechanic. I know this because the things we found when correcting his errors. It was the most costly car to get right after he screwed it up. Get it dealer serviced or use a euro specialized mechanic or it will cost you a ton more in the long run.

Awful advice. Car maintenance/repair is not some magic art. It's nuts and bolts. If you go to a poor independent mechanic, you will get poor work. Same is true of dealerships except they charge drastically more. Don't you think dealership mechanics ever get fired for poor work? I have known several. One was a meth addict. I don't think that I would have trusted his work.
Just last month I had a Toyota tech swear up and down to me over his mother's grave that the 4.7 in the Tundra has a timing chain and not a belt. He's wrong. I even know that and I don't make a living wrenching on Toyotas.

votekyle3000 you are so right!!!! I had a 2011 Jetta as my first car it was a TDI loaded and it felt so nice and luxurious and not like an older car. I recently sold it I went to look at the new ones and they just looked basic cheap mainstream tbh.
Teamgeist i hadn’t driven anything better but I had been in other premium cars. It still felt like a solid good car especially considering it was 4 years old and had a 25k sticker.
I just finished a 188 mile loop, 50 miles was boulevard/highway with 40-55 speed limits, the rest was interstate highway 60-75 speed limit, I averaged 47 mpg for the whole loop, with average of 55 mph for the whole trip, most of the highway driving was 68-72 mph, sometimes as high as 78 though, with adaptive cruise control on most of the time... 63 degrees, lots of fog and 10 minutes of drizzle, zero traffic, I did this between 2 and 5 in the morning... this was done with an 8 speed Auto, 2019 Jetta SEL with 98,000 miles on it, this car I rented from Turo. Denton, Texas area to Oklahoma border and back, flat roads. I may have to buy an SEL Premium or the GLI.
As an owner of a 2014 Tiguan R-Line, I am so happy to finally see Doug do a VW! So many of the quirks he finds interesting and one-off in random cars are also found in the Tiguan! (now make a Tiguan video, Doug!).

Was cool to see a Jetta but I mean it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity to talk about how it sits comfortably between the Golf and the Passat.. to a point where you may as well spend a tiny bit more to get the Passat and have a better car with more features, or spend a little less and give up a little less practicality, and get the Golf, which arguably looks better, has a bigger following and will probably depreciate less..
@@Its-Just-Gizmo I bought a 2018 Golf SE new.I tried the entry level and SE Jetta.The difference between Golf and Jetta were pretty surprising.Jettas were roomy and pleasant enough to drive.The interior was greasy/plasticky looking,so unlike the VW's I've previously owned.The Golf seems nearly unrelated.The all black interior is relaxing-akin to some luxury cars.I like it more than the Saabs/Audis and one old Peugeot I had.Much more torque and better braking,and ridiculously nimble.And(in my eyes) it still looks like a VW-never a problem finding it in a parking lot.Other modern cars look nearly alike.

I’ve had two Jetta’s now. A 2001 diesel and a 2013 SEL. Always been a fan and considering going back to get a new one later this year! My diesel got over 300,000 miles on it. The 2013 hit over 100,000 before I was hit and it got totaled but it never had any major problems other than carbon buildup.
I see a few of them in Seattle. The taillights remind me of a Skoda. I like that

My dad has a 2019 horn -- he swapped it out with an Audi horn.
The first thing I did when I had the MK6 Jetta was change the horn to a dual note. I felt like less of a man with the stock horn. 😓
The stock horn on the MK6 models sounds better than the current one.

My 2021 Jetta is perfect for me as a daily. I did a few upgrades and a tune on the 1.4, and she can scoot when needed. Also love the sounds from the intake and exhaust. The automatic transmission is the real limiting factor. It's not as responsive as it should be. But none the less, I love my Jetta.

VW and Audis are basically the same, with a different badge. Big difference is, the type of cars they make. VW smaller and more affordable cars, Audi makes larger, higher class and more powerful cars.
To me, the Jetta and A3 are virtual twins. I have a 2019 SEL Premium and worked at Audi Richfield.
Mr NixxxoN VW’s and Audi’s are nothing alike, anyone that says such rubbish knows nothing. We have had 3 VW Group cars all in the same class and visually you can’t even spot shared parts easily, most of it his hidden, even then they drive differently. A3, Golf, Seat Leon etc. Huge differences between them
Chatta299 old vws shared everything with Audi’s. New ones not so much. For example a b5 passat was basically an Audi A6 of its generation

Same here my friend. I've got a 2019 Jetta Comfortline and even the base model is, in my opinion, pretty impressive and luxurious for a 27k$ car. I've had it for 2 years now and i'm very satisfied.

I just got a Jetta recently. First VW I've ever owned. Really liking it so far. Went with the SE because the one I found had the cold weather package and the upper trims I kept finding for decent prices didn't have that. I'll take a remote start and heated rear seats over some digital gauges and mood lighting any day!

@@chase1897 The issue is the average repair cost when compared to its Japanese rivals, which is fine in an Audi where it offers Quattro and and a sportier than average experience...in most cars, but it's hard to justify the premium cost of repairs on an economy car. I LOVE my Mk 7 GTI but it's not cheap to own, $400 DSG fluid change, and I'm looking forward to $500-$1500 to blast the carbon off the back of my valves at 50k miles. While I might be able to do some of this work myself, the average buyer won't.
@@richw3215 try to do more yourself. It's just that dealerships are screwing you over. Especially the DSG fluid is easily doable and not worth $400,-.

I agree. As a guy who drove Jettas in the past, it does feel like a compact executive car. Funny enough I drove Skoda Octavia and altho its the same basis, the Octavia doesn't have the same feel you get from the Jetta. Octavia seems like a reasonable family sedan while Jetta really does feel executive in a way. Problem is with these cars are the DSG gearbox reliability issues which they still suffer a lot from it. Give it a reliable powerterrain and it could pass the sales of the Corolla easily.

Just bought this car a week ago brand new, $25,900 with 80 miles, The only other car I've ever had was a 1998 Honda civic...it literally still had a tape player let alone any of this other fancy stuff so it go's without saying that this upgrade has been an absolute amazing experience!
touching on :
Interior: you actually only get those nice "race car" seats on the premium trim level.
Elevation display: it's not only there for rock climbers, it has more to do with being aware different elevation pressures.
Glove box: in addition to the navigation sd card storage you also gain access to the infotainment system's sd card which you can take out and put pictures on and I was told could be displayed on the screen (haven't confirmed).
Rear climate vents: I really wish people would stop using the lack of rear climate vents as a bad/negative thing, the people in the back can simply deal with it, it's not some life or death situation and in any case the AC on this car is very good, on a 90 degree day after being in the heat all morning the car was a comfortable temperature after about 90 seconds of being on and was ice cold in 5 minutes.
Trunk: nothing interesting in the trunk? um, well, what about the sub woofer that comes standard under the floor mat?...... and the fact that you also get a jack kit under there too.
Exterior styling: bland? you're honestly the first person to not like it, that I've heard of, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
Remote start: fun fact, the remote start feature actually only comes standard for the 2020 in the sel premium trim level, I believe it was not available for the 2019 even in the sel premium trim level either that or you had to buy it as an add-on.
either way it's only standard for the 2020 year model.
Driving experience: Again remember, I'm coming from a '98 civic so in my personal situation, it's all good. way better than the old clunker.

I own a 2019 Jetta SEL Premium and it’s essentially the same as the 2020 version. I’d agree with everything you said, although the 2019 version does come with remote start. I also was told you can put pictures as the background on the infotainment system, but I haven’t figured out how to do that.
Edit: Also forgot to mention the AMAZING gas mileage. I consistently get 32+ city 43+ highway. There was one road trip I took where the average mpg was 59.
