Both great! Tend to lean Tamdhu. I think I actually prefer the Glenallachie 12 to both though, especially at its excellent price.
I definitely like the price of the 12. Cheers!
great comparison, I really appreciate every scotch review you do for us.
Thanks! I have really enjoyed the diversity of my channel. I appreciate all the nuances of all the different types of whisk(e)y that's out there. I will keep the scotch videos coming. Next Friday I have a 6 bottle flight of 10 year old peated scotches. It was very tough picking a top bottle. Cheers!
You hit the nail on the head with these 2. Personally I find the Tamdhu a bit cloying, but then I find the same with a lot of sherry bombs. If I want sherry I'll buy sherry 😂 The Glenallachie treads that line better for me, I can still taste the whisky but I get the warm dried fruit.
Someone suggested that same thing. Buy sherry. I need to do that. I've never had it.
@@whiskeyisajourney PX is nice but you can keep Oloroso and Fino. 🤣
Great head to head Peter! Now I want to try both 😂
They are both good. Glen Allachie has less cask influence in my opinion so take that into consideration.
Tamdhu has more fleshed out flavors. Glenallachie is a bit pulled back.
I’ve never tried Tamdhu at all, but I do really like the GlenAllachie 15. Sweet and fruity.
Tamdhu is more viscous and heavier on the sherry notes. Maybe a little too much sherry cask influence.
I have both of these in my cabinet, although I happen to have an older Glen Allachie 15, so it's had less time under Billy Walker's control. I think the more recent Glen Allachie 15s, like the more recent 12s, clearly show the benefits that Billy Walker brings to Sherry-matured single malt. I also rate the Glen Allachie higher than the Tamdhu, but if you're looking for a non-cask strength Sherry Bomb, it's hard to beat the Tamdhu 15.
Tamdhu cask strength is pretty good as well.
I've never actually had either of these. I have a GlenAllachie, but it's a younger one. Never had anything from Tamdhu. Nice side by side.
Thanks! If you like sherry cask influence then you will love the Tamdhu.
Good combo versus! On my list of ones to do too
I'll be interested to see how it goes for you. Cheers!
Haven’t tried Tamdhu, hope I’ll be able to get one next year. Glen Allachie has been very good, all that I’ve tried.
They are both good, but like I said in the video the Tamdhu has much more of a sherry cask influence. Maybe just maybe a little too much. But it's still good.
Yup. Now I need to try a Tamdhu. I'm a fan of the Glen Allachie and your struggle makes me whisky curious.
Sorry about the blend.
Tamdhu has more sherry cask influence so be prepared for a sherry bomb.
@@whiskeyisajourney I like the sherry bombs. As long as it's not just that.
Tamdhu, more like, Tamdon't. Just kidding, haven't watched it yet.
😄
Tamdhu has more fleshed out flavors. Glenallachie is a bit pulled back.
