I worked for a wonderful black family who has spent 3 generations building a business that originated in the U.K. If these same guidelines are used , the black family’s who live in the western world would have their business , homes , and livelihood stripped away by law and redistributed back to whites.
The land disparity between whites and blacks in South Africa is alarming. However, the white farms have been able to employ the local population and keep the South African economy alive. Redistribution will gut any established lines of trade. I think a good balence of whites , blacks , and many races is needed for a balanced economy. It’s not hard to think why whites would flee, they had their homes , and businesses confiscated by force. I’d leave as well.

In this process, many of us farmers condone actions that are violating rights of any party and we understand the importance of correcting mistakes from the past.

SA citizens are more than capable of running the farms by themselves they have all necessary skills, the very few black individuals running farms are thriving. Even before the land was taken by Colonial government in South Africa black people were doing very well in Agriculture with indigenous knowledge and skills, so now with advanced skills they are even more capable. Just want to clarify something, the murders and the desire to take land is not directly related. The SA media is not denying them happening, there are just denying their relation to each other. With both their origin found in the unrest and frustration of wanting land and the discrimination in the past, it's easy to see where the confusion came in. I am a black South African, I must say first of all there is no party in South Africa that is racist and communist.
The land reform issue is still in debate, during apartheid black people were forcefully removed from their land, over the years the issue have been in discussion whether the land should be brought back to the rightful owners or not, black people in South Africa do have farming skills and the government have been educating black people on farming with assistance of white farmers.
We however do recognise that there are property rights and white people too under democracy have earned those rights just like black people. There are no land auctions in south Africa, white South African totally understand what's happening and of course they are not in support of it, anyway who would be in support of such financial loss.
I must say this is not a skin colour issue, its the question of who owns the land. White people should first study what happened during apartheid and colonialization in Africa before commenting and hating on Africans.
It bigger problem is all the murders of white farmers.

Black politicians from the U,S, Congressional Black Caucus were in south africa awhile back and why was this trip that was probably paid for by the American tax payer even arranged? This tells me that given the chance these American Black Congressional caucus members would love to implement laws that give black Americans property taken away from whites that worked hard for the land they own. as they are attempting in S.A. Afrikaners had to do something. The lifestyles were too different but excluding blacks under apartheid was going to come back and bite at some stage. It wasn’t well thought out at all back in 1946.
They should let the farmers stay but pay rent to the new land owners. Problem solved.
Land reform = taking land and giving it to friends who sell it. Why would anyone ever invest in South Africa? Invest, build and give it to whoever happens to be in power.
After slavery no African was compensated, after plounder of African resources no African was compensated, the land take from our forefathers still remains with white men, we leave with that knowledge all our lives. But i don't believe in taking land without compensation, mostly because white farmers have also worked hard on the lands, built economies and provide food. But i believe to be fair every African -white or black- should be on the same level. I honestly believe that's what most White people don't want to see, a black man on the same level with them. But South African brothers and sisters compensate for the land, and divide it equally and those who refuse let them buy the lands from their original owners.
Who di the white farmers seize the land from? Or better who did the colonial power sieze the land from.
The aid dollars we tax payers here in America give to countries like this needs to be rerouted to the American born citizens and legal immagrants that came here in accordance with our constitution could be helped when they are down on their luck.
