100% in my top ten favourite games ever, my nostalgic for this game is unmatched. Just remember playing this with my dad when I was a kid, most if the time he had play because I was too scared. My Dad actually completed it which is very fucking surprising since he can barely even use a mobile 😂
There's something in the universe recalled in the art and atmosphere that reminds me of something way deep within yourself and it's been there for longer than you were even born. This atmosphere I haven't seen and felt manifested like it was here and in 2001's Evil Twin.
I finally found it! After hours of searching and trying to remember this game from my childhood, a simple google of "pc game a kid and his gun," finally reconnected me with this game, now off to download it and replay.
I had this game for the PS1 (a pirate copy), and it came in two CDs, I passed CD1, but the second one never worked. I feel my childhood is incomplete because of this, and it makes me sad...
My recommendations for games that made me happy like this one: 1) Oddworld Abe's Oddysee 2) Oddworld Abe's Exoddus 3) Rain World 4) Another World HD 5) Blackthorne 6) American McGee's Alice 7) Alice: Madness Returns 8) Sanitarium 9) Limbo 10) The Cave 11) Genocide by KaosKontrol
I'm 25, played this game as a kidl. Still think it's one of the greatest games I've ever played. It's just awesome. They should make a remake with better graphics. Or an iOS/Android version. This game is so much fun
That's crazy that this game is rated E, it was pretty disturbing, but a good memory couldn't get this game out my head sense I first played it, so weird
This was and still is my favourite game. Way ahead if its time in terms of graphics. The story was sick, just a great adventure game that made you feel like you're in a movie. And the ending was in 3D. Come on man that's awesome for a game of that time period. A true classic. I have the privilege of owning it and it still works, might go and play it now
After months of searching I found this game I rented at Hollywood video back in the 90's, I didn't remember the story or name but I recognized the cover art in a heartbeat, I found it using eBay and searching for Playstation 1
I've been looking for this game the past 10 years and finally found it today after a friend of mine randomly posted a screenshot of of a game he said was one of his favourites :D
To get it working: Right-click on Setup file, run it in "Windows 95" mode and as Administrator and install, then before you run the game, open task manager and end "explorer.exe" (doing this removes the bad colouring). Tada! You can now play Heart of Darkness on Windows XP/Vista/7! (Haven't tried it on Linux or Mac, though.)
I remember playing this when I was just 3 years old. It was one of the first games I ever played. I really wish I could find a copy of this somewhere and play it again.
@Dustie1984 They actually had a 3D animated movie planned at one point, probably around 2000 or so, and it was going to be done in France by Amazing Studios themselves. But the company folded before it got done.
It would have been a breakthrough product, not just 'pretty good', had it come out in 92, three years before Toy Story. Take a look at how PC games looked like circa 92, Heart of Darkness would have been outstanding among them.
Whiskey the dog:P haha. One of my favourite games when i was younger. Used to watch the intro over and over again. Did you know this was the first game to use a orchestra to create music ingame?
The "Head Honcho" (I think that's how he's named) is voiced by William Vanderpuye. He voiced characters in some games from Adventure Soft, including Simon the Sorcerer II (funny thing is that the teacher's voice is Brian Bowles who voices Simon in Simon the Sorcerer II).
1:43 This frame really caught my attention, the way the city looks from above looks a lot like the GTA San Andreas map interface style, which is shocking considering this is a game from 1996. FMVs from early 3D console games always had these peculiarities, they are like the vision the developers had of how they wanted their games to look but reaching that level of detail in real time was impossible because of hardware limitations.
The reason is pretty simple. It took 6 years to develop this game. So when they started the CGI was the best of its kind. However over the years it got older and older. Also if you look at the credit sheets, you can see the animations/cinematic are made by only 4 guys. So it was just an awful lot of work (I mean there are tons of animations/cinematic on the 2 discs) and therefore the detail one might expect from a 1998 CGI movie just wasnt possible.
Andy!!! Have you nodded off again?!!! No I was just, SLEEPING IN MY CLASS, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!!! WELL lets see if you are MORE ALERT IN THE DARK!!! You can spend the rest of the hour in the cupboard, you can't shut me up in there!!! I know my rights my uncle's a lawyer. And mine is a judge now get in there!!!
@Fabio254 5 years prior to Heart of Darkness is even before Wolfenstein 3D was the height of 3D in computer games (that's 1992, buddy). Heart of Darkness took 6 years to develop, and it was released in 1998 - 5 years prior to HoD would mean circa 1990.
I remember this game! Oh the memories of watching my older brother have to do the first level because I couldn't get past the first jump! xD Huge nostalgia watching this hahaha!
The intro to this game is probably what sparked my fascination with space. I remember wondering why the disks were made out of rocks. Boom.
I got the demo of this game from a cornflakes box as a kid and I loved it so much!!!
Man, what a cool main character.
*I can't wait to watch him gruesomely get torn to shreds!*
Aww such a whimsical and kiddy opening... THEN you see the death animations *shivers*

Because that's what you'll be experiencing 98.9% of the time with this game.

I had this game for the PS1 (a pirate copy), and it came in two CDs, I passed CD1, but the second one never worked. I feel my childhood is incomplete because of this, and it makes me sad...
I feel you bro same thing happened with me:(
You could play it on your PSP. Just torrent the PSX file and enjoy!
Tatleman not the same, completing as a young kid was epic and I'm glad I had the legit version
Do it, do it now! Your childhood is not yet over if you don't let it! ❤
So are we going to ignore the teacher literally doing things that would at least get him instantly fired?
But his uncle's a judge!
not if he claimed it was for trans rights!
@@rakari5118 its the truth!
Hope you don’t ignore that

or better yet some Great Movie Studio should make it into a Motion Picture with the Help from Jim Henson's Creature Shop!
I've also lost a couple of good childhood games, and now I just found two lost games in one week! It's an awesome feeling :3
Although it has been almost decades i've last played this game, I still remember it like yesterday! :D Awesome game
Someone Should remake the space intro , in 60 FPS possibly
oh my!!! I really love the story, the music, the gameplay!! love ky childhood
I been looking for this for quite a while brings back my childhood :D
Very good and hear you found it is always a relief and find the game you were looking for enjoy the game and it's one of the best games ever.
my first "cd" computer game. came along with free space. I got them for not berserking at the dentist chair
I've been looking for this game the past 10 years and finally found it today after a friend of mine randomly posted a screenshot of of a game he said was one of his favourites :D
I just found a childhood game because I kept it with me forever, even though it not working anymore I still keeping it!
I did the same thing as what Andy did, I fell asleep in science class when I was in Middle School.
everything was greater those days.... oh god i miss it so much
I like how the teacher is giving a speech on parallel terrifying worlds. I wish I had a class in parallel worlds.
I agree with you ,its one of my favourite childhood games.
This game has a very beautiful Soundtrack! Its amazing that I still have the game itself!
Fair to say, as a child I skipped most game introductions... but THIS was just so magical and perfect, I couldn't even consider pressing [Esc].

At 3:21 I love how that guy's looking at the sun through a telescope before the eclipse even happens.
This game scared the absolute shit out of me as a child
iv still got this for ps1 though I haven't played it in years watchin this has made me want to play it again :D
İ missed those days
I remember playing it when I was like 8 and I really want to play it more !

This game made me conquer my fear of the dark. (I wasn't really afarid of the dark but you get it)
This was some great graphics for the late 90s. This game is some forgotten I demand a reboot.
Dude back in the day I remember thinking this game had the best graphics ever. We've come such a long way.
If I remember right, this was the world's first game with a fully orchestrated soundtrack?
+Matthew Dickinson you're right, mister
When they began production it was, but due to delays it wasn't the first one released with a full orchestral OST.
I thought the cutscenes and animations were great, but damn, this game was too difficult for me. I really appreciate your playthrough.
oh this game made me very happy when i was a kid , love it what a great memory
This game had the heaviest atmosphere of anything I remember.
I've been searching this game for 10 fuckin' years! Thank you so much for this video!!!
This game is part of my childhood. This needs its own Hollywood movie ASAP!!!
Best game ever
That teacher suffers from serious lockjaw
This brings back memories, well what I can remember..I was about 5 when I played this game..I got my family to help me with it
This graphic was phenomenal in 1999 when I was 8. Just look at the tram's rusty handhold. This is an unforgetable game. This is THE game.
i love the guy at 2:50 doesnt give a shit that they are hitching a ride
I remember watching my brother play this when i was so young.
I think it would make a good movie tbh :)
Me too! I found many others but never thought I would remember the name of this game or what it was.
l felt the same until my friend spoke of it and when l saw the intro l just felt nostalgic and incredibly happy.
It would have been a breakthrough product, not just 'pretty good', had it come out in 92, three years before Toy Story. Take a look at how PC games looked like circa 92, Heart of Darkness would have been outstanding among them.

I wish I had this kind of spaceship in my garden.
I still have this game lol! I got it on my 4th birthday! :D I've got PS2 and sometimes I sill play with it!:D

That boy has his own spaceship, he dont need school...
I love this game one of the best I've ever played. Great music and speakers^^
i completed this when i was 6 too. i remembered it too, good times
Love this game brings back memories of being a younger kid :(
It was the first time ever an orchestral musical score was produced for an Videogame. At the time, game music mostly consisted of Midi-Bleeps. :D
Thank you /v/
for helping me find this!
Man, for a kid that falls asleep during class, I'm surprised he was able to build anything close to a spaceship.
"Andy we have a problem"
"You're a big help, you know that"
Probably one of the best intros i've ever seen.
Amazing intro. They should make a movie out of this.
the story line in this game really impressed me i remember
I have tried for hours as well, as I remember the ps1 version had 3d glasses! "ps1 games with 3d glasses" was my search (:
1 Word: Childhood!
Andy!!! Have you nodded off again?!!! No I was just, SLEEPING IN MY CLASS, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!!! WELL lets see if you are MORE ALERT IN THE DARK!!!
