  • The book, Islamic Law and Muslim Same Sex Unions, makes a case for same sex unions in Islam, drawing on the Quran, Hadith and jurisprudence. What arguments does this book make? Is it a topic we should consider exploring further? We sit down and get Dr. Shabir's thoughts on this book.

This man is a true Islamic scholar. He reminds me of the scholars of the golden age of Islam who were both knowledgeable in the religious and non-religious sciences. He makes me proud to be a muslim. I pray that he will become more and more successful.

Your Islam is oppressive to a community who have not chosen their sexual orientation, neither have a desire to sin, but to connect with Allah in the best ways possible considering their conditions... Just willy-nilly stating that Islam bans homosexuality is about being ignorant of the lived realities of people while trying to hold on to fatwas and scholarly opinions that does not serve the LGBTIQ community. Can Muslims not see how arrogant it is to assume that only they are saved and everyone else needs to conform to a particular understanding of Islam that no longer works for our contemporary society.? Now a days we know, that homosexualism is not a choise. (if you think it is, try to change your orientation, just for a week and see...) And we should be more inclusive. But we should not force anyone to go against their own beliefs. In my country, the same sex marriage is possible, but the state does not force the religious authorities to perform the weddings. The magistrate will always do them. I think it is a fair call. I live in democracy, and I appreciate the freedom of choise.

alhamdhu it is said in authentic hadith that Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah does not withhold knowledge by snatching it away from his servants, but rather he withholds knowledge by withholding scholars, until no scholar remains and people follow ignorant leaders. They are asked and they issue judgments without knowledge. Thus, they are astray and lead others astray.”

Homosexuality is a fithnah, a test from the Creator. In Jannah, muslims will get whatever their heart desires. But on earth we must do as we are told. But, to mistreat a homosexual is wrong. People are born like this. But keeping a covenant with your Creator is more important than fulfilling your personal desires. Life is fleeting so the test is short. Eternity is forever. And it is your choice whether you want to burn in hell or be in Heaven with the one you love. And Allah Knows Best!

In 610 AD Mohammed said to his tiny minority of followers In mecca, Arabia: “One who treads a path in search of knowledge has his path to Paradise made easy by God.” Arabia was the most uninhabitable place on earth, the middle of nowhere (desert), Alexander II arrived in Arabia to “conquer it” before Mohammed and he was like "forget it, lets go back to egypt". Consider that in less than 100 years after the death of Mohammed his followers ruled from Morocco to China as a minority. During european dark ages, after Islam became prominent, out of the blue, this region started to develop and prosper. Ancient Greek texts started being read and translated. Science and philosophy books started being written.

Even as a non Muslim I can say - this book's view is wrong. The authors of this book have discarded centuries of scholarly Islamic jurisprudence by over analysing Quran grammar by themselves. By this logic, one can self interpret the Quran in whatever way one pleases by ignoring centuries of Ifta and Ijma by qualified Mujtahids. Which is completely unacceptable for any Muslim.
And I repeat, I'm a non Muslim myself but this would be my stance even if I had to play the game of pretending to be a Muslim.

      - Reduce your food, we eat too much to the point where we cannot control our thoughts. the prophet was spending nights without food and resisting the hunger as well as many of his companions so they didn't have time nor they thought of the perversion we are constantly thinking of.
      - fast two days per week, again this a part of the treatment.
      - read quran, another effective medecine
      - pray obligatory prayers and volunteer night prayers
      - occupy yourself with community work such as feeding street animals, rescuing kittens, feeding homeless....etc
      - start thinking how you could take your mind away from the parts of your body that you want to offer to homosexuality to something that benefit your society.

Homosexual acts and homosexual marriage are no doubt forbidden in Islam. The Quran itself (even if you reject hadith) makes it absolutely and abundantly clear. However, if people are born with homosexual tendencies then we should sympathize with their affliction and encourage them to stay on the straight path and not go forth with their lower desires, and it is important to explain to them that everything on this Earth is a test and they must strive to stay away from what Allah (SWT) has forbidden.

Niall Hagan Quran "Do you lust over men in preference to women, nay you are people of transgression" if this is talking about rape, then the verse would be calling to rape women instead of men, this verse is condemning homosexual acts.

    • @sirajalghuraba
      @sirajalghuraba 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Niall Hagan you misunderstood the whole verse. Btw no body said you can't love the same sex or have desire for the same sex- this is not haram. 2nd of all lust means "very strong sexual desire" so the verse is saying "do you approach men with a very strong sexual desire instead of women" again this verse is referring to having sex with the same gender or approaching men in some means "homosexual acts" such as kissing and all that. Again had this verse been talking about rape, it wouldn't say "instead of women" in that case the verse would be saying "do you rape men with a very strong sexual desire instead of raping women, indeed you are transngressers" I mean just stop it you are playing around with the verses and words.

Does this sound like a good kingdom to you?
    And you and your Father
Will never be missing each other anymore
You are going to spend so much time together having fun,
You are having so much fun that I have to go to force yourself to separate for you to hang out with me. All the childhood traumas will be replaced by endless goodness and warmth,
So I complain to God you hang out with your dad and not hang out with me , and God says no problem,
Let me make you all omnipotent
To dwell in my kingdom like me.
So you can be all ages, with each other all at the same time
You see why we need eternity to enjoy each other now? It can be never exhausted.
We will create new ways to amaze
Your neighbor who used to hate you,
Now you enjoy each other’s companionship to learn about each other with nice conversations
    All the animals are friendly
You are not only going to see your mother again, but also your grand mother and every single ancestor ever come across
    And then
All the kingdoms and nations and even the future ones with the Almighty
So how does this compare to the heaven of 72 virgins with swelling breasts.
I mean, you can only choose one because the first one is from Jesus the Son of God, he is our brother.
The other one is the kingdom and the reward for Muhammad. And everyone is comparing to one another , there are so many eyes everywhere you cannot escape at all, and endless haram to enjoy.
    I don’t know , you choose
Oh by the way, in Jesus’s kingdom
you and your husband will be so loving to each other, you apologize and hug
And will never blame each other
You have the access to know everything about each other and go everywhere
An intimacy that only the two of you can share
You are one with each other
Do you want this living God, who is constantly speaking truth and blessings into me, or do you still want the 72 …. With.. you know.
    So;
    Come to Jesus

so you can experience a marital bond but homosexual people can't? this is not what a loving god would prescribe. if you're going to be disrespectful to an oppressed minority like the LGBT community, don't you dare complain about people oppressing you. respect goes both ways. what's really sad is that so many members of the LGBT community rush to defend Muslims, as they understand that they are a minority group like themselves. at least extend that same courtesy to them. absolutely unbelievable. people like you make it seem like there's no choice but to be against islam and you bury spiritual wisdom underneath dogma. ://
