It's always enlightening to listen to such a well read scholar like Dr Ally. His manner is so humble and the way he explains things are so well presented. We need more scholars like him. He is very right in saying that the "Hadith Narrative" has overtaken what is clearly written in Al-Quran 🙁
Hadith debate is probably the hottest topic in Islam today. Especially as people are more educated about what they say and can look them all up online. In the past the general Laymen just accepted them without questioning.
It's not a debate at all....1400 years of tradition, some fools in the 21st century won't change that, there have been Hadith rejectors in all times, no one remembers them and the authentic tradition of Hadith still prevails and always will.
People who are thinking that they shouldn't follow the hadeeth at all and bringing the prayer logic. First of all let me clarify the prayer thing, prayers were performed daily five times a day so people remembered it very well so there is no doubt about that, the doubts increases when it comes to how to act on certain situations. Second of all, the purpose of this series is to make people realize that it's not ok to follow hadeeths blindly, not to make you stop following hadeeths. May Allah bless you 💙
I used to listen to Dr Zakir saying against the bible telling the crowds that if there is one fabrication in the bible how much more could be there the entire bible. Maybe we should apply the same logic to the hadiths....just saying
Agree with you brother. The crux of the discussion is when Dr. Ally says that you should not believe blindly, Allah has given humans all the mental & physical faculties to think, ponder, research, and understand, and hence you can question it and you are also not supposed to trash it away instantly. The balance needs to be maintained. If one is not satisfied he must counsel people from different schools of thought until you are close to being satisfied. In the end, it alls sums up like this for me - it should not be seen as who said what but more as what was said. It will make sense and makes it easier to sift thru the infinite Hadeeths that we come across every day.
I wish more and more muslims learn and at least know about what the difference between sunnah of the prophet and hadiths i.e reports of that sunnah. Thank you Shaikh Dr Shabir Ally
@@centric145 That's the job of the scholars to provide people with clarity. Unfortunately very few do that. The collection of hadith and authentication was a rigorous project, done over decades during the time of Abbasids. It also coincides with the tumultuous political situation of post Prophet Arabia. Let me give you an example. Go watch Mufti Menk's video on Caliph Uthman. He says all the right things about Uthman, and in the end messes up. He says, Uthman was killed because some Jew conspired. The actual reality was much more complicated, and no Jew was involved. In fact, one of the killers of Uthman was the son of Abu Bakr, the first Caliph. How many scholars you know teach the correct history ? Mostly just avoid, or just omit key details. Can't expect that from a popular Shaikh as Menk. If regular Muslims don't have the idea of how it actually was during the times of Rashiduns, it's very hard to grasp how and when Hadith forgeries happened.
@@Truth_Seeker1 Yes workable Interpretation of the Koran without Hadis literature is just impossible. But it is a big problem that Hadis literature itself is highly doubted which causes questions to the authenticity of the interpretations also. SriRam.
My gripe as a Muslim is this: When the Quran Itself states that it is COMPLETE, FULLY DETAILED, NOTHING HAS BEEN OMITTED FROM THE BOOK. In addition: The Quran is THE BEST HADITH. " IN WHICH hadith after this will you believe. ( 77:50). "Woe to every fabricating imposter." ( The Quran warning of false hadith). Why then have Sunni Muslims come to place so much emphasis and blind acceptance of man-made hadith?? The Quran states clear cut that the task of the Messenger( Rasool) was to ONLY DELIVER THE MESSAGE. The Quran states that the task of Rasool was not even to explain the Quran! This task solely belonged to Allah. So why man-made hadith??
I wonder the same... I hope to have this discussion with my family at least so they can open their eyes, but in their eyes I’ve always been the deviant one.
@@fatimaxo4885 Once a person reads the Quran for themselves, they discover a great deal that appears different to what the majority of muslims are doing. To the people arguing that the same sources that compiled the ahadith also compiled the Quran, please answer this, was the Quran revealed through a chain of narrations (like the hadith) or it’s only vessel was the prophet Muhammad saw? You see that is the difference between the two.
@Free Palestine 🇵🇸 I’m am not rejecting hadith but approaching many hadith with caution because the people that compiled the Quran were not writing here-say, which is what the hadith is, if you are comparing the Quran with hadith then that is your problem you can explain that to your creator yourself. A good discourse on the complicated world of hadiths full of minefields. The Study Quran (2017) also gives a pretty good resume on pages xliii-xlv. It also goes further to introduce a new technical term 'Ahadith'. In certain cases it is bold and gives even its own commentaries. There is a special Appendix A incl a long bibliography of Hadith sources. I am so pleased to see that Dr Shabir Ally keeps us on the right track.
Even Sahih bokhari are not 100% sahih. God has never protected ahadiths, but quoran are protected. People use your minds. Why believe and worship another source than allah/ quran? So dangerous
@@tonyloan512 That's not how it works. Hadiths are a chain of multiple narrators over a couple of hundred years that relay what the original narrator allegedly heard the Prophet SAAWS say. The Quran was "created" less than 30 years after the Prophet SAAWS 's death by collecting all the verses that were remembered by the companions and other trustworthy Muslims, and then were cross examined and compiled in to what is known as the Quran. The people who were responsible for compiling and collecting would have been trustworthy because they were closest to the Prophet, and therefore would have heard the recitations of the Prophet and known which verses were authentic and therefore should be compiled. Is there room for scepticism in the compilation of the Quranic verses? Yes, however you would have to provide counter-evidence that the verses that were compiled at that time were not revelations of the Prophet SAAWS and that things were either left out or forgotten.

Peace everybody The Quran is the only book Allah tells us to follow: This is the Scripture in which there is no doubt, a guide for the righteous - 2:2 Who has been granted permission to say otherwise and to follow any other books? Were they inspired? By whom? The devil? And the only book He will preserve: Indeed it is We who have sent down the Reminder, and indeed it is We who will preserve it - 15:9 Who can say the Quran was forged? Allah tell us to reflect on the Quran: Do they not reflect on the Quran If it was from any other than God they would have found it very different - 4:82 This ia a rhetorical question asking us to apply the acid test to other books (hadiths, bible...) and you will find therein many discrepancies. Have you not understand that Allah is urging us to THINK (we all have this ability) and stop being followers? Allah tells having completed the religion during the the prophet livelihood; therefore everything else is Bidaa (addition): Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have accepted surrender as the system for you - 5:3 (part) Who can pretend having the permission to add anything to this religion (Allah forgives such thoughts)? And he warns us: And if you obey the majority of those on Earth they will lead you astray; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess - 6:116 Can you deny that the majority is following hadiths rather than Glorious Quran? The collection of hadiths is the exact same procedures how other religion created their books. Let us not fall into the devil's trap and look up to the Quran as the last testament preserved by Allah if you are truthful and God fearing. Salaam

I am Najib, an Indonesian, it's great talk... telling the transmission of hadiths until their preservation within great books of Sunni hadiths. It is great recordings of the sayings or actions of the prophet. I have questions: (1) How about Shia recordings that prefer transmissions through ahlul bait (family and descendants of the prophet) that came also to be preserved in the great books of Shia hadiths. Can you make a talk comparing these two traditions. (2) While we have abundance of narratives about Muhammad PBUH as recorded by Sunnis and Shias, even with their sanad (chains of narrators) and evaluation, I can't see this sanad exist in the four gospels recounting Jesus PBUH. It is only matn (the texts) that are exist. Can you say something about it?
None of the gospel authors actually authored their gospels for sure from what I've read. other people wrote them down after their deaths. So there had to be a chain of narrators, it's just not overtly stated. Ofc the gospels are derivative to an unknown degree of the injeel. Even the Christian scholars belief there is a "q source" which the gospels reference.
I would even think many times buying a second hand car. How much believing to hadiths base on hearsay. A collection of sayings of many people which collected 200 years after the prophet. Strange and suspicious....
You see hadith to Muslim equivalent to Christian ✝️Bible. The difference is we can trace do falsification test on Hadith . With Bible since we don't have original manuscript it hard to tell which true story or which is added later on. Quran is never changed 1400 . Revealed over 23 of life time of the prophet pbuh. We claim Quran is word of Allah. He preserve it to all mankind until day of judgment. Torah and gospel is revealed only to tribe of Isreal not to all mankind. That is why Allah didn't preserve it.
@@fathimahmmed5293 But Muslims also do not have the original manuscripts of the Quran or the Hadiths. Btw, the codices of Ibn Masud, and Ubay Ibn Ka’b differ from the Uthmanic codex. So which codex faithfully preserved the Quranic revelation? Before you answer, note that Mohammed is reported to have said in Bukhari “Take (learn) the Quran from four: Abdullah bin Masud, Salim, Mu’adh, and Ubai bin Ka’b”. If you claim that the Uthmanic codex should be preferred over all other codices, how do we know that the various canonical readings of the Quran we have today do not diverge from Uthman’s Quran which we do not have? And how do they compare to Hafsa’s Quran, which predates Uthman’s? Now Muslims want us to take their word when they tell us that the Quran has been preserved word for word and tashkil for tashkil. They claim that the Quran was mass transmitted (mutawatir) and so its preservation cannot be questioned. But even the claim that the Quran is tawatir is disputed by some Muslim scholars. What needs to be shown is not whether the Uthmanic codex has been preserved, rather it needs to be shown that every Quranic revelation that Mohammed received has been preserved (i.e. nothing was missed in Hafsa’s and Uthman’s Quran). How can that be done when the Quran was not compiled during Mohammed’s time, and that many who had memorized the Quran died in battle of Yamama? How can you prove this without presupposing that Islam is true? We do not have the original Quranic materials written by Mohammed’s scribes to compare because sadly, Uthman burnt early Quranic materials (fragmentary manuscripts and whole copies). This is all to point out that in the best case scenario, Muslims can only be confident that the Uthmanic codex was preserved and then hope that his standardization of the Quran faithfully preserved all Quranic revelations. To maintain their position, they will have to disregard reports of differences with the other codices of Masud and Ka’b. They will have to ignore the Sanaa manuscript, forgo textual criticism, and deny every Hadith that questions “The Standard Narrative”. And in the meantime, they attack the Bible. Muslims should listen to what Ibn Umar said: “Let none of you say, ‘I have learned the whole of the Quran’, for how does he know what the whole of it is, when much of it has disappeared? Let him say, ‘I have learned what is extant thereof.’” Your salvation is of utmost importance for you not to look into these things.

Don’t expect your sheik to tell you this information. They don’t want you to have doubts. But you have to do your own research and ask them questions. Here is a good place to start. The famous Quran translator, Yusuf Ali, mentions that there is an additional clause in Surah 33:6 in the codex of Ubayy ibn Ka’b. This clause “and he is a father of them”, is not found in today’s Quran. Why is that, when Mohammed said Muslims were to learn the Quran from Ubayy ibn Ka’b? The hadiths tend to depict Muhammad just like the Caliph of the time they were written at. If the Caliph liked to marry children, then Muhammad had to marry Aisha at 9 years old. If the Caliph liked to stone people then the hadith would say Muhammad ordered the stoning of so and so (even if it's nowhere to be found in the Qur'an as a ruling).
@@kanizfatima1377 They say in false hadiths attributed to Aisha that there used to be a Qur'an verse about stoning, but a hungry goat ate it because it was written in a leaf. So goats abrogate Qur'an verses according to the so called "Salafists".

Assalamoallikom brother Dr. Shabbir Ally. I am pure born and raised proud Shiaite from Iran. I am deeply surprised that prophet Mohamad PUH whom his family starting from Ali and Fatemah whom were treated in a very disgraceful manner that Fatemah died shortly after her father's death and Ali was associated on occasion of prayer in a mosque and after him Hassan was poisoned, Hussain was grousomely decapitated and so with all the descended of rassoullah all the way to 11th Imam. Now I am surprised that prophet founded the ultimate and righteous Islam but his blood family were treated that way and after all power politics between the Omar Ossman and Aboobakkar who made themselves the leaders of Islam. In all your discussions I have never seen or heard that you mention about Nahjollballaghah and also as we have told by our scholars that at the time war of Khaibar prophet raised the hand Ali and told " من کنت مولاه وعلی مولاه" Anyway I would appreciate if you elaborate on this please
If Ayesha critically evaluated the text's substance, she was in a position to do so since she lived with the prophet. However, for people who lived generations after the prophet, how could they analyze the text's substance ? They did not have the capacity to evaluate the text substance ie. If the the chain of narrators were sound, the text substance woukd likely be also sound because those narrators had more authority that the one who were evaluating the text.
No one has ever claimed that the hadiths were perfectly preserved as they were compiled centuries after the death of the Prophet (SAW) and all directly connected to him. That distinction only belongs to Quran.

Hadith authentic. Or fabricated v/s Ahlulbait Imam ,question is who should we follow, for me it is the ahlulbait, family of Rasullalah, and descendant of Imam Ali r.a.
Q from a Shi’a on that last part. You said that the 12 Imams (leaders) hadith is likely a fabrication, but could it not be that Rasulullah did in fact allude to 12 leaders but the Sunnis analyse it the content through their theological perspective and rejects it based on their established world view. In other words, could Sunni biased towards the hadith be the cause of them rejecting it out of hand, particularly when they are not so dismissive of other ahadith in the Sahihatu Sitta? It does not seem far fetched that a Prophet (one capable of prophesy) would predict the emergence of these leaders does it?
The truth must be spoken but presenting a narrative like this casts doubt on all Hadiths. It will confuse people and then each one uses or discards texts according to his/her whim. So here we go.
Islam can exist without hadeeth. Islam is Qur'an, Qur'an is Islam. However, hadeeth that do not contradict the Qur'an or other hadeeth can be taken into consideration. Hadeeth is a supplement, not the foundation. Our book is one. Not six. Qur'an cannot stress enough about that.

(Surah Al- Hajj 28) -Sa'yy: "Indeed, aṣ-Ṣafā and al-Marwah are among the symbols1 of Allah. So whoever makes ḥajj [pilgrimage] to the House or performs ʿumrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them.2 And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allah is Appreciative3 and Knowing." And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful." They detail that salah is made by reciting Qur'an and dua, bowing, prostrating (sajdah), staying up, etc. "[Such believers are] the repentant, the worshippers, the praisers [of Allah], the travelers [for His cause], those who bow and prostrate [in prayer], those who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and those who observe the limits [set by] Allah. And give good tidings to the believers." (Surah At-Tawvah 9:112) "Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant." (Surah As-Sajdah 15) - Salah times: "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember." (Surah Hud 114) "Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night1 and [also] the Qur’ān [i.e., recitation] of dawn.2 Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed." (Surah Al-Isra 78) "And from [part of] the night, pray1 with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān] as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that2 your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station." (Surah Al-Isra 79) "So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied." As a second reliable source of Islam, Hadith has many types in Islam. These types are: 1. Hadith Sahih: It is the Genuine Hadith that has no weakness in its Isnad (chain of transmission), or in its Matn (text). The Genuine Hadith also has no contradiction of any kind of the established beliefs of Islam. We can say that “Hadith Sahih” is a name that was given to a “Faultless Hadith. 2. Hadith Hasan: It is also called fair Hadith; as it is similar to genuine Hadith. The difference between Hadith Sahih and Hadith Hasan is that the Narratorr of the second type has defective memory compared to those of the first type. 3. Hadith Dhaif: This is the third type of types of Hadith in Islam, in which one or more of the Narrators are considered unreliable. In this type of Hadith, some serious doubts can be raised. 4. Forged Hadith: Is the last type, and it is totally forged Hadith. Forged Hadith is also called (Maudu).
@@Chakswari101 You seriously think Muslims are meant to follow 4,000 "authentic" hadiths? That's almost the size of the Quran.
@Aqeel mahmood That's even more insane. How is anyone meant to follow that
People who are thinking that they shouldn't follow the hadeeth at all and bringing the prayer logic. May Allah bless you 💙
Exactly it was not like people did not know how to pray until Hadiths came along. There’s was an established practice and living tradition.

The Quran states that the task of Rasool was not even to explain the Quran! This task solely belonged to Allah. So why man-made hadith??

Allah tells having completed the religion during the the prophet livelihood; therefore everything else is Bidaa (addition):
Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have accepted surrender as the system for you - 5:3 (part)
Who can pretend having the permission to add anything to this religion (Allah forgives such thoughts)?
And he warns us:
And if you obey the majority of those on Earth they will lead you astray; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess - 6:116
Can you deny that the majority is following hadiths rather than Glorious Quran?

Sahih Bukhari is the most authentic book of hadith, all hadith in it are authentic, we do not pick and choose.
Bukhari is not revelation like the Quran, but it does contain revelation through the Prophet sallahu alayhi wassalam in his speech, his actions and what he permitted and forbade by the permission of Allah.
The Quran explicitly makes it clear Obey ALLAH, OBEY the messenger numerous times, as well as many instances of it being referenced in the Quran of the Prophet revceiving revelation that isn't actually in the Quran, like the original Qibla, the fact that angels were being sent to assist at Badr, Allah exposing the plot of two of his wives, the prohibition of the munafiqeen being able to join an expedition, and detailed instructions on how to perform salah, do Hajj and other matters.

Great discussion what are people's thoughts on Buraq
Very subtle message. very intelligent man.
@@fathimahmmed5293 Allah doesnt preserve the hadiths too. You shouldn't follow them just like the bible.....
Let him say, ‘I have learned what is extant thereof.’”
Your salvation is of utmost importance for you not to look into these things.
@@tictac7359 please show the difference with evidence? I am guessing you are Arabic language scholar?!! 😉 I'm sure go back look Dr Ali's videos the preservation of Quran may give you some education.
@@fathimahmmed5293 Muslim scholars are the ones pointing out these differences. I am only sharing the information that is found in Islamic sources.
Do not just accept why Dr Ally says in his videos. Investigate his claims because he will not answer for you. You will have to answer for yourself just as everyone else.
I feel the need to mention that the decision to make Abu Bakr caliph was made without Ali even being present. Ali was not even able to make a case for himself because the meeting was called without him.

In all your discussions I have never seen or heard that you mention about Nahjollballaghah and also as we have told by our scholars that at the time war of Khaibar prophet raised the hand Ali and told " من کنت مولاه وعلی مولاه"
Anyway I would appreciate if you elaborate on this please
It’s crazy to think this happened bc of how sinful it is to attach false sayings to the prophet ﷺ
Also, they were judging the character of people who were not around right?
Salam Dr Shabir Ally. Did Prophet saw ever said "follow what I do" and "do how I do" etc
Dr Shabir is not sugar coating his religion...
So much about perfect preservation!
Lol ur a fool - only the quran is preserved
No one has ever claimed that the hadiths were perfectly preserved as they were compiled centuries after the death of the Prophet (SAW) and all directly connected to him. That distinction only belongs to Quran.

Whats the point of watching this video if u dont know the difference between quran and hadith😂 did u even understand anything this scholar said??
Ask zakir naik....he will tell another tale

"And from [part of] the night, pray1 with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān] as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that2 your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station." (Surah Al-Isra 79)

As a second reliable source of Islam, Hadith has many types in Islam. These types are:
1. Hadith Sahih: It is the Genuine Hadith that has no weakness in its Isnad
(chain of transmission), or in its Matn (text). The Genuine Hadith also has no contradiction of any kind of the established beliefs of Islam. We can say that “Hadith Sahih” is a name that was given
to a “Faultless Hadith. 2. Hadith Hasan: It is also called fair Hadith; as it is similar to genuine
Hadith.
