  • The fan blades on my whole house exhaust fan stopped spinning properly. Figured out a set screw became loose on the pulley. A few turns of a 3/8" wrench and the problem was solved. The issue wasn't the motor or the belt. I hope this helps someone.
Master Flow 30BWHFS and 36BWHFS models.
I forgot to add that while you are up there, spray some belt dressing on the belt. It will keep the belt healthy. Mine is near 16 years old.

Ty I have same fan mine about 74 years old for the past 2 months it’s been Tapping making a bothersome noise.
We’ll this morning no sound I wonder what happened. Three weeks ago I went to attic and oiled parts of shaft and motor just a drop of regular oil 3&1.
    I’m happy
    Ty

@johnhouli3450 they done make em like they used to. I have an electric leaf blower from the early 80s from my grandfather. Works like a charm still.

@hammouraby Happy this helped. Luckily I spotted the loose set screw. If you really want it to stay tight longer, put a little blue Loc-Tite on the screw.

@@morebuckets now I got this take care of, can I pong your brain with a problem that’s been going on for 2 years: turning on my fan in the morning (when it is colder) trips the breaker. But in the afternoon, it turns on no issues.
Error I get on my digital breaker is “Overload”.
I checked and re-tightened all connections, replaced local breaker on the fan, still the same.
Fan is on the only other component on same circuit as HVAC, so I know nothing is running at time of operation.
HVAC has never tripped the breaker.

@hammouraby I'm no electrician. But I know in swamp coolers we had to use an ohm meter and adjust the pulley so it ran at the proper amperage. Maybe your belt is shrinking a bit when cold? Just spitballing

Damn bro I've never seen an airflow system like that! We have nothing like that here in Australia that I know of. Obviously we do have the ducted stuff now but that system looks old

Its about 15 years old or so. But I think people still install them. Look up "whole house exhaust fan"

It's meant to pump the hot air out of the house into the attic, which then pushes the hot air out of the attic. I also have a gable fan to vent the attic when it gets hot up there

Lost the motor side pulley at some point(another loose set screw). Would you know what size the pulley is to replace it? Not seeing any pulley info in install papers.

I don't offhand. Maybe the manufacturer could help? I called a local shop that installs them and spoke with a nice guy that was super helpful, maybe try that route also?

Mine hasnt broke yet. But it doesnt appear difficult to replace. Probably a good idea to spray belt dressing on it from time to time I reckon

Have windows cracked when you turn those on... It will suck the pilot lights out on your stove and furnace!

It happened to me when I first got my house... Just replaced the 50 inch belt on mine so it's pretty intense I guess.
