It fucking sucks just running away at the ens of the stupid prologue took me a dozen attempts. I never had a prologue make me hate a game so much. I was fuming, for fucks sake do they even have stamina?
I don't know if they added this but the 3 types of enemies all have the same knowledge and can do master stikes so the unarmored enemies that were in my game could parry me and would all the time even thoughthey looked like normal farmers I think one even did a combo on me. Warhorse should limit the knowledge of master strikes to the 3rd tier of enemies the full plate armor ones
This is one of the things that bothers me the most. You have to take all these training and hard work to learn "master"strikes, but a random farmer group that can't even afford a bucket to put onto their heads just so happens to be bestowed by the knowledge of swordsmanship mastery by the spirits of their great great ancestors?
Compound this with the fact that with the fact combat, aside from archery, and master strike is 100% algorithmic and entirely pointless, PLAYER SKILL IS NOT REWARDED. Just don't use normal attacks until your extremely high level. This is because every time you use a normal attack or a stab, it will run a check of your skills, their skills and then devise a formula that determines your chance of hitting them, or them just blocking or more often not, master striking YOU instead. There is NO SKILL INVOLVE. You are not playing the game wrong if you get hit, you can follow all the fancy tips and tricks they teach you in game but faints are equally as much based on chance as a normal attack. The odds just shift a little in your favor but over all are meaningless, and still 100% based on chance. All this leads to a very unrewarding realization that, well, you are essentially nothing more then barking orders at Henry and he is flubbing it all. You don't actually make a difference, leading to a feeling of powerlessness (which i imagine was intended.) Then you learn master strike and suddenly your the god of the battlefield and the NPC cannot hit you, or prevent you from killing them unless they simply refuse to attack at all.
Moving backwards and Master strike spam is the only way do deal with full plated groups of enemies. They master strike every attack you throw at them.. Effectively removing all depth from the combat altogether.
@@sirdetmist3204 Even then sometimes I have had issues where I will stagger an enemy and they somehow master strike me either way in spite of their guard being lowered, it has caused literal staring matches where after like 30 seconds I finally swing and get master striked, gave me some old parry spam meta flash backs from early For Honor. To be honest, if I were on PC best fix is to get the combat mods that expand on certain aspects of the combat and limit others like master strike spam from AI and the player
@@kobrax0341 I have the same issue. Had multiple times where they've had their side to me or even back from a stagger attack and insta hit me with riposte or master strike
@@sirdetmist3204hat you don’t realise is that they will still manage to swing and hit you simultaneously during a bind, while in a bind they will also randomly parry you or teleport behind you. Also master strike sometimes doesn’t even appear as an option and won’t work
Enemies having the ability to masterstrike was the biggest fuck you to any sort of enjoyment you could get from combat in this game. One on one duels are great but more often than not you'll get ambushed by 3-4 fully armoured bandits and have to reload a save because there's no chance in hell you're getting out of it alive. Trying to retreat? The enemies are endowed with woodoo powers to telekinesis your ass back to them and seemingly have infinite stamina when chasing you. I love the game, I've already got over 300 hours in it but we need to call a spade a spade. The combat is the weakest aspect of this game. Where the bandit camp raid and siege of Talmberg could have been incredible battles the AI says fuck that everybody starts duelling. All the retards calling the combat realistic need to know battles weren't fought by everybody pairing up as if it's a Hollywood fucking movie. I love me some historical accuracy but the combat makes me insane because you'll die for no fucking reason and the only way to win is to cheese the mechanics. Shit out of the lock on mechanic and start swinging.
"Erm actually you not ment to fight groups so any and all criticism you have is invalid" - people that forget your forced into group fights in almost every quest
So true dude!!! 😂 Especially the trying to run away part... it's such a shame that the armor both looks historically realistic and ACTUALLY WORKS, but when the combat is this insulting, (not to mention, there is literally no blood/gore) it just ruins everything...
Getting gang banged is the worst. Also when focusing one 1 enemy while the 3 others are closer to me and giving me a beating to death is also annoying as hell
Didn’t mean to delete my comment lol. But yeah like i was saying. Warhorse Studios doesn’t like to admit it, but they forgot to add battlefield open world combat. Focused only on 1vs1 combat.

With combat it's best to Ignore everything after "Use Master Strike" because nothing else matters. It's the perfect weapon for every enemy. Faints are worthless, combos are even more worthless, and the only thing that matters is your reaction time for doing master strikes and your levels, levels are everything, Nothing else matters. What I especially feel nobody is talking about is how fucking annoying it is with how the AI acts in combat. They constantly feel the need to completely fucking suffocate you and make out with you constantly and get as close as humanly possible to your lips you can smell what they had for breakfast and you can’t see ANYTHING AT ALL. You can’t walk backwards and try and gain some distance so you can see all your enemies because they will just start Usain Bolt sprinting full speed ahead at you to try and close the distance back to make out town with you so they can block your view or run behind you while grappling, attacking, and parrying you from 5 different angles at the same time.
The combat was the only reason why I stopped playing this game. Like I couldn't defeat my first real enemy even after 20 times of trying repeatedly and I would just get pummeled while I can't even land a hit. I hope the combat in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will be better because it's just frustrating.
@@zueicidesin2573the lock picking is broken . Seriously. I've tried numerous times . Combat ..is like being in a tumble dryer with any more than 1 enemy .

I fall .... screen goes red ...camera shakes . Yea sod this . Hope the sequel addresses some of these issues.
the hardest thing about combat is the fact that the camera does not lock onto the target attacking you it just stubbornly always stay locked onto the one and only guy not attacking you. Another thing is the fact that for some reason that still escapes me is the fact that whenever you take out one enemy the game just ASSUMES your trying to exit combat so you are literally gauranteed to get hit with a tackle along with a three piece combo all because i killed an enemy. it doesnt matter if you have good defense and can handle lots of opponents if you kill one enemy the game just shafts you with a gauranteed tackle hit like im trying to run away and next thing you now im now low on stamina and will die if i dont block every attack comming forthwith. that is the only way i ever die in fights because i cant help the fact that the game doesnt auto lock on a new enemy after i kill one to remove this issue.
The problem I have with the combat is that it seems whenever I try to strike, the enemy has a seemingly random chance to block, parry or counter. This happens even when attacking an area they don't appear to be guarding and even when trying to feint. Maybe I just don't understand the combat, but I get the sense that the enemies are defending themselves the same way I do: by hitting the block or dodge button a split-second before an attack hits (Well, AI doesn't hit buttons but you get what I mean). If that is the case then I can't understand why they allowed enemies to do that. Computer-controlled characters have perfect reflexes where humans don't, so a mechanic like that is inherently unfair in the hands of AI. You can tweak the settings to ensure they don't do it that often, but that simply means it's totally random whether they'll do it or not. It's basically the same thing as the random miss chance seen in turn-based RPGs, but needlessly obscured. Again though maybe I'm misunderstanding, IDK.
The block system is just to badly designed. By pressing block , defender can block all 6 direction attack without considering how he was hodling his weapon when being attacked, which is stupid.
Yeah it comes down to the block skill of the opponent. Basically high level enemies will never let you get combos off on them, especially not 5 hit ones. Low level enemies that might keep their guard down and let you combo them tend to be light armored anyway and die in 1-3 hits. I've played the game for like 300 hours and beat it two and a half times and I don't think I have ever landed a full 5 hit combo, my second playthrough on hardcore I gave maces a shot early on and never looked back, just thwack everyone on the head and parry/dodge/counter your way to victory, combos are for pansies.
Yep I attempted the arena duels near the beginning of the game. I literally had multiple 1 hour fights because neither me nor the enemy could hurt each other. I could block and dodge and I didn't have the stats I dont think to hurt him. I've never seen such a dogshit combat system in all my life. I compare it to for honor but that games light years ahead of this. This is more like dayz combat. Which is dogshit.
the better combat and immersion mod addresses some of the issues by making masterstrikes only happen when the attacker and defender have mirrored zones. It also lowers the chances of masterstrikes a lot.
Lmfao i uave lvl 16 swords and lvl 14 warfare, lvl 15 strength, and lvl 11 agility and i still get master striked by peasants in rags. The combat system is absolute dogshit, the worst ive ever seen. I still like everything else, i just cheese combat by taking one of every beneficial potion in the game
Fighting 2 or more is practically a death sentence. Lock on is stupid. The block / parry never seems to work as intended since enemies can immediately block u and seem to have unlimited stamina. The bow is stupid af. Shoot someone in the back... completely fine like what?? Way to make trying to play stealth suck when its more viable than going toe to toe All they had to do was take mordhau's combat if they rlly wanted that deep combat system. OR chivalry's which is very beginner friendly but still satisfying Atleast I only payed $5. The story is the only saving grace.
The combat is what ruined this game for me, they should’ve added an option to change the way combat is for people like me who absolutely love the game but struggle with every fight. Definitely ruins the game for me not being able to be competitive in any combat situation.
Warhorse needs to fix where enemies will slide across the ground into your range when you're trying to space an attack, and there needs to be a dedicated lock on button. Also, having dodge be directional input + jump button would be a much more elegant solution.
The way they have you dodge in this game is by far the worst dodge I have ever seen in a videogame ever. Tap the stick at the right time? How hard is it to step backwards?
After a long long intro I finally get to the part where Theresa nurses you back to health. I made the mistake of asking her what happened... Now I am stuck playing as Theresa running around in the dark picking flowers to heal her brother while trying to avoid the Cuman. Sometimes the Cuman just decide to walk right up to Theresa's brother at the start of this section, meaning they just beat him and the silly weak girl to death. The worst thing is, I don't care about Theresa and know that nothing I do in this shitty part will have any impact on Henry's skills. I want to love this game, but the combat is just not good, every hit feels like I am swinging a wet noodle at an opponent who will just parry and perfect block every hit. I understand you start as a noob, just why the hell do I want to restart the starting section as a weaker noob (Theresa) to pick flowers in the dark with a dog who is meant to find them for you, but just keeps steeping in front of me every few seconds causing me to have to constantly walk around it.
My problem is that any time I manage to land a hit, it does basically nothing and my follow up gets reflected somehow, and every time they land a hit it results in an unblockable 5 hit combo that halves my health
Dude. Not once have I heard someone bring up For Honor when talking about medieval combat. It’s a shame that that’s the case because I think they do it the best out of any other game in the genre. I’m specifically taking into account the way that target switching works as well as how rewarding the combat is for the player. If this game played more like For Honor it’d be one of my top rpgs for sure, but the shoddy combat controls hold it back so heavily. Like, could you imagine being able to parry multiple attacks at once in this? It’d literally save so much time that you’d otherwise spend getting ass blasted by three guys at once. For Honor’s combat would’ve saved this game, man.
The point of this game is to be realistic tho, and realistically if you are on a 1v4 there is no way to survive that. Here you aren't some superhuman, you are just a peasent that knows how to fight. Don't get me wrong, it does have some issues but making it like for honor isn't the answer.
I hate the fact that I often am locked on one guy, the second one is beating me from the side, the third one is stabbing me in the back and the fourth doesn't know what to do, so he just runs around and gets in the way
Dude Ive been playing KCD again to get ready for KCD2 and holy fuck I forgot how Gods awful the combat in this game is. Seeing more than one enemy is enough to make you want to cry in frustration, and if they have one or more dogs? Forget it. Enemies have unlimited speed, stamina, master strikes, you cant ripsoste cause they recover too quickly, you cant combo because they instantly disable your combos with a single block, clinches dont work half the time, enemies can swing freely through each other or terrain but you get stuck on everything, you cant shoot they with arrows because the hitboxes for arrows in this game are fucking AWFUL, if theres at least 2 enemies theyll phase into you and job you, if you run out of stamina your FULL STEEL PLATE turns to fucking tissue paper. Idk what they were thinking with this Gods awful system. I dont think it can be fixed, there's too much broken with it.
Agree with everything you say, those people who defend this combat system by calling it realistic are just stupid. How is it realistic that the field of view is so narrow and you can’t move your head around to change focus on a certain enemy when you get swamped by them? How is it realistic that you can’t drink a potion when you’re in a fight? You could be running away from an enemy with at least one of yourhands free, yet you still can’t drink a potion until the enemy stops chasing you. This combat system is no doubt unique, and it has potential to be good, but it is also deeply deeply flawed to be very frustrating.
Whats worse is that a peasant, who is supposed to have ZERO knowledge of swordsmanship, can perform master strike at every hit and they also attack in groups with dogs and polearms on top of that.
This game is so " realistic" that when you sinked 3 to 5 arrows into enemies bodies and legs they still run faster then you and destroy you in melee fight. I wish Rockstar makes medieval games open world games. This game good at punishing players and waste time and energy, what a frustrating game, never have we played such a frustrating game that makes it so " realistically" boring and time consuming just over nothing.
@@zzodysseuszz I just gave up on the game for the final time due to the combat and utterly disgusting, broken state the game is. I spent like 2 hrs trying to beat the baptism by fire mission and I’m now officially done. I’ve never truely raged at a game before but I lost my shit playing this
5:33- Best way to take advantage of this is clunky but extremely effective- Open inventory, grab a maul or warhammer, unlock target as soon as you come out and just start swinging.
I know this is a 2 year old comment but Id like to add. I thought the sound of weapons hitting against foes was stupid. I didn't expect big crunching sounds or the tearing of flesh...but the impacts really do sound like your hitting everything with a stick. The material you smack, stab or clobber will obviously sound different upon impact but hearing what you impact sounding like its being hit by a stick is not fun.
@@cat_city2009no it doesn’t. Swords hitting people sounds like it did in Braveheart. THAT was realistic combat. Humans are made of meat, and when sword hits meat that’s how it sounds. Not a pathetic fart of a sound.
Reality: camera jumps around randomly, you keep getting locked into mini cutscenes and literally cant do anything but run but then they teleport into you and tackle you to the ground then you stand up, now an immortal dog appears out of nowhere that drains your stamina magically and now there is a little bush behind you which sends you teleporting into the sky, you fall, ankles break, camera randomly teleports between random targets, all you see is tree branches in your face and red screen. 10/10 combat. You then reload, appear an hour back into some quest you hated and now forced to repeat it (9/10 times it is traveling on empty fields to some place far away because fast travel is nowhere near) and now you know that all the combos you invested in skill tree will never be used at least once and you go again to fight that battle vs several enemies now playing as supposed to: don't attack, just go backwards and click when you see green icon. 10/10 COMBAT, now you are realistic medieval warfare xDD
Well the combat has not improved not even in 2022 and the autolock feature which literally turns you sometimes 180 degrees in the wrong direction to face an enemy you did not intent its still on. Not having control over combat and being controlled automatically in the unwanted direction makes the game unplayable.
I unistalled bc of this. Have you tried the baptism of fire mission? If you haven’t, I genuinely recommend either not doing it, abandoning the main quests entirely and doing ONLY side quests, or legit just uninstall the game, it’s absolutely horrid
@@CrowolffWe get it, you like the game. I do too. That doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge its considerable flaws, ones that could be addressed to make the game (and sequels) even better!

Just bought KCD on sale to see if I want to buy KCD2 when it comes out. Guess I play to many fast paced action games. Combat feels so boring and dull. The open world is awesome but the combat really kills it for me.
I do think combat against multiple people should be difficult and annoying. Even a peasant swarm should be difficult if your swarmed Enemies should use their allies to retreat and prevent a finishing blow and enemies should all be attackingnat the same time. The player to fight multiple people should require use of spacing and cc. The problem is the game doesn't provide effective controls to allow for spacing control, particullarly with thr magnetic lock on
But if you're fully encased in plate and mail armor, while wielding a huge axe (halberd in this case), you might actually have a big chance against multiple farmers. Even in real life.
The problem isn't difficulty, you can reliably kill a group of a dozen plate armored enemies on your own if you just backpedal and masterstrike, especially if using a mace The problem is that whether it's 1, 2, or 5 enemies, the system is incredibly passive and a slog. Winning every time and still finding the combat system to be terrible, swinging at an enemy is a trap, combos are a scam, directions and stances don't really matter, the tackles that spin you by enemies that you are currently facing is dumb... it's not hard, even in Hardcore it's not at all hard, it's just Backpedal + Masterstrike or else you're gimping yourself on purpose and that's not a good combat system for a game to have. If you try to play it cool and swing at the enemy you're just getting countered anyway
@@Imnot_abot blunt weapons are not really needed: a blunt strike to the torso would do nothing, and it can be better to target the joints with something pointy. Also, it becomes irrelevant once said knights is on the ground, hence why bills were popular. Poleaxes were the preferred weapons for a reason (ie, hammer head with a blade and a point), but they were more of knightly weapon than a peasant one.
I love medieval games but the combat system in this one made me stop playing. I gave it app. 60h: I absolutely love the setting and I absolutely hate the combat system. In the end I was cheesing every enemy, constantly running backwards and stinging them to death. I "arrowed" the first boss fight completely; just Legolas'ing him down. It was so boring. The rest of the game is absolutely awesome but I don't understand why they cannot give us the option to switch the combat system to mere button inputs. I get the point of the system but it makes the game unplayable for me. It's ok, sometimes a game isn't just for you. But it's sad.
Combos only work on enemies that are low level enough to be 1 or 2 shotted anyway. Strong opponents will never let you get a 5 hit combo off. It doesnt make swords useless, but it makes maces more appealing when the meta is: dodge and then overhead swing. Stabbing with longswords is very cheesable though
@@lanegillette Yeah, you start out with more sword levels so its an easy excuse to stick with them. They're not bad, stabbing is just as good as bonking people with a mace except the mace kills the late game enemies much faster because they're all wearing plate. Longsword is still good late game if you get one made for high stab damage, but if you're gonna use a shield I strongly advise using a mace. The shortswords and hunting swords are very underwhelming. Same with axes. Axes are okay against plate, but its kind of this wierd middleground kind of weapon that doesnt excel at killing low armor or high armor enemies- and low armor enemies still die in one overhead swing to the dome... so yeah. Not a lot of balancing done with the enemy types in this game
@@indiomoustafa2047 your wrong about short swords. For whatever reason they have a master strike that nukes health bars regardless of armor. Thats how i cheesed the high hell out of tournaments because everything else is a struggle.
@@michelaschIt really does get way easier (comically so honestly) when you get proper plate and brigandine armour. I'm at a point in my current hardcore playthrough (with all negatives) where enemies do next to no damage to me unless I royally screw up, even in groups. It still isn't very fun to fight groups, but with good armour you can master-strike and backpedal your way to victory without too great a fear of dying. Still, I save before every group fight as you can die super easily if the game bugs out on you and you get stuck in terrain, or if you take too many hits in a short amount of time.
I feel like there is another problem with the combat in this game. Ive experienced a lot the blocking just not work. They still manage to hit me even after i block where needed. I find it very frustrating taking damage even after i block.
The fact that most encounters in this game involves you being outnumbered and just completely screwed is not fun. Plus getting money to upgrade gear to die a little less slowly only for your gear to break and need more money is also tedious. It really diminishes the game
Not as victim, it is roleplaying a clicker game where camera randomly teleports while you look at little dot and wait for it to go green, then you click! Very fun gameplay!
I just don't like people saying the combat is realistic in this game. Taking too much realism destroys gameplay it self. Especially when fighting multiple enemies that has full armor. They would just tackle you wrestle you and others will stab you in your joints like in a medieval combat setting. A.I when attacking even when your running from will let the player force to turn his back to look at the enemy. Combat is like playing rock paper & scissors. Take for example other games that has some sense of realism in it and still fun to play e.g RD2 / Soulsbourne games / Monster hunter etc / Mordhau.
All enemies have the same amount of health though, regardless of armour. Seems to me it's the armour you have a problem with. You're essentially trying to cut your steak with a spoon when you coulda brought a steak knife for the job, which in this analogy means a mace. The reason that swords were a secondary weapon in real warfare is because armour hardly cares about cutting. You want to punch through it or you will be there all day. The right tool for the job and what not
enemies will still take 3-4 direct hits to the head with maces and besides, I used blunt combos with the sword and it was just as effective. The combat is broken.
Really this whole game was bad if you really played it and try to enjoy it you might have some fun but just the horrible combat and the BS that comes with it it's just unstable and how clunky moving around is the whole game is just clunky and bad this game is so hard to enjoy
On one sense it's amazing the progression, weapon choices, different attacks the works but half the time it doesn't work. Fighting multiple enemies is completely antithetical to the design of the combat. Yet we always get gangbanged. It doesn't feel well thought out. If you ever mention you have problems with it people insist it's a skill issue. Given how many have problems it isn't just that.
Skill issue lol. The same losers who think they achieved something by spending 1000 hours practising against bot bernard. In reality, they finally learned how to click Q after seeing a gren icon. Insane achievement. Normal people learn that in 1 minute and continue game. The problem for normal people is that they think they can use combos and other stuff found in skill selections. So they keep trying. And keep getting locked into unskippable cutscenes and die.
Agree 100%. Game combat system is TRASH. Especially the part where hand to hand combat - and your opponent has 730 health and you have 20. Makes no sense at all.
If anyone wants a fix for this, play with cheats installed so the game is playable and actually fun to play :) if you don't overdo it you won't be overpowered either.
Getting master strike by an enemy in a group fight are nonesense from design stand point. You want to punish anyone that circling around you and get in your weapon range. But you couldn't because if you do you get master strike and nothing you can do about it. And outnumber fight turn into back paddle and spam your own master strike.
KCD 2’s combat system needs to cut out or atleast have preventable master strikes so the combo system could flourish. That and a better lock on system would make the games combat 1000 times better than KCD
I wish they added practice fighting multiple people in the game when Captain Robard or Captain Bernard trains you. It would also help you get better in fighting multiple npcs
I completely agree! The combat system is trash. Everything I go to skalitz to get a treasure I see like 8 people fighting each other at the entrance of Skalitz. Then when I enter, everyone just look at me for a sec and fucking all of them push me without hesitation even though they are currently fighting each other. Once I ran away and tried escaping but no, 3 of them ran after me and killed me from behind. I think I won’t ever complete this treasure mission
There are many similar 'scenes' in other games where you come upon a battle of two separate parties - when this is done correctly, you won't get attacked unless you actually attack. But sure enough, while playing KCD, you need to stay far away from this battle because as soon as one person notices you standing there, they all stop fighting each other and start kill you.
@@contramachina354Bro, it’s fine to dislike the game’s mechanics, yet to claim that the game is “unrealistic” is just flat out wrong lol. Yea who would have thought a blacksmiths son couldn’t beat 7+ armed bandits in combat. Like dude, you aren’t playing as the Dragonborn, you’re literally a peasant turned squire…
My biggest issue with group combat is this one enemys just running into my face. Not like a tacke or longsword knockdown, but straight up run to close the distance up to you into your face, nose touching. NPC walking into a wall-style. Blocks the entire view, camera yanks to him while the rest just pummels you while you cant even see whats going on. If I could at least see something, I could try to masterstrike somebody. But not with facehugger McGee over here. Who masterstrikes me if I dare attack him.
hahah, that's exactly the combat in this game. You just can't attack and combos will never be used the entire game. All you can do is go backwards and click Q when green icon appears. Incredible gameplay and it seems they left the same combat in the sequel. Not sure if I will buy it at all.
Automatic soft-lock-on and camera restriction when in combat is the biggest known problem with the sequel right now. 2nd is the movement speed restriction when in combat. They need to get rid of both of these. Its not immersive nor realistic to hardfocus on only one person and not move faster than a brisk walk, *_especially now that Henry is an experienced man-at-arms.* As for masterstrikes. So far, the latest gameplay footage showed us nothing regarding it. They've hopefully done either of two things. 1. Got rid of it. Which is fine by me since the currently shown Perfect-Block -> Riposte from a different angle loop is dynamic and challenging enough while still being fair. OR 2. Unlike in the first game where masterstrikes can be performed on any attack. Masterstrikes in the sequel now need both the player and the enemy to be in the same zone to activate it. Attacking from a different zone means you nor the enemy can perform masterstrikes. This makes attack combos and feints actually useful not mention actually engaging now, rather than waiting for the enemy to move their shoulder and press L1/LB/Q.
@@DJWeapon8 For me it was enough to replace a config file regarding target lock, some moder changed some values and it makes the combat so much better using m&k. Also there is mod that removes tackles from game. With these two I at least decided to finish the story :D
The issue I've been having is the camera will glitch to where it is inside the characters body and I can break away to fix it. And it's like my right analog stick is not doing anything I make it do. Any help?
Yeah you are missing something big here. Imagine actually trying to SWARD fight 5 v 1? You are not gonna win that easily. So when you do pull it off in the game it's kind of crazy you managed to do it. You are not a Knight, not a noble, and not a bad ass worrier. You are a peasant playing as a Knight. That is the RPG. Everything is hard.
sure kingdom come deliverance has plenty of problems as it was originally intended to be a "startup" to war horse games. but the thing that I for one liked most about this game was the combat. yes there are bugs in this game that make it quite frustrating at times, but one thing that stays true is this: learning from your mistakes. combat against multiple people in real life shouldn't be a breeze and would be very confusing and disorienting. just as is the game. another thing i think is wrong about what you said about the combos is certain combos being worthless. I rank combos into 3 categories: 1: get away from me. this combo is usually used to push the enemy away or put them temporally out of the fight for your character to gain his bearings or deal with another enemy. 2: disabling/stunning. this type of combo basically ends up either making the enemy not able to complete certain actions as well, or lines up for a more devastating attack. 3: face strikes. face strikes are the type of combos that are meant for massive damage, and once performed correctly, the enemy has a great chance of going down quite quickly. the end game enemies are meant to be able to stop you from continuing a combo as they are actual rogue knights with formal training or still active knights in their prime. dodging sucks, I simply don't use it and instead simply back-pedal. the best way to deal with multiple enemies fighting you at once is 1: back pedal 2: escaping surroundings (running away) and 3: chipping down enemies and isolating enemies. never just swing wildly and don't ever use combos unless you are temporarily confronting one enemy/ only fighting one on one. master strokes and out-of-the-blue stabs are the best way while back pedaling and running away if you are surrounded. there will be times where you are surrounded and you try to run away and get hit in the back, get stun locked and then tossed around like a ping pong ball. this is countered with better armor and patience. (I just spam block when this happens and in the end you should get a master stroke or master parry to break this stun lock. also, learn to prioritize certain enemies. ranged first, then bosses, then the underlings. if impossible to do this just chip at their health. you should also pick a weapon class that feels the best for you and stick to it like glue. the mace class is best for going against the end game enemies. bailiff's mace can one shot them if you head shot 'em even without the head cracker perk. I really enjoy the short sword called the stinger. it can one shot fully armored knights if you stab em in the head. mostly found being carried by smiths that you can pick pocket or simply knock out and take. (one lives in Sasau and is the sword smith) if you wear full plate armor and put chain under and have padding as well, you should be able to out-tank every enemy before they kill you with ping-pong. so yeah follow all this and you will own every fight. long story short: be patient, learn from your mistakes and always have a cause and effect to your attacks. (I don't know why i posted this to a near year old video and to a dead game, but anyways. lol)
You cannot out learn getting stunlocked in a 1vX where the enemies have the same movement speed and whether they master strike you is determined by a % chance.
@@brendanthomas2543 would you ever even dream being able to defeat 10 evenly matched if not better people all attacking in sync with each other and you are just 1? I wouldn't. You aren't even supposed to be able to do that. But in pribislavitz (or whatever it is named) you face 10 or more people only if you choose to. You can go spy on their ass as a cuman, but just be careful. I for one have slaughtered pribislavitz multiple times over. On the PS4 version. I hate saying this but get gud is applicable here. Not only combat mechanics or your gear/abilities are things you need to watch out for, but simply running away if you are out numbered, or looking for a more advantageous place to stand your ground. Trying to split up your enemy is also a useful tactic. In short: you are letting yourself get into unwinnable situations instead of thinking tactically.
@@philipprudek9537 "Git gud" would imply that you can actually 1vX if you're good enough at the mechanics. I don't have a problem with not being able to beat 10 people at once, what is shit is that two farmers can stunlock a fully kitted knight. "Running away" isn't "giting gud" and half the time you can't actually run away because NPC's teleport to you when you turn your back. I am as good as is possible in this game, I've finished it twice, but the combat system wasn't build for 1vX's and it barely seems it was build for singleplayer at all.
When I enrolled in the rattan tournament when the quest first popped up and was fighting the second opponent, the fight took wayyy too long around almost 20 minutes and I can’t get any damage in. And then I thoguht to my self it’s so ridiculous. At least make the fight engaging, because I can never strike and actively hit the enemy I always waited for a parry and it takes so long for them to strike as well, and there’s no guaranteed damage too! Making the pace ridiculously slow. I’ve heard that it gets better later on but it’s just weird, either just let the enemy quickly finish me and tell me I’m not suited for the battle. Dragging the fight into 20+ minutes is just not it.

As long as their is no dog fighting multiple Opponents is actually pretty easy you dont need to Switch targets with the button to block just move your mouse quick in the direction of the attacking enemy as soon as you see them start swinging and press block+Attack and your fine
the fighting is a joke enimies literally parry or block or go sideways with every single attack i do an if i wait for them they take ages to iniate an attack its honestly ruining this game i have over 100 hours so far an not once have i ever been able to land a combo for some reason every single time i parry they instantly parry or block my first attack or they end up pushed back an i miss im thinking of just quiting this game i started playing i heard this was close to real life gaming but that is a complete lie
Just watching these clips the biggest issue I can see is that it's just so clunky. Like I get that you're starting super inexperienced but this is honestly insane. The Middle Earth games had a fantastic combat system especially when fighting captains and warchiefs on higher difficulty because they learn and improve as you use different tricks on them
My issue is I rush into a fight to help some guards against a group of enemies. As soon as I engage in combat with one of them, EVERY other enemy comes after me only. It’s like the guards don’t even exist anymore like wtf.
You forgot to mention that the guards also start fighting you. In one quest you go with a comrade old knight and end up in a miningshaft fighting a group of enemies. The guy just turns against you mid fight and few minutes later you realize that he is nowhere to be found. Go back to check bodies, and yes, there he lies dead together with bandits xDD
@ He didn’t turn on me. You may have accidentally hit him during the skirmish. He already wanted to fight you previously so there must be a mechanic where he can turn on you if you hit him during the quest

The game sucks IF you're playing on a PC WITH NO CONTROLLER. You NEED a thumbstick for this game's design, especially in combat, put also in Lockpicking and other minigames in the game. This game NEEDS to be experienced with a 2-thumbstick controller setup. Also, you can design your character with perks and sharpened weapons to shatter and destroy armor very quickly, and use strategy to damage the enemies sword arm to reduce their threat level and crowd-control large groups of enemies.
Went from playing KCD on PS5 to PC and good lord the difference in difficulty, I swear to god its as though PC has a completely different combat software to the PS5 version, on PS5 although you still get ganged on in a buggy mess by AI your weapons at least did damage but on PC if you're against a guy in full plate even if you're using a hammer you may as well give up.

With combat it's best to Ignore everything after "Use Master Strike" because nothing else matters. It's the perfect weapon for every enemy.

I fall .... screen goes red ...camera shakes .
You're so right.
yeah is too bad, they don't have an opportunity to block and magically he block
love it when the title hints a solution, but there being none...
the better combat and immersion mod addresses some of the issues by making masterstrikes only happen when the attacker and defender have mirrored zones.
It also lowers the chances of masterstrikes a lot.
Agreed every single point you said and I really hope they fix the combat system in kcd 2
And let's not forget how enemies can push you away while standing 2 meters away
Fighting 2 or more is practically a death sentence. Lock on is stupid. The block / parry never seems to work as intended since enemies can immediately block u and seem to have unlimited stamina. The bow is stupid af. Shoot someone in the back... completely fine like what?? Way to make trying to play stealth suck when its more viable than going toe to toe
All they had to do was take mordhau's combat if they rlly wanted that deep combat system. OR chivalry's which is very beginner friendly but still satisfying

their game design is ridiculously horrible
Warhorse needs to fix where enemies will slide across the ground into your range when you're trying to space an attack, and there needs to be a dedicated lock on button. Also, having dodge be directional input + jump button would be a much more elegant solution.
The way they have you dodge in this game is by far the worst dodge I have ever seen in a videogame ever. Tap the stick at the right time? How hard is it to step backwards?
I really hope they're moving away from this cluster fuck of a failed experiment combat system in the second game.

Totally agree 💯 and it's a shame because if it had a good combat system, I'd have completed it, but I got too bored and frustrated with it to do so.

Basically the enemy ai masterstrikes 100 percent of the time rendering all attacks useless all you can do is masterstrike them back
Getting grabbed from the horse when you pass full speed far away they still pull me off
Well the combat has not improved not even in 2022 and the autolock feature which literally turns you sometimes 180 degrees in the wrong direction to face an enemy you did not intent its still on.

I do too. That doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge its considerable flaws, ones that could be addressed to make the game (and sequels) even better!

i really want to like the game but i just hate the combat it feels so unfair
and sure being gang fucked by a group of guys is unfair sure
but i feel like im some drunk who cant do anything
Combat be like you holding a camera and can only react to one peraon 🤦
Just bought KCD on sale to see if I want to buy KCD2 when it comes out. Guess I play to many fast paced action games. Combat feels so boring and dull. The open world is awesome but the combat really kills it for me.
I do think combat against multiple people should be difficult and annoying. Even a peasant swarm should be difficult if your swarmed
Enemies should use their allies to retreat and prevent a finishing blow and enemies should all be attackingnat the same time.
@@O.LEO.N no in reality, a knight in plate armour could be easily killed by a horde of peasants, especially if those peasants had blunt force weapons.
@@Imnot_abot You've got a VERY good point!
The problem isn't difficulty, you can reliably kill a group of a dozen plate armored enemies on your own if you just backpedal and masterstrike, especially if using a mace
The problem is that whether it's 1, 2, or 5 enemies, the system is incredibly passive and a slog.
@@Imnot_abot blunt weapons are not really needed:
a blunt strike to the torso would do nothing, and it can be better to target the joints with something pointy.
I stabbed my way though the whole game LMAO... The arena was so fucked because I only had sword leveled :(
@@lanegillette Yeah, you start out with more sword levels so its an easy excuse to stick with them.
2:35 bro, just make it manual lock on like in soul games, why so complicate ?
This describes why I reluctantly stopped playing the game
It gets easier to the point where the game will be laughable easy.
@@Ma1q444I really hope you are right, right now I am delaying to start nest of vipers quest because I suck at fighting 😂😂😂😂
@@Ma1q444it only gets easier if you get better at the game. A lot of people just have terrible skills
You can get that money back though 😂😂

Enemies master striking is so unfun and this came was clearly designed for duels, not 2v1. Fighting 3 people is just roleplaying as a victim
Not as victim, it is roleplaying a clicker game where camera randomly teleports while you look at little dot and wait for it to go green, then you click! Very fun gameplay!
I so wanted to like this game, but the combat is absurdly bad. It's the one and only thing that stopped me from playing it through.
I don't wanna play that game only because of the combat system. It sucks
literally tho
This makes Skyrim’s combat look like a masterpiece.
I wish that you could freely move around without locking on and be able to parry only, allowing you to freely look around and parry more effectively
I wasted $8 on this game I should have look at youtube about review about this game.
@@catalyst772 I often 1 hit them with a mace, but it's definitely broken, can't use any technique just spam mace
Even with the jank of the 1v1 combat, I think the premise was really good. Battles on the other hand are ridiculous.
Really this whole game was bad if you really played it and try to enjoy it you might have some fun but just the horrible combat and the BS that comes with it it's just unstable and how clunky moving around is the whole game is just clunky and bad this game is so hard to enjoy
If this game had chivalrys combat system it'd be 100x better
@@gdgd5194 good chance the vast majority of these "skill issue" tryhards are playing heavily modded versions of KCD1.
One way for me to deal with multiple foes is riding my horse and go full Genghis Khan with my bow 😂
It's guards fighting bandits, just wait until they deal with them and ur fine.
@@TheDennys21 Who spawns there is random, I find usually it's cumans against heavy armoured bandits, and the cumans always lose
this is the same exact point i put down the game - the game is NOT realistic, it just sucks due to developer negligence/incompetence
Its not immersive nor realistic to hardfocus on only one person and not move faster than a brisk walk, *_especially now that Henry is an experienced man-at-arms.*
As for masterstrikes. So far, the latest gameplay footage showed us nothing regarding it.
They've hopefully done either of two things.
1. Got rid of it. Which is fine by me since the currently shown Perfect-Block -> Riposte from a different angle loop is dynamic and challenging enough while still being fair.
OR
Any help?
Had to delete the game because of the combat
It is very bugged but the sound and sights are so clutch, the hits feel good. Even tho it’s broken af
I regret buying this game because of how tedious and unnecessarily punishing the combat is.
Summary of the Video: Just press "Shift"
sure kingdom come deliverance has plenty of problems as it was originally intended to be a "startup" to war horse games. but the thing that I for one liked most about this game was the combat. yes there are bugs in this game that make it quite frustrating at times, but one thing that stays true is this: learning from your mistakes. combat against multiple people in real life shouldn't be a breeze and would be very confusing and disorienting. just as is the game. another thing i think is wrong about what you said about the combos is certain combos being worthless.
(I don't know why i posted this to a near year old video and to a dead game, but anyways. lol)
Would love to see this game get a sequel. It’s crazy that it started as a kickstarter project.
@@jimmyisrustled I agree. I hate that they ended it the way they did. with such a anticlimactic cliff-hanger. it still irks me to this day.
I think this game shouldn’t have a lock on system should of had a combat system similar to chivalry and mount and blade.
Yep. Spot on. Loved the game, combat made me uninstall

As long as their is no dog fighting multiple Opponents is actually pretty easy you dont need to Switch targets with the button to block just move your mouse quick in the direction of the attacking enemy as soon as you see them start swinging and press block+Attack and your fine
Backpedling endlessly FTW
the fighting is a joke enimies literally parry or block or go sideways with every single attack i do an if i wait for them they take ages to iniate an attack its honestly ruining this game i have over 100 hours so far an not once have i ever been able to land a combo for some reason every single time i parry they instantly parry or block my first attack or they end up pushed back an i miss im thinking of just quiting this game i started playing i heard this was close to real life gaming but that is a complete lie
So to sum it up, you can't disable the auto lock on?
