ticktockyo2 Thats what people with schizophrenia and other mental illnesses face. Either you take your meds and become a dull subdued shadow of yourself, or you hallucinate in the public and get arrested. It's a no win life.
@@sunnyday7699 i understand where you are coming from but there are other ways instead of imprisonment. This character was obviously very instable but most people with a mental illness arent this far gone
I had never seen OITNB before and I was over St my friends and they were watching it so they filled me in on what had happened already and we started watching season 4. Why did they start me off by watching season 4?😭😭
An accurate portrayal of how the mental health system works in this country. Most of them are just locked up in prisons instead of getting them the help they need.
One of the main reasons is that to lock u up cost the tax payers money they can do that without u having medical to stay in a Pshyc hospital an actual hospital is a lot of money we are talking 100,000 a day not the state run facilty an actual place with therapy and meds not only drugging people it comes down to money I have been to mental hospitals for depression aniexty suicidal ideation I have also been incarcerated before I got insurance I was charged and convicted of a felony due to not having proper mental health treatment then I was incarcerated
ludarcis behavior I have also had my down parts in my mental health, I have schizoaffective disorder, and when they happened I was so terrified I’d end up in a place like this. Thankfully when I finally told my parents they got me help even on a health trial that gave me free psychologist sessions along with doctors sessions and pills that were extremely helpful in my worst times. Watching Lolly’s story play out I couldn’t stop crying because if she had just had the right people around her to see her spiral then she wouldn’t have to be going through this right now. Same with people in real life. I’m so thankful for living in New Zealand.
Season 4 was seriously so depressing... like, more depressing than it had to be at some points. Almost every individual story/plot ended with an innocent character meeting some sort of miserable fate :(
y u n o including Pousseys death, Dogget's rape, this scene, Alex's murder, Piper being branded.. etc etc, this was literally the darkest season of the show 😧
People say that episodes 12 and 13 are the saddest but episode 11 should also be included. To see Mr Healy deteriorate and completely break down was difficult to watch as we have known him as this cold, cowardly figure for far too long. This was a very, very difficult episode for me to watch and I felt every inch of the sadness and helplessness portrayed by both characters. Amazingly well done as was the whole season.
I agree 100% I don't know how to feel about him. one moment I hate him, another moment I feel bad for the guy and just wanna give him a hug. he's a tragic character to say the least
It's a testament to how complex all the characters are. They all have both bad sides and good sides for the most part. Healy wasn't perfect, he could be an ass and then turn around and try to be a good guy. Now that I look back maybe it's because he was dealing with mental illness himself, like a manic depressive or bi polar. He really tried to help Lolly, he's heartbroken.
@@ChaseSanity yup it shows what people are really like in the world. Every person is not good or evil like black or white. Its all greys. People have good in them and they can also be bad too. Shout-out to the show for showing the com0lexity of human psyche. There is no one villain or one hero.
He tried to save her like he tried to save his mother but he failed... and he has lost himslef too. We knew what was going to happen, we saw the fall step by step and that was so heartbreaking :(
+Farhaana Beato so true, I have a daughter, with my partner's genetics, but it does skip generations etc. and also, remember, knowledge is power girl. Don't let yourself be consumed by the fear that you will, also become that way. Some people can be fine, and drugs or alchohol or trauma or all the above, can bring it out. stay true to you girl 🌹
This really left me empty. That's horryfying with the woman screaming and Lolly yelling for Healy.... That's.... It... I can't describe the feeling....
It hurts me to think about how underrated this scene is. Everybody talks about Poussey's death being such a tear-jerker, and that it is. But this scene is so powerful to anyone who knows someone who suffers from mental disabilities and has attended such a hellish environment. Watching someone you KNOW is a good person, completely lost and confused, getting hauled away like an animal for feelings they didn't ask for and cannot control. I'm an actor, and whenever a director wants me to cry on the spot, this is one of my favourite scenes to channel.
YellowFreak I didn't cry when she died. I was sad, but I didn't cry. Maybe it was because it was the first season and I hadn't really gotten attached to any of the characters yet. I don't now. I remember being really mad at Mendez for forcing her to sell the pills, but I didn't cry.
I just completed watching this episode and I must say : season 4 Ep 11 was the most tough & difficult night of Litchfield . I never expected this show to take such a dark turn.
This scene has made me cry multiple times. Lolly doesn’t know she may have problems, but she doesn’t deserve that. She’s such a sweet scared person who is helpless and alone even from the beginning
Lolly and Healy were the two best characters in season 4! Lolly needs to come back as she didn't actually kill the guy and is brilliantly entertaining, and I used to hate Healy but he has redeemed himself so well since the season 2 finale! Both are amazing actors and need to come back
Man you say that dudes face he was destroyed inside. I could not imagine working in such a place. The pay isn't even that good either and the pain isn't worth it.
Lori Petty has been one of my favourite actresses since I was a kid. I fell completely in love with her in tank girl when I was a child. She was the first female movie character that I had an actual crush on and showed me I wasn’t straight. It doesn’t surprise me that she was able to portray her character so well making it so easy to connect with her and be emotional for her. She is a blessing to this world and I adore her. So much love for Lori

One thing I love about this show is how many layers the characters have. It makes them more real. Most real people aren't "bad" all of the time, and they're not "good" all the time. Mr. Healy is often ignorant, bigoted, manipulative, and a host of other unpleasant things. But occasionally he has a scene where you can see that he truly does care about the inmates and really wants to make a difference. He is not really a bad guy, he's just misguided. He tried so hard to help Lolly.
I just left the mental health field, I couldn’t keep watching my clients work so hard towards getting better and then be failed by the health care system and end up in places like this ( mental hospitals are like this too) where all of their work would be undone with the added debt of their stay, i would stay up for nights worried about the people I was trying to help, i relate to Mr. Healy so much in this scene
I just watched this scene omg!! I loved them both! 😭 Mr Healy was so patient and understanding making Polly feel like what she was thinking was right! Mr Healy relates to her and understands her and is really understanding. Then when Polly realises he stands there heartbroken!!! 😭 He looked how I felt omg!! His job is extremely hard and he’s trying to help these girls but he’s trapped like them between what he feels and what is required from his job! Sooo damn sad tho!! Poor Polly and Healy fr

Season 4 was so good. I loved every episode. Full of drama and a touch of light heartedness here and there. For me Alex and Nicky really shone this series, as did Pennsatucky. However, kudos to Lori Petty who plays Lolly. She was so good this season with her mental illness and the way she portrayed it. What started out as a funny, crazy character soon turned into someone deeply disturbed and played so so well by her. This scene and the previous ones leading up to it were so well acted I found it to be difficult but compelling viewing
One of the first scenes with Lolly when Piper meet her on the plan is excellent, which was one of my personal favourite moments with her, anyway, from there you got a good insight for the character, which had a lot warmth and goodness, despite her mental issues.
The papers in the trash can weren't all burned, people will find the papers and Lolly will be brought back! Especially now everyone is saying how good Lori Petty's performance was
