If you grate a granny Smith apple into strawberries and cook it together it will gel up faster and really doesn't leave Apple flavor. Apple's are natural gel

I just made your recipe on 01/28/2022.
I watched your video a gang of times since I’ve never done a SSC in my 37yrs on earth.
I did the following:
Strawberry Compote
2lbs of Rinsed & Dried Strawberries
3/4 Cup of Sugar
2 Teaspoons of Pure Lemon Juice
**Simmer for 15 - 20 minutes stirring occasionally until juices release. Then let sit away from heat for 15 - 20 mins**
Whipped Cream
1 QT Heavy Whipping Cream
2 Teaspoons of Vanilla Extract
3/4 Cup of Powdered Sugar
***Freeze bowl and mixer for 30 minutes first***
Then whip together whipping cream and vanilla extract for about 15 - 20 minutes until peak.
Slowly fold in powdered sugar. Sweeten to taste.
Cake
Pound Cake from scratch OR buy a Walmart, Publix, Kroger or Ingles Lemon Pound Cake or Regular Pound Cake w/o Icing. (I bought my cake from Ingles)
Cut cake into squares
Layer cup/bowl/container with cake 1st, cream 2nd, strawberries 3rd. Repeat to desired height
This was AMAZING!

Ohh girl you are the bomb!! The only suggestion I have for this is put the compote on the cake so it can soak in the juices. And I put the powdered sugar in the whipping cream before I mix it but BABY your videos are so good omg thank you for being amazing
That's how i make mine, and I always get 3 layers from the same size bowl...but I put it together (layer it) just before I serve it, I love Soulfult and everything she does...I am 80 and have cooked all my life..she is the BEST!

Wow I just came across this channel for the first time and I'm so glad I did. Everything about this video was beautiful. Finally a real woman in a real kitchen, recorded by her nephew who you can tell she loves. Shes so focused on making a delicious treat for her loved ones and making sure everyone has more than enough. She made a comment about " making the kids french toast tomorrow" you can tell this woman loves her family and she is loved. I wish you all the success and happiness in the world! Btw I will be making this exact dish tomorrow step by step. I'm glad I found a channel with some real food!

I enjoy your videos and like the fact your teaching not only people but young girls like me how to not only cook but to cook the old school way. Your recipes are very simple and really don't take no time and your steps are easy to follow and doesn't take much money to make its very affordable. I'm the only girl in my family of cooks that don't know how to actually cook I can cook somethings but I would like to get better. My grandma and aunts are getting old and they hands don't work like they use to so we don't get alot of Thanksgiving food on the regular anymore. Your recipes has allowed me to continue to carry on tradition and I'm thankful! Your by far the best I've seen and for you not to be up there with Emerald, Rachel Ray, ect your really good. People should continue to support you. If Patti Labelle can sell that nasty sweet potato pie then your recipes and your cooking for sure would go far. God Bless ❤

Angel Food cake would NOT work for this, it would soak up all the juice and fall apart. It would be a hot mess, you need a more dense cake like pound cake. Thanx for this recipe SoulfulT!!
