I think it’s the chicken/egg phenomenon. Most guitars aren’t made with the P90/mini-humbucker routing. Those relatively few that are, get the soapbar P90s. Guitars with mini-humbuckers are hard to find and play BEFORE buying so it’s usually a bit of leap of faith. And then they don’t sell as well, so mfgrs are less inclined to make them, which continues the problem. And on. And on I’m hoping it will change, moving forward.
Great Video My first Gibson was a Deluxe in cherry sunburst, I bought it new in 77 , unfortunately I ended up modifying it yrs later, then ended up selling it. But now.. I have 3 newer ones and they are my favorite ones Cheer’s 🎸🎸🎸
Nice guitar accompanied by some nice playing...much better definition on the mini-humbuckers; full-size PAFs are too muddy for my tastes on a Les Paul. Thanks for uploading, and, for the demo.
I found a 1973 gold Greco in a used shop, and the prior owner had swapped out the knobs for Gibson knobs and covered the Greco logo with a Chicago (the band) sticker. 😄 It's a great guitar, copy or no.
Listen to Barry Bailey play his trusted Deluxe on almost all Atlanta Rhythm Section recordings and you are hooked for life. I still play my new bought '79 deluxe LH , and will never trade it for anything else.
I have the same guitar. My Deluxes has 'pancake' build....a 4 layer sandwich body (top maple, mahogany, then a sliver of maple, then mahogany back) The neck is made from three strips of mahogany. It sounds bright for sure but does lack sustain. Pete Townshend used them By 74 or 75 Gibson Deluxes were solid mahogany with maple tops ...probably sound different. Oh ..and the nitro cellulose wears off the neck

I had one just like it. I remember the day I bought it I had a choice between it and a 1969 GT that some had real PAF’s professionally installed in it. The ‘69 had mostly turned green in spots. They were the same price but the ‘73 was all original and mint so I bought it. This was in 1985. I was 19 and bought it with my first real tax check. It cost me $500 from a mom & pop! I sold it to my friend who was a big Eddie fan and routed it for a Floyd. No lie.
Love the Deluxe. Great Demo.
I sold these brand new in the early '70s! I loved them then, still do; and great tone and playing!
For sure the BEST GUITARS & playing in the game.
Really a nice sound. Well documented here. Good playing all around.
Beautiful playing! Killer LP Deluxe.
It's a very beautiful guitar !!
I prefer mini humbuckers. I'm surprised more people don't!
I also love the minis but I think that many people are looking for the greater output from the full-sized pickups when it comes Les Pauls.

I have a 78. It’s my number one. Was my birthright. I will die with it in my collection. My sons will fight over it. Lol.
I also have a 78 Deluxe "Black Beauty"... It's been my number 1 for 45 yrs. I will be buried with it
@@GordiansKnotHere Dude...Such underrated guitars!
Love it
Scott Gorham played many tasty solos using a Cherry Sunburst Deluxe in Thin Lizzy during the 70s

I also bought a 79 deluxe new, and still have it. It’s still one of my most prized possessions.👌
The sound of this LP is not too different than that of my Agile AL2000. Very nice!
Sure. And the earth is flat
@@ilmisxx2 LOL, I said the same thing...

Back when Gibson was putting out better guitars than the garbage they sell now.
Mini humbuckers meh
