@@TheMahonj Even 3d now to me doesn't hold up or look as good to this era. For me at least. I saw the new Sonic and Mario 2d style games mixed with 3d coming this fall and while they look great I still see Super Mario World, Sonic 1-3 , Super Mario 3 and they look great
@@dannynhl9441 I agree. 90’s 2D was the best. Early 3D was awful, so modern 3D is better than that but that’s not saying much. I’d still choose 90’s 2D over it all.
@@TheMahonj I will say some early 3d is nostalgic to me. I love the look of Twisted Metal 2 and Bushido Blade on PS1. Tobal holds up really nice for 3d fighter from 1997 too.

I remember my first introduction to SF2 back in 1991 was a VHS tape of someone's gameplay of the arcade version. I think one of my brothers bought it at a night market. I rewatched that VHS tape so many times , I never got a chance to play the Arcade version but I remember playing the NES version at my friends house. I did get the Super SF2 version later on the mega drive.
Over 30 years later and the art style still holds up. Absolutely beautiful game. Timeless. It'll never be topped in its simplistic beauty.

The art of this era of games was extremely attractive to the eye, far more so than the early 3D that would come soon after.
