  • The all new Ford Ranger Raptor has excited the midsize truck buyers with great looks and big power. The little brother to the F150 Raptor is exciting to drive but Dave and Kelly have some thoughts on the truck after living with it for 3 months. Its Hyper loop time for the truck! The 40 mile trip will push the Ranger to the limits of MPG's.

I liked it. In my 2019 Raptor, i averaged 17.5. I expect more than that out of the RR, mostly country driving so its like 90% highway.

I just got mine about three weeks ago and drove it on a two hour trip and cruised around 75 to 80 and got 20mpg with it.

Just need some people's thoughts and opinions. Looking to upgrade to a truck from a midsize SUV. The bed will come in handy as we work to renovate our house, and soon starting a family. At the moment have little towing needs (Jet Skis) and am tired of borrowing my in laws Ram. I do make decent money as a pharmacist, but that doesn't mean I just want to spend unnecessary money. I have been looking at the ranger (XLT Sport, with Tech/Tow Package) as it seems it has the styling I like and good back room in the back. I've also seen videos showing car seats and it seems fine. I'm 5'10" and wife is even shorter so won't be a problem. My only question is XLT F150's are around 52-55 as well. Is that worth the extra space/value? Am I crazy?

I would test drive both.. Full size trucks are harder to store in a garage but offer more room and better towing. The midsize truck still offers good towing and can be stored in a garage

Pretty good fuel economy for that type of truck.

Looked like you were going pretty easy to try and coax that number but I guess that is still fair. Still on the fence pulling the trigger on one of these.

    Very interesting.
Granted I now have 10 ply 34” tires on mine, but I rarely see more the 16-16.5 which happens to be near identical milage to my SAS 2dr Bronco.
On the 5hr trip home the day I bought my Ranger Raptor, I did see 20 mpg. Not seen it since. lol

Yep. I have owned a lot vehicles over the years, well into the triple digits now.
This thing has to be one of the most fun to drive vehicles I have ever owned. I do look forward to driving it, and driving it hard is addictive.
It really is fun to drive.
Only thing that I think would make the experience even more fun is a the rumble of a coyote v8 under the hood.
The turbo 6 is cool and love the power, just missing that v8 rumble.
Other than that I think it’s one of the best light duty trucks out there, and easily the best in the mid-size class of light duty trucks.

I have been able to get up to 20 mpg with part city and part flat freeway at 75 mph. Can do 17 in town driving like grandma. Normal i get what you do 15 or 16 mph. Finished Raptor Assault 2 weeks ago. It was a blast and this truck is awesome. Just like my Polaris Sportsman only in a mid sized pickup truck.

As soon as '25s are available to order, will be ordering one. Bronco has been excellent but just time to move on.

Great review on the Raptor! Does not surprise me my last F150 would get 27 mpg from Pittsburgh to OBX going 75 to 85

Clearly you do not get our “Hyper” loop. To make you feel better we drove to detroit last week from Nashville and averaged 20.3
Our hyper loop is to see the most extreme MPGs we can get on a repeatable course
