    I love the description, very on-brand with the Logan pfp.
    I'm fairly new to ADV, and these videos are really helpful to a guy who wants to improve. I've actually been having issues with using DDTar myself, and part of it is obviously my lack of skill and experience, but I feel like many of these points really resonate with me. Every single time I run a DDTar I sorely miss having the early-game power of Band or MixTar. The "ruining it by switching it into a seemingly innocuous move" point was also huge, I really hate how frail a Pokemon with 100/110/100 defenses can feel when Duggy kills it from 95% and half of the meta either outspeeds it or avoids the 2HKO and just gets to attack Tar while it's trying to set up or break through.
    I want to be rewarded with a near-guaranteed 60% smack on a wall if I make a good prediction and get Tyranitar in on something like a resisted hit from Banded Aero, Mence, or Gross. If I explode with my Metagross or my Claydol or my Gengar or whatever, I want to send something in that can immediately exert pressure against whatever gets sent out by my opponent after the double down.
    That's just me rambling, but the point is that your videos are really informative, and your way of thinking about and explaining the game really makes the information itself shine. At its core, this content is thought-provoking, and I think that thought-provoking is the best thing that a competitive Pokemon video can be. Keep up the amazing work.

    I always wish -spa +spe nature was called something different. I hate spending serious time on an offensive team for me to wind up calling a deadly sweeper 'jolly'. Impulsive or fleat would've been much better

  • @alexmccullough1961
    @alexmccullough1961 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    A more constructive comment: in game theory, this situation is called a dominated strategy. A dominated strategy is where the outcome of your decision is determined by someone else. With all these different sets, you don't know how good it is until that decisive moment of sweeping or not sweeping comes

    Hey BKC, I have been enjoying your videos a ton during this week! Im motivated to try and play ADV OU.
    I have some question related to DD Tar.
    1.- Why dont try to support it with Safeguard? Like from a Milotic or another support. That way it can use leftover
    2.- If dugtrio is a problem, why not pir it with Porygon2? As far as I know, Porygon 2 is use to trap Dugtrio and KO it, so you can free your team easily.
    3.- Lanturn can be use in offensive teams since it counter Starmie, right? Wouldn´t that mean DD Tar and Lanturn could be best friends? Yeah, theres an obvious Celebi-Earthquake problem, but i could be wrong.
    Keep going!

    Would love to see a recent thoughts about Moltres. Sub Punch Breloom with Charcoal Moltres has been a very potent offensive duo on or off spikes.

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      do you mean more recent than the moltres video I did a few months ago? because I don't think there have been any major developments since that one. I don't think charcoal is necessary btw - lefties is too crucial otherwise you just get sand stalled

    • @manythanks2
      @manythanks2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BKCplaysPokemon slipped through my sub box thanks. i have only been putting charcoal on my moltres because it can really pressure blissey but it requires team building around having much fewer pivotting into grass/fire/steel moves. I'll check to see if you mention it in the vid. Sunny Day/Fire Blast/HP Grass/Morning Sun (or Overheat) seems to be my most viable non lefties set.

  • @DantinozMC
    @DantinozMC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now I'm not an expert or even nearly as familiar with ADV OU as you are, but I use DD Ttar as a late game sweeper, not switching it in very often, just having it safely in the back, and when you notice their team has no way of stopping a DD sweep, you bring it out on any free turn and end the game.
    (I use Jolly + Hp Bug with Lum). Like I said, I'm not sure if this is the best way to use it or what not. Not having a 6th pokemon for use during most of the battle is definitely a detriment, but having this win condition that they have to keep a check to, or they lose, seems to work sometimes.

  • @CubeBizz
    @CubeBizz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Speaking of TTar, how good was the tyrani-boah set? I remember stumbling upon it when I was in my early teens and was amazed by how specialized and optimized that set was, but was it actually used?

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      classic boah (crunch tbolt focus punch) has been outdated for nearly a decade and a half - it was originally made to counter the popular stall teams of the day which featured both donphan and dusclops. it was eventually displaced by purely physical subpunch tar - also known as viltar, after veteran in love - with rock slide and hp bug, though some guys like g80 occasionally used hp grass. that set is a lot generally stronger and still threatening today, but lost widespread popularity post-netbattle as the "sub blocks rapid spin" glitch was fixed on po. plus, pursuit tar was becoming the new standard. in more modern times, some players have tried a new boah set with fire blast and hp grass as the coverage, and it's quite strong. lack of coverage can suck, but it's got a ton of surprise factor that leaves the opponent scrambling to check it. plus, it's a lot less vulnerable to dugtrio and doesn't risk a 1v1 against bliss going wrong (as long as it doesn't switch into toxic of course).

    Great video Kevin but i feel you're ignoring how physical offenses with salamence and metagross help weaken pert, as well as methods to overwhelm duggy. The more duggy is out the higher likelihood it can be killed by your own duggy if it picks anything but earthquake

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the issue with those physical offenses that they are actually not too good at reliably weakening pert (especially with dugtrio/zapdos/moltres pairings to thwart a potential hp grass metagross) and it just tends to live all game and blank tar/mence at the end. meh. it's partially a playstyle thing but it very much feels like those teams are clawing back and trying to survive way more often than they're on the front foot.

    Hey man, why doesn't ADV have an RU consodering the massive BL? I'm not expecting no BL mons at all, but wouldn't that provide a healthy meta shift and inject some life into it?

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ru didn't exist until bw. past gen lower tiers aren't gonna get more active just because they were shaken up - that's not sustainable anyway. natural meta shifts are way healthier than dropping stuff down just for the sake of variety, and those happen among the small communities who do still play stuff like adv uu
