Hi from sunny South Africa..I love your beach walks and great shell finds..We recently relocated to Umzumbe, KZN and live right by the ocean now. This is the only place where I can really relax..We don't have an Abundance of shells here, but we get lovely ones now and again.. I have found a few lovely Cowries. I just love your giant Clam and scollop shells..I do crafting as a hobby and those shells would work wonderful for what I have in mind..I have already learnt so much about shells from you by watching your videos..I especially like your tip about the mineral oil for sea glass..Yes...I have picked up quite a few pieces..And I am going to try your Polyurethane tip for the other shells as well..Thank you for a very informative channel. I would love to go to Cape May (I think that's the name?) To see the great white sharks breach! That would be a dream trip! I love that you live near a beach and that you can find cowries too! That is a shell I have never found and I would love to find! Their shells are so glossy because when they extend out of their shell, they cover the entire shell and have little arms/branches that come out and clean all the algae off - constantly polishing and cleaning the shell. So amazing! I hope to find one myself someday. I love that you craft too! I love shell/ beach art! Thank you again for coming along on all my beach adventures!!

We live in Buffalo and find tons of lake glass and interesting rock finds living off Lake Erie. Love the hunt!! Keep up the great work.
Hi Matt! Yes - I am getting ready to do another giveaway! I am hoping next week to add one before my beach hunt! I think they are fun :) - YES! That bottle was such an awesome find. It was my 1st fully intact bottle find! I am hoping to go back to that beach as there were a lot of very cool things there. I need to explore more. Oh! I have never heard of lake glass! I love this - I am going to google and research it. Is it frothy like sea glass or does the fresh water change the look and feel of it? Also, thank you sooooo much for watching!
@@PlumIslandSeaCabin it looks exactly like sea glass honestly. It's smooth and frothy looking just the same. We get big waves just like the ocean since the lake is huge. You wouldn't even know the difference. Have to call it lake glass though because it is from the lake😉
That's awesome! I googled it and yes, it looks exactly the same. I would have thought that the salt content from the ocean would have made the sea glass look frothier, but looks very similar! I am adding that to my list of things to find someday! 🌊✌

I use to live by a big ocean beach when I was young and I'd sing as I walked along collecting shells with my grandmother. It's a beautiful part of my childhood that has stayed with me all my life. I was raised in New Zealand and now live in Australia. I love the ocean scallops, the giant snail shells, the quahogs and sand dollars. All amazing finds. And I love your enthusiasm. Hi Marge! Me too! I LOVE them! They are so fun to find too! They are not the most common shell - especially the really big ones, but lately there is a ton washing up. I usually have good luck with them after a good storm where the wind and surf are coming from the North East. Thank you so much for coming along on my beach adventures! 🌊♥✌

Wow those scallops are awesome! Did you find them on the reservation beach? I got to spend 3 hours there last weds, it was so warm. Only found 1/2 of a scallop shell this time but I have found small ones with the stripes going down them. So pretty thanks for the video.
Yes - I was so excited to keep finding them again. They were at Gate 6 at the reservation. The gate is still closed, but you can hike in. Gate 6 is about 2.98 miles from the gate. It's a big walk, but worth it :) I am excited for them to open the gate again! Soon I hope! Thanks so much for watching!

Have you ever looked at them in the dark with a black light? I have many shells glowing hot pink. I'm not sure what they are but they're shaped like the turbin and have black on them. Bubble shells are super pink but I don't think you find those where you are.
Hi there! Kim suggested we get a black light and give that a try. She told me about pirates glass and this got me interested! When we get one and try it I will let you know. We don't have bubble shells here, but I just looked them up and they are adorbs! They kind of remind me of a short and stocky olive shell! Thanks for coming along on my beach adventure today! I have a few small ones, but I would love to find a big Horse Conch! It's on my beach bucket list for the next time I visit my parents in Florida! That and a Megalodon tooth! haha

@@PlumIslandSeaCabin I haven't had much luck at Seagull, but I should probably go back to check. There is that other side to Kalmus around the jetty, and I like going to the bay side beaches like First Encounter. When the tide is out, you can walk out for several hundred yards. I see razor clams, sea cucumbers and snails, so you may find some things there.

Wow those scallops are awesome! Did you find them on the reservation beach? I got to spend 3 hours there last weds, it was so warm. Only found 1/2 of a scallop shell this time but I have found small ones with the stripes going down them. So pretty thanks for the video.
Yes - I was so excited to keep finding them again. They were at Gate 6 at the reservation. The gate is still closed, but you can hike in. Gate 6 is about 2.98 miles from the gate. It's a big walk, but worth it :) I am excited for them to open the gate again! Soon I hope! Thanks so much for watching!

We have rain and snow over the next few days. Next week looks a bit better so will definitely get a trip in then. I might even find another giant scallop shell 🐚

Have you ever looked at them in the dark with a black light? I have many shells glowing hot pink. I'm not sure what they are but they're shaped like the turbin and have black on them. Bubble shells are super pink but I don't think you find those where you are.
Hi there! Kim suggested we get a black light and give that a try. She told me about pirates glass and this got me interested! When we get one and try it I will let you know. We don't have bubble shells here, but I just looked them up and they are adorbs! They kind of remind me of a short and stocky olive shell! Thanks for coming along on my beach adventure today! Don't forget to water your plants :) Shells and plants...can't get much better than that!

Yes! I have a garden that I love! Last year I did Tomatoes, Potatoes and onions! It was awesome digging for potatoes!

Hi KitKat! Thanks for tuning in! Yes, we have some good sized shells here on the island - especially the Atlantic Deep Sea Scallops , and Moons. Florida has the horse Conch though! I have a few small ones, but I would love to find a big Horse Conch! It's on my beach bucket list for the next time I visit my parents in Florida! That and a Megalodon tooth! haha

@@PlumIslandSeaCabin yes GREAT site and we have a place in west barnstable, so Kalmus is our scallop shell "go to". Cool to see you have sand dollars where you are too. We went to a different location for those but I'm definitely interested in finding more!

@@PlumIslandSeaCabin I haven't had much luck at Seagull, but I should probably go back to check. There is that other side to Kalmus around the jetty, and I like going to the bay side beaches like First Encounter. When the tide is out, you can walk out for several hundred yards. I see razor clams, sea cucumbers and snails, so you may find some things there.
