Just happened to me in my ZR1! Had to call my wife who was getting our kids school to come back and open the trunk. Thankfully it was in the garage and I had warm clothes on. Pretty panicked moment there. Thank you for making this video!

Good job combining all the door releases. On my 2008 C6 Coupe, there is also a smooth black button near the license plate light. Push that button and the hatch will open. Ray

I have a 2006 z06, but my key is different... was the car start added after 2006. Is there a way to start a 2006 with the old style GM FOB? Thanks for the helpful video.
I'm not familiar with the 2006's. I'd ask around on the Corvette forum or a C6 owners group on FB.
i thought these features were only on 08 and up models.not earlier models cause they didnt find out about their death trap till then

Great Video!!… thank you!!I literally got stuck in mine no cell phone..100 degrees outside but luckily I had just watched this video. Dead battery and I shut the door and panicked for about 10 seconds and pulled the door release.

I’m currently getting my battery charged. Not sure what caused drainage possibly a family member not shutting it off correctly when I needed someone to start it up for me.
Absolute great video! It saved me probably 2 or $300 getting towed and dealer service charges

Unless, the key doesn’t work to release the trunk. Mine didn’t. I had to take out the inboard R taillight, take the light off & hook a wire into the positive and negative wire to the light and then carefully hook it to my battery in my SUV(not running). This allowed the 12v to get into the system to allow the touchpad to open the door and then I could get everything back into order. Had to get a new battery the old one was so discharged. If my key had worked on the trunk release that would have been awesome but my key release latch is on the fritz. I also read you could take the outboard drivers taillight out and reach into the fender and pull the release cable To manually Open the door. Maybe on a coupe but not on my convertible. It was an experience but I got her back up and running. Good video. 👍🏼

@@TexasRealEstate I can’t either unless it’s some sort of mechanical issue but I cannot figure it out… I’m keeping the trickle charger on it anytime I don’t drive her for a few days… it was a hassle but easier than I thought it would be… once more, TH-cam to the rescue. 😀

Right now as I'm speaking I'm in my hometown in puerto rico but live in Texas, my 13 convertible vette died in the garage even though my sister would turn it on twice a week.
I've been gone for 6 months so far and been worried how I'm going to open the car since I didn't leave the hood open for access to the battery, windows open for access to the Manuel lever to avoid the amount of dust and dirt that would have come in
so I found your video bro and I never knew about the key fob inside the glove compartment 🤣🤣
I hope the convertible trunk comes with that release cable 🙏 since yours is a coupe, somethings are different but I think I've seen it

What cosmetic mods do you have on this car? Looks absolutely amazing!
Thank you! Mine has the chrome factory wheels (I believe it's a $2k option), chrome front bumper and side grill inserts and door handle covers (they're GM parts that replace the factory plastic ones - haven't seen another that has these), the rear lip wing (factory option), chrome Corvette badge insert on the rear and the 427 badges on the hood (GM parts).
How do you like the Pioneer head unit? What model is it? Did you upgrade anything else with the audio system/ Thank you!
Not sure what unit model it is. The previous owner had it installed along with an upgraded subwoofer and amplifier. I like it, especially for the bluetooth capabilities.

very nice, the guy who sold me the car, gave me the wrong emergency key to open the back, we have a locksmith outside trying to pick that lock for one hour now, any other suggestions?

You have your windows down. I’d like to know how to go about this when the windows are up and since the batt is dead, the indexing window feature prevents any and all ease of opening the door. Will this damage the glass??
Go in through the rear hatch using the key fob inside the key.
Your response in no way clears anything up regarding my comment. I have a rear hatch key which I know opens the rear hatch. But then what?? The windows are up and you can’t manually open the doors cuz the indexing feature doesn’t work when you open the door. Will the glass shatter when I force my door open?? All I can think of is to climb inside the rear hatch and into the cockpit and open and remove the top allowing me to now open the doors.
@@drrmdjr There is a manual door release cable on the inside of the rear hatch located on the left side.

I mean, I wouldn`t want it in my Vette. That`s just both engineering and marketing gone completely stupid, wrong direction IMHO. What do you think of it? Thanks again for helping people out. Regards!

What if the trunk release doesnt work?
Not sure why it wouldn't... Someone mentioned they found a way to get in by removing the taillight and accessing the interior trunk release that way. Not sure exactly how they did that, but there's an idea for you.

What happens if the battery dies with keys in the car?
Hopefully you'd have a spare key in that case! Otherwise, I'd probably call the dealer 😅
my issue is i dont even have a key... i cant go to the dealer because the title is locked in the car and i bought it yesterday! so i cant even register it to put it in my name....
Well I'd probably still call the dealer and ask them what they can do given the circumstance.
I have a 2005 c6 with a ugly fob without the hidden key on it and my battery is dead and im locked out....

How do we get in if we have the keys locked inside the car and the battery is dead ?
That's a tricky one! If you can manage to get a coat hanger wire in through the driver or passenger window without causing any damage, and catching that manual door release I'd say that's the only way I can think of. If that doesn't work or sound appealing and you don't have spare key -- I'd probably contact the dealer and see what they'd suggest.
@@TexasRealEstate hello.. and thank you for the response.. both key fobs were locked in the car.. and the radar detector was left plugged in.. this is a recipe for disaster.. and its cheaper to pay for a new windshield than to rip up all the window seals.. .. however we found a better way.. we jacked up the front of the car and hooked a battery to the starter and back-fed power to get the door open..
What if the key is inside the car?
Well I'd say... Better have a backup key in that case! Otherwise, I'm thinking that maybe - just maybe you could pull off the ol coat wire hanger trick to catch one of the manual door releases, if you can find a way to get it through toward the top of the window.
