Great Video! I am 73 years old and I just bought my Vette last fall. I have to put a battery in it and I wasn't going to do it myself until I saw your video.. I am going to give it a shot thanks to your helpful video. It is a 2011 Red C6 Coup so I subscribed to learn more as I go. Thanks for the help. Dave

Thank you klowny, I would never have attempted this without your video. I'm an old dude with a Blade Silver 2012 Vette. In fact my battery was just under a year old and it was an even exchange at the dealership. No charge.

klowny1969 That is correct klowny. I drove the dead battery in another car for the exchange at the dealership.
Jay Foreman Your lucky...my battery, on 2013, died three months after the warranty...:-( The dealer would not replace it, even though I had trouble with it since I bought the car. I now have a trickle charge for the car. Is there something you can put in the engine compartment to keep the battery charged, if you don't drive it that much?
Just changed mine. The battery required is in “group 85” (for 2008+); and from what I read group 86 for 2005-2007.
I can confirm that group 86 battery from Costco can work as well, making sure the wires can reach the battery terminals. The placement of the terminals is the only difference between group 85 and 86 batteries
So is this battery the 85G? Because I am having a hard time getting getting this 85 flush under the cabin air filter door. Every battery I have seen has been too tall, which is causing the battery to rest on the cabin door/frame.
@@Mr.Chambers1 sorry I'm not sure. I just know that if u buy the Costco Kirkland brand in group 86, it will work if you rotate the battery so it lines up with the correct terminals
it's also depands on the engine\oiling systems for example a grand sport will use a group 85 unless it has a dry oil sump and than it's group 90 etc etc...
If you plug in a CTEK battery tender or any battery tender for that matter into cigarette lighter will this also save your settings?
Also just by changing car battery will this loose your personal options that you set in the Display Information Center such as having headlights turn on before entering car or not turn on before entering car-( twilight sentinel feature?) There are other features in that Display Info Center like personalization of having your name in it. Now will these settings in Display Information Center be lost?
Is there an optional AC/Delco battery available that is more powerful than the battery than came in this car but will fit exactly the same without blocking the door to the cabin filter door? (Cabin Filter door is located behind and above stock battery).

Hi Klowny, I own a 2005 Corvette. I had AAA replace my battery a month ago when I was stuck at work, and they did not reset or reprogram after the installation. My Dashboard now says " Service Tire Monitor" after the installation and this was not appearing before the battery replacement. How do I rest or reprogram so this goes away?

Can you help me with a few issues on my corvette? I have a battery corrosion issues and I have an issue with my windows. They lack power going up and down. My interior lights will not turn off. I have to disconnect my battery.
Hey I own a C6 2005 and I notice that the daytime running lamps don't come on. Checked fuse box and it looks ok any glue what it could be
On an automatic, those lights go out when you shift into park, probably something to do with that.
Important Tip: This vid covers it all except, when you are removing the hold down
Do Not drop it down the battery area. Everything ends up under the batt tray then you have to remove the tray to get it.

Just changed my battery on my C6 Zo6 and my radio doesn't work. Also noticed I can't reset the clock either.Any way I can fix this problem?

Put a box wrench on the neg terminal use it as a lift handle.

nah..the clock might have to be reset. .thats about it

I would suggest to never turn a battery on it's side or upside down. You are lucky it didn't leak on you. And no they aren't as sealed as you think. A C6 battery does come out with keeping it straight up.

Does the car automatically do an internal diagnostic and restore the factory presets after the dead battery replacement and how long does it take for the car to do it?

Great Vid man! Changing a battery in a car is not rocket science...unless the battery is in a rocket! I have a c6 (2012 GS convertible). the electronics you can fry from a simple jump has me worried... Once the new battery goes in, how long does it take for the car to go through resetting everything?
You have to reset using memory buttons or manually using options on the dic switch
Have the exact same car (new to me this year) and am about to prep for winter storage. Any burnt fingers / advice? This video looks like good help on battery removal. Wondering if you learned anything extra to watch out for the GS.
What type of socket were ya using? Was it just a drill and socket extension attached? Just want to make it easier to access and swap my battery out! 👍🏼

Just so all you guys know, "the engine mount" with wet sump, The tray is smaller it takes a smaller battery you can see both batteries are not setting in the tray correctly. The correct one for 08 is the PS85 not PS90 Ac Delco. You do not want to have it sitting cattywampiss when you crank the pinch wedge down it could break the battery case and leak acid it will destroy your E38-ECU instantly because it is right under the tray, or it can come loose and your ECU plugs/ac lines are right there on both sides.

The battery on a C-6 Grand Sport is in the back of the car in a compartment. That is
to have room under the hood for the "dry sump" oil cannister.

Russ Anderson yup and because it is in there so tight I watched a corvette forum and they showed to remove the plastic piece above the battery to give you that extra little room you need

My 2010 GS has the battery in the back corner under the hatch! What gives here?
Bob Wethington manuals had them the rear because they have the dry sump canister in front..the auto didn't have the dry sump so the battery was in the front.
