I sent the wife to pick up a battery for my Corvette. It cost me $800.00. $200 for the battery, $600 for the puppy.
And that's why I trust Lyle, honest answers, not sales ploys. Now Kyle on the other hand would have tried to sell the most expensive newest technology battery available. Thanks LYLE, you the man!
HAHAHAHA! Thank you for the great message! Ya gotta watch out for the Kyles... :) Lyle
I absolutely would have.
I like your no BS attitude a lot. I mean we could be huge fans of Corvettes, but when there is an eyebrow rising stuff from factory, you just tell and as a bonus in a funny way 😆
I've really enjoyed your channel, and your replies to all my silly questions. This battery issue for C5's, and the charging/electrical issues in general, really hit home for me. I bought a 2003 AT coupe about 4 months ago with less than 18k miles on it, and with a 3 year old Optima Red Top. I thought I was set for years, but when it comes to electrical stuff, who knows? I started getting the dreaded 1214 code for the EBCM and found out it can be caused by an insufficiently charged battery. Down the rabbit hole I went. Turns out, the battery wasn't being recharged while driving. After weeks of trouble shooting I checked all the grounds, replaced the tensioner pulley, serpentine belt, battery, and finally, the alternator. God only knows what link in that chain was the real culprit. For the battery, I ended up getting the ONLY battery in town that day that was the correct size. At Walmart. $55! Incredibly, it works just fine. And the experience convinced me to embrace quantity over quality. I'd rather buy a cheap battery frequently BEFORE any electrical issues arise, than buy an expensive battery, hoping it'll last longer than the average marriage. It's just not worth the risk of damaging the other components in the charging system. I'd rather buy a $55 battery every spring than buy a $250+ battery plus special tender/charger and "try" to make it last as long as possible. BTW, the 1214 code turned out to be legit. I had to do the awful pull of the EBCM, send it to ABSfixer, and then do the awful reinstall. Lost one of the 6 brass screws somewhere in the blind abyss of the engine bay. The annoying beeps and codes are gone, but the skin on my hands and forearms is still healing. Do I still love the car? Yes, or maybe, I don't know, ask me again in a year...
Thanks again Lyle for the great advice on a battery purchase…
Thanks Lyle from Las Vegas... Battery has been giving me trouble for a few months now even after a new tensioner, alternator and pulley.... you make a lot of sense and I'm getting rid of the AAA battery..... Semper Fi
I learn something from every video Lyle posts and I’m not a novice to automotive engineering and technology. 👍👍
After reading too many social media posts about you must have the Optima Red Top - followed Lyle’s advice bought a nice Interstate battery for our Vette - saved money - local garage was happy - trusted source C&S Corvette
Thank you for generously sharing your experience and insight. As battery failure is such a common occurrence, your advice is incredibly helpful.
Best explanation on the types I have heard and great advice as always! Thanks
To add to your database of battery experiences, here is mine. The owner had just installed a new DelcoAC in 2012 when I bought my ‘99 C5. From day one I’ve kept a Battery Tender attached because I don’t drive it very often. That’s 11 years, it amazes me that it still starts. Now you know why I watched this very helpful video! My past experience with batteries is 3 to 4 years lifespan.
Great video. Going through batteries; this was very helpful. Thanks!
One thing that people do not know about these batteries is that they are all made in the same factory by the same manufacturer and just labeled differently.
I work for said battery manufacturer and have the joy of seeing them all get labeled before going on the shelf to drop ship.
So when someone asks what brand is best, I can assure you they are all made equally.
You say an Interstate battery is the same as a walmart battery, all things being equal?
@@dukeman7595 yes. They are all made in the same plant with different stickers put on. Everything other than Yuasa and Exide are made by East Penn Manufacturing.
@@PMPerformance This would include 'Interstate batteries'? They seem to last much longer then a walmart branded battery..
@@dukeman7595 again, they are ALL made in the same place. I’ve seen them all being made and the racks of stickers put on them for whomever is selling them.
@@PMPerformance Only explanation is, some have to be built better?
Your post came out at the perfect time. My 99 C5 Coupe battery is going on 7 years old, and won't hold a charge after two weeks without a tender. I was considering a red top Optima battery to prevent leakage over the ECM, but the recent reviews are absolutely horrible! I will stick to the Interstate battery and value Lyle's advice. Thank's again for helping me make correct decisions!
I currently have a red top Optima battery. I've had it for maybe 2 years. I live in Texas and drive my car nearly every day. But the last few times I've had my car in a shop for a few days and the car ends up sitting without starting, the battery completely dies in about 3 days.
My red tops kept on dying. Yellow tops no issues.
Thanks for your input
I use interstate batteries in all my vehicles and motorcycles. Great products!
Great info, as always. Used your guidance when searching for my C5 Z06. Bought an ‘02 with 48k miles a year ago and it’s been great.
Great info. The interstate battery in my C5 is going on 7 years. But C5s eat batteries if you don't drive them regularly. I have to trickle charge mine every 2 weeks.
I totally agree with you on the lead acid battery, especially in the south.
Lyle, U DA MAN 👊🏻, thanks for your honest advice and for sharing your knowledge with us Corvette disciples 🙏🏻
Lyle I like the research and straight up style of your presentations. Good honest help for folks looking for answers.
I bought my '86 C4 in 2000 and it had a Interstate battery. It had to be replaced after 4 months, and when I was having it tested the information From the batter showed it to be about 4 years old. I have used Duralast Gold batteries from Auto Zone forever, and have always had excellent results and long service wit respectable CCAs. That's what I've always put into my C4. Won't change unless the source quits producing it. I GET ABOUT 5 YEARS OUT OF THE DURALAST GOLD. Easy to remove/install without removing the gill panel. Just 3 bolts on the cruise control and shove it aside .Way easy !
Keep on keeping on sharing your expertise and experiences.
Excellent advice and information as usual.
I have a 2010 grand sport have replaced the battery twice i live in Ft Myers Fl. only use Walmart Batteries 135.00 dollars made by JOHNSON CONTROLS SAME AS INTERSTATE
Thanks for the info Lyle! I bought an Optima yellow top for my '08 C6. I'm near Indianapolis so I should be ok... also have Interstate batteries in my 3 other vehicles.... agree that they are great batteries and if you are a Costco member you can get a great deal on them.
I much prefer to pay extra for a battery that wont leak on the electrics in my C5, than take a chance on a flood type, I have a yellow top OPTIMA, it is 6 years old, no problem as yet here in Fl , it is hooked up to a trickle charger on the AGM setting. Interstate are great, I have used them in other cars, but they don't come in yellow.
You the man Lyle! Keep up the awesome work 😊.
Thanks for the good clear useful information. .
Battery things I never knew I needed to know! Thanks Lyle!
Thank you for this information. Confirmed what I was thinking.
Thanks for the very valuable information about corvett batteries 👍 Thanks, I'm planning on purchasing my first corvett very soon C6 based on the valuable information you provided us 🇺🇸 😀 may GOOD 👍 bless
Another excellent video... I'm an ASE CMAT (Retired) I live close to a Wal**t and LA batteries are fine for my '95 GMC yet Wallies best battery for my C5... is dead after 3 days. I have found cheep LA batteries lose 25% of there life on a total discharge and if discharged 5 times, buy a bus ticket! I've owned 2 shops over the years and I was an Interstate Dealer!?? Thanks for the wake up call... Very informative video.
Great Information and excellent reasoning. T'hanks Lyle "aka Kyle"
You are the information King in the Corvette World
Thanks Lyle. I have my 2004 Lead Acid battery on tender in Iowa 4-5 months a year. On my 4th year so far with no issues. Do you no of battery tenders hurting any electrical components? I haven’t started my car since Nov1 and hope all goes well soon when I inspect and fire up engine. Thank-You for all your tips.👍
Tenders don't put out enough amperage to hurt anything. They just keep the battery up to the task of starting the car. Some of the better units keep track of battery levels and only charge as needed, too. Lyle
My first Corvette I bought was a 96 LT1 base coupe. Bought it from an Acura dealer. The AC only blew out of the defrost and floor setting. The battery had leaked at some point and ate up the vacuum lines for the AC . It also sucked the acid into the lines and did more damage to lines inside under the dash. It had the standard air not the C68 ac.
The Acura dealer agreed to fix and put in the purchase agreement. They wanted to farm it out to a local shell station. I took it to the Chevrolet dealer that previously serviced the car. The cost to repair was $900.00 .
The car had a Die Hard flooded battery. I got a new one from Sears . The new Die Hard was leaking from the positive terminal a short time later. Currently AC Delco is now offering free replacement if the battery does not last the 5 years. No more pro rating for usage .
I'm going to put them to the test this spring . In 2020 I bought a new AC Delco . My son was driving the car and he didn't get the drivers door fully closed upon parking in the garage . I discovered this two days later and used my old Montgomery Ward battery charger to charge it up. If it sits for more than 10 -12 days it won't start . Currently have a Cetek tender / charger maintaining it .
Dave, I think you have a draw. See if you can have them check for one the next time your vehicle is serviced. Lyle
Good morning Lyle from Indiana. First off I must say I sure enjoy your videos. I have a well kept 2003 fully loaded Corvette. I would like to know please what you suggest for a good battery charge for a agm/gel battery. Thank you sire.....
My battery just died today. Going to get an Interstate battery(ran those in my boat). Thank you Lyle for the guidance, very much appreciated, especially since this is my first Corvette(2012 Gran Sport).
Great job, KYLE
Thanks, Lyle!
Another very informative video. I have a 2019 GS Corvette delivered in 2018. I have less than 15000 miles. I was considering an Optima yellow top when I replace the battery that came with the car but I am now going to go with a 5 year interstate. I live in Portland Oregon but we had a record setting heat dome for at least a week of 117 to 118 degrees last summer. All things considered your advice will save me money and get me through what seems to be a change in climate where I live. Thanks for your unbiased professional advice.
I'm south of you with a C-4 and it was bought used and has a Delco Batt. that's unknown age. Due to not driving in snow or heavy rain, I've been using my charger that I got for my mustang with a Ford labeling thru an aftermarket online. It was under a hundred on sale and has all the abilities that Lyle was talking about. With safety features that won't set stuff on fire or blow the charge on the batt. Like you I've been looking for a good battery choice. Since the car issues seem to be fixed for the time being, and last summer was a cooker. I am looking forward to cruises this summer. Glad Lyle brought the subject up! He has always been helpful about my vett issues that had plagued my old low mileage vett. Excellent responses to stuff that was frustrating. It's what can happen to 1990 vett that wasn't serviced properly. Due to low mileage and time.
I have had an Optima yellow top on my C5 for about 15 years. I keep it on a trickle charge over the winter. It doesn't owe me anything...
Thats good news... I bought an Optima yellow top for my '08 C6 3 years ago and also keep a tender on it all winter.... good to know that I hopefully have many more years of service left !
Have you heard anything about the Odyssey Extreme AGM batteries ?
They seem to be built good also.😎👌
I just bought a yellow top arm battery my corvette shop said the computer is under the battery and acid leakage can damage it
Sound advice as always Lyle Thanks 😎👍
Great "Kyle" , just kidding. Appreciate your videos Lyle . I live in Ontario Canada and really like your videos ! Keep them coming. Very informative 👍
Hey, you stole my Kyle joke. 🤪
Lyle, very interesting on battery info for corvette. I just bought my 4th C5 and am looking to replace the battery. After watching your video, looked into the engine compartment and found an Interstate 86 group battery. I was going to go with ac delco, but not now. Anyhow, you're great and keep it up and I'll keep watching.
Awesome info. And as always, phone ringing in the background…LOL
Thanks for info Lyle, gets freaking Hot where I live so you answered my question.
Excellent info. Learned a lot. Thanks much. Rick
Exactly my thoughts on these batteries.
I've used Northstar batteries for many applications but the one in my truck is over 11 years old and still in perfect working order. Definitely check them out if you haven't heard of them. You will be impressed.
On top of bmw batteries, one of the terminals has month and year engraved on top of the terminal. My M5 battery has the same year as the age of the car, from 2013. I'd struggle to believe you that you've got a viable 11 yr old battery, had I not known I have a 10 yr old battery in my M5 (I bought the car last August.) The car lives an easy life, and always goes back on the mxs 5.0 ctek maintainer when not in use. It is an H9 AGM. How long will it last? No idea. But the car pops off pretty fast as it should!
I just had the Chevy dealer install an OEM Delco battery. The original lasted 5 years in my 2019 GS.
Lyle, first of all thanks big time for your great vids. Extremely informative and open minded, not pushing any agenda. I do have a request for a topic to be covered that seams to be all over the place with very little proof to confirm the opinions . The C5, which I own seems to suffer from the alternator going bad over time and many users insist you rebuild rather than buy a new unit from any source because it is supposed to cause problems with the cars ECUs , causing lots of error codes. A proper source of credible info would be greatly appreciated other than some owners biased opinion. Have a fantastic new year !
Interstates seem to do great, also ACDelco's. Just replaced my 10 yo OEM AcDelco in my car a couple weeks ago, ironically this summer also had to replace my 8 yo Optima in my truck. Battery prices have shot up a lot in the last couple years though, the "regular" water ACDelco was almost as much as the Optima.
That was an excellent tutorial on those three types of automotive batteries! I installed and maintained large banks of all types of batteries used for railroad signal operations for 40 years and I couldn't have stated this nearly as well as you did! I am getting ready to replace a 2 yr old Die hard gold in the 96 that I just purchased. It starts the engine but it also drops below 12 Volts resting overnight. Even with my background in battery maintenance I wanted your opinion on what is best for the Vette. You helped me in my search for the right car and I'm happy with it! Interstate it is. MTP-75
And who is this KYLE guy? Have you been hacked! 🤣 Thanks for the honesty and the great information.
Choice of battery includes specs for CCA and reserve. Both important especially for C5's that seem to drain power in days leaving low cranking voltage/current.
What battery tender do you recommend?
I just installed an Odyssey AGM battery in my C5 Z06 because it won't leak on the electronic components. I keep it charged with a CTEK 7002 charger which has a setting specifically for AGM batteries. Thank you for the information Lyle.
I love my CTEK mxs 5.0, it also has an AGM setting on it for my bmw M5 battery. Just recently bought a '13 GS with the battery in the back, it has a standard battery.
I bought a 2002 corvette a month ago that had a new wet cell battery in it and it was dead! I want to use an AGM battery in it. My question was going to be what kind of battery tender do you recommend for the AGM Lyle? I am in AZ. Thanks, Glenn
Does the heat under the hood while driving play a part in the gel battery? I used to be a dealer for Interstate Batteries and I also think they are the best option for batteries. They last longer, and Interstate never had a problem with standing behind their warranty! Thanks Lyle!!!
Danny, I have to believe that it does play a part. I have no empirical proof of that, but it makes a lot of sense. Lyle
@@csvette Thanks for the reply, Lyle!!!
Hey Lyle! I really appreciate all of the care and feeding you’ve been doing for all of us Vette owners. Your straight talk make the info so easy to digest. I wish I had seen this video a year ago when I bought a yellow top Optima for the black 2008 C6 that’s pretty much a very heavy paper weight after not really driving it that much and temps in Philly hitting 90+ for a sustained three weeks this past July/August. I know you like Interstate, so can you give me a model number so I can stop collect paper weights? Also, what’s your view on the Morimoto and the GTR replacement LED headlights? Much appreciated Lyl
Hi Ed! Last question first: Either the GTR or Morimoto are fantastic upgrades to your C6. Both provide plug-and-play set-ups, and both are far better at lighting the road than the stock units. You won't go wrong either way. According to Interstate, the correct size for your car is an MTP-90-T5. Lyle
@@lyleaulwurm9486 Much Much Appreciated Lyle!!
@@lyleaulwurm9486 Much appreciate the battery info Lyle. Since I don’t have the ability to run power across a common walk area to where my car is parked in my driveway so I could power a battery tender, can I plug a solar battery maintainer like the Schumacker SP-400 into accessory outlet in the center console storage area? I also would like to install the LNEX Bluetooth 5.0 Battery Monitor on the battery so that I can monitor status without going to the car. Starting to chill up here in Philly. Thanks Lyle.
I have a 1977 corvette,i use only interstate 5 year batteries, have had no problems,I would like to see as many videos as possible on c3 corvettes.lol russell wayne boyd p.s. i live in springhill flarida, south of tampa.
The first battery on my 2005 Corvette that was ordered in 2004 lasted 12 years. The first 3 years it didn't have a battery tender. After that a CTEK 3300? was used on it for the remaining years. The second battery a AC-Delco Professional lasted 5 years and that was using the CTEK 3300? battery tender for all of those 5 years. Now I am on the 3rd battery an AC Delco Gold (Only battery sold for this car by GM now installed by dealership which is now on a new Deltran battery tender. We will have to see how long this battery lasts.🤗
Thank you Lyle, I live in FL also, Have a 07 C6 Z, I have been through 4 batteries so far, mainly because I do not drive it often anymore, 17 K orig miles, a yr ago I bought a Gel Batt and thinking I was doing the best thing with spending the higher money, well, its already dead, and have it on a good trickle charger maintainer, no the charger says charging aborted-bad battery, so I will go to the Interstate battery now, thank you very much, big help 👍👍
No problem! Happy to help! Make sure to continue using the maintainer, and the Interstate should prove to be a lasting solution. Lyle :)
thanks lyle..great info
Coral Gables 🌴🇺🇸 More good advice Kyle. Thank you 👍 🏄
I moved my C5 Corvette battery to the rear of the car. Used an Odyssey AGM.
Thank you for the battery heads up..
❤Interstate Battery all the way.
Our local Interstate dealer is awesome. Lake Zurich, IL. Sean is the manager with impeccable customer service. They can/will remove and install batteries, also provide a loaner battery (If under warranty) While they check and charge your battery. The only place I get batteries anymore, Interstate.
Speaking of over and under charging what do you think of the BATTERY TENDER
Most modern battery tenders are "smart" in that they only charge when needed and then only to full charge before shutting down. They monitor the battery constantly and switch on and off as needed. I am not aware of any down-side to using them. Lyle
Thankyou for this information!
thank you , excellent, I own a 67 L-79
Can I relocate the battery to the trunk in one of the wells ,and run cable under the carpet somewhere??
Lyle replacing a 1980 c3 L82 your recommendation. I live in Texas
I put a Optima yellow top in. I always used a battery maintainer when my car was parked. I didn’t even last two years. Optima did replace it. It’s for sale. Brand new in the box
Is there anything you can put under the battery to keep acid off electronics. Have an optima in my 2002 and didn’t know about special charger. Have charges mine a few times. Have a battery minder on for winter. Is that a know know also.
Lyle whats a good led aside battery for my C5 Corevette?
My 2011 AC delco battery is sitting in my 2005 modded c6, removed for winter months and maintained on a tender . Paid 180$ canadian , I fully agree with Lyle about lead acid is your best choice for these cars. PS my Delco has ran flat about 8 times since 2013 - 2024 and holds 13 volts . This particular battery was manufactured on a Wednesday of 2011 , thanks for confirming what I always believed😉
I have seen an absorbent mat to put under battery to catch acid spills...any good? does it interfere with battery hold down clamps? Are there any plastic sheets (molded?) we can use to protect electronics below the battery in a C5? Do battery tenders or similar for long term storage work OK with AGM batteries?
What are the best ramps to use when you have a step driveway? Don’t want to scrape up my corvette.
Is it not recommended for the c5 to have a dry battery so it wont leak onto the ecu?
That’s what I’ve heard. If that battery leaks, there goes the electrical system
Hey Lyle, my c5 Z06 has a red top Optima battery from the previous owner, sometimes I don't drive the car for a week recently it was stored for 2 weeks and went fully flat. After jump starting and driving it home I tried charging with a basic charger but kept getting an error. It still starts but after watching your video I wonder if its damaged now having been 100 percent discharged what do you think I should do? Cheers love the videos!
Henry, I think it is probable that your battery is no longer healthy enough to be relied upon long-term. Keep in mind that a weak battery can cause some pretty crazy electronic behavior in a c5/c6, so be aware of new weirdness that may occur. That would be a sure sign that you need a new battery STAT. Lyle :)
Just put in a DieHard 34/78-4 dual-terminal in my '03 C5, it fit perfectly and the puck locked down. Getting those side bolts in is VERY challenging though (don't drop one while trying to get it in the cover, it goes down into the bowels of hell never to be seen again)
I love your channel and you’ve saved me a lot of money. I have a 84 corvette and my engine runs great and the car gives me joy. I noticed today that on my digital dash my voltage was around 11.2-11.5 with a red dot coming on. I had my ac on, and early in the morning I noticed my dash doing a very very light flickering along with my headlights. Does that mean I need a new battery asap?
Could be your battery. Could also be your alternator, bad battery connections or bad grounds. Check all of the latter before replacing the former. Lyle :)
@@csvette thanks. The voltage runs 11.5ish and up when driving. I’ll have it looked asap. I had the ground wires replaced for my horn, and radio last month. I just moved from Rochester,NY where I purchased my vette and I moved to Raleigh nc. Time to find a mechanic. Ps love the messages you gave us on letting the mechanic provide the parts so that we don’t pay more on labor if the part we purchased is bad.
@@csvette I have my mechanic check and we replaced both the battery. I took your advise on that, and we replaced the original alternator as well. Didn’t realize they there were 5-6 different ones for my 84. I got her back today and drove her for about 2 hours and she is sounding much better and all my electronics work
People from down south would love lithium iron batteries! They're super lightweight, no liquids in them, maintenance-free, and least likely have to charge them. They also have a long shelf life of at least 5 years. Little bit pricey. But well worth the money. You guys down south would love them. Only problem with them is they don't like to crank very well of temperatures below 30°. I have one in my motorcycle for the past 8 years and never had any issues with it. I'm sure they make a car battery version.
A little pricey!?!?!!? I am not spending $750 on a battery for my C5.
@@Glide1992 Wow! I didn't think they would be that much money. I paid about $180 for my motorcycle battery about 10 years ago and never once had to charge it. It's still works great. And another nice thing is you don't have to worry about battery acid dripping all over the place.
@@frankc1430 10 years? That's great. Maybe justifies the price.
@@Glide1992 that's what I figured since I only ride my motorcycle in the summer. I never did buy one for a car.
Frackc1430- Maybe you don't know this but down south gets below freezing except in south Florida. In fact, last year one or two nights was around 8 or 10 degrees F.
How do I find out if my battery charger is ok for my gel battery? I should have found this video before I spent the extra bucks for the Optima. Just didn't want the possibility of the acid leaking down onto everything important. Hope the Optima holds up here in hot Southern California. Thanks Lyle.
I like Interstate allso
Grt info for the battery replacement in the vette. Could you give me the specs for battery replacement in a 2003 corvette please.

Thx Lyle 👍
My C7 is at the dealer as I'm typing. Had to drop it off overnight because it would start. Over the summer, she hesitated about twice when I pushed to start. 2 days ago, nothing. Lights and everything came on but it wouldn't even crank. Still waiting on the dealer to call me. I'm praying it's just the battery. 2015 with 38k miles on her. Any body ever got a battery from the dealer?
What type of battery would you use for a 98 stingray?
Interstate 5 year or 6 year battery. Our absolute go-to for any Corvette. Lyle
Do you recommended lithium batteries for c7 corvette stingray?
I have a red top Optima battery with side posts installed in a 89 C4... always plugged on a trickle charger when car unused.... never had any problem (installed 3 yrs ago)... fantastic crank and start up. I live in France... same latitude as Seattle, WA... (( the C4 drains 50 mA ....ECM... Bose system... when key off)).
Hello Lyle. Why didn’t you mention the Lithium iron phosphate batteries. I don’t have one in my corvette yet, but I have one in my Harley Fat Boy and my Suzuki Vstrom. They are really light and last for twice as long as anything else.
What is best battery for a C8 Corvette???
I bought a group 34 instead of the 'standard group 24 for my '66 L79.
Lord jesus did that make installation easier. You _must_ tilt the battery greatly to get the battery in or out.
I used to buy SVR gel cells made for high end auto soundsystems when they were exactly the size of group 24 and had the correct lip for the factory tray (68 to 72 GM A body). Can't find that any more.
Excellent, I always wondered what the difference were.
You don't do Google?
@@Glide1992 I have but it wasn't clear what one was best for extreme temperatures.
Thank you
Hi Lyle, what do you recommend is the best Battery Maintainer to use for my 2002 C5.
Anything by Deltran is excellent. They are the original Battery Tender. Lyle
Hi Lyle, I finally bought my first C6 Grand Sport thanks to your reviews and recommendations among other sources. I giggled it with a good battery and two days later it’s acting up. It’s dead and all the electrical such as dash lights, windows, etc is acting up . Do you still recommend the Interstate battery? I saw another video where they recommend using the factory AC Delco but I just saw your video. Thanks! Cesar
Interstate Batteries from Interstate (not Walmart) are the very best. We had terrible luck with AC Delco when we tried carrying them several years back. Lyle
I appreciate it! I charged it overnight and it took the charge. I’m gonna see if it held it. But just in case, what’s the cost please? I’d enjoy a ride up to see you from Cape Coral! My brother in Las Vegas would enjoy seeing me at your shop. He’s a fan! Thanks Lyle!
@@cn9936 The battery costs $189, and we charge a 0.5 hour labor minimum. Total would be $300.86, tax and State battery fee included. Let me know!
What about lithium? I've used a couple on motorcycles. They are so super light.
How about the battery you get from the Dealer/manufacturer?
I have heard that the newer AC Delco batteries are pretty good, but my years of bad experiences make me stick with the Interstate units that I Trust. Lyle
Hi Lyle,
I saw your video ... I purchased Automatic, 2005 Corvette Convertible with a Optima 2019 yr battery.
I live near Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia area.
I have noticed this battery is touchy... Seems it can drain easy... I spoke to a few C6 Corvette guys & was told the cars go thru batteries since they have loads of electronics.
....With that said, would a INTERSTATE BATTERY in my region of the country be better ? Also is a battery tender truly helpful for a Optima Battery ? ... Will a battery tender work well with a Interstate battery ? ... PS my car is NOT a daily driver ...
Thanks in advance,
Jim C.
Hi Jim! I would get the good 5-year Interstate and keep it on a trickle charger when it is parked. That will solve your immediate issue. You may have a draw on the system that is taking the battery down faster than normal, but the Interstate will handle that far better than the Optima. Lyle
Thanks ! :)
