I love this song totally. The sound is incredible with Susan’s beautiful voice and Derek’s guitar work. Then you have the wonderful generated by the remainder of 5he band. They have to be at the very top of the pinnacle. Long may they remain there.
This gorgeous woman can lead her band to great stardom. She loves the stage performance. Derek is a lucky man, her love for him, shows through the looks they have for each other. The band feeds off their love and talent. ❤
Holy shit. You both took the words straight out of my mouth! This song/band is a perfect example of why the artistry of music is something to be treasured.
You could make the case that she's ripping off Bonnie Raitt's vocal style, but who knows who Bonnie ripped off, and Susan does it so well that even Bonnie has to forgive her. I love this tune.
This is beautiful. This music gives me goosebumps that no other songs give. It is hard to tell what it is. I love Derek’s tone without using any pedal, just amplifier and guitar.
The introes to this song are unbelievable and brings me in a mood, that keeps away the triviality in hearing this Tune over and over. Derek is a genius.
Derek is a TRUE jazz Musician! I've listened to countless versions of this tune, and the opening and solo have such different musicality to them. He's a creative GENIUS!!
Correct it's NOT, JAXZ......Whatever that is! It's jazz in the sense that Trucks plays a lot of horn parts in his playing. Inspired by the likes of Coltrane, Miles, Parker, Etc. And if you had asked THOSE players, where their inspiration came from musically, they would have said every type of music! Coltrane especially was into Classical, Then a guy like Brubeck traveling the middle east and the southern mediterranean, got many of his odd time rhythms from countries like turkey, and Greece. Jazz does NOT constitute one or even a few genres of music, it finds something from ALL genres of music, then improvised!
Again your so called facts are untrue, especially bout Derek filling the spot of Duane! You do realize Duane Allman died in 1971??? And was 24 years old! Derek was born in 1979! hahahahaha Guess you don't realize that in the 2 to 3 years after Duane's death, Dickey was the only main guitar player, with Greg playing 2nd guitar on some tunes. They had added another keyboard player to the mix, mainly Chuck Levell, It wasn't until 1979 after a 3 1/2 year hiatus and putting a new record Enlightened Rouges, that a 2nd guitar player was added FULL TIME ....Dangerous Dan Toler! Then in the late 80's came Warren Haynes. So please quit trying to school me on your uneducated comments! As for which came first Blues or Jazz? Kind like saying were the Wright Brothers the first to invent a flying aircraft? Was Henry Ford the first to invent an automobile? In actuality before the invention of pressed recordings, we don't specifically KNOW which came first. As the place in the USA with the most diverse music in many styles, which were then melded into blues, jazz, etc was New Orleans! And as for what Blues was in reality, was nothing more than the slaves working in the fields singing work songs, no guitar, no horn, no keyboard...The primary instrument was VOCALS! And that's what we have as original pressed recordings of BLUES. Dude you need to listen to many of the midnight in harlem tunes over the years, and show me JUST ONE where Derek's solo is the same as the other...YOU CAN'T so quit being an uneducated Jackass..."Derek Trucks - Midnight in Harlem Solo Compilation" Type it in, these solos are from 2015 all within one week.
Again you missed probably the best Duane replacement, according to Dickey and Greg. JACK PEARSON! Example...."The Allman Brothers Band - Dreams, 10th March 1998"
The intros and solos on this song keeps getting better and better with each performance. Trucks just can't run out of ideas. great player. And Susan's voice...wow. unbelievable
This is one of my go to songs B4 sleep .. & I have watched the videos where Derek generously gives out free tips on playing .. I have no desire to copy him exactly .. so I often close my eyes to listen .. But I you were looking lovely tonight .. I don't know what the special reason was .. You always look good whether it is in jeans or a dress .. & I have not forgotten you could & used to carry a whole show by yourself .. I love your voice .. such a range .. from soft & gentle to raunchy .. a bit like Derek ..on guitar .. I love the whole band .. keeping music real .. Thanks guys ..
this is one of my all time favorit songs this music transports me within a myriad of memories and feelings and it gives me an emotional sence of connection to the true mystery and joy. the build up of the song also lifts me to a realm of serenaty, hope and positive sentiment and i love the interaction and subtle interplay and tenderness of love beetween derek trucks guitar and susan tedeshis vocals.. what do you experience?
WOW!! cant believe I am the first comment ! I can only say that it seems to me this band not only sounds great to me but a whole lot of people, what is not to like? The talent is all there. I never really liked a big band much, more an EC fan , and ABB , fan but this band has got me.
As I've missed the opportunity to come to BUDOKAN on 31MAR and 01APR both, I feel this is very, very precious item for me. Thank you so much for uploading !!
Such a wonderful performance of a great song. Susan is so soulful and the band is so great! I just wish that the yahoo's yelling and whistling while they are performing, knew how lame, interruptive and disrespectful that is to the performers.
Derek has a lot more seasoning to do to even come close to the old artist that are still living and performing. I don't want to take anything from him because he has worked so hard through the years.
I love this song totally. The sound is incredible with Susan’s beautiful voice and Derek’s guitar work. Then you have the wonderful generated by the remainder of 5he band. They have to be at the very top of the pinnacle. Long may they remain there.

Indian ragas meeting the blues. Beautiful.
Such a beautifully written song, written by one of their background / harmony singers, Mike Mattison.
Brings tears to my eyes so beautiful
Susan is so underrated. Her voice is unbelievable voice and her lyrics incredibly moving. Not to mention she's gorgeous.
THIS ^^^^
Holy shit. You both took the words straight out of my mouth! This song/band is a perfect example of why the artistry of music is something to be treasured.
Lets not forget Derrick Trucks with a very smooth slide style remeniscent of Dwayne Allman
You could make the case that she's ripping off Bonnie Raitt's vocal style, but who knows who Bonnie ripped off, and Susan does it so well that even Bonnie has to forgive her. I love this tune.
She's not unrated to me.. they are perfect.
This is beautiful. This music gives me goosebumps that no other songs give. It is hard to tell what it is. I love Derek’s tone without using any pedal, just amplifier and guitar.
Susan is fantastic. I love her voice and of course her guitar
Ridiculously beautiful, everything!! What an intro and what a solo! Im thinking this is their best Midnight in Harlem out there.
Find the version they did at E-Town. I love this one but it's my favorite. Have a look and see what you think.
The introes to this song are unbelievable and brings me in a mood, that keeps away the triviality in hearing this Tune over and over.
Derek is a genius.
His music .... just taking his wife to somewhere pleasant... Music is a blessing.....
they are so in sync.....beautiful to watch and listen
Derek is a TRUE jazz Musician! I've listened to countless versions of this tune, and the opening and solo have such different musicality to them. He's a creative GENIUS!!
Randall Brown No, Derek is a musician of all genres

Such a wonderful performance of a great song. Susan is so soulful and the band is so great! I just wish that the yahoo's yelling and whistling while they are performing, knew how lame, interruptive and disrespectful that is to the performers.
What kind of camera did you use? Great video.
he can play music well
Susan is a goddess
Now I am hungry for Indian food.
We know Mark C. Doesn't realize Jazz actually covers all genres of music. And him not being musically inclined won't understand my reply! Lol
An especially Titillating performance;D

WTF a dental add right in the middle of his solo? Plaque teeth and all.
Incredible fail by the camera man.
Derek has a lot more seasoning to do to even come close to the old artist that are still living and performing. I don't want to take anything from him because he has worked so hard through the years.
Really like Who?
Amen
Keep up the good work!
Seasoning? So by virtue of being old they are better? I really hate this mindset. It's so arbitrary.
Derek is taking slide guitar forward by leaps and bounds. Open your ears !
