Right, they are so mysterious and enigmatic. That's one of The reasons Metroid Prime: Hunters is my second favorite Metroid Prime game, only behind Metroid Prime 1.
I've never really thought about a Metroid 6 coming soon... but, it does actually sound plausible after the success of Dread. If we saw an asset reusing sequel this year I think it would blow a lot of people's minds (mine included). I feel a lot would be super surprised that we aren't having to wait another 17 years between entries in the series.
Dread left a lot of unanswered questions. Infact it barely answered any. Plus there's the issue of the x parasites being seen escaping the planet in the background
While I didn’t say this 6 years ago I’m going to say it now, I think Super Metroid is ready for a Remake. Super Metroid is nearly 30 years old and while it has aged really well I would love to see what MercurySteam would do with the Super Metroid Map.
Aside of Samus herself, I think I can see two loose threads post Dread. The first would be the Metroid Serum Samus received in Fusion. It was produced by the Federation itself, so who is to say that Samus' vaccine shot took up the entirety of it or that the serum itself is impossible to reproduce, even without live Metroids. The other lead is about the E.M.M.I. The Devs went out of their way to Namedrop the Manifacturer of these Robots, so I wouldn't be surprised if they stay relevant. A Metroid game taking place in their factory, a focus on mechanical "fauna" over organic would potentially make for an interesting setting.
I mean she was hunted down in Fusion by the SA-X. So that is twice. They can do their final one being the Federation. And she stop those that are corrupt.
Not just twice - in Zero Mission there is the Space Pirates on the mothership, and in Samus Returns there is the Diggernaught, its become a series staple by now that there is at least part of the game devoted to escaping an impossible to kill adversary
- Use of grapple beam to siphon energy from stunned or near dead enemies and electrical conduits. Instead of drop from defeated enemies. - When infiltrating more finding nooks and crannies to sneak around cut off areas and taking out key points like power nodes and relays. Slowly cracking an enemies defenses wide open. Weakening their strong hold, numbers and communications. - More player controlled direct use of ship in game. Perhaps a sort of Blaster Master approach using the ship to cover longer distances from one strong hold to another and footing in while infiltrating. - No ammo types just energy cost. 5 missiles or 1 super missile could cost 20 energy or something. - I prefer charging up for super missiles and power bombs. - Typically I wouldn't like this but done in a straight forward and simple fashion energy management through options in menu by turning systems on or off as needed could be fun and interesting in Metroid. Plus would add to the sense of isolation. One thing I often miss in Metroid there days is the dread of the trek from point A to point B. It wasn't that the destination may to to difficult it was will I make it there and back with the reserves I have. In original Metroid not much did a lot of damage to you at once but but it all slowly widdled away at your reserves and refills were is short supply or could take a lot of time to gain back. - Go back to a reasonable amount of max e-tanks. - Previously visited areas should change more as you re-trek them. Different enemies or placements. New paths with old ones closed off. Make old areas feel new more often. Make the enemy seem to have half a mind evolve as Samus does. Seemingly trying to anticipate Samus and understand her and she tries to subvert expectations. - More natural alternate paths for the player to discover with differing challenge. - Suite adapts to new situations as needed. At some point there is now a need to jump higher. Could have been useful before but it wasn't needed. Suite AI comes up with a solution that it is able to reconfigure into and proposes it to Samus. Perhaps sometimes after the solution was needed when it figured it out. Or perhaps after understanding enough about a new creature or enemy ability. This reconfigure could cost some energy. Now even though hi-jump wasn't needed previously there were areas it could have been used in. - If in an area that happens to support Samus ability to survive without suite perhaps loss of suite in that area does not mean death. Just need enough energy and a safe space to suite back up. - Retractable canon arm so Samus has two free hands when needed (i.e. climbing ladders)
That is highly unlikely. Retro Studios already have their hands full with Metroid Prime 2 & 3 Remastered and Metroid Prime 4. It would either be Bandai Namco or Rareware that will be involved.
I kinda want a Super Metroid remake in the Dread engine. Although Super definitely doesn’t need a remake. It would be a cool and novel thing to tide us by until the next big title
I don't think It's Metroid 6, It could be a Super Metroid remake or a game taking place before Metroid Zero Mission and telling Samus's times at the Galatic Federation.
Metroid 6: Chronicles of Ridley During a dogfight with a dangerous foe, Samus is out maneuvered and flies into a wormhole. Arriving in Zebes but thousands of years into the past, Samus' only hope is to search for five rare natural resources to help reopen the wormhole. In the ending scene, two baby dinosaurs manage to latch onto Samus's ship as she escapes through the now repaired worm hole.
That would be awesome. Repeating the formula. Shareholders happy, consumers happy. Sad thing that I wish retro made the first first person metroid sequel.
I wouldn't say we know everything. They created new questions with the ending. We don't know what her Metroid DNA entails in the future. And the galactic federation likely will be her adversary/after her. They still want to weaponize Metroids, and you are one. Maybe somehow they find out. I can see the whole Metroid thing being how they introduce a bunch of new abilities and powers as well. I also doubt everything is resolved with the Chozo.
Honestly I'd kind of like to see the opposite of Solo Samus. I kind of hope Metroid 6 starts with a clone at an extragalactic site Raven Beak sent Scout's to ahead of time with active cloning cells for Samus, where we get to effectively start at Zero suit(as a clone), perhaps not involving a single Chozo ruin except something to dispense that first Suit, but then we find our character has an identity crisis and eventually is visited by the X soldiers from Dread that escaped, then possibly by Samus herself but she hunts us like the SA-X did.
I'm yet to finish dread, I found it to be too difficult for me. (Will try rookie mode). But I'd happily take prime remasters, or prime 4 before we even begin talking about metroid 6.
The end of Dread left many open Threads. Wich is good if you actually intent on continuing the series. If Nintendo wanted to bring the Series to its finale it wouldnt end up the way it is. What Raven beak said actually makes a lot of Sense. With Samus new powers she is a Threat to the universe and will be hunted for it. If there are no metroids left then it leads to her being super dangerous and very high up on a wanted list. This could lead to her leaving the galaxy entirely taking refuge in some other places where the federation is not. I can only imagine what would be possible now that samus true form has been revealed Imagine every time when Samus gets awfully low on health she gets overtaken by her metroid instincts and her metroid Suit begins to take form. Now she gets the ability to drain the enemy in melee range similar to the melee counter she already has and replenishing her health in the process. Now here are lore fun facts. Metroids absorb energy just like X Parasites absorb DNA. Samus has now the ability to absorb both Id suppose. Because everything is Energy and Energy cannot be destroyed. Especially the end of Dread where Samus entered her ship was.... interesting. An X Parasite with the memories of quiet robe deciding to sacrifice itself, being absorbed by samus in Order to calm down her still mutating Metroid DNA? And this resulting in Samus getting her usual appearance back just after her metamorphosis? This doesnt make sense or does it? Lets see: Metroids and X are Natural enemies both inhabitants of SDR388. Metroids being the only organism that X parasites cannot affect. So the X parasite almost went extinct but with the sudden extinction of the Metroids on SR388 through Samus the X yet again had to rise on top of the food chain. It actually does not make sense that Samus Metroid DNA calmed down after absorbing another X Parasite. But what if we look at it the other way around? What if the X parasite didnt choose to just be absorbed by samus but to form a stronger bond with her like Symbiosis? This could have been the case with the particular specimen that had the shape and memories of quiet robe. He cared for samus because he was a godfather of samus. The Thoha have been very caring and loving towards her her whole life. And so I think it was just natural for the X Parasite to be the same way. So he wasnt trying to infect her body to kill her as a host and reproduce but to help her Human/Thoha DNA stabilize and form a better bond with her Metroid DNA. Since thats an ability of the X. Absorbing and merging DNA into one organism. So we can say Samus is now a multi species organism with the ability to absorb energy and DNA. I can imagine that she will have X abilitys in the future. Like transformations into smaller lifeforms to traverse small spaces similar to how she does with the morph ball. Or to infect other powerful species with her parasite just to reabsorb it after a kill to get its abilities too.
