@@iceman60101 i believe he can't legally mention that part, unless you have a physical copy of the game you want to play and rip it and dump it into your phone, otherwise he can't mention the other way for, well, legal purpose. there are tons of emulators in retroarch who each have tons of games it would take forever to show where to get all of them, find any website that distributes ROM dumps depending on the system you want to emulate, they're pretty easy to find
The developer of this app should classify cores according the name of their consoles just to make it easy for normal people to understand these weird names.

@@Legend_Dale Yeah with a few subtle differences you could take as ether quality of life improvements or minor hindrances... Like instead of having every core having it's own GFX settings there's just one universal one that you have to adjust anytime you want something different... If you already know what you like this can be a headache, but if you have no idea or just like playing around with the settings RetroArch is MUCH EASIER!

I get to load content and navigate to the unzipped folder with the ROM but it isn't visible within Retroarch. In file manager they are there. Tried both MAME Cores.
its kind of menazing, and I already had a good n64 and gba emulators, but when you understand the emulator is much easier to use this rader than looking for an emulator and testing diferent ones. p.d english isnt my main languages so sorry for the nasty spelling

I got it 😄 I'm gonna use it for SNES, NES, NDS, Sega Genesis. 😁 For GBA games, I'm using PizzaBoy Advance (GBA) 😄 Just so many good games from my childhood, and now I'll be able to pass down the best gaming experiences from the golden age of games, when games had no dlc, and everything was included in the full version of the games, and pay to win was NOT a thing 🤩 Also game stories were FUN! 😁 I am having the best time 😆❤
andriod 11 will not support apps like retroarch access to your sd card. games will have too be loaded through internal storage until things are updated
btw for everyone confused on the file part, the normal samsung explorer will not show the retroarch files, instead you will need to download a diffrent one, then create your roms folder where you want and put the games in there, now enter retro arch and select that file and you can play the games!
Retro Arch is great, but it took a exile to figure out. I could not get it to search my external, so I copied roms to internal...it has 128gb, so no problem. Thanks and I definitely will subscribe
Thanks for this video! I can't download any core on my Android 9 phone on both versions of Retroarch. Every attempt to download a core fails. On my Android 6 phone I can download some cores but not any for Amiga, N64, PS1, DOSBox, and Finalburn. I was going to copy the cores form my Android 6 phone to the other which doesn't download any cores, but I can't find where the cores are stored. If I go to Settings-->Directory-->Cores it states that they are located in /storage/emulated/0/RetroArch but they aren't there. I used a file browser to browse and search every folder on the phone and can't find the location of the cores. Where are they stored?
Thank you. This was indeed helpul. Somehow this is the only emulator that was possible to map the buttons of my gamepad (ìpega 9076). Tried Snes9x EX and SuperReto16 and it would´t recognise the controller (tried the 2 modes of the controller, both were paired to the phone, it was possible to navigate the mobile with the controller but when I was mapping nothing happened.

My set up for android gaming is a razer kishi as my controller. Then , Thanks to your video about the reset collection, I use that in combination with retroarch. I just love how the reset collection scrapes it's pictures and videos. I use redream for dc and will never use another dc emu.

No there isn't if it doesn't have access to your storage it just won't work because the entire emulator is reliant on the file system to do anything related to settings, game saves screen, shots and more basically any function that adds files.
Hey, bro. I have a question.. (I'm new to all of this, so I am definitely one of the ones you mentioned that may find all this intimidating) So on the Powkiddy X28 (which runs on Android 11 btw) the games are downloaded and played off of an app called Happy Chick, and from what I've seen, one can only play the games on the app. I was wondering, is it possible to go into Retro Arch and find the games that are saved on the Happy Chick app and play them using Retro Arch? And would it be possible to save those games to a folder to be able to play them straight off the X28? And not have to go through the Happy Chick app?

Why can’t I find my games I have looked n looked n looked to no avail but the folder isn’t anywhere to be seen only a folder called retrogames which hasn’t anything in it but I’ve downloaded the core.
The video showed a few things that I didn't quickly find myself so thanks. Speaking of RetroArch, so far I find working with gamepad overlays the biggest culprit. The default Genesis overlay forces 4 (!) buttons on top of my game screen and it feels absolutely bloated and ugly. The default gamepad, even though it lacks 2 buttons, at least puts all this bloat to sides where there's no game screen. Furthermore, it would be very helpful to be able to edit your layout within the app itself and to at least be able to move buttons on the screen. This seems like an easily implementable feature and I have no idea why RetroArch still doesn't have it while so many games on Android provide this feature. With phones having screens that go to the very edge of the device, pressing that C button is pretty much twisting your fingers. Also all hands are different, devices have different sizes etc. So far this is my biggest complain about RetroArch.

If you don't see any cores in the downloader or any touch-screen controls read this: From the HOME menu click "Online Updater", scroll to the bottom, click every single "Update x" button, all of them, don't miss any. Everything should now work. I have no idea why RetroArch puts out a build like this, and there's literally no information anywhere at all about how to set it up. I don't even know why other people don't need to do these steps.

As soon as I insert it and run the file is supposed to ask me to run the Etcher image and choose the SD card, but instead it ask me to select a file to flash, or url to download or clone the card! At this point I really don't know what to do anymore!! Can you please help me or tell me what to do! Thank you!
I have a gamepad for my android. How do you remap the controller for each core? Button "A" and Button "B" are not the smae for SEGA, NES, SNES, etc. I load a core, and remap for SEGA Then I load a core and remap for Nintendo Nothing works. The last remapping just applies to all cores.
I scanned an entire directory for various systems. Nothing populated 😅. I recently updated both Android 14 and RetroArch. Maybe the Android update is related?? RetroArch used to be able to read everything fine before the update. I tried fresh install and still nothing. What could be the problem do you think?

But they are giving you the model of the console and credits to the emulator makers

I think you can turn it on, rotate then turn off. It should lock you into landscape.
