@@iceman60101 i believe he can't legally mention that part, unless you have a physical copy of the game you want to play and rip it and dump it into your phone, otherwise he can't mention the other way for, well, legal purpose. there are tons of emulators in retroarch who each have tons of games it would take forever to show where to get all of them, find any website that distributes ROM dumps depending on the system you want to emulate, they're pretty easy to find
The developer of this app should classify cores according the name of their consoles just to make it easy for normal people to understand these weird names.
Really helpful especially since I kinda felt intimidated by how many cores there were at first Definitely a must watch if you're still a newbie like me

@@Legend_Dale Yeah with a few subtle differences you could take as ether quality of life improvements or minor hindrances... Like instead of having every core having it's own GFX settings there's just one universal one that you have to adjust anytime you want something different... If you already know what you like this can be a headache, but if you have no idea or just like playing around with the settings RetroArch is MUCH EASIER!

Retro Arch is great, but it took a exile to figure out. I could not get it to search my external, so I copied roms to internal...it has 128gb, so no problem. Thanks and I definitely will subscribe
btw for everyone confused on the file part, the normal samsung explorer will not show the retroarch files, instead you will need to download a diffrent one, then create your roms folder where you want and put the games in there, now enter retro arch and select that file and you can play the games!
Thanks for this video! I can't download any core on my Android 9 phone on both versions of Retroarch. Every attempt to download a core fails. On my Android 6 phone I can download some cores but not any for Amiga, N64, PS1, DOSBox, and Finalburn. I was going to copy the cores form my Android 6 phone to the other which doesn't download any cores, but I can't find where the cores are stored. If I go to Settings-->Directory-->Cores it states that they are located in /storage/emulated/0/RetroArch but they aren't there. I used a file browser to browse and search every folder on the phone and can't find the location of the cores. Where are they stored?

(I'm new to all of this, so I am definitely one of the ones you mentioned that may find all this intimidating) So on the Powkiddy X28 (which runs on Android 11 btw) the games are downloaded and played off of an app called Happy Chick, and from what I've seen, one can only play the games on the app. I was wondering, is it possible to go into Retro Arch and find the games that are saved on the Happy Chick app and play them using Retro Arch? And would it be possible to save those games to a folder to be able to play them straight off the X28? And not have to go through the Happy Chick app?

I'm trying to convert an android tv box into a retro gaming console, so far I've downloaded EmuELEC and Etcher, but the problem is that I need to flash my SD card and reprogram (if you could call it that) but for some reason I can't flash it! As soon as I insert it and run the file is supposed to ask me to run the Etcher image and choose the SD card, but instead it ask me to select a file to flash, or url to download or clone the card! Thank you. This was indeed helpul. Somehow this is the only emulator that was possible to map the buttons of my gamepad (ìpega 9076). Tried Snes9x EX and SuperReto16 and it would´t recognise the controller (tried the 2 modes of the controller, both were paired to the phone, it was possible to navigate the mobile with the controller but when I was mapping nothing happened.
I have a gamepad for my android. How do you remap the controller for each core? Button "A" and Button "B" are not the smae for SEGA, NES, SNES, etc. I load a core, and remap for SEGA Then I load a core and remap for Nintendo Nothing works. The last remapping just applies to all cores.

RetroArch used to be able to read everything fine before the update. I tried fresh install and still nothing. What could be the problem do you think?

My set up for android gaming is a razer kishi as my controller. Then , Thanks to your video about the reset collection, I use that in combination with retroarch. I just love how the reset collection scrapes it's pictures and videos. I use redream for dc and will never use another dc emu.

I currently have games in Launcher and games in Retroarch, this bothers me, I tried to add the games in the Launcher but it's only possible with Dig Front-End, which allows you to create RetroArch shortcuts for the Launcher, and this is not compatible with the Chromecast where I'm configuring it, I just want to have the games in a single place, being app or roms in Launcher or Retroarch, I don't care where to find them as long as they're together...

No there isn't if it doesn't have access to your storage it just won't work because the entire emulator is reliant on the file system to do anything related to settings, game saves screen, shots and more basically any function that adds files.
so i've install retroarch on an android box and althought my x-arcade, air mouse, keyboard , mouse , keyboard with trackball, all work with the box, when lauching retroarch none of the above comunicate with retroarch, i understand it expects touches, but usualy a mouse emulates touches. Anyone know how to get the core for Odyssey2? I don't see the option and when I try to load an Odyssey game it only lets me pick a few from their "suggested cores" which doesn't even include Mame. I did add the o2em bin to the system folder.
Have you tried NDS games on this? The botton screen was supposed to be touch screen but instead, for me, it's showing a pointer instead to use the touch screen as a mouse and it makes absolutely no sense on an android device, it's suposed to be like this for mouse, but after almost an hour searching for a way to make it naturally touch screen like MelonDS does, I just gave up.
@@calebbenson3911 Just figured it out earlier today, there are 2 versions of retroarch on android store, "retroarch plus" has all the cores but requires android 8 or newer. If you have an older version there is an .apk you can download from the web and install
The problem I seem to he having is playing anything disc based I can load all my gba snes games that I frequently play but some. Of the ps1 games I've wanted to play on the go I have yet to get running and I feel like it's in the download process

I'd say the app will, it really depends on the requirements the ROM needs to run. I know Pokemon sword& shield needs 8ram

This is a common problem - you're not alone. Try setting up a manual scan instead (3rd option) and see if that helps

Anyone know how to get the core for Odyssey2? I don't see the option and when I try to load an Odyssey game it only lets me pick a few from their "suggested cores" which doesn't even include Mame. I did add the o2em bin to the system folder.
It's definitely helpful but i still need to know how to download games and run them. I'm not understanding this emulation stuff and I really want to.

Have you tried NDS games on this? The botton screen was supposed to be touch screen but instead, for me, it's showing a pointer instead to use the touch screen as a mouse and it makes absolutely no sense on an android device, it's suposed to be like this for mouse, but after almost an hour searching for a way to make it naturally touch screen like MelonDS does, I just gave up.
U can change it from mouse to touch screen

@@calebbenson3911 Just figured it out earlier today, there are 2 versions of retroarch on android store, "retroarch plus" has all the cores but requires android 8 or newer. If you have an older version there is an .apk you can download from the web and install

The problem I seem to he having is playing anything disc based I can load all my gba snes games that I frequently play but some. Of the ps1 games I've wanted to play on the go I have yet to get running and I feel like it's in the download process

Can You Pls Do A Video On How To Apply Cheats cuz the new 1.15 Update whenever I download a Cheat from RetroArch itself and try to run it On Pokemon Emerald it only shows on my Poké ID but when I go in the shop it show the old Amount of Money I previously had and When I try to 2 cheats at the same time it crashes the emulator pls help

Excellent video. I'm trying to put Roms on retroarch. But when I download them they are zips and they wouldn't work, do I have to change the name, and or unip them for them to work? If so how can I unzip them thankyou.
You have to unzip them you can do that from your file explorer
