Just commenting to say that I tried this out on my Retroid Pocket 2+ and am never going back to anything else. Everything else I'd tried on the system was either super fiddly or didn't do certain things I wanted, but this was basically perfect right off the bat. Great suggestion and video as usual Russ.
I absolutely love Daijisho. It is by far the best option. What blows me away the most is how fast and accurate the scraping is, nothing else has caught all my games so well.
ScreenScraper worked pretty well for me on the ArkOS side of things. I must say, I am surprised at how quick the scraping process was with Daijisho though!
hi, did you guys get mame to rename the rom files and scrspe ok? no matter what settings i use it leaves the romnames as they are when importing and so doesnt scrape the artwork??
I have a re-purposed Samsung S10 + that I've been using for emulation. I've been using this front end for a few weeks now and can't believe how easy and more important free it is. Great video.
Oooh. I love how CLEAN this front end is. I'm just beginning to set this up on my Retroid Pocket 3 and this is TOTALLY going on my galaxy tab 8. I wish this was available on Linux, Windows, and Mac.
A snappy and beautiful looking front end is what I've always wanted. While many emulations have the bells and whistles one might need, they can often look very rough or intimidating. This is the best of both worlds, and the set up doesn't seem too bad. Looking forward to trying this with my Retroid.
This is awesome. I had bought a Razer Edge and got a loaded up SD card put into it. However, I had having a painful time trying to play my retro games on it. However, this looks like the exact solution I was needing. Many thanks to you for going over this. It is greatly appreciated. Take care and I will have to check out your Android setup video soon enough as well.
Daijisho has been my primary frontend since my Odin Lite arrived about 2 months ago. One word of caution is that if you change your emulator's display name, it also breaks the wallpaper for that system. Other than that, as Russ has said in his video also, Daijisho is by far and away one of the simplest yet good looking Android front ends out right now. Just wish I had his start-up guide when I started with it. ;)
You can manually update the wallpaper if need be. Tho this is annoying, I've just settled for keeping a folder of my favorite wallpapers on my SD card for easy access.
@@michaelbirmingham1203 saves are emulator dependent, frontends don’t touch them. If your saves aren’t showing up check retroarch (or whatever emulators you are using)
@@michaelbirmingham1203 What James Said. Frontends are exactly that. They are simply launchers for your emulators. All saves and settings are still done from within the emulator itself.
I've tried them all. DIG, Launchbox, Daijisho. Pegasus, and so on... Daijisho is very good and easy to set up, but if you are willing to go through the pain off setting up Pegasus, it looks absolutely gorgeous when it's all done. It's what I'm using for a while now
Does it have the widgets and home launcher built in like daijisho? I only have an android phone as my main emulation system so those features are really nice to have.
It's a great frontend and really easy to set up. It's directly what I needed right now, as I was struggling a little bit in setting up my Flip 👍 Even changing pictures/wallpapers and setting up your own theme bit by bit is well done.
This is an absolutely brilliant frontend. I messed around with Launchbox and given I was using the unpaid version, it only allows for 100 games. Saw you had a video for this and installed it and wow! This is awesome. I'm using my old Samsung A20 which isn't all that powerful but it works good enough.
Best frontend, ever! Thank you so much for this video and many others My rp3+ is amazing! PS2 and GameCube and running really well and setting everything up was almost painless. Sorry to hear about Chicken.
I do really like Daijisho. The only thing that Launchbox has that I wish it did was themes and videos. I really like the game list to show box art with screenshots/videos and details. I hope this gets added
Was hesitant to try this because of my previous experience trying to set up frontends. Always took too much to get looking nice and there were always little nagging issues that kept it from being a good experience. But this was sooo easy to set up. Everything just kinda worked and it all looked and played nice. Ended up setting it to my home button and disabling my lock screen and now my Odin feels less like an Android tablet with a controller, and more like an actual game console. It feels so much easier to just turn the device on and start playing.
Hopefully this is still a pretty up to date guide 🙏 love the channel, been watching for a few months! I'm going to be picking up a rg505 as my first handheld (wanted good PSP emulation at a solid price :) ) and daijisho will def be the front end I use
Just got the RP3+, thinking about Launchbox, but coming here and watching this, this one is the way to go, I got your website bookmark, can't wait to have the system setup.
Thank you for this! Got my sleeping RP2 from the storage. Installed Lineage OS (with your guide as well) and Daijisho. Will sell my RP2 because it is a bit clunky to use compared to a Linux based handheld but this really is a BIG step up. Will be using my RP2 a lot more now.
@@NoKrakana Yes it does. Lineage OS is more lightweight than the stock Android 6. After setting up Daijisho, it is easier to use. Pizzaboy works a lot better than the mGBA Retroarch. There won't be performance upgrades on emulation but just navigating to your games feels a lot better. I think it is worth it to do Lineage OS upgrade at least.
@@NoKrakana Personally, it works better since everything is organized. Plus, it will be a lot easier to navigate around your games once you have it as your default launcher.

I'm currently using Daijisho as my frontend for my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, thereby turning it into a PS2 Portable. I know you're currently bullish on Emulation Station, but you can't beat free. And I already paid over $250USD on the handheld itself, so I don't feel like paying more money for something that I already have in Daijisho that works just fine for me.
I was initially using Launhbox on my Odin Pro and was hesitant about paying for a license, but when I heard about Daijisho, I gave it a try, and there was no going back. It's simple to set up, snappy, and beautiful. I use Pegasus 3.5 for my Odin Lite though. It's interesting to use and compare different frontends.
You forgot about the search function and the search hot key! This is the best front end and it is free. Paid Front ends will have to up their game if they want to keep up.
Thanks for the tip for the retroarch error message, I couldn't figure that out. I just want some different designed themes for Daijisho, but I'm loving it nonetheless.
What kind of issues? I had some trouble at first but ended up creating m3us for all my games (batch process, painless!) and then filtering by only showing m3u files

Are you tempted to try ES-DE now?
Hi, can could you install it on RP2? For me it's not compatible. Could you help me, please?
