    Glad you like my theme (Riivive). Currently working on a new theme, will be adding a lot more system icons. I honestly made Riivive for my own personal use and wasn't expecting it to catch on like it did, so it only had the systems I was using at the time! Also glad to see people have adopted some of the assets I made into their own themes too

  • @IngwiePhoenix

    My favorite frontend is plain RetroArch - but, more specifically, XMB. I wish there was an XMB launcher for Android in general. But also for PC. PCXMB was a thing but it's really hard to come by now, which is quite unvortunately as I personally loved the asthetic of the XMB.

    • @IngwiePhoenix
      @IngwiePhoenix 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Blitzen In Retroarch, yes. But I wish there was a system-wide XMB for Windows - like an app you launch as a fullscreen application and that does what the XMB did. XMBPC used to do that, by SvenGDK. But unfortunately I can neither find him on Twitter, nor any mirrorings of his work. Very unfortunate.

    So glad you've covered Dig. It's a great frontend app that deserves more praise, if only there was more people making great themes for it. Quick question though, have you figured out how to use individual game bezels in this and retroarch on Android. I can get system ones to work but not individual games.

      i was on the same boat and i just finished setup, i actually love it much more then individual emulators. just because i like having the game covers and images for each system. i must say however that i feel it is quicker for me to navigate an individual emulator rather then going in this app. also with certain themes they make the box art huge and the downside to that would be that if that specific emulator has hundreds or thousands of games it takes long to scroll to find the one you want to play. but im currently using it because...it looks amazing lol

    • @stfustfu7765

      @@Mikein203 Well you can hear my expirience as well...I am in emulation for like 3 or 4 months now, and strated playing games on stand alone emulators, and i think i finished Pokemon Emerald, like 50% on stand alone emulator and then the other half while using this frontend...I must say that it is very very nice, i use Wii interface and it looks beautifull! So all in all, i would say you should definetly try it because
      1.It is free;
      2.There are no ads or something, and you can spend money only if you want to support the developers... I was using DIG for maybe 1 month or so, and Reset Collection was the first frontend i used..I must say that DIG is much better option and that it is, not only that it is free (Reset Collectio n is not by the way...), and with no kidding you get much better frontend than the one that costs...
      I have some expirience with the frontends now, and i would like to exchange some knowlegde i gained through this period of 30 days or so...Im a perfectionist, and i prefer to have 3D box arts, it looks alot better than the 2D ones you saw in the video, but youll need to change the box art alone (its not automaticly possible), individually for each game. But believe me, it looks so much better than the 2D ones...The only problem would be that it is hard to find pictures on Google (of those 3d boxes), so even if you type the name od the game and next to it, like 3D box, it wont work all the time (and sometimes youll get Europian box art, and not the North American or something like that)...So uf you want to look for awesome and consise pictures with very nice quality, type "Launchbox" next to the name of the game...This information is gonna save you alot alot of time, believe me. Maybe you already heard the name of that Windows frontend, but whatever (i said just in case you maybe didn't).
      So yeah, i think it's definetly worth your time, and everything looks awesome...Im so addicted to it, that i use it to run android games as well, even if it takes more time to do so rather then using a game shortcut on the homescreen...If you need more information, for something about this topic, ask anytime you want...Hope this helps! Cheers :) .

    • @stfustfu7765
      @stfustfu7765 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is maybe one downside to it, PS1 is having some sort of problems...Essentially you need to run the game you want twice, because int he first try it just crashes and gets you back to the game informations page...I had even worse expirience with different games, the one i mentioned happens on Oddworld: Abe's oddyssey...Metal Gear Solid 1 had even worse scenarios...But that may vary from person to person, im using ePSXe emulator (so maybe thats the problem). But you ahould definetly check it out, not to mention that you get a sinopsis for the each game (you can rate the games as well), and can even see the year they were released. Those were few things i forgot to mention.

      Absolutely 💯! Any developer that continously updates the coding, UI etc basically staying on top of the ball , plus they're application works smoothly or in the process people should withoit a doubt support the developers. If you can't make it yourself and you feel you've gain some kind of assistance ( especially on a daily basis) how could someone not want to let the developers know how proud you are to use their products and what a great service it's worth. Just my 2 cents.

    I also thought it was abandoned as there was an update to the app since last year until recently and also the support forum was over run by spam which has also now been cleaned up.
    I would say Reset Collection is perhaps more newbie friendly if you are new to front ends but I think DiG is still better at the moment cause its themeable.

    I just installed RetroArch to use it with DIG, but I don't even have a third of the emulator cores shown in this video. For example for GBA I have only mGBA available and here we can ass three or more. Is there some setting that adds more cores to the list?

      me too, missing a lot, e.g. the shown "SNES 9x 2010", instead there is only "Nintendo - SNES /SFC (Snes9x - bsnes)" and "Nintendo - SNES /SFC (Snes9x - Current)". Choosing e.g. "....Current" and starting the game in Dig gives me only a black screen.

    I've tried to get it to work and spent hours but this is just not working. Whenever I configure Retroarch, the changes don't stay. I guess it wasn't updated for the latest Android version.

    I really enjoy your channel I’ve learned a lot about emulation lately and And feeling inspired, I went ahead and purchased a Nubia RedMagic pro 5s.
    I’ve never been particularly lucky with retro arch but I’ve never failed so much either.
    I don’t know how you manage to get retro arch working, let alone take a Saturn, or any system that requires a bios.
    Would you be able to do a full tutorial an android 10 and had to go about making it work. I’ve tried for a week and haven’t been able to get anywhere and this is after spending close to $800 on a very nice phone. Thanks again

    Unless if you want to be stylish, I don't think this is necessary if you have retroarch since it's basically just a emulator/plugin loader like retroarch.

    I wish this worked for me. Whenever I try to launch a game the screen just goes black. They work fine if I just start them from Retroarch, but whenever I try launching from Dig, I just get a Black screen and have to force close everything. I've tried using the default cores it asks for, and different cores, but no luck either way.

    • @thedionesian511
      @thedionesian511 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wouldn't for me either. I got it to work but its very specific when it comes to the core you use. If DIG says "SNES9X 2010" it'll only work (or at least for me) with that specific date of core. "SNES9X current" wouldn't work. bsnes (just that...no add ons) works fine but means you gotta reconfigure it though. Hope that helps.

      @@thedionesian511 I initially tried the exact cores that DIG asked for, but it didn't work. I use Dig on my phone and I have to say that unless you are strictly using Retroarch as the backend....it sucks. Most themes do not even have the proper aspect ration for your phone as well as icons for most systems. If you are trying to use this with standalone emulators....best of luck.
