The people who exploited got their own progression ruined by getting a lot of money. But it doesn't really matter since there isn't an auction house to trade items. And also don't play games with action houses and trading between players. Because then it really sucks when the economy is ruined. Because then inflation exists which is really anoying. The price of a sea of thieves item doesn't go up when players have more gold. So the economy can't really be ruined.
Season 3 deserves S for brining sirens and phantoms (our first enemies who were not skeletons), the trident, and showing us our first look into the undersea content.
I wish limited time cosmetics wouldn't look as good as cosmetics that can be obtained anytime. I love redesigning my ship and when I'm going through a list and see something that would look perfect with my set it's far too often that I realize it's a time limited item. I've been playing on and off for a while and have the day one patch which is what I point to for a perfect limited edition item, it's recognizable but nobody is going to be designing a pirate and think "woah! you know what this set needs, that one featureless eyepatch with the number one on it!" They should be more like trophies instead of items that fill a specific niche TLDR: Limited time cosmetics shouldn't look so unique that they become almost or fully necessary for specific cosmetic sets
I completely agree. I’ve played this game for many years but have taken many extended breaks for me to just come back and see something time limited that I missed.
The bone crusher figurehead I swear is the worst example like why can’t I have a kraken skull for a figure head just because I didn’t play sot in its first year

Not proactively adding Trinkets for various time limited things from years before Season 7 seems like a huge missed opportunity. Since they’re meant to show off your Pirate’s story there could’ve been some for things like The Hungering Deep or reaching TSD in Arena
I gotta hop in and defend the hoarders hunt. I have never felt the bond of the community more then working together to solve it and I really hope they bring it back one day with a little more organization
I actually like the raid voyages to a degree. It's pretty nice going on Athena voyages now and getting plenty of Athena loot rather than running several Athena voyages and having more gems and Gold Hoarder loot than Athena. It really made the grind for Merchant distinction less tedious too. The cargo deliveries and lost shipment voyages were just not very fun at all, and the only time I ever focused specifically on Merchant stuff was commodity runs during community weekends. It just wasn't worth the time and effort otherwise, and it still hardly was with the community boosts.

I mostly agree with you on the seasons, except season 8. Only becuase pvp is not my thing and having really cool curses locked away by pvp really annoys me.
Season 9, having dynamic world events, was such a breath of fresh air as a solo. I still remember the days when Ashen Lords took like 40 minutes to kill by yourself
I don't know how long you've been playing fallout 76, but for a while now you've been able to complete the entire pass from LV 1 to 100, sometimes in 3 or 4 days just by killing enemies and getting xp per kill, without having to do the daily and weekly challenges
Yep, If you go to West Tek with all the xp buffs you finish in about 5 hours, for every 10k xp you increase about 10% of 1 lv of the pass, it is recommended to wait for the day that has the double xp event to get 4k xp per kill at west tek, every season there are 2 double xp events, the next one will be in a few weeks
I think that for the Cofs location in season 13, Rare should move it to the Ashen Winds event because it would match the content theme for that season. I also think that Rare should increase the difficulty to the version that it was before season 9's changes to make the event last longer. This would leave room for more PvP before the event ends, giving players more time to try and steal the Cof from opposing crews. This would make the Cof cycle that Rare added more interesting and make season 13 even better than it already is!
I wouldn't be surprised if the CoF stayed at the Fort Of Fortune or had something to do with the new Burning Blade event somehow. And as far as difficulty increases are you talking about one event in particular or all of them?
As someone who overall adores the changes they made in Season 11, I really . . . REALLY . . . wish they had kept tattered parchments in the game. It truly has become so much harder to grind for the Merchant Forager achievement. I hardly ever find fruit crate delivery quests anymore. :'c I hope they take another look at that system and give us a more consistent way of obtaining resource crate delivery quests. =w=
It's a niche, but in season 11 them removing quests for black powder in Athena actually disappointed me so much as a solo stoop. I just loved being able to have on demand funny nukes
Nah, look at how DRG has their season pass. You don't have to pay for it but can do it how much and whenever you want. And there are far better examples where you can pay to fast track your battle pass but you can still grind it out like normal if you want, and the grind isn't bad.
I think that as long as you are able to get in and out quickly, you'll find you can complete a majority of world event Raids before someone else comes to you.

@@JonBardcore Oh absolutely. Personally, I find the game best when I take short breaks and come back, or when I have a specific goal in mind. I always max out a season, then move on to other games and come back for events. I mainly play duo but I go solo when I try to help out newer or returning players (which is the absolute best part of the game in my opinion).
It's kinda crazy to think that people literally dragged their loot all the way to the multiple vendors for years in this game. Selling loot can already be very annoying even with the Sovereigns if you have a ton of individual loot or chests, I can't imagine how miserable it would be to have to put in half an hour just to drag your loot all the way to the middle of the outpost so you can sell it Also hard to imagine how frustrating voyages were when you had to buy maps from NPCs instead of just picking from them all in a table inside your ship
played during the alpha, only a single fort that would ever be active, no skelly ships yet, just players, skeletons from basic quests, and a hell of a simple but time killing way to deliver everything for your rewards, it was rough back then and in day 1, but playing from then to now, all of these additions have saved the game, and if you think just turning stuff in was bad, you should've seen how slow everything originally ranked up
I sometimes play on a non captained ship and man it is horrible delooting at like dagger tooth or port Merrick. I barely remember Golden Sands but both of them are massive outposts and I have literally had to call a friend online just to help me do a loot train. Also an older technique I used to do was get a harpoon rowboat, put all loot on it then detach and harpoon drag it onto the outpost beach usually beside gold hoarder. Granted now with monkey island theres less space to do that.
I absolutely hate two things about sot that has driven me crazy while emissary hunting. 1. You SHOULD NOT be able to drop a flag while a reaper is next to you, I'm sorry but that's such a panzy thing to do. It's just a middle finger to the reaper and of youre on a brig or gally and a sloop is running into the wind you can't do anything to stop it. 2. The dive system and being able to dive away from a fight to preserve your flag. I literally had someone dive a square and a half away, like what??
Basically what you're saying is "solos should not be able to avoid a super unfavourable 4vs1". If pvp Is not toxic because pirate game, then guess what, pirates were also known for completely avoiding battles they couldn't win (they fought each other WAAAY less often that people think they did). If you're not toxic for wanting to sink them, he's not toxic for running.
Then some players would camp those ships so that they can never leave their emissary flag just for the sake of it because reaper players are toxic. 90% of them already spawncamp players for fun, why wouldn't they prevent them from removing flag until they ragequit?
@@JonBardcore I mean, it does cause lag spikes but it works better than I thought it would. Gameplay wise, the BB was pretty fun but I never had a crew to fully enjoy it with. I wish some of the commendations weren't so grindy, especially for the obsidian bones.
I’m usually a fairly positive guy so I don’t think I have any super low ranked seasons. Although I started playing at the very tail end of season 2, so I won’t include seasons 1 or 2. S: 11, 6, 7 A: 9, 12, 5, 3, 4 B: 10, 8 I’m also not gonna say too much because it isn’t out yet, but just going off what we’ve seen of it so far, season 13 looks like it’ll be at least A tier.
@@JonBardcore mainly because that’s when I started playing sea of thieves a lot more and started interacting with new content. Pirates life was great, but I actually have still not done those tall tales. Sunken kingdom meanwhile I’ve gotten just about everything from (I still need 5 more breaths of the sea though), and one of my friends who I play with a ton basically always wants to do at least one shrine/treasury every time we play.
@@JonBardcore I would say season 5, because all the quality of life updates made me want to play the game again, new content is cool, but making what we already have better is incredible because it ranks the whole game up on the fun scale, that and I'd say season 13 for it's new weapons and utitity item (even if the horn of fair winds being so rare is counter productive as it incentivize not using it despite it having a unique and interresting gameplay tweak tied to it) and for favorite features without talking of seasons,take all, auto-hook, potc and monkey island tall tales, walkable/slidable hooks, in that order. And yeah about my first comment I don't "hate" pvp, I just don't feel a need to force a pvp encounter, I usualy just do hourglass when I'm gonna log off, still nice, just not a perfect update since for me it was, a cool thing, and that was kinda it.
I take points away from Season 5 because the fireworks and sitting on the ship can actually slow you down. Fireworks when using a storage crate and sitting down when interacting with the ship.
@@comradesillyotter1537 it’s kind of like cannon flares for me. If they went away, I wouldn’t miss them. When they added cannon flares, they made the smoke worse on your cannon even if you chose not to equip one.
Hate to say it, but not really looking forward to Season 13 too much. As a mostly solo player myself as well who also prefers to avoid fighting other players whenever possible, the Season 13 content just seems like all PVP oriented and not much else.
Personally don't care about missing out on season rewards. I like to wear commendation rewards head to toe. I do HATE tales being timelimited though but I kind of get it when said tales effect the sandbox.
what i don’t like about s12 is the fact that the zip lines make the game feel much more modern. the fact that they were in monkey island made sense to be as the citizens were more advanced and even herman the castaway had to have some way to get around quickly right? but i HATE how if i want to look at an island, say for example thieves haven (arguably one of the best looking in the game), there are ugly ziplines taking away from the beauty that’s already there. even the elevators and shipwrecks have a certain scenic feel to them, but the ziplines just feel crude and out of place. that’s just my opinion though 🤷

Season 8 is for me the second worth season after the season 10. I hate the fact that they promot the fun but delet Arena and replace by this shit 1vs1 mod at the realse. Full bug, absolutly no matchmaking, full of hard cheaters, not functionnal area with runners, better preper have so much chance to win, meta is just run in cirlcle and win or lose. A die and retray but lose money and time with a good new area but bads curse (can t keep your 4 years old personal in skull curse ...) Now it s a bt better but steel less fun and less intersting in any point than the sea dog arena. And finaly this mod + safer seas + and easy quest have kill all pvp interaction in the base game :'(.
@@JonBardcore Yes I do, at S13 release with boosted BB I see lots of interaction but after all fixing and few weeks. All returns as normal not enough ships no interactions like skull of siren song it's already dead (or will die soon). I always hate this 1vs1 unfair mod. I like S13 with "new" isles and new World Event and type of ship, increase from 5 to 6 ships/serv (need 10 ships minimum I think).
i gotta say i feel a little schadenfreude watching this game fail so hard now. sure it gained a few players with ps5 release but it's really just in the gutter overall and i'm pretty sure it's basically maintenance mode now. shame they neglected pve players for so long. they could have supported the game for many more years with robust content/xpac releases by inviting pve players into the game. instead they spit into pve player's eyes with the safer seas watered down trash. oh well. i won't be looking at their next title everwild, which may be vaporware anyway. rip rare, you coulda been a contender, but you threw it all away.

I used to do West Tek runs to level up my character and get like 100 score per level that way.

Basically what you're saying is "solos should not be able to avoid a super unfavourable 4vs1". If pvp Is not toxic because pirate game, then guess what, pirates were also known for completely avoiding battles they couldn't win (they fought each other WAAAY less often that people think they did). If you're not toxic for wanting to sink them, he's not toxic for running.
Then some players would camp those ships so that they can never leave their emissary flag just for the sake of it because reaper players are toxic. 90% of them already spawncamp players for fun, why wouldn't they prevent them from removing flag until they ragequit?

Shrine and treasure are some of the best content but as a solo player yeah can't touch them unless it's the first thing I'm doing when I login

Nearly at the end of Season 13, how do you feel about the BB content now?
@@JonBardcore I mean, it does cause lag spikes but it works better than I thought it would. Gameplay wise, the BB was pretty fun but I never had a crew to fully enjoy it with. I wish some of the commendations weren't so grindy, especially for the obsidian bones.
I’m usually a fairly positive guy so I don’t think I have any super low ranked seasons. Although I started playing at the very tail end of season 2, so I won’t include seasons 1 or 2.

I’m also not gonna say too much because it isn’t out yet, but just going off what we’ve seen of it so far, season 13 looks like it’ll be at least A tier.

@@JonBardcore mainly because that’s when I started playing sea of thieves a lot more and started interacting with new content. Pirates life was great, but I actually have still not done those tall tales. Sunken kingdom meanwhile I’ve gotten just about everything from (I still need 5 more breaths of the sea though), and one of my friends who I play with a ton basically always wants to do at least one shrine/treasury every time we play.
Update: after almost a month into season 13, this is my new second favorite season behind season 11 in S tier.
not really on the same side as you on the arena season, for me it was an empty one, but it is in fact a very good season for people wanting to pvp

@@JonBardcore I would say season 5, because all the quality of life updates made me want to play the game again, new content is cool, but making what we already have better is incredible because it ranks the whole game up on the fun scale, that and I'd say season 13 for it's new weapons and utitity item (even if the horn of fair winds being so rare is counter productive as it incentivize not using it despite it having a unique and interresting gameplay tweak tied to it) and for favorite features without talking of seasons,take all, auto-hook, potc and monkey island tall tales, walkable/slidable hooks, in that order. And yeah about my first comment I don't "hate" pvp, I just don't feel a need to force a pvp encounter, I usualy just do hourglass when I'm gonna log off, still nice, just not a perfect update since for me it was, a cool thing, and that was kinda it.
also give me a sort of guild isle where you can hang out with your guild
I take points away from Season 5 because the fireworks and sitting on the ship can actually slow you down. Fireworks when using a storage crate and sitting down when interacting with the ship.
You can disable sitting down and fireworks are easily filtered with firework crates - but firearms are useful for filtering cannon barrel slots too

@@comradesillyotter1537 it’s kind of like cannon flares for me. If they went away, I wouldn’t miss them. When they added cannon flares, they made the smoke worse on your cannon even if you chose not to equip one.
I'll give you sitting. Glad they gave us the option to disable that in settings. And I WISH we had filters for storage crates.
Hate to say it, but not really looking forward to Season 13 too much. As a mostly solo player myself as well who also prefers to avoid fighting other players whenever possible, the Season 13 content just seems like all PVP oriented and not much else.
How do you feel about it now, almost two months later?
Personally don't care about missing out on season rewards. I like to wear commendation rewards head to toe.
I do HATE tales being timelimited though but I kind of get it when said tales effect the sandbox.

what i don’t like about s12 is the fact that the zip lines make the game feel much more modern. the fact that they were in monkey island made sense to be as the citizens were more advanced and even herman the castaway had to have some way to get around quickly right? but i HATE how if i want to look at an island, say for example thieves haven (arguably one of the best looking in the game), there are ugly ziplines taking away from the beauty that’s already there. even the elevators and shipwrecks have a certain scenic feel to them, but the ziplines just feel crude and out of place. that’s just my opinion though 🤷

@@BeerusPlaysSoT ... no that is definetly not even close to what he meant, he was most likely thinking of the stuff like "jungle inferno pass" the one where you accept missions and get points for doing those while in game and then you can claim some rewards for that but that system is not as linear as a battle passes
A limited time event where players earned some form of points through actions in game that would then be used to unlock cosmetics. I'd consider that a battle pass, no?

That's fair! I think it's just a matter of what's exclusive permanently versus temporarily.
Season 8 is for me the second worth season after the season 10. I hate the fact that they promot the fun but delet Arena and replace by this shit 1vs1 mod at the realse. Full bug, absolutly no matchmaking, full of hard cheaters, not functionnal area with runners, better preper have so much chance to win, meta is just run in cirlcle and win or lose. A die and retray but lose money and time with a good new area but bads curse (can t keep your 4 years old personal in skull curse ...) Now it s a bt better but steel less fun and less intersting in any point than the sea dog arena. And finaly this mod + safer seas + and easy quest have kill all pvp interaction in the base game :'(.

@@JonBardcore Yes I do, at S13 release with boosted BB I see lots of interaction but after all fixing and few weeks. All returns as normal not enough ships no interactions like skull of siren song it's already dead (or will die soon). I always hate this 1vs1 unfair mod. I like S13 with "new" isles and new World Event and type of ship, increase from 5 to 6 ships/serv (need 10 ships minimum I think).
i gotta say i feel a little schadenfreude watching this game fail so hard now. sure it gained a few players with ps5 release but it's really just in the gutter overall and i'm pretty sure it's basically maintenance mode now. shame they neglected pve players for so long. they could have supported the game for many more years with robust content/xpac releases by inviting pve players into the game. instead they spit into pve player's eyes with the safer seas watered down trash. oh well. i won't be looking at their next title everwild, which may be vaporware anyway. rip rare, you coulda been a contender, but you threw it all away.
Safer seas was never meant to be for pve players? It’s was made for new players to get used to things and for tall tales

played some once human, first descendant, skull and bones since this post, playing wh40k sm2 currently. i do miss SoT cause it's actually a pretty special game, but just not for me on high seas.
