You know someone is talented on an instrument when they don't even look at it while playing. All these guys are fantastic musicians, but Michael Cleveland is unreal!
Im old so I remember Jimmy Martins release of this tune. (1956)? Victor Jordan on the ole 5, Vernon Derrick on mando. Jimmy on guitar. Then J D joined the Sunny Mountain Boys. We always played this in A Major.
@@williamgage7447 It's when they're into the second round and Patrick finishes and Jake starts. Pat leans in to Mike and says something and mike's response had Patrick cracking up
Mike Cleveland...damm...easy, wow the riffs on the Mandy...wow..I recognize the fiddle player..RedLine Audi Blaylock player, met them at the home place, Audi still has personals stored at my mom and dads place. Great friend, these guys are just plain great. Wow
I remember when 2 of these pickers, Russ and Patrick used to pick for Audie Blaylock. They were great then and are awesome NOW!!!! Jimmy Martin recorded this back n tha day with J D on banjer and Vernon Derrick on mando. I pick regularly with an awesome blind banjo picker. Name is Wayne Harris. Weve played in same bands off and on for 44 years. Blind guys ROCK.
Now that is some get on down with your bad self playing boys!! I can't get enough of it. Been binge watching since yesterday when I discovered this channel. Best channel I'm subscribed to! Keep up the music!
Takes me back to the Jimmy Martin instrumental album Big and Country- where they used electric mandolin on this piece. This version is the only emulation of that I've heard since it was first done back in 1965. you can compare them just search "big and country Jimmy Martin" on TH-cam.
This is so awesome to try to play along with all of you men, about 1/4 the way into it my right hand melts down and I cant stop laughing ,sometimes I make it half way through but I cant thank you enough for showing this,I'm having alot of fun up here in northern Minnesota out in the middle of nowhere lol
First heard this tune ages ago by JImmy Martin with Crowe on his "banger" banjo and Vernon Derrick on fiddle (see You Tube video).Patrick Mcaveenie in this version is a likely replacement for Bobby Hicks on fiddle.
Have a question about this version which I love. Does this by any chance have another title as well? When I do a search for any tutorials on this tune it always comes up with Bela's version and not this version. Anyone know where I can find this version??
what version of big country is this? I've been searching online for a tutorial on this version buut cannot find one. All I find is the bella fleck version.
