Absolute blinding job as per usual mate. I'm soooooooo impressed. And I couldn't agree with you more about TV 😂 Keep up the great work, you're a restoration wizard
Looks like it came out very nice. All it takes is some time and ability to make some things look and function like new. And like myself, you two seem to enjoy doing these projects also. A win win in my book. Thumbs Up to the both of you...
What a beautiful job! I've never heard of that Pledge Revive-It before but I've got it on my shopping list now for sure. I restore mowers all the time (mostly rear wheel drive Toro Personal Pace mowers here in the US) and getting the black plastic to look good has always been a problem. Thanks so much for the tip!
Great content love all the health and safety tips too just one thing to point out tho learning from experience don't spray with the open flame gas fire on in the background I've had a flash back before spraying hope this helps.
I agree Martin I love working on mowers. Especially antique and vintage mowers. I think they’re a part of history and it’s a shame that people can just throw them away because they need to be rebuilt and they don’t think that the cost is feasible I love restoring and rebuilding them it’s just a labor of love and even if I don’t make a ton of profit off them and I break even that still knowing that in my mind I have saved something that could be saved from going to the crusher and it lives on to mow again
retrorestore your welcome And I definitely agree it can also be a really good hobby and I like the way that you restore them including the cosmetics. I try to restore every Push mower and garden tractor I get Fully cosmetically and mechanically but I will admit there are have been a few and I have one now that might not get a full cosmetic redo it’s a garden tractor that I’m working on but I try my best to restore them to expert spec most of the time within budget.
That Pledge really brought the plastic back to new. It's £14.99 on Amazon and on Ebay £20.99 currently. Lovely looking mower, good job Martin and Gary. Nice to see Sharon.
Blimey ! What a lovely task , that pledge stuff does a treat on plastic then must work on car bumpers as well better than back to black ? Nice one Martin and Gary 👌
Wow you have done a great job of doing that mower up. Must get some of that pledge revive it as my car has some faded plastic areas that need reviving.
Hi Martin yet another great Restore, can you successfully use that Pledge Revive It (before I purchase) on car bumpers/vinyl externally as current stuff I’am using looks/works great but doesn’t last more then three weeks or so before it fades & needs doing again, your info welcome please? 👍🏻
retrorestore Hi Martin trust your all keeping well, I went ahead & applied the Pledge Revive to my cleaned front lower plastic on my Vw touran & noticed that when it got wet it forms milky cloudy spots which then stay on finish, any idea why that is surely after applying to a floor you can wash with water & not expect this to happen?
That looks great Martin and you're right the Pledge in wonderful. My I ask where you got the Pledge from it varies a lot in price on the Internet. Well done!
Hi Martin mower looks great, but a bit off subject but I would like to ask you about the powder coating, I have seen you use the chrome effect powder with colours which gives a great effect, what I would like to ask is, have you used the chrome on its own?, if so how effective does it look? if classic car bumpers etc were powder coated would they look effective? like the original chrome? cheers mate, appreciate you vids.
Yes Fred, I did a meat mincer on my retrohax channel all chrome. You do need to clearcoat the chrome with a clear powder to protect the chrome though to make it hard wearing.
Tip for black plastic. Using things like pledge etc gives very short lived effect so it is good for the day you sell it but no good for the new owner. If you want to revive faded black plastics (only works on black, soft plastics) use heat gun and "re-melt" the surface. It looks factory line new and stays that way for another decade. Some other plastics, like hard say red cutting level handles or handle bar screws do not react with heat other than burning to a crisp lol. Use WD-40 as it is "absorbed by the plastic (doesn't leave a greasy layer on top only) and returns the colour, say 90% to plastics which otherwise wee almost white. BTW, your paint job normally would cost more than the mower ;).
looks good i have always used a bit of wd40 to shine them up but i don't restore them i service and repair them for customers and no one is going to pay me to do all that lol
I'm surprised you didn't spray the underneath of it as its immaculate on top. Just saying... not that I've done anything like this before, just hate rust.
It's nice work Martin but it's all about getting em in cheap so there's enough meat on em at turnaround... The better known brands are worth servicing & tidying up...🇬🇧☺️
That’s the difference between your self and other you tubers Martin your jobs always come up top notch
Nice work Gary and Martin! I am going to try out the pledge for my plastics. Thanks for the tip.
