Most impressive consensus I've come accross so far is Cerberus. Can run on pretty much anything (I've seen people run it on Raspberry Pi's) and can dynamically scale up or down to as many TPS as needed. The more nodes, the faster it gets, without any upper limits. Meaning as the network grows so does throughput in TPS.

Great content as always Guy! Just one comment, it`s a consensus mechanism and not algorithm. Algorithm is a sequence of steps that is done by a computer or someone isolate, whereas mechanism is sequence of steps to be done my a collective of people(using computers or not, multiple nodes for instance). Difference explained by Vitalik when talking abt consensus.

I love your show;
As a former crypto miner and a lover of games, my opinion may be bias but I believe proof of work is superior for many reasons most of which you stated here. The best reason for me is that no one person can dictate the rules or change the rules on the fly. The rules are clear for all to see. Any change in the rules has to be voted on by everybody and as long as you play by the rules you get paid. It doesn't matter if you have $5,000 invested or $500 million as long as you have skin in the game. If you act badly or even try to, you can be pruned from the network. It's game theory, and the chain that plays the game the best right now is Bitcoin.
Don't get me wrong, I'm invested in other cryptos and I have high hopes for some of them, but for right now...
Security and decentralization has to be my pick because it is UNSTOPPABLE!
