There’s a world of difference between tracking someone’s financial habits and spying on someone so you can use the government to penalize them. If you happen to have a low credit score you can commission a law firm to challenge any marks against you, my brother got his credit from below 550 to over 720 in like 6 months. Definitely recommend looking into it if your credit is subpar.

      Still,
I know Western countries will at least _try_ to implement an across the board social credit system
      (CBDC?

The Social Score is actually the lesser evil of the two; Social Score and the Credit Score (that the entire Anglo-Saxon world is based on). In the Social Score system there are multiple facets of life a person can correct if something goes wrong versus the Credit Score system that entire life in Anglo-Saxon countries is based on. Practically if you screw your Credit Score in US, Canada, UK, etc. good luck finding rent, work, etc. as the entire system is based on the borrowing power and not on the purchasing power. Just a thought.

Living in Hong Kong, I have made frequent trips to China and boy did I made a fool of myself.
Even though I knew the whole Social Credit Score was an exaggeration, curiosity DID get the best of me. I have actually went and asked a cashier at a Lawson if me buying a cigarettes would lower my Social Credit Score. I also baffled a HSR station attendant by enquiring how I can get discounts for train tickets by helping old people across the road.
Can you imagine how that is perceived by a Chinese? You are just working your typical 9-9 job and some jackass who can barely speak the language come in and start sprouting wild fantastic stories he read in the news and ask for discounts.
They must think there are some deranged conspiracy theorists in Hong Kong / the West. 🤣

According to some sources - which I urge to treat with a grain of salt just so - it has been made illegal by their equivalent of Supreme Court, and while it tells a lot about legal system there, it also provides insight why significant number of people might be not able to repay their debt, even ordered by the court.

We have a credit score in america that is a massive breach of privacy. And it was not created by the common people who also did not voted for it. Instead a bunch of old people wanted to tilt the scale of the economy in thier favor by labeling all people that are "risky investmens" under a low credit score. This does weed out risky investments but at the cost of privacy, smaller chances for young people, less investment opportunitys from companys losing on bad investments, and less inovation why would you advance your product if you can always find the customer that will buy it? abolishing the credit score would open alot of opportunity and we would see a huge amount of wealth flowing back into the younge and common peoples hands which is how i know that it wont happen

Ok consider this: AI takes over 90% of work and people need to receive money somehow. The only sensible way of diving the pie is by some form of social credit. If you look at it from this point of view China is the only country ready for AI 😮😮😮

I have relative lives in China, social credit is never an issue for them. So, Idk y the Western always talk about it. The social credit system almost looks invisible lol

Thank you for this video, Guy. I was one of the ppl that thought the Black Mirror episodes were already happening in China 😅 Good to know the actual facts and that it's not THAT bad (at least, not yet).
