First time I tried this, I thought my AirPods were not connected and the sound was playing from my iPad's speaker. My wife was next to me so I turned my head towards her instinctively since I thought I was now loudly playing this movie, and that's when I realized it was the spatial audio feature and only I could hear it. Honestly pretty impressed.

If you are watching a movie, and you turn around, the sound from the tv is still coming from the tv, but behind you now. These headphones so that. Instead of keeping the sound in the headphones as if you are still looking at the tv.

Yeah it’s wild. Especially if the movie you are watching supports Dolby atoms, it’s really immersive. He’s right, it sounds like a move theater, not headphones.
wait is this useful for video? Doesn't it just sound like how it would be if you weren't wearing earphones? lol I rather have a surround sound feel than thinking it's coming from the phone. I feel like it's doing the opposite of what earphones do. They're supposed to immerse you in the sound, but this feature because make it feel like the sound is coming from your phone speaker instead of having it evenly into your ears.
@@0vershadow no it is actual surround sound. However the place the sound is coming from does not move if you move your head. That’s why it feels a bit like being in a movie theater. Its a technology that is difficult to describe and you might have to try it yourself to understand what I mean(its really good though - best headphone surround sound I’ve ever heard).

This is a game changer. I frequently travel and tend to watch a lot of movies and TV shows while traveling. Now I can imagine myself in the cinema while traveling. It's great!
I just bought a par of AirPods Pro. The transparency feature is somewhat hearing aid technology. Noise cancellation initially was felt as if my ears are stuck with mucus. However the bass is better than the previous AirPods. Good product 👍

Truly, I think the audio engineering lab at Apple’s headquarters is truly next level. My friend has a HomePod in her apartment and talks about how weird it is that it sounds so much bigger than it is just by the way it’s bouncing sound waves off surfaces.

Just yank out them pods man, I don't even use Apple products but I know that AirPods recognise when you take out your pods. The sound will then go to your phone and boom. Unless this is a joke and imma get wooooshed soon.

that's not how it works. it doesn't track the relative direction of the phone, but instead it calculates direction based on your head movement.
The spatial audio might be a COVID rollout, because people can’t go the theatre these days.

These device has been sitting in their rnd lab as a prototype probably for more than a year or even 2. Like every device ever. They dont just rollout new prototype in few months.

@@Haz1Art yeah, everytime people laugh at Apple for taking years to come out with stuff they don't realize just how much of what they release has been sitting on the shelf waiting. For instance, it didn't take them years to figure out how to do wireless charging - they just like to hold onto their cards for as long as they can. Technologically, there was nothing stopping them from doing this spatial audio years ago either. They time things to try to optimize their profits.

Bro, your ears will thank you if you get something critically acclaimed. I miss wired headphones sometimes as good as my Beats wireless pro are because when I use my portable amp on my ATH-M50 and the soundstage opens up the music sounds completely different with so much more detail, sounds I didn’t know were there and the bass gets super tight and powerful...but then it’s hard to go back cuz you notice how constrained the frequencies are on budget stuff. It’s just tough to jog with a wired set that’s non-sweat proof and has extra wires with the amp 😆 I miss NYc subways for that reason...

Wow, spatial audio from what I l've seen in this video seems to really change how we use headphones. Amazing innovation by Apple
I can attest to how awesome virtualisation is. I can't remember what phone I was using at the time, but I had 5.1 and 7.1 headphones and was doing the whole Dolby setup and it was an experience. It shook me. I'm considering going back to that life again soon

Spatial audio is actually good for VR experiences and it already works well for several years. In that case, the VR headset is using it's various sensors to understand your position and orientation in space. It does all the calculations and manipulations on the sound (check out ambisonic audio). The experience is like you are using a static set of speakers in the room as oppose to an earphone set which moves and spins around with the user.
I was watching something on Netflix the other day and even though it said the content didn't support Spatial Audio , I *swear* it was active. It was a listening experience I'd never had before.

Loved the music you used through most of the review. Apple has done a mostly great job with their syngergy between software and hardware throughout the years. I’ll say, their software may lack features found on other similar software, but what they do have, they do well.

Audeze Mobius is an over the ear version of this headphone. Plus they have more settings that help reposition the sound if you’re in the train / bus / vehicle that naturally changes direction.
