I was today days old when I learned that you press both buttons at the same time. I always did so sequentially which took half a second more than I am comfortable with of someone staring at me while I go through that. Thank you!

Ok, so my take : I’ve had the AirPod Max since august 2021 and I still like them a lot. They are very confortable (even though I’m VERY petite), excellent build quality (mine still look like new), great sound sound really good. BUT… I also got the latest AirPods Pro recently. And I have to say that unfortunately the technology in the AirPods Max is now obsolete. I agree, they still have their qualities, but Spatial Audio and noise cancelling are not up to par compared to the new generation. So, are they still great? Yes, and I still use my Max almost all day, everyday at work (open space office…). But there is NO way they are worth the fulll price now. Although it seems like they’re never going to come, I say wait for the new version. Or try to buy the current version on sale. Just for context, I use the Max’s for listening to music, in the office, or while travelling (planes), while I use the Pro’s when walking, in public transportation, at the gym. So they both have their specific usefulness for me. Can’t wait for the new Max to come out!!!!
Is the only headphone that allowed me to speak with somebody without reducing volume, everything sounding natural, like listening music in the room. Spatial Audio sounds on this, like on no other headphone. Movies are also a great experience. Still my fav wireless .
Totally agree with you this is the best purchase I have done. This headphone is a bomb and of course as a bomb it is kind heavy but my neck is getting used to it.

I had the Sony MX4 at first & took them back to get the MX5, but after about a week I took them back & for the APM because I love the sound quality & the pairing with all of my Apple devices. I got my wife a pair 2 weeks later for her birthday & she loves them.

I was thinking about getting a pair, but there are rumors that new APM are coming out later this fall, and I already have AirPods Pro 1 and they work fine, so I might as well just wait for the upgraded version with type c charging and better chip hopefully

I have tried AirPods Max in the Apple brand store and I was pleasantly surprised in terms of comfort, sound quality, noise reduction, etc. It is an excellent product!
At this point, AirPods (not headphones) are the greatest pieces of Bluetooth audio tech ever invented if you have an apple eco-system. You can run, workout, you don’t even know you have them on, they are so easy to put in your pocket, you don’t get fatigue, it is half the price of this headphones, and mine has been still doing good after 3 years. I also have the Sony mx4, and I love them, but at the end of the day, I realize that AirPods are just the greatest

I got my Max's last year and they have been amazing. I bought them from Walmart for $100 off original price and although they are still pricey i would def do it over again.
They're nice, but I'm gonna hold on to my dollars and see what they do with Gen2. Mostly due to that silly case and not being able to turn it off...
Hopefully gen 2 comes out soon! They could make it lighter, add lossless audio, and yeah definitely improve the power situation.

I've had mine since Feb 2021. No issues, no failures. I wear them washing my car, riding my bike, and just walking around.
Just went into the Apple Store to test the AirPod Max out and I was extremely disappointed. The ANC was awful and nowhere near as good as my AirPod Pros(Gen 2). Build quality is incredible but the fact these are like £500 with WORSE ANC means you should really avoid these unfortunately. Thank god I tried these for myself and not just relied on TH-cam reviews! Take my advice and try them for yourself before buying

There is a problem where condensation kills the AirPods connectors from the headband to the ear shells. Sometimes you can clean them, but a lot of times not.
Mine died and I need to pay 353 euros for repair or they stay as they are and are just expensive ear warmers

I don't get why reviewers all talk about how using metal means better build quality. No one else uses metal because it makes the headphones much heavier. You don't need metal. I travel all over for work and have never had my headphones damaged.
The ONLY thing I still wish my AirPods Max’s had ? A dedicated power on/off button. Other than that ? 0 regrets on my end.

I got these ones and now have a question: I have a kind of a white noise while in transparency/ANC modes. Is it alright or my maxs are broken? When I use them in no transparency/ANC modes, there's almost no this white noise.

You can hold your palm up to the sony ear cup and it will dim the music and tun on transparency.
(XM4 not sure if the XM5 does that.)

I never had the disconnect problem owning them from day 1 they were available here… But when they are not on my head they are in their case or the travel case.

Great video. One of the early criticisms of spacial audio music was its inconsistent quality. Some music producers were head and shoulders better at mixing and bringing a quality audio surround experience than others. Have you found more music being produced by better producers or is the genre still ignored by musicians?
I would say they are definitely giving it attention on Apple Music, I always see them adding new albums and artists discographies to spatial audio
New A List releases usually have pretty good Dolby atmos mixes, I don’t know about smaller artist tho.
Just got the Bose Ultra. I also have the Airpods Max. My Airpods Max have connections problem. In the subway it takes like 10 mnts to connect. Apple can't fix them. They also gave me a new pair same problem. Sound is very good.

I got mine January 2021 at an open box price from Best Buy. They've been great and the build quality makes them feel like they can last for years. I hope apple changes the port to USB C soon though.
I bought a pair in April 2022 new from Best Buy because there weren’t any Certified Geek Squad pairs available and soon returned them after a couple weeks because of the high price and felt comfortable with my Air Pods Pro at the time. After coming back from vacation last August and seeing a lot of people on the airplane wearing regular headphones (a majority being Air Pods Max), I fiqured I would check back to see if Best Buy had the ones I wanted. They did and I got them for under $400. Still use them.

I have the airpods pro 2 and for headphones have only ever used Beats, which all broke. For my next set of headphones, I plan on waiting for the next gen of these, as I heard they are planning something later this year

THe Maxes completely disconnecting from my devices is definitely one of the most annoying things about these. Ever. I don't use the included case, I just simply don't, and having to hold the Digital Crown and Noise Control button always brings the possibility to completely reset the device which is not what I intend to do most of the time!
I just sold my white AirPods Max for 400 euro, and bought smaller AirPods Pro 2 Type C. The reason was that it is extremely uncomfortable to travel with, because they are large and take a lot of backpack space. Lightning is another con. And the biggest con for me was the lack of new features that AirPods Pro have.

Transparency and build quality are great. Battery health has been fantastic, though 20 hrs is short compared to my sennheiser Momentum 4.
Buttons on the max are great.
Looks stylish. Case is handy for travelling. I thought the Airpods Max turn off automatically after 15mins. Sennheiser is more frustrating as it turns on and connects when you don't want it to. Sony whxm3 case is how everyone should do it.
Sennheiser wins on audio quality. Airpods max win for seamless working with other Apple devices.
Great to have the choice. Tends to be bots who are denying people choices.
Lightning is a plus for those using iPhones with lightning (in using android and iPhone 13 pro).

They were never worth it. They don't sound good and they don't even have an on/off button. You need to be a special kind of Apple D-rider to actually think this sh*t's any good.
I was so excited to get mine but, the design is terrible; it's very heavy, battery doesn't last very long and it won't turn off unless you put it back into its "purse" i.e. case! Which means if you lose the case, you'll never be able to turn it off! Stupid design! IMHO!
These things are really a POS compared to a Bose QCII. Mine completely died after 15 months of light use. They will connect to the Apple products but no sound......the noise reduction completely died. Apple of course will not honor the Apple care that is still valid. The sound of the Apple is slightly better. If you don't mind feeling like your head is in a vice after about an hour of wearing, the earcups seal a little bit better than the Bose. Overall for the extra couple of hundred bucks to pay for the Apple name....... you're not getting a product that is as good as the Bose. The only real benefit to the Apple is that they are more physically durable than the Bose but for what you pay for these things you can buy two sets of Bose that are more comfortable and electronically reliable.
in my opinion its not worth to pay 550$ hell no i have apple eco system i have iphone, ipad , mac, apple watch, earpods still i prefer sony xm4 over airpods max ,bose and sony xm5 because it has more battery life sound quality is also amazing only it lack on transparency mode if you compare it with airpods max. xm4 is cheaper than many other headphone and its working amazingly
I’ve had the AirPods Max for a little over a year now, I bought them the night before a ten hour plane ride and they’re honestly a game changer. As a college student they’re a daily necessity, I don’t leave the house without them. Noise cancellation is great I wear them while studying, walking to class, eating lunch, I even started wearing them to the gym and the experience really isn’t that bad. Yes they are expensive but keep your eye out for refurbished pairs. I got mine from Best Buy for about $100 off and that’s still a lot of money but I genuinely have not once regretted the purchase.
People need to stop using game changer for things that are not game changers lmaooo

The mesh sagged like after 3.5yrs. I bought a silicone filler to cover the ugly sagging of the mesh. Totally zero elasticity now.
Anyone else having issues with condensation water inside of it? well i’ve used them in the gym which I don’t recommend AT ALL. One day later i used them for like 30mins and it still kinda formed a bit of condensation on the side. I immediately bought Apple care+ cause I was scared so ig im save now if anything happens right?

I’ve had the max for almost 2 years now. I really do not have an issue with the case or the fact they don’t fully turn off. No version of AirPods fully turn off. Everything is always ready to connect once they emerge from their case. Just get in the habit of putting them away. It’s really that easy. 💯

Just got mine and i love it actually.
The connectivity issues are real and infuriating. However, it seems like it’s only an issue after 1-1.5 yrs, and not caused by not using the case. I’ve had 2 pairs of Air Pod Max’s and both had huge Bluetooth connectivity issues after 1 yr+. I got AppleCare for the 2nd pair, and Apple had to replace the left earcup, which I guess is the source of the connection issues. The Genius Bar employee seemed to indicate it’s a common issue, so it’s likely substandard parts/a design defect.
The way the Airpods Max work is that the dual H1 processors are connected by a lightning-type interface in a connection that goes through the headband with pogo pads on the inside of the cups that really have the spring loaded pieces making contact with those pads. The problem is that nothing is shielding that place where trash and dust can get into and all around that connection. What I did to fix mine is that I took the earcups off with the sim-eject tool, cleaned the big metal stems and metal contacts with a q-tip with 99% isopropyl then when that dried I took another q-tip and put a very very light layer of dielectric grease on each side of the contact pads and re-assembled them. They work better than when they were new. No more random reboots, no more disconnects, no more connection problems at all that I won't have because of firmware updates. Fixes them completely.

Thank you for such a wonderful review. I have been dreaming about these headphones since 2020, but the price, then and now, is, to put it mildly, biting. At the moment I am the owner of Bose Quiet Comfort 35 headphones. I won’t say that these are bad headphones, but if the ear pads become unusable due to sweat and it’s not always possible to replace them, you know, it’s annoying. As I understand it, AirPods Max ear pads do not have this problem. The only advantage of the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 headphones is the presence of a wired connection if there is no way to charge. Airpods Max, as far as I know, are deprived of this opportunity because even if they are zero-wired, the wired connection will allow you to listen to music. As for weight, probably after Bose, Airpods Max will be a little heavy, although to be honest, sometimes I got tired of Bose.
My luxurious AirPods Max broke after 2 years!!! while a cheap $79 JBL headphone still working 5 years after purchase.

I love mine but suddenly after a couple of years they disconnect if I bump them.... they are way better sounding than SONY or BOSE or BEATS I have them all... but I am really annoyed that suddenly they are failing.
Hey so I know this comment is quite old, but you might be dealing with corroded pins between the headband and the earcups. Try taking the earcups off the band by using a sim eject tool in the little hole near the top under the removable magnetic earpads.
Then take a q-tip with rubbing alcohol (near 99% is best) or contact cleaner without lubricant, and scrub both the pins of the headband and inside the hole where the headband connects carefully but thoroughly. Then click the earcups back onto the headband. This helped me, maybe it helps you. Have a good life!

Airpods 3rd Gen sound better than Airpods Max, a 400 dollar difference.
Don’t even consider Max’s, get Airpods Pro if you really need the ANC
I love the sound quality of the APM but imo they’re so heavy and uncomfortable. The Bose QC45’s are such a great choice
Faux leather just wears out. That’s what happened to my Bose. Air Max is better. It’s the build and Bluetooth integration with Apple devices that set these apart. The only thing I hate is the case and having to put them in the case to switch them off.
Im gonna get it today. Waited since last year for them to do an update. now I just gave up. Probably selling them and buying the next gen as soon as they come out

they are not waterproof and dont stay on super well, go with the airpod pro 1 or 2, 2s are better though

My main take is, not worth to get the max.. get the airpods pro 2 instead, it's the best bang for your bucks. More than twice as cheap, much better audio quality, smaller form factor. Anyone that tells u the max sounds great and its worth the $550 is lying... Try it for yourself and decide.. don't just try the max, try other headphones or earbuds and see yourself. If you still like the max (for other functions or whatever), then get it...
Reviews can't afford to "offend" apple. most reviews r untrue, especially if its a good buy or not, such as this.
The people who are really stupid are the ones who think that they are not enough because Airpods Max do not have the USB-C charging port.
