Happy to hear that you visited Kuzguncuk. It is my most favorite neighborhood in Istanbul. Actually, the whole coastal region from Beylerbeyi Palace to Anadolu Feneri is gorgeous, especially in May.
So good to see you guys back! And perfect timing, too, because we're planning our anniversary trip to Istanbul (+ Izmir & Cappadocia) in Feb! We got your guide - it's extensive and well thought out - and it will definitely save us time and effort in planning the Istanbul portion!
I have been watching over 30 videos of Istanbul and I am surprised there are not so many ancient sites/monuments making the top lists. By ancient I mean like before the ottoman era. This city has such rich history tracing back to over 2000 years thus I was expecting more mentions of those things. I don't even see the walls of Constantinople being named that much.
Thank you for adding maps to your videos. It is quite hard to know the spelling of certain recommendations and the maps make it easier. For instance me googling “breakfast street” haha…. Where the heck is breakfast street? Lol Thanks for your recommendations!
Thank you for making this video. I am travelling to Turkey for the first time in few months time and your video is so informative and I feel less nervous about my trip now 😊
Here's an irony - you went missing when I broke my last phone...... I got a new one, and in remembering some of my favorite channels I reloaded Waypoint today to see that you are also just returning.
We just discovered and are really enjoying your Istanbul videos. We'll be starting on the back-catalog soon! (We're long time Kara and Nate fans!) Do you have a recommended Whirling Dervishes experience?
Hi there! There are many different options that range from touristy to authentic. If you are looking for a more authentic experience.. we can recommend this one personally :) www.lesartsturcs.com/product/whirling-dervish-ceremony-real-monastery-in-fatih/ The only potential issue is that it is only on Thursdays. Hopefully that works out with your trip!
Hi Jess and Myles, I watched this video as well as your video about where to stay in Istanbul and I found them both very great and informative. However, I do have some questions if that's ok? first off have you both been to Cappadocia before? My husband and I are planning a trip in September to visit Turkey for 6 nights before flying to Greece. The two locations we wanted to visit were Istanbul and Cappadocia. However, we're torn between how many nights we should spend in each place. We were initially planning on doing 4 nights in Cappadocia and 2 nights in Istanbul. However after watching these videos on Istanbul, it has turned out heads. We would be arriving around 9pm in Cappadocia. So even though we'd be there for 4 nights, we'd only really have 3 days to spend in Cappadocia. From there we would fly to Istanbul and I found a flight (but not booked) that would arrive at 9am in Istanbul and it's only 1.5hrs long. So we'd have 1 full day and about 3/4 of a day in Istanbul. So we're wondering where you'd recommend spending more time? Our plans are flexible so we could change them, but we wanted to know your thoughts? 💬
So glad you found us and super excited for your upcoming trip to Turkey! I am happy to try and give you our opinion here! We have been to Capadocia and It is amazing and well worth 3 days. But as I am sure you can imagine we LOVE Istanbul and so it is hard to imagine you only having 1 full day to try and get a feel for this city! A couple of things first… Based on the flight time you have found out of Capadocia to Istanbul (arriving in Istanbul @9am) it seems you may miss sunrise that last morning which would be sad 😞. Personally, if you can find an afternoon flight (4pm or so) out of Capadocia the day before, that would still give you 3 full mornings in Capadocia. Then you would arrive later in the evening in Istanbul and that would give you 2 full days in Istanbul to explore (and maybe even a nice dinner in Istanbul when you arrive… the food in Istanbul is WAY better than Cappadocia😄). This way you don’t lose a morning in Capadocia which are by far the most magical and you gain a full day in Istanbul. The airports in Istanbul are about an hour from the city so with the flight you found, you would most likely miss sunrise in Capadocia to make that flight, land in Istanbul at 9am, get to your hotel at 10:30 or 11am, drop your bags and have maybe a half day at best. (whether you choose to spend 3 nights or 4 nights in Cappadocia, do NOT take a flight that will cause you to miss out on sunrise in Cappadocia!) Also, as a side note, we are nearly done with our full Turkey guide (which will include Cappadocia) so be on the lookout for that!😄 we really hope this helps and we hope you have a great trip!!!
@@WaypointofView Wow thank you so much for your quick and thorough response! I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place lol 🤦🏻♀️😅 that's the best of both worlds! I just looked and found one flight at 6:50pm and another at 9pm the evening before! 🥳 I will definitely look for your Turkey travel guide, you and your spouse have been so helpful! Thank you so much!
Honestly we do not have experience staying in this neighborhood. It also seems to be very far from the city center… we are not sure we would recommend it if you are only here for a few days.
😃 no worries! Here is the name of one of the restaurants that we have eaten at on breakfast street! Çakmak Kahvaltı Salonu. Also if you translate “breakfast street” into Turkish and search for that you will see there are maybe 30 different restaurants that show up all around that same location! Hope you have an amazing time!
