      After losing Bastila on Leviathan and Carth’s demeaning justification against the Revan it only fuels to necessity of turning Dark Side also the actual final nail to coffin is facing Bastila on that Rakata Temple. Seeing her as Servant of Dark Side was a final straw for turning Revan to DS. In LS play through Korriban serves as direct opposite of DS play through. I mean if you play as LS Revan Korriban’s role is to serve as a wake up call for horror that only Sith can do.

    • @fanta4897
      @fanta4897 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      It's not hypocritical. To be stronger doesn't mean to have better strength, or better reflexes. It means to be more capable of achieving victory. The ability to make allies or find a new way to achieve what you want is nothing more but another way in which you can be seen as stronger. Their entire life is struggle, and so they are always prepared to fight and should always anticipate every kind of hostility from everyone (including the unfair ones, especially if they themselves are willing to be unfair). That means that if they die because of ''unfair'' fight, it wasn't because the enemy was unfair, it means they lost because they weren't as... capable as him. Yes, capable is probably the best word for this.

    • @TheAwesomoe
      @TheAwesomoe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@fanta4897 Sorry for the late reply, I wholeheartedly disagree with your assesment. It matches that of the people in the KotoR-era, but it's fundementally flawed. So the point is to see who is the greatest individual in a "nietzsche-sense", and you've converted into it "who would be the best at serving in a group, who would be the best at gathering allies, who would be the best at falling in line". I'm not saying that these are your words, but this is the rationale of the argument. I'm sure there's a word for this in philosophy, but basically there's a reason why "absolute in its relativity" is not a paradox. You're supposed to discern yourself that it's a functioning statement and not a paradox.
      Now, just because it's not a paradox, it doesn't mean it changes it's meaning. If the sith only acted in absolutes, and some jedi wanted to join by the reasoning that he was absolute in his relativistic stance, that wouldn't work.
      Bane realized that the infighting, as seen in the video, allowed weaker sith to rise to the top. That is what he wanted to change, as all these underhanded tactics didn't make the sith stronger. Bane was wrong on a lot of things, but this was not one of them. These "unfair circumstances" was sith using tactics that were antithetical to the purpose of the sith code and purpose. If you have a powerful sith lord ruling at the top, as was intended, and then you have 1000 sith acolytes gathering up to take the throne from you, will their cooperation somehow prove that the strong reign supreme? No, the sith order then just lost their greatest single asset. The sith are about individual strength, not the "individual strength" of banding up or weakening your opponent.
      Now, the sith after Bane were also encouraged to manipulate and so on, but always to further the strength of the sith. Not all adversity is good adversity, and even the sith realized this. If your entire body becomes burned to a husk, you won't become stronger by it just because it introduces more pain and conflict into your life. Darth Vader's ultimate power was but a fraction of what it would've been if he had not been injured, even though his hate became stronger because of it. "Healthy conflict" I suppose is what I would call it. So you can make the jedi code and purpose fit a lot of arguments, for example seen in the dark brotherhood, but you are supposed to realize what the ultimate purpose is on your own in order to achieve their "moral victory" as well as ultimate victory. The sith wanted their code to win, but also to destroy the jedi. How do you achieve the strength to win while maintaining the essential aspects of competitiveness?

    • @TheAwesomoe
      @TheAwesomoe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually, as I just completed this, I continued on my readthrough of Darth Bane - Dynasty of Evil. Bane's body was deteriorating due to the obelisks and extended use of the dark side, as well as his injuries. He was wondering why Zannah had not yet challenged him to the duel, and he mentions the possibility that she is just waiting for time to pass, as she can then claim the throne of the sith without risk. However, he makes the correct assesment that this would make her unworthy of being his heir. Now you can make a perfectly good argument as to why Zannah should wait, and defeat Bane when he's at his weakest, but you've gotta remember the ultimate purpose of the sith. All that talk about conflict is to further the individual, not the group.

    • @fanta4897
      @fanta4897 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAwesomoe I haven't taken into consideration the presence of another faction like Jedi. All I did was explain how the sith infighting is not a sign of hypocrisy in the sith thinking (although it might be a legit mistake in sith thinking, as you correctly assessed, there is a great dillema of maintaining competitivness while aiming to win over someone else, and the sith thinking is much more aimed at themselves rather than dealing with outside threat). I don't think that you can argue that sith who is able to cooperate, and chooses to cooperate against stronger fiend is not stronger. Yes, Bane assessed that as a group, the sith are weakening themselves with their infighting, and if that would be what would really happen, I would agree with your comment. However the stories we're discussing are fictional and hence cannot be taken as proof of someone being wrong or right. I'm debating about the thinking proccess and not about it's flaws, apperantly shown by fictional story. The competitivness between the sith should, and if the story was happening realistically then even would, make sith faction stronger (there is nothing more powerful than ability to correctly asses the situation and act accordingly to overcome it, any sith who would not be dumb would come to conclusion that killing some great tactician, or warrior who is in the way of his promotion has to be thought over, pros: promotion, cons: risk of death from not only him, but also from a possible weakening of sith faction).

    • @TheAwesomoe
      @TheAwesomoe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@fanta4897 I guess you could say it's not an oxymoron, but it's hypocritical when you compare it to the espousal of individual strength. The sith mentality isn't merely a bureaucracy where promotion is all that matters. Now, the force is too strong, and all sith fall to the trap of endlessly chasing and coveting power, but it's antithetical to the code to care about some social hierarchy, in contrast to the potential gain of keeping the sith master alive.

      You must become her friend trough dialogue b4 you go into the final tomb in Korriban. Kill Uthar first and then you can convince her to return to the light side. Also if u do this b4 the Leaviathan and go back to the jedi temple you can see her in the dorm rooms in the back of the temple and talk to her.

    • @zhengwenyu1587
      @zhengwenyu1587 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Apparently, you must inform Uthar about his apprentice plot to kill him, and follow his plan. However, it's best you do this early and not do other things that gain Uthar's endorsement to proceed the storyline, otherwise, you won't be able to carry out the plan or help his apprentice instead.
      Also, to tell him you are Revan, you must visit the Leviathan first, by completing other maps first, leaving Korriban last.

      No, on my first playthrough ever I done Korriban first, and did the same string (tell Uthar she tried to poison him, do his side quest, side with him at the tomb), and he still approved of the MC and the Academy didn't turn on him. I later came back to Korriban after learning MC is Revan, and Uthar acknowledged that.

    • @ZoomReverseFlash
      @ZoomReverseFlash 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @randomguy0914
    @randomguy0914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I never realised you could side with him, whenever I tried he always turned on me in the end and I had to kill both.
    I was always able to side with the girl though.
    I've done kotor probably between 30 and 50 times with maybe only 5 female playthroughs.
    So only now do I realise it probably depends on the gender of revan

    • @PointReflex
      @PointReflex 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It has nothing to do with gender, thesyntax to get thos outcome is:
      1 Either enter Korriban after the events on the Leviathan, or, enter Korriban at any point (for example, to solve Carth's quest with Dustil) leaving your expedition to Nagga's tomb after the escape from the Leviathan.
      2 Accept Yuthuras' offer to kill her master and tell him about her plan.
      3 It is optional, but you could befriend Yuthura before the final encounter, this triggers a special dialog of her f3lling sentimentaly betrayed by you.
      And... I think thats all. I'm about to replay the game for the first time in years so my memory could be wrong about something this, but overall, gender has nothing to do with the ultimate outcome on any quest in Korriban.

      I think YOU have to know you’re revan first. This is why many people recommend doing this planet last. I’m only really just learning about this dialog option now though, so I didn’t quite get why before. I’m doing a play-through right now and I may have screwed up cause I went to Korriban first. I’m hoping that if I come back later the game will acknowledge that I’ve learned my identity. I assume it will because this is one of the few rpg games that keeps such meticulous track of not just the choices you make, but the order in which you make them.
