Carth is an actual jerk. I worked with a guy who Carth reminds me of a lot. Very edgy and snide, found out a year into my job it was rooted in my co-worker's father having been extremely critical and unloving to him. We both played Kotor before and I joked this was like something out of a Carth dialogue.
I wish there were more of these. It would be nice if Juhani and HK-47 talked with other party members. Juhani could at least talk with Bastila and Jolee.
@@BenjaminMankowski Well at least if you get Juhani to interject two (of the three possible) times when Candeorus talks during Dantooine and talk to her up to the point of the part of her story where she says the Mandalorians destroyed her home world you can ask her why she doesn't seem to like Canderous, but I do agree it's a perfect example of a missed opportunity for party banter.
I still think Juhani and Canderous should've had one considering the Mandolorians were the cause for everything she went through and what set her on the path to become a Jedi.
I do really enjoy how Carth and Bastila's second conversation was basically just what you'd hear in KOTOR 2. But in some ways I think it's almost better here, Bastila is so stubborn, so SURE that the council was right. But she also very clearly has no clue what she's talking about, she doesn't understand the war and even her argument that the council saw "a threat" is vague. In 2 the Jedi were basically gone, that kind of blind adherence was just stupidity by that point, here it's almost understandable why she would think like that.
I think a lot of Kotor is actually saying the same kind of messages Kotor 2 is, but less in your face exploration of the topic you know? More in a way for you to come to as your own conclusion I guess.
@@deaj8450 while a fair point, I think the bigger difference is context. In 1 you know a lot less about the Mandalorian War and the Jedi of the era. Carthage saying he wad a soldier and Atton talking about millions dying every day paint rather different pictures. Gives the Jedi a lot more benefit of the doubt
@@nahte123456 Sure, Kotor 2 was more more focused on the topic so it got more coverage in the game. I actually kind of like the way the first game handles it better, I just wish there was more of it. Sort of a game focused on these topics like Kotor 2 but done in a more subtle way like the first. I'd love a newer star wars rpg with the ability to truly have more grey type decisions but I'm skeptical of any game being done well anymore. My main weakness with the first Kotor is specifically that many dark side actions, especially early on, are just over the top evil, but I suppose that was often the point. Also certain side quests in that game really irk me, like the murder investigation on Dantooine. I'm bias though, I tend to like the first game more.
Still can’t get over how much of the kotor fandom is invested in Bastilla and Carth: they are both so irritating in their stubbornness and supposed superiority that as soon as I got new party members other than them they were quickly replaced.

To be fair, Juhani and HK-47 are optional party members and KOTOR was kind of...rushed. (in the FF7 sense where it still turned out really good).
Juhani and Canderous could've had some explosive dialogue, given how her people suffered in the Mandalorian Wars.

Canderous almost managed to rebuff Carth but that line "I achieve justification through victory in battle" was too dumb in this context xD
Now this is why we love KOTOR: the immersion and details, not this dlc purchasing hahahaha.

Bastilla's stubbornness makes it really fun to flirt with her and makes you care about her. Carth's romance on the other hand, is kinda boring
