I agree: PD is an absolutely awsome company!!! I bought their lens kit w/ capture clip here in Germany from a local vendor. On an outdoor hike I lost one of the caps and I couldn't get a spare one in Germany (German vendor: they sell only the complete system...). After having asked PD via email for an other German source I didn't get an answer. BUT some days later I got an envelope from California containing TWO new caps FOR FREE - speechless!
As a fellow cyclist and photographer, I really like the usability of this bag! My son has one version of the backpack and I can only say that the quality and versatility is amazing and well worth the investment. Cheers!
Fanny packs are coming back in a big way! I was looking at the Every Day Slick 5L, but went with the Timbuk2 Mission Sling. Happy with my purchase, but I would like to add the EDS5L to my collection down the line. Great review, as always.
Great review my new friend! Like# 500! I subscribed to your channel since I love to see how other people use camera bags and equipment. I love Peak Design and have most of their equipment including the 3l sling, 6l sling and 10l sling. I use them all for different reasons. I also have the 20L backpack to take all my camera gear when traveling, hiking, etc. I love to use the capture clip and have one for each of my bags. I use the leash with my smaller Canon SL3 and the slide lite for my T7i. I am not a professional photographer by any means but I use this gear to get inspiration for my art business as you could probably tell by my thumbnail icon. Thank you for sharing. It was very informative and interesting. Have a great day my friend! 😀👏👍
After purchasing this bag, I was happy to find that it had just enough vertical space to fit two samyang tiny series lenses (45mm and 18mm) standing upright on top of eachother with the divider inbetween. Is yours still getting use?
Hi Dustin, I just picked up the new 6 L version of the sling and I would say it is much improved. Have you found the Capture Clip useful on this bag? I just bought one of those as well and have installed it on my Lowepro Fastpack but am wondering if it would be more useful on the sling. I have the a7iii and would be using one of the Tamron zooms, for instance. I am worried that it would drag the bag down with the camera load hanging off the side. Thanks for your great review, as always!
It really is a better bag now , a little roomier and much more comfortable to wear. I did try using the Capture Clip with it but found it dragged the bag down and looked awkward. The clip will remain on my backpack.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I often find that when I travel the big bag I've packed everything in is great for the initial travel, but too large to carry around once I've arrived and want to carry less gear.
Thank you for this review. The bag is super ! I am going to order it along with that camera clip when I am back from my 4-day holidays. I wish I had watched it before so I could have it for this break.
You might be able to squeeze the nifty fifty in somewhere, but not comfortably, because you'll probably need to lay the DSLR combo in sideways. You can fit the EOS R + RF 24-105 lens down in there and then add a lens or two, but it's all a bit smaller.
Hey Dustin, loved the review, and I do have some questions about that everyday backpack. Just two very important ones. Are the side flaps easily opened? The zippers are very large and could be accessible by thieves, and there goes your valuable gear. I know for a fact it's designed to be easy accessed, but with that design comes easy pick-pocketing. Is this bag vulnerable? The second one is, is that damn thing worth so much? The larger or the small, either one costs quite some cash. Is the whole bag really worth it? Except more easy access to my gear, it doesn't appeal that much to me. I'm currently using a Lowepro flipside 400 AWii, which is a nice bag, but gear isn't all that accessible. I do carry around a 6D2 with three lens, so a backpack must have certain space for me to put in other stuff, such as water or some accessories, better some more shit. Is that Everyday backpack a reasonable choice?
Peak Design products are a premium price, but they are not only premium products but the customer service you get is pretty amazing. The design of those two zippers is that there is actually a security feature built in where the two zippers can be latched together and not easily opened. I meant to demonstrate that in the video but forgot.
Hi Dustin.. If i place inside an a7r3 with a GM16-35 attach to it. Will it be fit like DSLR that goes side ways & snug fit. Or can I still put it like you put yours & still be carrying a laowa lens?
I haven't tested that combination, but it might fit standing up. It looks like the 16-35 is just a little bit longer than the Tamron 28-75mm. No guarantees.
Great review and Peak makes some great products. I don't own any of them yet but that will probably change in the near future. I'm currently using the Think Tank Speed series and they are similar in that they can be slings or fanny pack esque. I love it when I need to grab the body and a lens or two and run so I don't have to bring my big backpack everywhere. I want to look into the Peak strap and clips and the other clip you have with arca swiss plates.
I love the Arca design (why isn't everything Arca compatible???), and the way that all their products are designed to work together as part of a system.
Hi Dustin One thing you didn't mention (and maybe don't know about the sling 5L bag) is that the zips can prevent someone unzipping the bag when work at the back of your body If you look at the zip of the main compartment, it can be looped round the front zip at the top and linked back to its own "hook" if you know what I mean Excellent video otherwise 😃
@@DustinAbbottTWI ok was curious if it is comparable to a small satchel or "man purse" if you will 😁. Also wondered how it does against the body in hot temperature. The everyday backpack makes the back all sweaty.
I don't think it has the same impact because it is such a smaller surface area. I wear it as a sling bag on my chest sometimes, if that was what you were originally asking.
It's a fantastic bag, even as a daily sling. The reason why I do not recommend this bag is that I do not want everyone uses it as a sling. It happened to some other bags like Gregory or Head Porter that literally I can see 30% population in my region using the same brand. I hate it when brand becomes too popular. That is the reason why I will never buy the 20L... it's way too popular for my taste
it is from a fashion point of view, i think 5L dome design is very post modern unlike any other traditional slings bags can be so overhyped that many people go for the same one and losing my interest to actually wear one. as a tool i think its just perfect
It definitely would sideways. I don't have that combination, so I can't verify if it would fit straight up and down. Even the 24-70 G2 and a7R3 fits in there sideways.
I think if I were doing it over again, I'd go 10L. That extra bit of space makes a difference as I rarely shoot my a6500 and lenses as an actual "going out" kit.
Hi Mr. Abbott, I saw you have a Voigtlander lens on your A7 camera. Can you please review Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical Lens for Sony E-Mount? Thank you!
As mentioned before, Canon has had a very slow season for new releases. I do have the 70-200mm f/4L IS II on route to me right now, but there hasn't been much between the 85L IS (which I reviewed late last fall) and now.
Informative review as always Dustin thanks for posting. Fanny pack or bum bag sounds bad either way doesn't it. Looks a well made product. Only problem is wearing a bum bag screams tourist when on a Barcelona street. You might as well go 100% and wear checked shorts and a baseball cap too. Then you definitely will be a target for a thief.
LOL. True enough. I just carried mine a fair bit this week while traveling, but I carry it sling style most often unless I need more freedom of movement.
That is true in an absolute sense, but sometimes the very fact that people have spent so much on other gear (camera and lenses) makes them reluctant to lay out good money for bags.
@@DustinAbbottTWI Can you explain this more? When I saw the cuff helping dismantle the strap, it is almost a deal breaker. A thief can just click it and all your gear is gone. Don't get me wrong it is a really good design cam bag for convenience, but convenience also making it very vulnerable.
Hmm.. yeah, Neither I don't know about that fanny pack's sexiness but I am sure your charming Canadian-ness is sexy. Nice review! I'm buying myself one :D

It should with a medium sized lenses and facing sideways in there.

I like the lens swap technique
It works well

Random question: will the EDS5L fit inside the EDBP20L
Yes, though you essentially only have the top pouch available for further storage.

I actually fully intended to mention that (and even covered it in the hands-on section), but it got inadvertently cut.
Dustin Abbott ahh ok
Would this sling 5L fit my Nikon D7100 with nikkor 18-200 and Sigma 18-35 lens (all standing uoright) ?
I'm not familiar enough with the Nikon components to answer that. You would have to look at the dimensions and do the calculation.
Can this be worn as a chest pack? Would that be comfortable?
I've not tried that.

Hi Mr. Abbott, I saw you have a Voigtlander lens on your A7 camera. Can you please review Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical Lens for Sony E-Mount? Thank you!
The Voigtlander I'm working on right now is the 65mm f/2 Macro - an amazing lens. I will look at the 1.2/40 at some point, though.
Would this fit a Nikon 7500 with a Tamron 18-400 lens?
While I haven't tried that specific combination, working off my knowledge of them I would say it definitely would.

I haven't.

You're welcome.
Will you be reviewing the voigtlander 65 dustin?

Nice but vulnerable for thiefs, having your cam behind you. Think i stay with my Lowepro slingback.
You can always wear it in the front as a sling or front bag. It also has the ability to lock down the zipper to make it harder for thieves to access.
