I have a small Domke shoulder bag and a medium Domke shoulder bag that both bother my shoulder. I went to a small Lowepro back pack that is better for the shoulder but not very convenient. I wonder how much better for the shoulder this Peak Design sling would be...?? But my favourite of the 3 is the small Domke...
3 years ago I bought the Lowepro Event Messenger 150, which is a very basic messenger bag, but for 45$, it is great! Fits my XT-2 with 2 lenses and accesories, and it looks nice. The bad thing is that sometimes it hurts my shoulders, especially after more than 3 hours shooting.
I never had a domke but I heard good things about them. I wouldn't say the 5L sling from Peak Design is equally comfortable for the shoulders as a backbag but it is the most comfortable sling or shoulder bag I have ever tried. If I bring out my camera the only thing left in the bag is batteries and SD cards. Then the bag feels like air!
This bag is insane.. It fits my xpro2 with 16mmf1.4 on +23mmf2+35mmf2+50mmf2,, + extra batteries, small(really small but useable) tripod, some wipes, small note. This bag is minimal,, but if u fully load this bag u can make no empty space inside and really boost in all ur stuffs inside too..! definitely my favorite... Had a grey one, sold it, missed it, got a new black one. LOVE IT
Hey Charlie, I've got all those lenses with either X-T2 or X-T20 I didn't realise it could fit all those, that's impressive. I've got the 10L but think I'll offload it for the 5l as the strap is too uncomfortable for the excess weight of the bigger gear load and its just a bit big for the Fuji system. Did you prefer the grey or black as they are are different material I think ? Thanks.
@@robinlennon4752 Hey man thats a great idea! would definitely prefer it that way! 5l Both have great looks tho they have each pros and cons! The grey one has a catchy design, the handle on top is leather... I liked the leather but the finish wasnt the best. Black is stealth (literally all black) and the handle material is abit different (feels more solid, stronger in rain). But some tiny bits of dust appears easily since it's too black. so if ur in dusty situations, would go for silver. If not black is so nice fits most of styles too. Black fits everywhere.
I'm surprised too. Would be interested how you fit all this gear in. I'm using the Xpro2 too but according the video with the x100 I thought it is to small for the Xpro2 set up. I am using a True e fashion bag that I have found in Tokyo.
I have read some reviews that the black feels more durable than the ash, do you feel the same? I like the ash a lot more but I don't want to skimp on durability. Thanks!
Just ordered a PD Sling 5L, thanks for this detailed review. LOVE the stop-motion intro! Also really like your idea of carrying business cards & a photo book to help interactions with strangers. Awesome stuff!
Loved the intro, was cute as hell. and a well thought out review. Onto the bag, I've got the grey one for about 8 months now. It's amazing. Even on big multi-week trips to Asia, i carry this bag in my luggage to use on-site and it never dissapoints. I usually put my D810 in there with a single prime attached, and have plenty of space for a small tablet or notebook, water-bottle or spare lens, and other misc things. I could stuff in more lenses if i forfeit the water bottle. Hell if I go for a shoot with a model, I clip a Bouse Soundlink mini to the side which fits PERFECTLY (which is also waterproof) I do agree with your friend that the "quick-adjust" is very annoying to use cause of the friction. You get used to it but it still not as advertised. Just to correct you, the front-pocket does NOT have weather-sealed zippers like the main compartment. It relies on rain trying to glide over that front pocket to stay dry, which it generally does but a few times i've really put it to the test doing street for hours in heavy Tokyo rain, using a small umbrella never covers my bag so it does get a bit damp/slightly wet inside. Don't carry essentials in that pocket that can damage with extended periods of rain. Normal rain for a 30 mins ? no problem. Consider investing in the Capture clip, to be able to attach your camera on the side for even quicker access (and/or freeing some space inside) - but imo works best if you can easily remove your camera strap (like say with the straps PD sells) otherwise that annoyingly dangles on the side :-)
Great video. Thank you for you labour. I really enjoyed the starting hyperlapse and the idea with the album. I really believe that nowadays we are missing this special joy of actual contact with actual photos. Good luck for you! Keep going.) I have been using this bag every day for 1 year already. Totally agree with you. It is very functional, convenient, top quality and minimalistic appearance product. In addition I want to emphasize waterproof qualities of the material and zippers. I was hiking in Caucasian mountains for 9 days and really pouring rains wasn't able to wet the entrails. The only disadvantage of this bag for me is that the strap is too slippery, so quick adjustment always loosening at the end of the day. And even more. Once one of the end of the strap just slipped out from the metal mount. I was lucky to catch the bag with my X100f, smartphone etc. inside from crushing into concrete. Probably there wouldn't be some serious damages, but for sure this issue must be solved by PD. Also I believe that the shoulder pad on the strap should be slidable.
I use the PD Everyday Sling 3L and find it works well for walking around. I often carry a Fuji X-E4, with a prime lens attached and a couple more of the so-called Fujicron primes in the single FlexFold divider. No room for a tablet or even my iPhone, but batteries, memory cards, etc. all fit in the handful small pockets on the front and inside. We're planning a family trip to Italy in the fall and I'm looking to make that all the camera gear I carry with me.
I love the little sample book idea, and your reasons behind it, you have inspired me to do one, lol great review as I am getting one of these in the next couple of weeks! Thank you!
I just bought one of these bags and so far I really like it. Haven't been out with it yet but it's about the right size. I only take one camera with me, along with a light meter and white balance cards. Very minimal. I noticed you have a Retrospective 5. I just today took my stuff out of that same bag today and put it into the Peak. Thanks for the video.
Hey! Awesome intro and great review. As a bag reviewer I always like to watch other people's bags. I haven't been able to test a Peak Design my self yet, but they are on my wishlist. Oh and just as of writing this comment I realized that you are in Hamburg as well. MOIN! Keep up the good work! Cheers, Bo
Ahhh I remember you! I don't know when but I did stumble upon your videos some day and was suprised to see you are from hamburg. so MOIN :) Great work on your channel by the way.
@@SamuelStreetlife Thanks, mate. You probably stumbled upon my channel in search for a peak design review. Shame on me for not having tested one yet haha
ich liebe dieses video intro !! Appreciate your thorough and honest inputs. A bit unrelated, but where/ how did you make your little photobook. That's a brilliant idea
One idea that might help to make adjusting the straps on the bag easier and that to rub a little bit of bar soap on the edges of the strap. Rub a little water on an edge of the bar soap till it becomes like a paste and then apply a very small amount on the straps, this trick works well for zippers and it might work for straps.
Have to say it’s one of my favourite bags. I have the 10L one too but that’s getting a bit big. It’s amazing what you can get into the 5L bag, my usual load is a Canon EOS R with grip and a detached RF 24-105L lens.
Nice video! I carry my a7iii in a regular waist bag from h&m where I have camera, cables, spare battery and power bank. Now I carry less stuff and take more photos 😂
Samuel L. Streetlife absolutely. :) 10 years ago I had 1 camera and 1 lens, and was dreaming about better gear, now I have 20 cameras and lenses, but I use 1 most of the time. Lol
Great video! I already have the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L and I'm thinking of getting this one for smaller setups and concert photography. Looks like this one's worth buying. Thank you for your view on this one :)
I’ve been using the 10L sling for a few months now and I love it. Sometimes I wish I had gone with the 5L version but the extra space came in handy on a recent trip to Europe. Maybe I’ll get the 5L eventually anyway hahaha. Anyway, I’d love some more info on your photo book. Like how you made it or had it made etc. I’d love to make one with my own photos at some point but have no idea where to begin. Great video as always!
Thanks Rene. It's so hard to choose between the 10L or 5L haha. If I haven't had the Think Tank bag I would probably gone for the 10L sling. Yeah I might to a seperate video about the process of making a photobook someday. It is really simpel stuff. I used the german digital printing service www.saal-digital.de and it was super easy.
Sameul, the photobook idea is a great way to convey specially when overseas as it may be difficult to communicate. I wish I can get one- How did you get only one copy printed?
The bag I keep coming back to is the Lowe Pro Terraclime 100, I got it almost 10 years ago, it is basic small and lite (I do wish it was a tiny bit bigger). Every time I go out of the country I take 3 camera bags 1 to transport my gear (it never leaves the hotel room once I arrive) the Terracilme and usually a Domke F6, I always end up settling on the Terracilme.
.......WOW.... so I’ve had this bag for about 6 months now and just now learned by watching this video the extra slack from the straps can be hidden 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I never noticed those slots.
Nice review Samuel. I've got a lot of bags but for me secondhand gives me the ability to try different ones and not lose out selling if they don't quite work for my various setup's. I'm slowly but surely narrowing my stock down to the perfect ones for me. Think Tank for backpacks, the Urban Approach 15 and Trifecta 8 are superb for Fuji. Shoulder bags it's Billingham, S3 for street, F1.4 and Hadley Pro, like the weight, comfort, waterproof and padding. Got the PD 10L but it just isn't comfortable when full and just too big for Fuji so will likely trade it for the 5l as you highlight the comfort and another responder has mentioned it holds the small fuji lenses. Thanks.
I love your music selections! I wanted to ask, is the strap comfortable long term? A lot of people seem to say PD's straps are uncomfortable and I don't know what to believe.
The thing is with the 5L bag you won't really have a heavy bag to begin with. So even if you pack it to the max it will not really be uncomfortable to wear the bag long term. It is the same material and feel of a seatbelt. So imagine wearing a seatbelt the hole time. And for that it is a comfy seatbelt. So in my experience it is very comfortable wearing the 5L Sling even on long day trips.
Coincidentally, I purchase the bag last week. If I had of seen your video before I made the purchase and after that intro, I would have bought it twice.
Hi Samuel, Fitst of all a big compliment for your enthusiastic and ‘fresh’ video. I really liked the start a lot. Your information on the bag is to the point and I also plan to get one myself. I have a Panny G-85 with batterygrip and 3 to 4 lenses I mainly use. I hesitate between the 5 L and the 10 L, where I think the 10 L will be a fraction too big. What’s your opinion on this? Thanks in advance.
I feel it will be a bit too much for the 5L. It's probably better to get the 10L if you want to bring all lenses. The 5L is great if you have a very minimal setup.
I do have this bag, I love it. A little small for my bigger Lumix G9 and a couple of lenses. However it is perfect Lumix G9 with one extra lens, and my GRIII and some smaller stuff.
really good review , i have the gitzo century traveller messenger bag only used it a couple of times so far. But if i had seen this review before i got my messenger bag i would definitely have bought this instead.
Habe ihn in 20L.
I'm a huge fan of Billingham bags, which I've used consistently since the 80s. They're as tough as fuck, waterproof and pretty sexy. Currently using the Hadley Pro when carrying my MacBook (for writing/photography trips), and the Hadley Small when it's just a photography day. Great channel, Samuel. Love your content. Thank you. x
@@SamuelStreetlife no it's awesome, I was staring at it the whole time until you zoomed on it and then I was like "ok now that we've all acknowledged it's there we can move on"
6 liter alpaka sling pro v2 what I got, amazing sling in general, sony 6400 with 55-210mm lens mountedand my cleaning kit a bit of a tight fit though. besides that, amazing sling.
Thank you Samuel! I watched your cool video again as I want to buy a small bag and this one is cool but I'm not sure my Samsung Tab S3 (almost the same size as an iPod air) and its keyboard cover would fit in. What do you think?
I have a Samsung Tab A 10 Inch and that fits in my peak design bag very tightly, but it works. It's 25cm wide. I just googled and your Tab S3 is shorter so it should fit! But your tablet is almost 17cm high which will fit but maybe it will be a bit hard to close the bag. I think you should find a camera store that has the bag and try it to be 100% sure. Hopefully this helps!
@@SamuelStreetlife thank you Samuel, I appreciate it! It did help, I followed your advice and ended up buying the new 6l version)) the 5l was OK as you said but I like the extra room. Take care and thanks again!
I have one. Love it. However there is one small issue i always face is the strap keep sliding off. And i have to readjust it often. Other than that, it's a very good bag.
I'm not a bit fan of the sling-bags. And I'm actually looking for a new one. The everyday from Peak Design might be a bit too heavy, but I'd rather have a backpack than a sling. Do you have any recommendation for a backpack?
If you carry lots of gear than a sling bag is not ideal. I really like the look of the new travel backpack from peak design. It's bloody expensive though. Don't know of any compact lightweight backpacks unfortunately. But maybe check out the guy Chase Reeves on TH-cam! He reviews tons of bags.
I have this bag since around 4 years. A bit heavy but can take a rain shower and is more toward the bulletproof side than thin light sport camera bag. www.chromeindustries.com/product/niko-f-stop-camera-backpack/BG-236.html?dwvar_BG-236_color=ALLB&dwvar_BG-236_size=NA&cgid=
@@SamuelStreetlife Cool I'll check him out. I actually don't carry much when I do my street walks. But I just don't like having a slingback. I feel it's annoying. I light-weight back-pack would be ideal. And weather resistant. But I'll check that guy out you link to. Thanks dude.
The Peak design everyday backpacks are pretty good, I have the 20ltr and it fits in a surprising amount of stuff but it's all still easily accessible. The bag is comfy and well made but quite pricey!
I love your videos Samuel.. but this one just cost me £98! 😅 Great review my friend and super editing.. smoother than a smooth thing that's just been polished! 👌
Haha thanks Tony. I also only paid like 90€ (because I bought it from someone who had it new but didnt want to keeo it haha). I still think 120€ is not overpriced for this bag.
Funny guy. When going 'out' with no professionel propose, I just take my Billingham Digital to carry one extra lense and all small stuff. I never carry the camera in it, cause I want to be ready for shooting and not first fiddling with getting the camera out of the bag. My daily prof bag is the Billingham Hadley Small Pro, which holds two bodies, two extra lenses and all small stuff.
That sounds like a great way to go! And you could also pack your bag fully and just keep your camera around your neck or in your hands. Then you get to bring even more stuff if needed. Cheers!
Hello again I remember the book you have, I usually make in blurb version too but vertical version and not really usefully, but yours is horizontal print view and awesome, could you please let me know where did you printed it? Thank you Samuel! HNY!
I genuinely might buy this, and I'm not a bag kind of person, but this makes functional sense. Maybe if they have like a 3L or 2L bag I'd be more willing to impulse buy, but really this seems to earn the name "Peak Design".
Very enjoyable and great idea about the photo book, I really enjoy PD and unfortunately have the Travel bag 40L and the 20L Day Pack and now the 5L sling....I know bag issues Lol 🤔😉👍🏽 and enjoy the all as they have their place in my line up travel/hike/street shoot
Sam you’re making me want another camera bag >_< I have like 5 of them already. But none by peak designs yet. I have all the straps by them though and love the quality. Maybe I will still buy this because my ONA bag is alittle heavier and my other bags aren’t as smart. Hate you bro!
What is your favourite camera bag? Let me know! :)
I have a small Domke shoulder bag and a medium Domke shoulder bag that both bother my shoulder. I went to a small Lowepro back pack that is better for the shoulder but not very convenient. Great video as always! My favourite bag is the Ona Bond Street, perfect for the X100f or Nikon F3 plus two lenses , the 24 and 50mm.
Thats a great price! I have a lowpro fastpack 250 DSLR backpack. It's ugly but it never let me down when I need to carry heavy equipment.

.......WOW.... so I’ve had this bag for about 6 months now and just now learned by watching this video the extra slack from the straps can be hidden 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I never noticed those slots.
I'm thinking about buying this. Do you think a Sony A7 iii with 24-70 lens would fit?
Best intro EVER
Thanks.
I think thats great to get bags secondhand! Good bags will last for a long time so it makes sense. :)
Dope review, content and content. subscribed.
Thank you Vin!
@@SamuelStreetlife Cheers for the response!
Coincidentally, I purchase the bag last week. If I had of seen your video before I made the purchase and after that intro, I would have bought it twice.
Haha :)
Hi Samuel,
Fitst of all a big compliment for your enthusiastic and ‘fresh’ video.
"Zack" 😄
Großartig!
Haha. Rutscht halt manchmal raus :D
I do have this bag, I love it. A little small for my bigger Lumix G9 and a couple of lenses. However it is perfect Lumix G9 with one extra lens, and my GRIII and some smaller stuff.
Great review, thanks for this!
You're welcome! :)
Love the Intro - Very english 60's style - music and timelapse help :)
Glad you liked it! :)
really good review , i have the gitzo century traveller messenger bag only used it a couple of times so far. But if i had seen this review before i got my messenger bag i would definitely have bought this instead.
Habe ihn in 20L.
Lowepro Terraclime 100 is my favorite bag. I am using it daily for my X100F and accessories. It's a modern looking and eco friendly (recycled plastic)
Cool! It looks very simple and light.
@@SamuelStreetlife It is, quite deceiving, by looking at it you can't guess that camera is inside - especially precious one like X100F
Thank you. x
I will get a Billingham when I get my Leica... :D Yes, they look classy as fuck. Would love to try one one day,
Men, your channel its amazing!! Love your content, thank you so much. Big Hug from brazil =)
Thanks you! Big hugs from germany! :)
When you zoom in on the smudge though XD LOL
I only realized it was there when I edited the video... I couldn't unsee it so I made everyone go through the same process :D
@@SamuelStreetlife no it's awesome, I was staring at it the whole time until you zoomed on it and then I was like "ok now that we've all acknowledged it's there we can move on"
@@java_bean ahhh, haha. That does work as well :D
nice intro and ending as well 👍
6 liter alpaka sling pro v2 what I got, amazing sling in general, sony 6400 with 55-210mm lens mountedand my cleaning kit a bit of a tight fit though. besides that, amazing sling.
Love the review
Think tank 5 liters is my bag of choice,, im also gonna buy the 10 liters as well...i need two bags... 🤓 //freddie
I was also thinking about the think tank 5L when i bought my retrospective 7. But I needed the extra space... You can't have enough bags haha
Superb intro man! 🥳🎉🌈👍
I have one.

The bag is comfy and well made but quite pricey!
i have this bag and i love it!
good review!
Thank you!
I love your videos Samuel.. but this one just cost me £98! 😅
Great review my friend and super editing.. smoother than a smooth thing that's just been polished! 👌
Haha thanks Tony. I also only paid like 90€ (because I bought it from someone who had it new but didnt want to keeo it haha). I still think 120€ is not overpriced for this bag.
@@SamuelStreetlife Agreed 😊👍
Cheers!
good stuff man :) where did you get the photobook from ? looks sick
I made it with Sall Digital.
Hello again I remember the book you have, I usually make in blurb version too but vertical version and not really usefully, but yours is horizontal print view and awesome, could you please let me know where did you printed it? Thank you Samuel! HNY!
I did it through a german online printing service called Saal Digital. There are a lot of similar printing service online that offer books like this.
I genuinely might buy this, and I'm not a bag kind of person, but this makes functional sense. Maybe if they have like a 3L or 2L bag I'd be more willing to impulse buy, but really this seems to earn the name "Peak Design".
Me neither. I use bag until they fall apart. This one feels like it will be around for a while.
nice one! but my favourite bag is the chrome niko sling
Thanks for the info Branston! Will check it out.
I came here looking for this comment! I love my niko
Samuel .. whats your everyday bag in 2020. now you switched cameras
The photobook looks cool, any chance to see which of your photos are in there?
I might do a seperate video one showing how to do one. It's really simple stuff. And put photos in it that are on my website.
Too many bag options right :D Thanks for the comment!
Which company did you use to create the sample book?
FREITAG F14 Dexter plus inlay ftw! more versatility and flexibility.
Did you upgrade to the 6L ?
That intro was so fucking awesome, but i have a question, can i put a DSLR in the 5L version?
Any chance you can tell me where you printed that book?
Holy intro bro
Hi Samuel, Would like to ask what is the accessory that you use to attach your action camera to the hotshoe of your fuji x100f. Thanks!
I don't know how to call it but if you type in "hot show mount adapter" then you will probably find it
...a very good review.... !!!
Sam you’re making me want another camera bag >_< I have like 5 of them already. But none by peak designs yet. I have all the straps by them though and love the quality. Maybe I will still buy this because my ONA bag is alittle heavier and my other bags aren’t as smart. Hate you bro!
Haha
Now they need to make it cut proof also water resistant to make it really travel friendly.
Hello, Can I fit the iPad 9.7 2018?
