My body started wasting after a rash of deaths and severe grief. Putting on weight is nearly impossible and I think I have malabsorption. Can grief cause actual wasting? Idk what’s going on. I’ve never been so skinny and I have to force feed myself eggs everyday on top of regular meals to maintain weight. It’s sickening.

Yes grief can cause appetite loss. It's not uncommon. But you need to see your physician.

When my mum died, I couldn't eat either. I also ended up drinking alcohol more but losing weight. I think a mix of low appetite and stress can definitely make weight fall off you. I hope you find a way forward through your grief soon and that you manage to gain some weight and feel more nourished soon. You got this.

Lot's of good stuff on your channel. I look forward to watching those after I finish my Medical Coding program. I'm actually finished with the classes and I am now doing my Practicum and going doing a CCS Review course to prepare for my national exams. I love learning and have loved the medical field ever since I was just a little girl. Unfortunately my body is not in a place where I could pursue nursing, so I am doing second best thing and doing medical coding. It's interesting, challenging, and we learn something new every day. I suspect just like anything in the medical field. I've had to do many courses that my medical professional friends are surprised of such as medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and so on, but I absolutely love it. In particular, I have found that Pharmacology and learning about the labs have probably been two of my favorites to date as well as disease process. Anyway, can't wait to view your video's. Thank you, they will be helpful to a lot of people not just those in med school, but nursing and I'm sure even those in my field of Medical Coding.

    • @dmdrummer23

Anorexia-cachexia is an irreversible process and increasing intake of foods will not reverse the process (with some exceptions - e.g. an acutely ill HIV patient). It is marked by > 5% weight loss over the past 5 months with continuous, involuntary loss of skeletal muscle and at least 3 of [decreased muscle strength, decreased muscle mass, fatigue, anoreixa, or abnormal labs)].

Hi doctor, my daughter who has crohn's has had this a few times. It's really scary but acute and with treatment for the crohn's she manages to get back to a healthy weight. I watched her lose 4 stone in two months (she had 2 years flare free ate for England and had a baby so fortunately by the time she lost the 4 stone it wasn't as dangerous as it could have been 🙏 thank the lord and the craving for Cadbury caramel during the pregnancy!) . Anyway even though she's 25 I have become hawk eyed every time I notice her disappearing again then one day when sat with her I noticed that we were suddenly the same size. It was odd since I knew she was in s flare and at the lower end of her weight. I thought it was probably she was starting to recover but I realised I had lost weight myself. I became alarmed since we weighed ourselves and I realised I had lost 2 and a half stone in around 7 months. I had had IBS for years so I figured it was probably that. Anyway to be on the safe side I checked with my doctor. She's ran loads of bowel and abdominal tests and everything is perfectly healthy. But the weight is still just falling off.😬 The only thing noticeable in blood work is pernicious anemia. Is that a cause or is this just a side effect? I have been b12 maxed up but still losing weight. I'm trying to get to 9 stone which looks ok but I'm so tired and I am eating like a horse. What could be going on here?
