Aisha was 19 years old. In Bukhari 476 we can see that when her father Abu Bakr accepted Islam in 610,Aisha attained the age of puberty. The marriage with the Prophet a.s happened in 624, 2 year after Migration(Hijrah) to Medina. This would make Aisha about 19-20 years of age when she consummated the Marriage with Prophet Muhammad a.s. Aisha r.a was 19 years old, when she consummated the marriage with Prophet Muhammad a.s! Islamic scholar Ibn Kathir (1301-1373) wrote in his book "Al-bidayya wal-nihaya": "Asma died in 73 A.H (After Hijrah) at the age of one hundred (100) years. She was ten (10) years older than her sister Aisha." This would make Asma 28 years of age in 1 A.H, thus making Aisha 18 years old in 1 A.H and 19 years old when she consummated the marriage with Muhammed a.s, because the consummation of marriage happened 2 years after Hijrah (Migration) to Medina

But something to think about is, NOBODY, not even the disbelievers who hated him, said anything about his marriage to Aisha. Why? Because it was the norm, as girls often matured faster than those of today, and often became married and mothers at “young”, ages, though they were well mature::: whereas today, girls are becoming pregnant with their boyfriends at ages as young as 12. Ibn Katheer also agrees with Ibn Abi al-Zinad’s narration and says that she is - Asma: Ten years older than her sister Aisha (The Beginning and the End, Ibn Katheer Maj. 8, p. 371, Dar Al-Fikr Al-Arabi - Giza 1933). Ibn Katheer agrees with what all historians affirm without disagreement that Asma "witnessed the killing of her son during that year (73 AH), as previously mentioned, and five days later she died. And like other accounts, she did not die after 5 days, but rather after 10 or 20 days, or a few days later, or even a hundred days after the accident, so that the most likely story remains that she died a hundred days later, when she is 100 years old. (Beginning and End Ibn Katheer, Mug 8, p. 372, Dar Al-Fikr Al-Arabi, Giza 1933). And bin Hajar Al-Asqalani narrates that “Asma bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq [That Al-Nitaqain], the wife of Al-Zubayr bin Al-Awam, one of the great companions, lived a hundred years and died in the year of seventy-three (Al-Tahdheeb, Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, p. 654, chapter on Women, Harf) a thousand). According to the opinion of most historians, Asma, Aisha's older sister were ten years older than the last, and if Asma 'reached the 100 years of Hijra, then her age at the time of the migration would necessarily be 27 years old, and therefore Aisha’s age at that time would be 17 years old, and she also began living Along with the Prophet and she was 19 or 20 years old. Based on the narrations of Ibn Hajar, Ibn Katheer and Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Al-Zinad, the age of Aisha at the time of her marriage to the Prophet was between 19 and 20 years at least. 🔴 6) The date of Aisha's death determines the date of her marriage: It is also mentioned in Al Maarif by Ibn Qutaybah that Aisha, the mother of the believers, died in 58 AH at the age of 77. Thus, the age of Aisha, the mother of the believers, immediately before the emigration, was 19 years (77-58), and since she married to the noble Messenger in the second year of the Hijra..so she was 21 years old at that time. Even if we take the minimum approach, the presence of other accounts in other historical sources that determine Aisha’s age at 66 years of age, assuming that her age was only 5 years + 12 years (from the fourth year before the mission until the second year of migration) = 17 years at least. 🔴 7) Sahih al-Bukhari prooves Aisha's age: This's another narration confirms for us Aisha's participation in the Battle of Uhud. “Anas narates that on Uhud: I saw Aisha bint Abi Bakr and Umm Salim, rolled their hands ready (Sleeves) - I witness the work of their arms - transport water containers on their bodies, empty them into the mouths of the people, then return and fill it, then come and empty it into the mouths of the people (Bukhari, Al-Fath. No. (2880). This is a clear evidence of their grown age. Her age and her ability to serve the army during the Battle of Uhud. (As it's well known fact the Messenger never allow young children to participate in battles). Thus, it is confirmed once again that Aisha witnessed the battles of Uhud and Badr. 🔴 8) Al-Bukhari narrates to us in another hadith: On the authority of Yahya bin Saeed, said that Nafeh said, on the authority of Ibn Omar, May Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he offered himself to the messenger on the day of Uhud when he was fourteen years old, and Messenger didn't allow him, and offered himself at the Ahzab, and he was allowed at the age of 15. (Kitab Al-Maghazi, Chapter of the Battle of Al-Khandaq, which is the Ahzab or Trench). This is a very strong evidence that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was not permitting to let someone under the age of fifteen in the Battles. 🌟This is evidence that the age of 9 years has no validity at all. 🔴 9) Participation in the battle of Badr: In Sahih Muslim, a narration confirms Aisha's participation in the battle of Badr and is attributed to Aisha in the course of her discussion of her trip to Badr and about an important accident that occurred while traveling: “... even if we were in the tree ....” Which is clear evidence that she was among the delegation Traveling towards Badr, and the Prophet does not take children with him. Chapter: In defense of Imam Al-Bukhaari (رحمه الله), and Abu Bakr As-Saddeeq (رضي الله عنه) Laws of England by Sir William Blackstone, says that the law of England allowed, at the age of 7, a girl can be betrothed and married with the consent of her parents. This was a book that was written about the jurisprudence of English people in the 19th century. The cultural aspects of marriages between cultures have similar aspects in maintaining modesty and chastity before the 19th century. Aisha (رضي الله عنها) was betrothed (engaged) to the Messenger of Allaah (اللهم صل على محمد وأزواجه) at the age of 6. The Messenger consummated the marriage WITHOUT having sexual intercourse at the age of 9, by bring her to his living quarters. She didn't see his (صلى الله عليه وسلم) private parts UNTIL a day after Ghazwa At-Tabuk, which means she was about 14 years of age or older. I believe this is a hadith in the Sahih Sitta which I read more than twenty years ago (possibly this hadith is in the Sunan of Abi Daud or Jami' At-Tirmidhee).

@Pourya Al-Tabari says she was nine at the time her marriage was consummated. Sahih al-Bukhari's hadith says "that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old." Various ahadith states that Aisha was either nine or ten at the time of her consummation come from collections with sahih status, meaning they are regarded as reputable by most Sunni Muslims.

A) Many reproductive women of age who weren’t “sexually abused” as children can’t conceive so I don’t think that having children or not is limited to an age factor only. The youngest mother known in history is a 5 year old (Lina) whereas the oldest known mother is a 73 year old (Yeramatti). Again, I know that is a factor but it cannot be generalised to all of the population. B) The Prophet ﷺ had no other children from his other wives too except for Khadija RA and Maria RA. So again, it was Allah’s will. C) The part about her being short statured can be easily attributed to early puberty and early epiphyseal closure. But then again, you’re a doctor and you already knew that. D) Aisha RA did all kinds of stuff that children do. She was mature and witty for her age but she was also a child at heart. The Prophet ﷺ used to race with her. It is narrated in hadith that He ﷺ used to take her to see the Habashi Carnival (don’t know if it should be called a carnival though) and would stand there for long even at his ﷺ age, just so Aisha RA could see it from behind him. E) Personally I believe that there is must be an error in where her age is stated because marriage in Islam and Quran is a civil contract, meesaaq (4:21), and as such it can be finalised only between persons who are intellectually and physically mature enough to understand and fulfill the responsibilities of such a contract. Hadith were gathered by humans in books and may be prone to error, but Quran is the word of Allah, so no errors in it. And whenever it comes to a decision, Quran will always be above any collection of hadith. Also, what difference does it make if Maria RA was a wife or a concubine? Why bring it up? 🙄
An anecdote of converting someone doesn't really address the concern. Many exploitative relationships with minors and captives develop genuine bonds, it's a survival mechanism that today we recognise as stockholm syndrome. While I agree it was normal at the time, no psychologists today would sanction this relationship as healthy. Depraved actions don't need depraved intentions, and while I don't believe this marriage came from evil intentions perse, it must be looked at objectively.
Remember that the anecdote isn't the point, rather the facts: The relationship between Aisha and Muhammad was what we would consider a very healthy and nurturing relationship. And of course, no psychologist _today_ would tell you that marrying a girl is a healthy relationship. Because times are different. Today we tell our youth that they become "responsible adults" at the age of 18. So their maturity is different. And yet, 1400 years ago, there were teenagers that led armies. That says something about the mentality and responsibility of youth back in those days, and how it has changed over time.
here's an objective answer, see the historical accounts all point to a bunch of numbers and ages concerning events in aisha's life, those numbers are : Aisha's sister asma was 100 years old when she died at 695 CE (well documented due to her son's death and her death afterwards) and that she was 10 years older than aisha, and that she was 27-28 years old by Hijra, so with these numbers in mind either way you slice it, she was born at 595, either from her age of death or date of hijra, and her sister aisha was born 10 years later which is 605-6 NOT 613-14, which means aisha would've been 14 and 17-18 when she was married off and the marriage was consummated, now the counter argument is that the hadith is from bukhari which is a reliable source, well its a source that is reliable sometimes but isn't perfect at all, its from a human source a few hundred years after the fact, and hadiths are collected by word of mouth which if you know anything about Chinese whisprers game, you know will yield inaccurate results even if you fact check a 100 times, regardless, this is my way of viewing things, any hadith that directly goes against the Quran which is to muslims the Objecitve word of god, is automatically invalid, and any hadith that isn't contradictory to the word of god may or may not be true, there are a few examples of contradictions in interpertations of hadiths , so do'nt take the hadiths as words of god, anyhow there's another argument since the age of aisha is very vague outside of events surrounding her, and that hadith is the only one that mentions her age being that young , why did none of the critics of the prophet attack him based on that age if it was so wrong and taboo, its 2 things, she wasn't that young to begin with (which is probably the case) and also back then children matured much faster due to different circumstances, kids as young as 12 were going to war, WAR ffs , and from outside a divine or religious perspective, its is objectively wrong to vue historical figures through a post modern lens and judge them based on our morality today , many historical figures married youngs kids and the general basis for marriage was puberty which girls hit quite early even today, i hope this sheds some light into the issue you can look up these facts yourself to get a better understanding if my poor explanations wasn't up to par :)

all you Christians & muslims brothers & sisters,please do your research before you just blindly read of a screen or hear something,and believe it without knowing the truth about it.The hadiths about the marriage of Aisha(ra) to the holy prophet(saw) we accept them and don't deny or feel ashamed at all in anyway at all.Every sahih hadith we accept,now Aisha(ra) said I was married to the holy prophet(saw) when I was 9yrs old,but then in the other hadith she said 10yrs old then other 6-9yrs old.She said marriage was consummated at age 9yrs old,another 10yrs old,another 6yrs old and so on.Npw this shows Aisha(ra) didn't know her own age,also before Aisha(ra) was married to the holy prophet(saw),she was engaged to AZ-Zubair to get married.Then the revelation came from Allah(swt) that the holy prophet(saw) is to marry Aisha(ra).So the engagement was ended and Abu Bakr (ra) accepted the proposal from the holy prophet(saw).Hadith 3682 in bukhari tells of this and hadith 3607 in bukhari tells of this.Ibn kathir reports in Al bidaya wa nihaya reports Asma(ra) older sister was 10yrs older than Aisa(ra).Asma(ra) was 100yrs old when she died in year 73 hijra,she never lost her memory,not a tooth neither senile.Asma(ra) was 27yrs old when she did hijra.This proves Aisha(ra) was 16-17 when married to holy prophet(saw).Consummated at age 18-19yrs old.Ibn hajar askalani confirms ibn kathir in his book (al isaba tabir sahaba).Then theres multiple other scholars who confirmed these facts,check the sources I've provided plus hadiths,so you can stop comin with these pathetic arguments.Fellow muslims,if this question is out to you,if your not educated to answer,then don't engage in trying to answer that which you dont know,as you'll only make things look worse.

Alhamdulliah, great explanation! The problem is that people judge the values and customs that were normal in the past by the values and customs that were only adopted in recent decades. You can not do that. Thousands of years ago, there was no such thing as age of consent. Age of consent back then was when one reached puberty. When one reached puberty, they were considered adults. Not just in Arabia or Africa, but worldwide. I recalled as late as the 80's, the age of consent laws in many of the southern states were as young as 14. It is also possible that those who make fun of the Prophet Muhammad SAW had ancestors who were married as young as Aisha RAA. If you make mockery of the Prophet SAW, you are also making mockery of your ancestors.

The reason no one ever questioned Aisha's age until now, in my opinion, is because Muslims were not thinking critically until now. Rather than believe someone has inserted a falsehood into the Buchari collection most Muslims believe the Prophet married a baby and had sex with a little girl. Some say Allah strengthened Aisha's body supernaturally. Why go to the trouble? Why not give the Prophet a ready-made woman? It was a norm back then for men to marry children, but here's the problem, Muhammad supposedly wasn't a normal man, he was a prophet who supposedly spoke to God, yet it took "normal" men hundreds of years later to realise that having sex with children is despicable. the hadith is sahih 100% no doubt. but I still think she was young, definitely not 18-20. more like10-11 when married, 13-14 at time of consummation. The reason is because it is a well known fact arabs at the time of the prophet before hijra didn't record dates but remembered based on events. check this video in youtube by drew binsky "THEY DON'T HAVE BIRTHDAYS (seriously)". it shows people in yemen don't know their age. so in my opinion Aisha was estimating her age when she narrated the hadith. Furthermore, events at bukhari indeed puts her somewhere between 13-14-15 at time of consummation, and Allah knows best

In the Quran, it CLEARLY states that Prophet NOAH lived till the age of 950 YEARS OLD. Should we just literally believe this is 100% our standard of 950 years too ?? MANY other prophets in the Quran, even in the Bible too, human AGES can reach 300+ till EVEN over 700 years old too !!

The marriage of the Prophet to Aisha when she was a girl of 9 years - A BLATANT LIE! By: Islam Buhairy The biography and specified dates contained in the reference books provide an important response to the hadith’ of Bukhari and confirms that the daughter of Abu Bakr married the Prophet when she was eighteen year old. It is due to such matters that Islam receives many stabs! It is from these disputable subjects that our beloved Prophet becomes the subject of many fabrications and accusations related to his wives and his relationships with women. Numerous stories about his marriages and dealings with women contain historical inaccuracies and lack of precision in connection with the narrations. These are then exploited by many to attack Islam and discredit the beloved Messenger. Yet, the voices of our scholars remain silent despite their acquisition of factual replies and they restrict their efforts in belittling the critics and shedding doubt over their true intentions! Then, when the sensible voices attempt to defend the Prophet peace be upon him by showing the inaccuracies in many narrations that are the core of the attack on Islam, like the story of the marriage of Prophet PBUH to Aisha when she was nine years old, they are faced with the insurmountable obstacle of ascribing sanctity to the old jurisprudence curriculums and claims the books of Bukhari and Muslim to be infallible! As a result, all diligent attempts to correct these narrations, even when they are the subject of doubt, are rejected on grounds that all attempts of innovation, addition, omission, commentary or criticism are totally rejected! Due to this logic, our scholars remain silent in the face of waves of attacks on Islam and its Messenger. One of the most widely circulated is the case of the narration in Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet PBUH while in his fifties married Aisha at the age of six and started having sexual intercourse with her when she was nine years old! This story has attained full immunity from criticism simply because it was narrated in Bukhari and Muslim, even though it contradicts everything there is to contradict! It contradicts the Quran, the authentic sunna, reason, logic, customs and the timeline for the events of the Prophet's mission. Based on the principle historical and biography of the Prophet’s mission such as (Alcaml- History of Damascus - History of Al-Tabari - The beginning and the end - The history of Baghdad, and many others), they all agree on the chronological order of events during the Prophet's mission as follows: According to these references, the mission of the Prophet started In Mecca where is continued for (13) years, after which it continued for (10) years in Medina. The start of the mission was in the year (610 AD) and the migration to Medina was in (623 AD). The Prophet died in the year (633 AD) which was (10) years after he migrated to Medina. It is also agreed that the Prophet married Aisha (3) years before his migration to Medina which was in the year (620 AD). This was the (10) year after the start of the revelation when Aisha was (6) years old, then he started having sexual intercourse with her after 3 years and few months, which was at the end of the year (623 AD) when she was (9) years old. This implies that she was born in the year (614 AD) which was the (4th ) year of the revelation according to Bukhari. This is a great fallacy. Historical criticism of the narration: 1- Historical accounts: All historical references state that Asmaa (sister of Aisha) was (10) years older than her sister Aisha. The same references agree unanimously that Asmaa was born (27) years before the migration to Medina. This means that Asmaa was 14 years old at the start of the revelation in (610) and Aisha was 4 years old. This means that Aisha was born in the year (606 AD). We have seen that the Prophet married Aisha in the year (620 AD), which would make her (14) years at the time. It is also stated that the Prophet started having sexual intercourse 3 years and few months after the marriage which would be the end of the (1st) year after Hijrah and the beginning of the (2nd) year, which was the year (624 AD). If Aisha was born in the year (606 AD), then she would have been (18) years old when she started a full marital life with the Prophet. 2- The age of Aisha in relation to the death of her sister Asmaa: The same references unanimously confirm that Asmaa died after a well documented incident which was the death of her son (Abdullah bin Al-Zubair) by the hand of the famous tyrant Al-Hajjaj. This happened in the year 73 Hijri when she was 100 years old. If we subtract 73 from 100 we would know that Asmaa was 27 years old at the time of the Prophet’s migration to Medina which was start of the Hijri Calendar. Since Asmaa was 10 years older than Aisha, this makes Aisha 17 years old at the time of the migration. And since the Prophet started a full marital wife with Aisha at the end of the first year after Hijrah, then the age of Aisha would have been 17 + 1 = 18 years old when she was married. This is also confirmed by (Al-Tabari) who asserts in his book (The History of Nations) that all the children of (Abu Bakr) were born in the days of the Jahilliyyah (the days before the revelation). This is consistent with the correct chronology and exposes the dubious nature of the narration in Bukhari. Aisha was indeed born in the fourth year before the start of the prophetic mission. Criticism of the narration found in the books of hadith and biography: 1- It was reported by (Ibn Kathir) in (The Beginning and the End) regarding the ones who were the early believers “Out of the women ... Asmaa and Aisha who was a young girl. These believed in the years when the prophet was preaching secretly for fear of persecution.” This indicates that Aisha believed before the Prophet proclaimed the message in the open, which was in the 4th year of the revelation (614). This would refute the narration of Bukhari which states that Aisha was born in the 4th year of the revelation! Based on the account of Ibn Kathir, Aisha was born in the year 606 and was therefore 8 years old in the 4th year after the revelation, which fits with the chronological line of events. 2- It was reported by Bukhari himself that Aisha said, “I have not known my parents except as believers. No day would pass without the messenger of God coming to us day and evening, then when the Muslims were afflicted Abu Bakr emigrated to Abyssinia.” It is agreed among historians that the migration of Abu-Bakr to Abyssinia was in the 5th year of revelation. According to Bukhari, Aisha would have been only one year old in the 5th year of revelation. If Aisha was born in the 4th year of revelation, this would make her only 1 year old when her father emigrated, but she was aware of the visits of the Prophet to their home, which was before the 5th year, which means that when she said these words she must have been at an age to comprehend such events and not one year old. 3- The following is reported in the book (Aisha) by Imam Ahmad, «When Khadijah died, Khawla daughter of Hakim and wife of Othman bin Mathoun said: ‘O Messenger of God, will you not get married?’ He said, ‘Who to marry?’ She said, ‘If you wish you can have either a virgin or a non virgin.’ He said, ‘Who is the virgin?’ She said, ‘The one who is the dearest to you of all God’s creation, Aisha, daughter of Abu Bakr.’ From this dialogue it is obvious that Khawla was putting forward to the Prophet the option of marrying either one of two women who were of an age suitable for marriage, and not a child who is not yet ready for marriage. It is inconceivable that she was proposing to the Prophet a child of 6 years old for marriage. In addition, if she was proposing a child of 6 years old, would she need to describe her as a virgin, are not all 6 year old girls virgins? 4- It was also reported by Imam Ahmad that Aisha used to be engaged to Jubair Bin Mutyim who was the son of Al-Mutyim Bin Udai who was a disbeliever. Abu Bakr, father of Aisha, would not have agreed to this engagement after the start of the revelation since this family were disbelievers. This proves that Aisha was born before the revelation, and that Abu Bakr would not have seen much wrong in giving a promise of engagement of his daughter to a disbelieving man since at the time before the revelation all people (including Abu Bakr) were following the pagan traditions of Arabia. After the start of the revelation, Abu Bakr, who was a man of his word, wanted to be absolved from his word, and he was able to do so without breaking his word as the decision to break up the engagement came from the other party.

Allah decreed that a child under puberty can be married and have sex. This is the God you worship. And they reached puberty at around 12 years old due to hot climate .If we think Hazrat Aisha reached puberty at 12 and add 8/9 , her real age becomes around 20 when she got married. All evidence mounts up that Aisha was from 18 to 22 when the Prophet married her. The thing is, the ONLY evidence is a hadith from bukhary, one hadith which might very well be mistaken. There are other hadiths that contradict it. So obviously there's much more to this issue. Dr. Adnan Ibrahim (famous Palestinian scholar living in Vienna now) did an entire Masters Thesis on the age of Aisha at her marriage, and he completely refuted the claim that she was 9 years old. How utterly and completely stupid one has to be to think that a girl can be engaged at 6 and married at 9!!! There's a video of him on youtube completely destroying this. Had that been the case, it would be common Arab practice to marry girls at this age since the prophet himself did it, but one cannot find any single source that would claim this was ever Arab tradition before or after Islam. Absolute minimum age at which girls were married was when they completed puberty which is 12-15 at the very minimum (this still happens in some Bedouin Arab societies), but 9 is UNHEARD of, which is quite a strong proof the whole thing is baseless. The WHOLE PROBLEM, and believe me that's the entire problem, is that Salafists think Sahih Bukhary is Quran, which it isn't, it can very well have mistakes and it does, a lot. It's just a bunch of things people heard other people saying. Not only that, Salafists believe a text should only be understood by its "outer" or "shallow" meaning, no "thinking" about it(!!), apparently using their brain hurts!! Yes Imam Bukhary and other Hadith scholars tried their best to get hadith only from truthful people, but some hadiths might be misheard, some might be misunderstood (since lots of them are conveyed by meaning, not literally), some might be blunt lies. There are measures for the validity of the CONTENT of a Hadith, not only the people who tell it. Sadly, Salafists would go to great lengths to prove EVERY Bukhary and Muslim Hadith is sacred, even if it would mean making the prophet look like an indecent person (contradicting basic Quran statements and thousands of other hadiths). It's unprecedented stupidity. So here I am, telling you Muslims around the world, don't follow Salafists. Sahih Al Bukhary and Muslim are not sacred texts, not everything in them is to believed, they contain thousands of Hadiths, lots of them are bound to have mistakes and sometimes deliberate lies on the great Prophet peace be upon him. There is SO MUCH to this issue of Hadiths that I would advise not to focus on Hadiths especially if you aren't Arab and moreover if you aren't a scholar, and focus more on the Quran, since its validity is not to be disputed by any Muslim. Believe me there's so much more to it, even politics, a scholar would be "paid" to only tell Hadiths that rulers want or like. Hadiths about certain subjects rulers didn't like were omitted from books, etc. etc. So yeah, its a big issue, don't get yourself into it unless you really want to dig deep.

General principle is that Hadith should be interpreted in the Light of Quran. Quran is 1st source of reference and if any Hadhees contradicting Quran should be disregarded. He writes under Asma, the older daughter of Abu Bakr: “She was the sister of Aisha Siddiqa, wife of the Holy Prophet, and was ten years older than her. … In 73 A.H. … Asma died at the age of one hundred years.” [6] So it would make Asma a 28 years of age in I A.H the year of the Hijra, thus making Aisha 18 yrs old in I A.H. Making Aisha 19 when her marriage was consumated,and 14 or 15 years old at the time of her nikah. Not only that,Aisha's birth was a little bit before call is consisent when with the opening words of a statement by her which is recorded four times in Bukhari. Those words are as follows: “Ever since I can remember (or understand things) my parents were following the religion of Islam.” [8] This is tantamount to say she was born ater her parents accepted islam,but Aisha can only seem to remember then always following the religion of Islam. . Al-Bukhari (Bab - Jewar of Abu Bakr during the time of the Prophet) reported that (Aisha) said: I have never thought of my parents except when they are professing the religion, and not a day passes for us without the Messenger of God coming to us both ends of the day in the morning and the evening, and when the Muslims were afflicted, Abu Bakr went out, migrating toward Abyssinia). Then (Aisha) says that she did not understand her parents except when they were religiously professed, and that before the migration of Abyssinia as I mentioned, and she Said that the Prophet used to come to their home every day, which shows that she was rational for these visits, and what is certain is that the migration of Abyssinia was unanimous among the history books in the year (5) From the beginning of the Prophet’s mission, which corresponds to the year (615 AD), The narration that was mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari, which indicates events that occurred before the fourth year of the mission and that Aisha (MOB) narrated, indicates that Aisha was present before the fourth year of the mission started, and not only existed, but she was at the height of her awareness and understanding, enabling her to narrate the events of a story that occurred In this way and this means: If we assume that Aisha (Mother of the believers) was at least 5 to 7 years old before the fourth year of the mission, as it's realisticly and practicly impossible. This means that her age when the Messenger Married to her in the second year of the Hijra, cannot be in any way less than 15 to 17 years at least, and this undermines the narration that says that it was 9 years old from its roots! 🔴 3) Her previous Marriage before the Messenger of God Almighty to Jabir bin Mut`im. (Was a Marriage and not just an engagement). And this is one of the largest evidences out there, which confirm maturity without any doubt. From reviewing the evidence of Abbas Al-Akkad, the evidence that he is more likely to say that Aisha’s age at the time of her wedding to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was not less than fifteen years at least. Based on this extensive research of Al-Akkad is certain that the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family) married to Aisha when she had reached a woman age, and she was seventeen at the time of marriage at the very least. And not that she was at that time a girl of six or nine, playing with swings, as claimed in hadiths atributed to her. As for the claim that Aysha (MOB) had never been married before the marriage to the messenger, is also one of the well-known lies. She had previously married Jubayr ibn Muta`im, then divorced, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, married her. This is exactly what Ibn Saad narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Malika: “The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, when he spoke about Aisha, said Abu Bakr: I was given her to Mut'im for his son Jubayr, so let me save her from them, so he took her away from them as he divorced her, eventually the Messenger of God, may God bless him, married her. ” (Al-Tabaqat al-Kubra by Ibn Saad, c.7, p. 59). Facts: Many hadiths show that Umm Jubayr rejected the mother of the believers, by saying to Abu Bakr (Do you want my son to accept Islam as your daughter did), meaning Aysha became Muslim. This indicates that Aisha, the mother of the believers, was an adult and mature and took the decision of Islam as an adult, and this is in Mecca. If we believe that her marriage to the Prophet was 9 years, then that means that she was married to Jubayr while she was a baby, and this is not acceptable to even think of. Also, her mother, the wife of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq - may God be pleased with her - saw that her daughter had grown up when her engagement was annulled (the truth is her divorce from Jubayr bin Mut'im bin Uday), and when she learned that the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - had mentioned her for Engagement to himself, she said to Abu Bakr - be pleased God on him -: (This is your daughter Aisha, Allah had moved Jubayr and his family out of her way, so push her to the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - so you may receive goodness and blessing) ▪︎The mother the best to know the signs of her daughter readiness for marriage and signs of her femininity. So what is certain is that Aisha had been married and given to her husband, then she was surrendered and divorced from him, and this also confirms that she had reached the age of readiness at that time of her marriage, not that she was a child. Note: as for whether she was a virgin in this marriage? The Hadeeth is silent about explaining that either way. Our strong beliefs that she wasn't a Virgin, as the narration is sensed, as it confirms that Abu Bakr had “given” her by her husband in marriage. Ibn Saad narrated in Tabaqah (8: 09) on the authority of Abdullah bin Malikah who said the speeches of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace) Aisha bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq. He said: I had given her Mut'im for his son Jubayr, so let me until I save/drove her from them, so he took her away from them and Jubayr divorced her, so the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) married her. With the greatest of respect to your religion and to your prophet, I would have liked to hear you discuss the issue of Aisha's age when she married and when the marriage was consummated. I do understand that this may have been no problem at the time it happened and society only now considers this to be not a good thing for young children. However, if Muhammed was acting on morality received from God then how can we now think that his actions at the time were moral and are now not moral. Since God is the final word on morality. I do know that women and girls married earlier and had children earlier. This was completely the norm at the time. And what the Prophet did for Aisha no doubt saved her life and was a good thing given the times they lived in. But my question was really around the point that Gods word should not and cannot be changed. God is eternal and knows the future as he has made a plan for us. Yet if a man in his 50s today wanted to marry our 6 year old daughter or niece we would never allow it. We would view the sexual relationship between a 9 or 10 year old girl and a man close to 60 as immoral by todays standards no matter the good intentions behind it. Does this mean that we are more moral than God? Surely not. My cousin shares the name Aisha. I always thought it was such a beautiful name and its so nice to know its origins. But I could never imagine a scenario where she would at 10 years old be intimate with a man almost 50 years her senior.

She was even engaged to get married to a guy before her father converted to Islam and cacelled the marriage. SubhanAllah. The disbelievers at the time of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would try to find everything they could to make him look bad. They called him crazy, a magician. But something to think about is, NOBODY, not even the disbelievers who hated him, said anything about his marriage to Aisha. Why? Because it was the norm, as girls often matured faster than those of today, and often became married and mothers at “young”, ages, though they were well mature::: whereas today, girls are becoming pregnant with their boyfriends at ages as young as 12. I’m not saying all girls. But, is not giving birth at such a young age a norm in our western, modern societies too?
Also, no man can force a woman into marriage... an act committed before Islam, and also prevails today. Aisha was, under the Islamic law, protected under this right (that no man can force marry her without her consent) in fact, she was engaged previously to a man of Mecca, but she broke it because he was a bad and a disbeliever. So when the proposal arrived to her, she was thrilled and accepted.
And, if you’re sincere while reading this, you’ll consider that pedophiles are disgusting human beings nobody likes to be around, let alone follow. A pedophile can never gain so many followers world wide, for centuries... nobody, man and woman, would want to follow him. The word pedophile was first originated in the west, in the 1940’s. 🔴 4) Aisha's Islam before Omar Ibn al-Khattab: (This's a clear strong evidence)
According to Ibn Hisham's summary of the Prophet's biography of Ibn Ishaq, Aisha (Abu bakr Al Sidiq Family) embrace Islam before Umar Ibn al-Khattab embraced it, which means that she was at least 14 years old at the time of her wedding to the Prophet, peace be upon him, thus dropping the age of 9 years completely.
🔴 5) And This's an ultimate proof:
Knowing the Age of Aisha (MOB) by calculations, based on het older Sister Asma (may Allah be pleased with her):
According to Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Zinad: Asmaa was ten years older than Aisha (biography of the flags of the nobles, al-Dhahabi: Maj. 2, p. 289, Foundation for the Message, Beirut, 1992). Ibn Katheer also agrees with Ibn Abi al-Zinad’s narration and says that she is - Asma: Ten years older than her sister Aisha (The Beginning and the End, Ibn Katheer Maj. 8, p. 371, Dar Al-Fikr Al-Arabi - Giza 1933).
Ibn Katheer agrees with what all historians affirm without disagreement that Asma "witnessed the killing of her son during that year (73 AH), as previously mentioned, and five days later she died. And like other accounts, she did not die after 5 days, but rather after 10 or 20 days, or a few days later, or even a hundred days after the accident, so that the most likely story remains that she died a hundred days later, when she is 100 years old. (Beginning and End Ibn Katheer, Mug 8, p. 372, Dar Al-Fikr Al-Arabi, Giza 1933).
And bin Hajar Al-Asqalani narrates that “Asma bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq [That Al-Nitaqain], the wife of Al-Zubayr bin Al-Awam, one of the great companions, lived a hundred years and died in the year of seventy-three (Al-Tahdheeb, Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, p. 654, chapter on Women, Harf) a thousand).
According to the opinion of most historians, Asma, Aisha's older sister were ten years older than the last, and if Asma 'reached the 100 years of Hijra, then her age at the time of the migration would necessarily be 27 years old, and therefore Aisha’s age at that time would be 17 years old, and she also began living Along with the Prophet and she was 19 or 20 years old. Based on the narrations of Ibn Hajar, Ibn Katheer and Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Al-Zinad, the age of Aisha at the time of her marriage to the Prophet was between 19 and 20 years at least.
🔴 6) The date of Aisha's death determines the date of her marriage:
It is also mentioned in Al Maarif by Ibn Qutaybah that Aisha, the mother of the believers, died in 58 AH at the age of 77. Thus, the age of Aisha, the mother of the believers, immediately before the emigration, was 19 years (77-58), and since she married to the noble Messenger in the second year of the Hijra..so she was 21 years old at that time.
Even if we take the minimum approach, the presence of other accounts in other historical sources that determine Aisha’s age at 66 years of age, assuming that her age was only 5 years + 12 years (from the fourth year before the mission until the second year of migration) = 17 years at least.
🔴 7) Sahih al-Bukhari prooves Aisha's age:
This's another narration confirms for us Aisha's participation in the Battle of Uhud. “Anas narates that on Uhud: I saw Aisha bint Abi Bakr and Umm Salim, rolled their hands ready (Sleeves) - I witness the work of their arms - transport water containers on their bodies, empty them into the mouths of the people, then return and fill it, then come and empty it into the mouths of the people (Bukhari, Al-Fath. No. (2880).
This is a clear evidence of their grown age. Her age and her ability to serve the army during the Battle of Uhud. (As it's well known fact the Messenger never allow young children to participate in battles).
Thus, it is confirmed once again that Aisha witnessed the battles of Uhud and Badr.
🔴 8) Al-Bukhari narrates to us in another hadith:
On the authority of Yahya bin Saeed, said that Nafeh said, on the authority of Ibn Omar, May Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he offered himself to the messenger on the day of Uhud when he was fourteen years old, and Messenger didn't allow him, and offered himself at the Ahzab, and he was allowed at the age of 15.
(Kitab Al-Maghazi, Chapter of the Battle of Al-Khandaq, which is the Ahzab or Trench).
This is a very strong evidence that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was not permitting to let someone under the age of fifteen in the Battles.
🌟This is evidence that the age of 9 years has no validity at all.
🔴 9) Participation in the battle of Badr:
In Sahih Muslim, a narration confirms Aisha's participation in the battle of Badr and is attributed to Aisha in the course of her discussion of her trip to Badr and about an important accident that occurred while traveling: “... even if we were in the tree ....” Which is clear evidence that she was among the delegation Traveling towards Badr, and the Prophet does not take children with him. (The Book of fighting and travel).

Aisha (رضي الله عنها) was betrothed (engaged) to the Messenger of Allaah (اللهم صل على محمد وأزواجه) at the age of 6. The Messenger consummated the marriage WITHOUT having sexual intercourse at the age of 9, by bring her to his living quarters. She didn't see his (صلى الله عليه وسلم) private parts UNTIL a day after Ghazwa At-Tabuk, which means she was about 14 years of age or older. I believe this is a hadith in the Sahih Sitta which I read more than twenty years ago (possibly this hadith is in the Sunan of Abi Daud or Jami' At-Tirmidhee).

Sahih al-Bukhari's hadith says "that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old." Various ahadith states that Aisha was either nine or ten at the time of her consummation come from collections with sahih status, meaning they are regarded as reputable by most Sunni Muslims.

The only reason people see it as weird is just because it isnt done anymore, for example lets say in the far future the average lifespan was 500 yrs old and the average age of marriage was 200 yrs old, it would be considered extremely weird to marry a 30 yr old. A) Many reproductive women of age who weren’t “sexually abused” as children can’t conceive so I don’t think that having children or not is limited to an age factor only. The youngest mother known in history is a 5 year old (Lina) whereas the oldest known mother is a 73 year old (Yeramatti). Again, I know that is a factor but it cannot be generalised to all of the population.
B) The Prophet ﷺ had no other children from his other wives too except for Khadija RA and Maria RA. So again, it was Allah’s will.
C) The part about her being short statured can be easily attributed to early puberty and early epiphyseal closure. But then again, you’re a doctor and you already knew that.
D) Aisha RA did all kinds of stuff that children do. She was mature and witty for her age but she was also a child at heart. The Prophet ﷺ used to race with her. It is narrated in hadith that He ﷺ used to take her to see the Habashi Carnival (don’t know if it should be called a carnival though) and would stand there for long even at his ﷺ age, just so Aisha RA could see it from behind him.
E) Personally I believe that there is must be an error in where her age is stated because marriage in Islam and Quran is a civil contract, meesaaq (4:21), and as such it can be finalised only between persons who are intellectually and physically mature enough to understand and fulfill the responsibilities of such a contract. This is the what the Quran says.

Hadith were gathered by humans in books and may be prone to error, but Quran is the word of Allah, so no errors in it. And whenever it comes to a decision, Quran will always be above any collection of hadith.

An anecdote of converting someone doesn't really address the concern. Many exploitative relationships with minors and captives develop genuine bonds, it's a survival mechanism that today we recognise as stockholm syndrome. While I agree it was normal at the time, no psychologists today would sanction this relationship as healthy. Depraved actions don't need depraved intentions, and while I don't believe this marriage came from evil intentions perse, it must be looked at objectively.
Remember that the anecdote isn't the point, rather the facts: The relationship between Aisha and Muhammad was what we would consider a very healthy and nurturing relationship.
And of course, no psychologist _today_ would tell you that marrying a girl is a healthy relationship. Because times are different. Today we tell our youth that they become "responsible adults" at the age of 18. So their maturity is different. And yet, 1400 years ago, there were teenagers that led armies. That says something about the mentality and responsibility of youth back in those days, and how it has changed over time.
here's an objective answer, see the historical accounts all point to a bunch of numbers and ages concerning events in aisha's life, those numbers are : Aisha's sister asma was 100 years old when she died at 695 CE (well documented due to her son's death and her death afterwards) and that she was 10 years older than aisha, and that she was 27-28 years old by Hijra, so with these numbers in mind either way you slice it, she was born at 595, either from her age of death or date of hijra, and her sister aisha was born 10 years later which is 605-6 NOT 613-14, which means aisha would've been 14 and 17-18 when she was married off and the marriage was consummated, now the counter argument is that the hadith is from bukhari which is a reliable source, well its a source that is reliable sometimes but isn't perfect at all, its from a human source a few hundred years after the fact, and hadiths are collected by word of mouth which if you know anything about Chinese whisprers game, you know will yield inaccurate results even if you fact check a 100 times, regardless, this is my way of viewing things, any hadith that directly goes against the Quran which is to muslims the Objecitve word of god, is automatically invalid, and any hadith that isn't contradictory to the word of god may or may not be true, there are a few examples of contradictions in interpertations of hadiths , so do'nt take the hadiths as words of god, anyhow there's another argument since the age of aisha is very vague outside of events surrounding her, and that hadith is the only one that mentions her age being that young , why did none of the critics of the prophet attack him based on that age if it was so wrong and taboo, its 2 things, she wasn't that young to begin with (which is probably the case) and also back then children matured much faster due to different circumstances, kids as young as 12 were going to war, WAR ffs , and from outside a divine or religious perspective, its is objectively wrong to vue historical figures through a post modern lens and judge them based on our morality today , many historical figures married youngs kids and the general basis for marriage was puberty which girls hit quite early even today, i hope this sheds some light into the issue you can look up these facts yourself to get a better understanding if my poor explanations wasn't up to par :)

Islam taught us a lifestyles and brought solutions for humanity according to time and present norms at that time and now. all you Christians & muslims brothers & sisters,please do your research before you just blindly read of a screen or hear something,and believe it without knowing the truth about it.The hadiths about the marriage of Aisha(ra) to the holy prophet(saw) we accept them and don't deny or feel ashamed at all in anyway at all.Every sahih hadith we accept,now Aisha(ra) said I was married to the holy prophet(saw) when I was 9yrs old,but then in the other hadith she said 10yrs old then other 6-9yrs old.She said marriage was consummated at age 9yrs old,another 10yrs old,another 6yrs old and so on.Npw this shows Aisha(ra) didn't know her own age,also before Aisha(ra) was married to the holy prophet(saw),she was engaged to AZ-Zubair to get married.Then the revelation came from Allah(swt) that the holy prophet(saw) is to marry Aisha(ra).So the engagement was ended and Abu Bakr (ra) accepted the proposal from the holy prophet(saw).Hadith 3682 in bukhari tells of this and hadith 3607 in bukhari tells of this.Ibn kathir reports in Al bidaya wa nihaya reports Asma(ra) older sister was 10yrs older than Aisa(ra).Asma(ra) was 100yrs old when she died in year 73 hijra,she never lost her memory,not a tooth neither senile.Asma(ra) was 27yrs old when she did hijra.This proves Aisha(ra) was 16-17 when married to holy prophet(saw).Consummated at age 18-19yrs old.Ibn hajar askalani confirms ibn kathir in his book (al isaba tabir sahaba).Then theres multiple other scholars who confirmed these facts,check the sources I've provided plus hadiths,so you can stop comin with these pathetic arguments.Fellow muslims,if this question is out to you,if your not educated to answer,then don't engage in trying to answer that which you dont know,as you'll only make things look worse.

You can not do that. Thousands of years ago, there was no such thing as age of consent. Age of consent back then was when one reached puberty. When one reached puberty, they were considered adults. Not just in Arabia or Africa, but worldwide. I recalled as late as the 80's, the age of consent laws in many of the southern states were as young as 14. It is also possible that those who make fun of the Prophet Muhammad SAW had ancestors who were married as young as Aisha RAA. If you make mockery of the Prophet SAW, you are also making mockery of your ancestors.

The riwayat in which Aisha says she was 6/9 years old are fabricated and conflict with many historical facts that identify her as approximately 18 years old.

1)Aisha was 10 years younger than her sister Asmaa.
2) we know alot about Asmaa's age -27years during the hijrah -making Aisha 17 years at that point. (one year before her marriage).

The biography and specified dates contained in the reference books provide an important response to the hadith’ of Bukhari and confirms that the daughter of Abu Bakr married the Prophet when she was eighteen year old.
It is due to such matters that Islam receives many stabs! It is from these disputable subjects that our beloved Prophet becomes the subject of many fabrications and accusations related to his wives and his relationships with women. Numerous stories about his marriages and dealings with women contain historical inaccuracies and lack of precision in connection with the narrations.
These are then exploited by many to attack Islam and discredit the beloved Messenger. Yet, the voices of our scholars remain silent despite their acquisition of factual replies and they restrict their efforts in belittling the critics and shedding doubt over their true intentions! Then, when the sensible voices attempt to defend the Prophet peace be upon him by showing the inaccuracies in many narrations that are the core of the attack on Islam, like the story of the marriage of Prophet PBUH to Aisha when she was nine years old, they are faced with the insurmountable obstacle of ascribing sanctity to the old jurisprudence curriculums and claims the books of Bukhari and Muslim to be infallible! As a result, all diligent attempts to correct these narrations, even when they are the subject of doubt, are rejected on grounds that all attempts of innovation, addition, omission, commentary or criticism are totally rejected!
Due to this logic, our scholars remain silent in the face of waves of attacks on Islam and its Messenger. One of the most widely circulated is the case of the narration in Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet PBUH while in his fifties married Aisha at the age of six and started having sexual intercourse with her when she was nine years old! This story has attained full immunity from criticism simply because it was narrated in Bukhari and Muslim, even though it contradicts everything there is to contradict! It contradicts the Quran, the authentic sunna, reason, logic, customs and the timeline for the events of the Prophet's mission.
Based on the principle historical and biography of the Prophet’s mission such as (Alcaml- History of Damascus - History of Al-Tabari - The beginning and the end - The history of Baghdad, and many others), they all agree on the chronological order of events during the Prophet's mission as follows:
According to these references, the mission of the Prophet started In Mecca where is continued for (13) years, after which it continued for (10) years in Medina. The start of the mission was in the year (610 AD) and the migration to Medina was in (623 AD). The Prophet died in the year (633 AD) which was (10) years after he migrated to Medina. It is also agreed that the Prophet married Aisha (3) years before his migration to Medina which was in the year (620 AD). This was the (10) year after the start of the revelation when Aisha was (6) years old, then he started having sexual intercourse with her after 3 years and few months, which was at the end of the year (623 AD) when she was (9) years old. This implies that she was born in the year (614 AD) which was the (4th ) year of the revelation according to Bukhari. This is a great fallacy.
Historical criticism of the narration:
1- Historical accounts: All historical references state that Asmaa (sister of Aisha) was (10) years older than her sister Aisha. The same references agree unanimously that Asmaa was born (27) years before the migration to Medina. This means that Asmaa was 14 years old at the start of the revelation in (610) and Aisha was 4 years old. This means that Aisha was born in the year (606 AD).
We have seen that the Prophet married Aisha in the year (620 AD), which would make her (14) years at the time. It is also stated that the Prophet started having sexual intercourse 3 years and few months after the marriage which would be the end of the (1st) year after Hijrah and the beginning of the (2nd) year, which was the year (624 AD). If Aisha was born in the year (606 AD), then she would have been (18) years old when she started a full marital life with the Prophet.
2- The age of Aisha in relation to the death of her sister Asmaa: The same references unanimously confirm that Asmaa died after a well documented incident which was the death of her son (Abdullah bin Al-Zubair) by the hand of the famous tyrant Al-Hajjaj. This happened in the year 73 Hijri when she was 100 years old. If we subtract 73 from 100 we would know that Asmaa was 27 years old at the time of the Prophet’s migration to Medina which was start of the Hijri Calendar. Since Asmaa was 10 years older than Aisha, this makes Aisha 17 years old at the time of the migration. And since the Prophet started a full marital wife with Aisha at the end of the first year after Hijrah, then the age of Aisha would have been 17 + 1 = 18 years old when she was married.
This is also confirmed by (Al-Tabari) who asserts in his book (The History of Nations) that all the children of (Abu Bakr) were born in the days of the Jahilliyyah (the days before the revelation). This is consistent with the correct chronology and exposes the dubious nature of the narration in Bukhari. Aisha was indeed born in the fourth year before the start of the prophetic mission.
Criticism of the narration found in the books of hadith and biography:
1- It was reported by (Ibn Kathir) in (The Beginning and the End) regarding the ones who were the early believers “Out of the women ... Asmaa and Aisha who was a young girl. These believed in the years when the prophet was preaching secretly for fear of persecution.” This indicates that Aisha believed before the Prophet proclaimed the message in the open, which was in the 4th year of the revelation (614). This would refute the narration of Bukhari which states that Aisha was born in the 4th year of the revelation! Based on the account of Ibn Kathir, Aisha was born in the year 606 and was therefore 8 years old in the 4th year after the revelation, which fits with the chronological line of events.
2- It was reported by Bukhari himself that Aisha said, “I have not known my parents except as believers. No day would pass without the messenger of God coming to us day and evening, then when the Muslims were afflicted Abu Bakr emigrated to Abyssinia.”
It is agreed among historians that the migration of Abu-Bakr to Abyssinia was in the 5th year of revelation. According to Bukhari, Aisha would have been only one year old in the 5th year of revelation. If Aisha was born in the 4th year of revelation, this would make her only 1 year old when her father emigrated, but she was aware of the visits of the Prophet to their home, which was before the 5th year, which means that when she said these words she must have been at an age to comprehend such events and not one year old.
3- The following is reported in the book (Aisha) by Imam Ahmad, «When Khadijah died, Khawla daughter of Hakim and wife of Othman bin Mathoun said: ‘O Messenger of God, will you not get married?’ He said, ‘Who to marry?’ She said, ‘If you wish you can have either a virgin or a non virgin.’ He said, ‘Who is the virgin?’ She said, ‘The one who is the dearest to you of all God’s creation, Aisha, daughter of Abu Bakr.’
From this dialogue it is obvious that Khawla was putting forward to the Prophet the option of marrying either one of two women who were of an age suitable for marriage, and not a child who is not yet ready for marriage. It is inconceivable that she was proposing to the Prophet a child of 6 years old for marriage. In addition, if she was proposing a child of 6 years old, would she need to describe her as a virgin, are not all 6 year old girls virgins?
4- It was also reported by Imam Ahmad that Aisha used to be engaged to Jubair Bin Mutyim who was the son of Al-Mutyim Bin Udai who was a disbeliever.
Abu Bakr, father of Aisha, would not have agreed to this engagement after the start of the revelation since this family were disbelievers.
This proves that Aisha was born before the revelation, and that Abu Bakr would not have seen much wrong in giving a promise of engagement of his daughter to a disbelieving man since at the time before the revelation all people (including Abu Bakr) were following the pagan traditions of Arabia.
After the start of the revelation, Abu Bakr, who was a man of his word, wanted to be absolved from his word, and he was able to do so without breaking his word as the decision to break up the engagement came from the other party.

According to Arabic tradition, daughters were considered as 1 year old when they reached puberty . And they reached puberty at around 12 years old due to hot climate .If we think Hazrat Aisha reached puberty at 12 and add 8/9 , her real age becomes around 20 when she got married. Our Prophet (saw) and Hazrat Aisha (r.anha) got married when mother Aisha was at least 20 years old. Would our Prophet (saw), who was sent as Mercy to the worlds, marry an 8-year-old child? All evidence mounts up that Aisha was from 18 to 22 when the Prophet married her.
The thing is, the ONLY evidence is a hadith from bukhary, one hadith which might very well be mistaken. There are other hadiths that contradict it. So obviously there's much more to this issue. Dr. Adnan Ibrahim (famous Palestinian scholar living in Vienna now) did an entire Masters Thesis on the age of Aisha at her marriage, and he completely refuted the claim that she was 9 years old. How utterly and completely stupid one has to be to think that a girl can be engaged at 6 and married at 9!!! There's a video of him on youtube completely destroying this.
Had that been the case, it would be common Arab practice to marry girls at this age since the prophet himself did it, but one cannot find any single source that would claim this was ever Arab tradition before or after Islam. Absolute minimum age at which girls were married was when they completed puberty which is 12-15 at the very minimum (this still happens in some Bedouin Arab societies), but 9 is UNHEARD of, which is quite a strong proof the whole thing is baseless.
The WHOLE PROBLEM, and believe me that's the entire problem, is that Salafists think Sahih Bukhary is Quran, which it isn't, it can very well have mistakes and it does, a lot. It's just a bunch of things people heard other people saying. Not only that, Salafists believe a text should only be understood by its "outer" or "shallow" meaning, no "thinking" about it(!!), apparently using their brain hurts!! Yes Imam Bukhary and other Hadith scholars tried their best to get hadith only from truthful people, but some hadiths might be misheard, some might be misunderstood (since lots of them are conveyed by meaning, not literally), some might be blunt lies. There are measures for the validity of the CONTENT of a Hadith, not only the people who tell it. Sadly, Salafists would go to great lengths to prove EVERY Bukhary and Muslim Hadith is sacred, even if it would mean making the prophet look like an indecent person (contradicting basic Quran statements and thousands of other hadiths). It's unprecedented stupidity. So here I am, telling you Muslims around the world, don't follow Salafists. Sahih Al Bukhary and Muslim are not sacred texts, not everything in them is to believed, they contain thousands of Hadiths, lots of them are bound to have mistakes and sometimes deliberate lies on the great Prophet peace be upon him. There is SO MUCH to this issue of Hadiths that I would advise not to focus on Hadiths especially if you aren't Arab and moreover if you aren't a scholar, and focus more on the Quran, since its validity is not to be disputed by any Muslim. Believe me there's so much more to it, even politics, a scholar would be "paid" to only tell Hadiths that rulers want or like. Hadiths about certain subjects rulers didn't like were omitted from books, etc. etc. So yeah, its a big issue, don't get yourself into it unless you really want to dig deep.

She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 234)

Umm Ruman (my mother) came to me and I was at that time on a swing along with my playmates. She called me loudly and I went to her and I did not know what she had wanted of me. She took hold of my hand and took me to the door, and I was saying: Ha, ha (as if I was gasping), until the agitation of my heart was over. She took me to a house, where had gathered the women of the Ansar. They all blessed me and wished me good luck and said: May you have share in good. She (my mother) entrusted me to them. They washed my head and embellished me and nothing frightened me. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came there in the morning, and I was entrusted to him. 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married her when she was seven years old, and he was taken to his house as a bride when she was nine, and her dolls were with her; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old. 1876. ‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) is reported to have said: Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) contracted marriage with me while I was (yet) a six years [sic] old girl. Then we arrived at Medina and stayed with Banu Harith b. Khazraj. I fell victim to fever; then my hair (of the head fell off (and became scattered). Then they became plenty and hanged down upto [sic] the earlobes. My mother ‘Umm Ruman came to me while I was (playing) in a swing alongwith [sic] my play-mates. She (the mother) called me loudly. 1877. Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him) is reported to have said, "The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married ‘A’isha while she was a seven years [sic] old girl and took him [sic] to his house as a bride when she was nine years old and he parted with her (after his demise) when she was eighteen years old."
According to Al-Zawa‘id its isnad is sahih in accordance with the condition prescribed by Bukhari, but munqata because Abu ‘Ubaida did not hear from his father. Shu‘ba Abu Hatim and Ibn Hibban mentioned him amongst the authentic and reliable authorities. Tirmidhi in al-Jami’ and al-Mazzi in al-Atraf (has expressed the same opinion). Nasa‘i has transmitted this hadith in al-Sughra from the hadith ‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her). (Sunan Ibn-I-Majah, Imam Abdullah Muhammad B. Frankly, this is a historical issue rather than islamical. Islam makes sense. History isn't 100% correct in our books. This is why there's debate on the topic by interpreting different hadith some have come to the conclusion of her being 9 some to 15 and others to 18. I don't agree with him saying that if she was married at 9 the kaafirs of mecca would have raised an issue out of it. They were tyrants. They didn't think women had rights. Aisha's age is literally still a debate,the hadith written about her claims she is 6 but many people do not believe this because...
Imam Wali-ud-Din Muhammad ibn Abdullah Al-Khatib, who died 700 years ago, has also written brief biographical notes on the narrators of Hadith reports. He writes under Asma, the older daughter of Abu Bakr:
“She was the sister of Aisha Siddiqa, wife of the Holy Prophet, and was ten years older than her. … In 73 A.H. … Asma died at the age of one hundred years.” [6]
So it would make Asma a 28 years of age in I A.H the year of the Hijra, thus making Aisha 18 yrs old in I A.H. Making Aisha 19 when her marriage was consumated,and 14 or 15 years old at the time of her nikah.
Not only that,Aisha's birth was a little bit before call is consisent when with the opening words of a statement by her which is recorded four times in Bukhari. Those words are as follows:
“Ever since I can remember (or understand things) my parents were following the religion of Islam.” [8]
This is tantamount to say she was born ater her parents accepted islam,but Aisha can only seem to remember then always following the religion of Islam. . No doubt she and her parents knew well whether she was born before or after they accepted Islam, as their acceptance of Islam was such a landmark event in their life which took place just after the Holy Prophet received his mission from Allah (swt) If she was born after her parents accepted islam,why would Aisha say she remembered her parents always following Islam. Not only is this consisent with her being born before the call, and being perhaps four or five years old at the time of the Call, which was also almost the time when her parents accepted Islam.

Had the Prophet married our mother Aisha (Mother of the Believers) at the age of 9, we would've been the first to defend this legislation, because the Prophet is the legislator.
However, it is a repetition of slander in the name and message of God, with many people repeat it without proper research and knowledge, believing a lie, and aim to defend a fabrication that didn't take place at all.
☆ Second explanation:
The heart is sad to see some people who insults the Prophet biography, they call him the ugliest and the most vile names.

The correct and logical answer is the source narrator who mentioned the age of Aisha, and all the so called correct sources end with (Hisham Ibn Urwa) the source.
The clear mistake that he made (or actually a recent alteration), is in mentioning that the mother of the belivers Aysha was born before the Immigration, and the correct is before the Mission started. (And this simple fact will make sense and align with all proofs and calculations we are presenting).

🔴 1) The date of the revelation of Surat Al-Qamar determines the age of Aisha (MOB):
It came in Sahih al-Bukhari on the authority of Yusuf ibn Mahek, who said: “At the time of Aisha, the mother of the believers, she said: It was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and I am a Maid. 《Rather, the hour is their time and the hour is worse and more important》knowing Surat Al-Qamar was revealed in the sixth or seventh year before the Hijra and the Messenger, peace be upon him, married her in the second year of the Hijra. If we believed the narrations that specify the age of nine years, this would mean that Surat al-Qamar was revealed while she was a baby, not a maid. She plays as she said in this hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari.
Facts:
Surat Al-Qamar was revealed at the beginning of the Prophet’s mission in Makkah.
And a maid, is not a child, meaning her age is more than 10 years or adolescence.
If her age is 10 years at least at the time of marriage in the second year of migration will be more than 20 years at least.
🔴 2) Another hadith in Al-Bukhari specifies the age of the Mother of the Believers, Aisha.
Al-Bukhari (Bab - Jewar of Abu Bakr during the time of the Prophet) reported that (Aisha) said: I have never thought of my parents except when they are professing the religion, and not a day passes for us without the Messenger of God coming to us both ends of the day in the morning and the evening, and when the Muslims were afflicted, Abu Bakr went out, migrating toward Abyssinia).
Then (Aisha) says that she did not understand her parents except when they were religiously professed, and that before the migration of Abyssinia as I mentioned, and she Said that the Prophet used to come to their home every day, which shows that she was rational for these visits, and what is certain is that the migration of Abyssinia was unanimous among the history books in the year (5) From the beginning of the Prophet’s mission, which corresponds to the year (615 AD),
The narration that was mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari, which indicates events that occurred before the fourth year of the mission and that Aisha (MOB) narrated, indicates that Aisha was present before the fourth year of the mission started, and not only existed, but she was at the height of her awareness and understanding, enabling her to narrate the events of a story that occurred In this way and this means: If we assume that Aisha (Mother of the believers) was at least 5 to 7 years old before the fourth year of the mission, as it's realisticly and practicly impossible. This means that her age when the Messenger Married to her in the second year of the Hijra, cannot be in any way less than 15 to 17 years at least, and this undermines the narration that says that it was 9 years old from its roots!
🔴 3) Her previous Marriage before the Messenger of God Almighty to Jabir bin Mut`im. (Was a Marriage and not just an engagement).
And this is one of the largest evidences out there, which confirm maturity without any doubt.
From reviewing the evidence of Abbas Al-Akkad, the evidence that he is more likely to say that Aisha’s age at the time of her wedding to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was not less than fifteen years at least.
Based on this extensive research of Al-Akkad is certain that the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family) married to Aisha when she had reached a woman age, and she was seventeen at the time of marriage at the very least. And not that she was at that time a girl of six or nine, playing with swings, as claimed in hadiths atributed to her.
As for the claim that Aysha (MOB) had never been married before the marriage to the messenger, is also one of the well-known lies.
She had previously married Jubayr ibn Muta`im, then divorced, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, married her.
This is exactly what Ibn Saad narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Malika: “The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, when he spoke about Aisha, said Abu Bakr: I was given her to Mut'im for his son Jubayr, so let me save her from them, so he took her away from them as he divorced her, eventually the Messenger of God, may God bless him, married her. ” (Al-Tabaqat al-Kubra by Ibn Saad, c.7, p. 59).
Facts: Many hadiths show that Umm Jubayr rejected the mother of the believers, by saying to Abu Bakr (Do you want my son to accept Islam as your daughter did), meaning Aysha became Muslim.
This indicates that Aisha, the mother of the believers, was an adult and mature and took the decision of Islam as an adult, and this is in Mecca.
If we believe that her marriage to the Prophet was 9 years, then that means that she was married to Jubayr while she was a baby, and this is not acceptable to even think of.
Also, her mother, the wife of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq - may God be pleased with her - saw that her daughter had grown up when her engagement was annulled (the truth is her divorce from Jubayr bin Mut'im bin Uday), and when she learned that the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - had mentioned her for Engagement to himself, she said to Abu Bakr - be pleased God on him -: (This is your daughter Aisha, Allah had moved Jubayr and his family out of her way, so push her to the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - so you may receive goodness and blessing)
▪︎The mother the best to know the signs of her daughter readiness for marriage and signs of her femininity.
So what is certain is that Aisha had been married and given to her husband, then she was surrendered and divorced from him, and this also confirms that she had reached the age of readiness at that time of her marriage, not that she was a child.
Note: as for whether she was a virgin in this marriage? The Hadeeth is silent about explaining that either way. Our strong beliefs that she wasn't a Virgin, as the narration is sensed, as it confirms that Abu Bakr had “given” her by her husband in marriage.
Ibn Saad narrated in Tabaqah (8: 09) on the authority of Abdullah bin Malikah who said the speeches of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace) Aisha bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq. He said: I had given her Mut'im for his son Jubayr, so let me until I save/drove her from them, so he took her away from them and Jubayr divorced her, so the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) married her. End.
And Muhammad ibn Saad is a great hafiz and is a great scholar who is approved by the Sunni scholars unanimous- (see: Tadhkira al-Hafiz by al-Dhahabi) 2: 425.

1. The Patriarch of Monotheism, Abraham, who at the same time is the ancestor of both Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all), according to modern sensibilities, abandoned his slave girl in the desert, along with her child.
2. Abraham's son Isaac, a great prophet, who is the ancestor of Jesus and the ancient Jewish people, was 40 years of age when he married Rebekah, who was only 3 years of age.
3. Solomon, who is considered to be the wisest man of all time, according to the Bible, had ~1000 wives and concubines.
4. Joseph according to some dubious yet ancient Christian sources, is said to have been 90 when he married Mary, the mother of Jesus, who was 12-15. Mary is also considered to have been at around 14 when she became pregnant with Jesus.
The point is, think more about these topics. They are not as nearly as controversial as they appear to be, at first glance.

I do know that women and girls married earlier and had children earlier. This was completely the norm at the time. And what the Prophet did for Aisha no doubt saved her life and was a good thing given the times they lived in. But my question was really around the point that Gods word should not and cannot be changed. God is eternal and knows the future as he has made a plan for us. Yet if a man in his 50s today wanted to marry our 6 year old daughter or niece we would never allow it. We would view the sexual relationship between a 9 or 10 year old girl and a man close to 60 as immoral by todays standards no matter the good intentions behind it. Does this mean that we are more moral than God? Surely not. My cousin shares the name Aisha. I always thought it was such a beautiful name and its so nice to know its origins. But I could never imagine a scenario where she would at 10 years old be intimate with a man almost 50 years her senior.

In actual fact I would say a 6 year old girl in today's world is more educated and "intellectual" than a child of this time and place. And i hope we agree that no child should know of direct sexual activity at the age of 10.
@@murodch I'd disagree with you. Education isn't the only thing for maturity. People in their teens in the past used to hunt and be "man enough" to take care of their families rather than being taken care of. In fact we have various accounts of men becoming kings, generals etc in their teens. Alexander the Great and Mehmed II conquered lands when they were 20-ish. 20 year olds today struggle getting their life together. I'd assume it would be similar for women
Anyway the thing in Islam as Adnan Rashid I think mentioned is men and women are ready for marriage when they're physically and mentally mature. This is judged by their parents. So there is *no min* age for marriage as such. Other thing is as mentioned by Omar Soleiman, she actually loved him and was jealous when he'd be with one of his other wives. There are various narrations about this. So she wasn't being abused as people think so.
Finally, we look at stuff from today's lens which is wrong. No one would say a 9 year old is ok to have sex with now.

I think Muslims should stop justifying that he married a child because it defies logic and is a slander. There are many hadees that says she was either 18,19 or 21. Why ppl go with the idea that he married a child? Is a mystery to me. Maybe because some ppl to this day use this in Middle East to justify marrying children. This has to stop.

As a muslim I agree, this is dodging. There is tons of evidence that prove she was at least 15 or 15. She was even engaged to get married to a guy before her father converted to Islam and cacelled the marriage. She was also very cunning for a six year old, and pretty tall and strong for a six year old too, to be able to go into battle. I don't understand why they don't refute it because it is very easy to prove she wasn't.
