Being a good uke is under appreciated. Hard to drill when the uke is resisting or being a noodle.

This video deserves more views. I’ve just joined a group that does regular uchikomi only sessions in a London park at 6:30 am. These concepts are gold.

Thank you I love judo but I am fairly certain me and my friends get low grade brain damage from falling so hard. It’s some throws seem to take a lot of reps to get the subtle balance a few seem to demand you go completely through with the throw but when me and my friends drill like that we don’t seem to get more than six or seven falls before we’re in this weird euphoric head and body ache which doesn’t seem healthy long term. It’s extremely enlivening in the moment but it’s pretty clear it’s what happens when you’re brain getting worked.
So I wanna transition to do more simple loading and resetting but when your new you don’t have as much faith in what you’re doing so there’s a real hunger to toss the person to see if your doing it right. There’s a really incredible throw that I love where you do the look at your watch movement where the person should end up behind you but I always end up spinning them horizontally which is incredible but I’m clearly not understanding something at the end of the move where you move your hands one over the other while sweeping and turning around and it all happens in a split second so it feels like I would have to drill this hundreds of times to understand and I want my friends to remember their names in ten years so what do you do about those third phase adjustments. Or are those sort of throws more for show and I shouldn’t bother?
