Not gonna lie I miss read the title as three person uchi-mata and was really confused about how he was going to get a third person involved in the throw.

Yep I follow his channel a lot - my 2021 request would be “set ups/feint/combos” for take downs. Nothing too fancy, more on the basic side. A several video series would be super useful, maybe with links to it done in competition.

This is really cool. It helps to preserve your training partners because being thrown sucks lol.

We have always called these "power uchikomi". When we trained with a 2x Olympian, he needed TWO guys as anchors, and would sometimes throw all three!

What of for tai otoshi sensei

To do this with taiotoshi, you must keep several things in mind. First, your hikite MUST stay up and out in the pulling action, in the proverbial "checking the watch" position. The exertion of this type of uchikomi makes it difficult to keep your hikite in proper position, but this is critical if you want to develop good technique. If you drop your hikite down to your waist or bring it tight across your chest, you turn taiotoshi from a te waza into a poor koshi waza or an even worse ashi waza. Second, the elbow of your tsurite needs to be out and away from your body to guide uke around your body and over your leg. If you collapse the arm of your tsurite close to your body (as in a position similar to morote seoinage), you again convert the te waza into something else. Lastly, you need to turn your head in the direction of the throw rather than keeping it looking straight ahead or worse, looking back at uke.

I've done this before on forward throws but will have to play with the ushiro techniques. Well, when we get back to phase 3, maybe in Jan.
