Please consider making a dvd on uchikomi drills. I have most of the your dvds . They are amazing and helped me so much. Thanks

Thanks again Travis! I really like these videos where you talk about the theory behind good practice and how you can better improve your own practice so thank you!

Awesome insight here Travis. I was never taught to pull uke over to their foot like you demonstrated here. I wad always told to off balance by pulling up, and over to get them off their heels.

Yeah it's an old way of thinking. I think the level of judo has risen and the coaching needs to rise with it!

Uchikomi is basic Judo traning. Good Uchikomi will be good throw. But also teach body, power and speed.

Thank you so much for this video. This knowledge is so valuable! I can't begin to tell you how many times Ive seen terrible bjj coaches try and run uchikomi drills without proper understanding not ability to teach it. They just yell GO GO GO

I would break balance, then as I turn for the throw I would lose the balance and make it more difficult to actually throw. Now I take time the break balance and keep the balance there it really works using a grappling dummy or stretch bands!

Great stuff! I find that my students often block the forward progress of their uke with their own body. Going to share this with everyone.

You just validated what i found. I was taught to pull straight forward and it never felt right. I found when I "twist" uke as you show it, my entry is a lot better and it feels so much smoother... But i'm not curling my torso as you show. Would your uchi komi for seoi nage be the same??? GREAT INFO!!!

No my Uchikomi for both Ippon and Marote would be different than that.

How to do it with rubber bands perfect?

Quick question thoughts on hooking bands to the heavy bag to simulate the weight of a body as you enter
