- For Fire Emblem's 30th Anniversary, we retranslated the lyrics to the original Fire Emblem Opera written for the commercials for Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light on the NES. The goal was to make something that was functional in English (that is, something that can be sung in time with the music the same as the original) while being accurate to the Japanese lyrics. Enjoy.

I was able to sleep until I started playing in maddening. Let’s just say they don’t call it maddening because just because it’s more difficult 😉🥲
I played Three Houses for 36 hours in one weekend once. They really weren't kidding. There was another weekend where I spent about 20 hours playing Three Hopes as well, and another when I spent close to that playing Awakening.

Jacob Heward well I mean good enough for me. Because for one thing the Super Smash Bros Brawl version of it is also different versions of the lyrics. I mean the original commercial version was in Japanese and the Brawl version of it was in Latin.
heh, even back then, they were advising not to rely too heavily on Jagen.
A lot of series staple philosophies seem to be at play in that song. Not using Jagen, avoiding unit death.... while they may not have quite known what to make of Fire Emblem yet, the series certainly kept to the original foundation in a lot of ways.
Which is actually a bad advice. Jagen are there to be used.

I'm glad Awakening saved this series. Otherwise we wouldn't have seen Three Houses nor seen this series reach its 30 years.

I always knew that these games were created in Japan with earlier releases never released outside of it, but this looks more like ancient British or other European country warfare than anything Japanese. The only game in the series to have looked like it took place in Japan was FE Fates.
That's the whole point. It focuses on European warfare. Outside of fates most of the traveling swordsmen and women, especially those originating from a tribe, have more of a Japanese fighting style/ aesthetic. It's brilliant how they work with it
There's also Chon'sin in Awakening, which is a very east asian inspired country, but theres only like, three important characters from there in the game lol
But only the Hoshido part, Nohr is more like goth arquitechture
it's cultural, Japanese are OBSESSED with European warfare.

I've been playing Fire Emblem since Nintendo finally released The Blazing Blade as just Fire Emblem in the U.S. and it is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises and that particular game is one of my favorites in the series. If Awakening hadn't sold as well as it had, we wouldn't have eventually gotten Three Houses or Warriors and Heroes and in the near future Three Hopes. Maybe someday they'll give the Echoes treatment to the Jugdral saga and The Binding Blade, maybe there'll be more spin-off games, maybe this, maybe that, point is, Fire Emblem lives on.

It took me until today to realize that every time the video says "Fire Emblem", it shows a Fire Emblem on screen.
It started with Marth, and it was revived with Chrome, Lucina, and Robin. The Fire Emblem will never be extinguish.
And yet they felt right at home at the Kingdom of Askr.
I just love how the lyrics are helpful tips any Fire Emblem player should know before playing.
it's not practical in the newer Fire Emblem because you can switch the classes, plus there's no permanent death to the units unlike Fire Emblem made before Awakening.

It would’ve been cool if Nintendo celebrated the franchise’s 30th anniversary with a super bowl commercial. Similar to how the 20th anniversary of Pokémon was celebrated with a super bowl commercial.

@@mariapolternest7993 It will be the 31st anniversary next year, the 30th Anniversary was this year. In April for the literal anniversary date they did the Young Archaneans from FE11 in Heroes

There are questions whether Fire Emblem Heroes should be part of the Fire Emblem canon or seen as non-canon because of the crossover of characters from the games.
I compare it to Kingdom Hearts. The reason KH barely features FF characters anymore is because its own cast is already big enough. Heroes has its own story and cast, the characters from other games are mostly an afterthought to the plot now.

Funny the only 3H clip here was Empire charging towards the Monastery. Such a contrast to the song's grandious and victorious in feel
There was supposed to be a few other 3H clips, Edelgard killing Solon near the end of Part 1 was supposed to be part of the series of clips showing the lords killing antagonists like with Nergal and Fomortiis for example, but there was a lot of trouble getting switch footage. The guy in charge of editing had to give up on most of it as the anniversary was approaching as the team set out with the intention to premiere it at midnight on the anniversary, and he had to edit around the gaps that were intended for 3H clips as a result because the deadline was creeping up and he couldn’t get Switch footage.

...in the ending why did edelgard come before marth?
The ending shows the lords of the various games going from most recent to oldest, so it starts with Edelgard for three houses (she represents that game since IS pushes her to the forefront most often in regards to 3H compared to the other two lords) and then counts down in a sense all the way to Marth, first in the DS remakes and then later for Mystery of the Emblem and then Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light.

I get it. As a staunch and loyal Deer myself, this hurt a little bit, but everything that IS has done seems to push for her being the primary lord other than Byleth.
In the FEH official 30th anniversary video, they also showed her as the main lord from 3H
The Arvis connection was definitley purposeful. Especially with her other title in mind
This is why I don't like her marketing. It was favoritism because they know she'll have a more player base as she is a "waifu" so they capitalize on the fact that she's a girl. They even admitted it! I almost got roped into her hype but because there were so many people choosing her, I choose to do someone else.
They also do this with Lyn in Heroes compared to Hector & Eliwood, heck they've done this to the extreme with Camilla compared to...everyone else in the FE universe
@My Thoughts Exactly Honestly, it’s moreso favoritism purely because they want to push the avatar’s route (Silver Snow) and likely because the game was originally pitched with only the Silver Snow and Crimson Flower routes when the concept of 3H was first pitched back in 2014-ish according to interviews, and Azure Moon came later with Verdant Wind being the last of the four routes conceptualized according to what can be gleaned by ingame file creation dates.
With Lyn, they have literally ALWAYS put her before Eliwood and Hector as far back as FE7’s release, it’s not a heroes thing. She was the only lord from FE7 to get lord dlc in Awakening, and both the US and Japanese box blurbs for FE7 don’t even mention Eliwood or Hector; the plot synopsis that the back of the game box gave you for FE7 was “you have to help Lyn defeat Lundgren” and basically advertising the Lyn mode story and hinting that it’s “only the beginning”, same as the plot description on the CYL Heroes site much later. Not to mention Lyn is an assist trophy in Brawl/4/Ultimate in smash and said to be the main character of Blazing Blade in her Brawl trophy. It’s like how FE10 just straight up ignored that Ike was in the game for a while and used Micaiah instead, except Blazing Blade never transitioned to focusing on “Ike” (Eliwood) and largely ignoring “Micaiah” (Lyn) like Radiant Dawn did.
