@@bearsonwelles3407 I agree, but to pass off what he did as a character flaw is simply just cope. @@randalthor2859 This is true. Personally, I wish more positive encounters would get posted. I am not sure how often they occur. I hope it's just that people don't click on them so they seldom get posted. I've have only had one police encounter in which I was treated worse than I deserved. But I am not naive enough to think that one officer who lied under oath is the only bad cop, or that he represent every cop. The truth, I expect is somewhere in between. But the lack of transparency by police and the lack of consequences for their bad behavior must inevitably lead to increasing levels and frequency of illegal actions by police. A job with power and authority, but little oversight and accountability, both encourages people to do things the easy but illegal way, and also entices those seeking such freedom of action to apply.

I told the officers to call the city attorney because what they were about to do was unlawful and that their qualified immunity would not hold up because they have the opportunity to verify. “The vitality of civil and political institutions in our society depends on free discussion… it is only through free debate and free exchange of ideas that government remains responsive to the will of the people and peaceful change is effected. The right to speak freely and to promote diversity of ideas and programs is therefore one of the chief distinctions that sets us apart from totalitarian regimes. Accordingly a function of free speech under our system of government is to invite dispute. It may indeed best serve its high purpose when it induces a condition of unrest, creates dissatisfaction with conditions as they are, or even stirs people to anger. Speech is often provocative and challenging. It may strike at prejudices and preconceptions and have profound unsettling effects as it presses for acceptance of an idea… That is why freedom of speech, though not absolute… is nevertheless protected against censorship or punishment, unless shown likely to produce a clear and present danger of a serious substantive evil that rises FAR ABOVE public inconvenience, annoyance, or unrest.” ❤

The opinion from TERMINIELLO v. CITY OF CHICAGO was beautifully written. It should be posted in all government agencies, in every single department.

I've to agree with this. He was being pretty annoying at the beginning and it seemed less like they want him to stop recording and more like he just proved to be a nuisance over nothing
regardless, doesn't take away the fact he has a right to film. Yes, a little annoying and childish (could be interpreted as a mental illness), but nothing was threatening to the staff, they need to understand this instead of getting defensive over it. Big props to the sheriff for handling it in the right manner. Im not a massive fan of auditors in general, but im also highly against those who believe they are above the law, or prevent someone from doing what they are legally allowed to do
Nah dude was annoying as fuck. He knew he was being a tool and hoped for them to react. Hold the cops to high standards, but don’t be a scum bag because this ain’t it
They just closed the door, they didn't lock it or attempt to deny him entry. Feels like he was making something out of nothing
Yall are soft. Bunch of bootlickers
The sheriff and chief were amazing. Loved that they knew his rights and protected them.
And yet absolutely nothing will happen to the idiot that pushed the panic button endangering the lives of the citizens, the police, and the firemen.
Why did it endanger all those lives?
Aside from being spoken to about it? Correct. I mean... you looking for the person to go to prison? lol...
@@MothKeeper Don't ask questions these people won't know how to answer haha... they just want to write their nonsense without thinking
@Mothkeeper Easy answer for that. They came lights and sirens on. So endangering citizens possibly on the roadway to an assumed emergency situation. If the two responder were more of the hostile side, like the lady at the beginning, also potentially endangering the camera man.
@@JustMe-fo4ev Yep just look at the posters picture 🤣🤣🤣
About the door, Lady coulda said, "You missunderstand, I shut the door behind you, not on you..." like it wasn't even locked.
Agreed, but it is awkward when you're immediately put on the defensive by someone telling you what you're doing and why.
They basically did. The auditor needlessly refused to let it go.
@@hbk314completely agreed. He was being argumentative constantly because he wouldn't let it go about the door. It's almost as if he WANTED to have drama, but didn't want to expose it explicitly.
Yeah, I felt that way too.

Yeah he doesn't seem to respect the fact that many of these people have real jobs to do even if what he was doing was legal

same difference . She allowed him to do what he had the right to do without further interference and engaged in polite dialogue about the building
Something locals should be happy about and proud to discuss.
Right? Honestly she was too egotistical and embarrassed to be professional about it. She should have admitted her mistake, apologized and thank them for teaching her what she should have already known.

Physically cringed at the whole door situation
He was clearly looking for a reaction. But being a dbag is legal.
Law trumps feelings. That sums it up.
to be fair, the camera dude was being argumentative about everything.. "You shut the door on me" meanwhile he's talking non stop. I don't blame people for closing their doors so they can do their work in peace.
It's litterally their job to talk to the public as needed. There is no "fair" here, they where 100% in the wrong, just because someone asks a question doesn't mean you get to lock them out or kick them out of a public area.
His question had no value but to cause argument they answered the question but he kept pushing. Id personally just ignore him at that point @NewToCool74

it isn't illegal for him to do it, theyre the ridiculous ones for calling cops

That's somewhat a small portion of what an auditor is supposed to do. That is using speech to try and get employees of the government to use emotion instead of rationality. Which at the end of the day is a great thing. They put on full display those who cannot operate on a professional level and let emotions cloud their judgement. Basically without auditors cops, and gov officials would retain the bad apples.

‘We’re big constitutionalists’ I loved that so much
Good job sheriff. Thank you for following the constitution.
Someone pressed the panic button ........over that????? That person needs to be charged with being a public nuisance. Pretty clear example of malicious "swatting". Top marks to the Chief of Police, who deserves full respect for being professional and understanding of the law.

This is one of the best audits I’ve ever seen. Kudos to the chief and the sheriff. This is what it’s all about people having access to exercise the first amendment rights.
