Probably why the sherriff wants to tell the courthouse employees to not do that. You really shouldnt cry wolf at a courthouse using a panic button, those are used and generally assumed that something so bad has gone on that a traditional call to law enforcement wasnt an option.

      In EMS for 28 years.
When we " push the panic button" and call for police aid, we routinely wait 10-40 minutes for 1-2 officers.
Maybe we should tell them we have a " guy with a camera".
Now, I primarily work in a semi rural area , and the officers are typically professional, but, we never get this much of a response.

And that's what we need everyone to remember is that we vote for the govt we get at the local level. Voting for a good sheriff or a good mayor who hires a good chief of police can what kind of law enforcement you get in your area. Our state legislators did a lot of these things but until they do our best bet for good law enforcement is the local voting booth and who we vote for can decide what kind of law enforcement officers we get. We have an issue with what happens when officers mess up but the best defense against that is to have law enforcement officers who don't mess up in the first place and that's decided by who leads them.

If he is there for an audit, it would be disingenuous to simply comply to everything and be completely in the ordinary, and expect the clandestine behavior to expose itself. Sometimes you have to prod at things that seem odd. Other less-than-fit officials would have been completely unhinged in an uncomfortable confrontation like that one. It seems likely that the man's initial statement about not causing trouble may not have been entirely truthful, especially considering his later argumentative behavior. If the individual in question appeared argumentative, it could impact the effectiveness of the audit process by creating unnecessary tension. Maintaining professionalism and constructive dialogue is key to ensuring audits proceed smoothly and achieve their intended goals of transparency and accountability.

@@randalthor2859 This is true. Personally, I wish more positive encounters would get posted. I am not sure how often they occur. We see it when things go sideways, but do we see negative interactions almost exclusively because they are most common, or because of the way TH-cam algorithms and culture work? I hope it's just that people don't click on them so they seldom get posted. I've have only had one police encounter in which I was treated worse than I deserved. But I am not naive enough to think that one officer who lied under oath is the only bad cop, or that he represent every cop. The truth, I expect is somewhere in between. But the lack of transparency by police and the lack of consequences for their bad behavior must inevitably lead to increasing levels and frequency of illegal actions by police. A job with power and authority, but little oversight and accountability, both encourages people to do things the easy but illegal way, and also entices those seeking such freedom of action to apply.

The right to speak freely and to promote diversity of ideas and programs is therefore one of the chief distinctions that sets us apart from totalitarian regimes.
Accordingly a function of free speech under our system of government is to invite dispute. It may indeed best serve its high purpose when it induces a condition of unrest, creates dissatisfaction with conditions as they are, or even stirs people to anger. Speech is often provocative and challenging. It may strike at prejudices and preconceptions and have profound unsettling effects as it presses for acceptance of an idea… That is why freedom of speech, though not absolute… is nevertheless protected against censorship or punishment, unless shown likely to produce a clear and present danger of a serious substantive evil that rises FAR ABOVE public inconvenience, annoyance, or unrest.” ❤

Would you tell those girls, "Hey, ignore your gut feelings about threats and leave yourself vulnerable to weirdos because what they're doing in that moment is technically legal." I wouldn't.

Not really. He was being mildly annoying. You must never have worked in public service. This was mild as mild can mild. Most fast food workers put up with worse on a daily basis than these snowflakes did here. I work in EMS and this wouldn't even show up on my radar as a " bad " encounter with the public. Well, not until the idiot pushed the panic button.

That sheriff and chief handled this extremely well. Best I've seen on TH-cam. Must respect for these two men.

WTF? No Beatings, no cuffs, no ride - NO egregious violation of constitutional protected activities? Rare fruit indeed.
THIS video SHOULD be mandatory viewing for ALL LE chiefs / department heads, court bailiffs, security staff, etc.
A finer example of How To and NOT How To react in a given situation - I have not seen in the many hundreds of examples viewed to date.
Thank you for exposing / presenting this beyond those who subscribe to TRP channel. Hopefully it will get shared with those who really need to see it - as described above.

I really enjoy your totally unbiased take on these situations. I think "auditing" is a bit silly but heh, they're not hurting anyone and a person without a hobby is a dull person. You do an incredible educational service to the internet community and highlight good and bad on all sides of each interaction.
