That would be the "good ending". Chances are, that the officer would have pulled a weapon, believing the driver to be "dangerous" because of evading the traffic stop and used force, probadly a takedown or a taser, when said driver didn't *immidietly* comply with orders. This would have gone very ugly for a "normal" citizen. Anyone but her would have needed medical attention and then gone to jail. That sergeant is a total coward. "I'm not going to get involved in your traffic stop"= "you're on your own here man, I'm not backing you up." You call supervisors for assistance and guidance, not to have them totally opt out of helping you come to a resolution. He was terrified of her, which given her conduct is probably not without cause. I'm sure she has a well known rep for abusing her power at every turn if this is how she acts over a simple traffic stop.
This highlights the inescapable problem of what is the right thing to do and what is the right thing to do for your career. It's a similar issue to those who won't call out fellow officer corruption for fear of being an outcast in your own force. I'm not sure exactly how we solve it.
The worst part of this is that she basically said that since she is the District Attorney that no matter what they get her for that she will just drop the case once it goes to court, effectively she is under the idea that she can drive wherever & however she ever feels like because she is untouchable.... That's why I am so happy that channels like this make sure to show off people like her.
BUT . . . after claiming that she didn't know he was behind her, she also admitted that she was on the phone with his chief telling the chief to get his officer to leave her alone.
Wow! The cop handled her with kid gloves, no taser, no pepper spray, nothing, and she was not complying at all, the level of entitlement with her was just breathtaking.
This wouldn't be a problem if this cop treated everyone like this. We don't know if that's the case, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume that's what he does. But if so, he's very much in the minority and most cops would treat the driver in this situation much worse. Particularly if the driver was black.
I saw this somewhere else a few weeks ago. She should have been arrested and she definitely needs to resign her position. She's no better than anyone else
At time 7:49 she fully admits that she new the officer was behind her trying to pull her over. This contradicts her earlier statement that she didn't know he was behind here with lights and siren. No - you are wrong. A cop has discretion. Applying it well is the thing to do. The supervisor needs to say: 'apply the discretion' you think is right. That is the cops job, that is the supervisors job. Supervisor was cool.

No amount of training at this late age and stage of her career will help.
"I'm the one who prosecutes speeding tickets!" I could be wrong, but I don't think she could throw her own ticket out in court. But then again, its New York. Her audacity exposes the "us vs them" mentality that so many elected officials seem to have.
Yeah, I think it would be extremely odd for a DA to actually be involved at any level for a minor traffic offense besides it technically coming from her office. Obviously this lady is completely divorced from the reality of normal citizens, but even still, it would be odd for any DA to choose not to prosecute a routine traffic offense, let alone her own case.
@@sampleowner6677 As a legal technicality that's correct but there is a way to get her out of office. "a prosecutor who violates ethical rules is subject to the disciplining authority of the State Bar like any other attorney." State ex rel. Eidson v. Edwards, 793 S.W.2d 1 (Tx. 1990)
@@ryh5169eh having the DA as elected officials definitely isn’t the problem. The problem is citizens aren’t willing to oust public officials nearly often enough.

You know it’s some bullshit when there’s literally a video playbook of her abusing her position to take special privileges that would have resulted in any other citizen being arrested or worse. This video ending in ANY way other than her being referred to as the “Former District Attorney” is about as clear an indicator as you could possibly ever see of abuse of power and favoritism. I understand why you gave the officer a C+, but that’s a damn tough decision to make when there’s a good probability that your career in that city is gonna be over. The other “F” that needs to be handed out is to his supervisor who just tossed the hand grenade back to him and got tf out of dodge with the quickness. F you, DA and Monroe County, NY.
One set of rules for people like her, and another set of rules for us. Remember when the lady didn’t immediately pull over in Arkansas and the cop did a pit maneuver and flipped her car over? But somehow, the cop lets this DA just get out her car, walk around, scold them, do whatever she wants.
To be fair, this cop did his job the way it is supposed to be done. The Arkansas cop was a psycho. Now, whether this cop would act this cordial if it were NOT a DA would be interesting to see. But the fact that he even continued on with the stop knowing who she was makes me think he may be one of the few decent cops.
I think she underestimates how big these cop watching sites like lackluster and civil rights lawyer are getting and making these bodycams go viral now. Think about what happened before bodycams were around. Yikes.
Yes I saw that the civil rights lawyer one on the high school girl getting pulled out her car, ended up going viral because of the lawyers TH-cam and the cop got fired as a result. It’s definitely having an impact and we needed it
I was very disappointed by the actions of the supervisor who attended. He told the officer to “It’s your stop. I’m not going to interfere with that”. That’s horrendous. The supervisor was there, as a senior officer, to take charge. By refusing to step up and make the call, he is basically throwing his officer under the bus. What he is in effect doing is saying “I’m not putting my job on the line over this. You do what you think is right, and if it all goes belly-up, then it’s your job on the line, not mine, as I refuse to make a decision. I’m just going to pretend that I’m not here”. WTF? That’s why you were called to the scene in the first place. It’s the supervisor who should have demanded both the speeding ticket, and the failure to stop charge. You get paid the big bucks to make these big decisions. It’s completely unfair to blame the officer for not issuing the failure to stop notice. The officer knew damn well by that time that his supervisor did not have his back in any way, and had completely hung him out to dry.
@@AA-BB I never said he was stoping him from doing what he wanted. In fact I specifically stated that the told the officer to make his own decision. But that’s the entire reason he was called to the scene - to make that decision himself. The supervisor is a coward, who was more concerned about protecting his own job than backing up his officer.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. The interesting thing is the DA exposed herself to an investigation on her because if she handled a simple speeding ticket this way, what is she doing in the courtroom? When it comes to other people, she feels she’s above them, and that she is exempt from being charged being responsible for herself. Totally disgusting. She needs to resign immediately and save what little face she has left.
Everything she does, and everything she says is telling the audience that the rules do not apply to her. She is above the law, and how dare you try to apply the law to her. That lady needs to be fired in charged to the highest amount.
I think the officer should have received a “B-“ . Ofc Crisafulli kept saying “it’s an arrestable offense” MANY times to other officers and 2 command officers. I believe he did want to arrest her and was looking for guidance and support and the only guidance he received was “it’s your traffic stop do what you want” from the Sgt and “What’s the ticket what are you going to do?” Then proceeds to check his phone and not actually listen. I personally believe if he had 100% support from his command officers to arrest her, he would have but, that’s just my opinion.
You are absolutely correct! You could hear it in his voice as well. Part of a supervisors job is sometimes to tell a subordinate what to do in a given situation. The SGTs answer should have been "You're absolutely right go arrest her and I will back you up.
A lot are commenting that the supervisor that said they aren't going to tell him what to do is not good leadership and I would argue otherwise. This would actually be a perfect test of leadership by empowering him to make his own decision on the stop. Once he does, instead of, in the future, doing the same thing (calling on for help because the person he is arresting has "more power") he will now feel empowered to handle the situation as is required of him as his job rather than looking at it from a "power" standpoint. If he makes the wrong choice, it likely goes around in circles and they eventually get an explanation of what to do in this circumstance. And this is actually the perfect situation for him to be empowered to handle it himself as it is non-urgent and non-violent.
A C is a harsh score for the police officer. I would give him a B. He did stand up to her rather than say "Oh your the DA, have a nice day I'll be on my way". Which I believe probably happens more often than not. Try putting yourself in the officers shoes. Arresting the DA would probably be a career limiting move , especially since his boss clearly didn't have his back. What should happen NOW is the police chief should arrest her for failing to stop and have her prosecuted. We all know that won't happen. Nor will she lose her job which she should. You should have graded the supervisor. The supervisor gets an F in my book for doing essentially nothing. You should also have graded some of the other police officers. They went away at the request of the DA to save her embarrassment. The first police officer needed support and witnesses for what could end up happening to the officers had he been prosecuted by the DA in a retaliatory move. The other officers get a D in my book.
The only reason the cop engaged at all was that he didn't know who she was. He basically says as much; "I didn't run your plate" as an explanation how he dared to stop her, implying that if he had run the plate, he wouldn't have stopped her. And then he later apologizes for giving her a ticket.
@@nuclearmedicineman6270 That's one interpretation. Another interpretation is that when she belittled him for pulling over of the DA it put him on the defensive and he let her know it wasn't anything personal, he was just doing his job.
@@nuclearmedicineman6270 However once he found out who it was he could have left but he didn't. Maybe he could have done better but at least he didn't just roll over for her like his Sgt did. I just wish he hadn't reminded his sgt that he was still recording.
First, she says she didn't see or hear the lights. Later, she says she didn't want to stop on the road. As a public official who supposedly holds the highest level of trust and authority, it makes you wonder how often she manipulates circumstances to maliciously prosecute someone she knows is probably innocent. After all, "she doesn't care."
She should have been arrested and at the very least she should be fired. How could the public put any trust in her? This needs followed up on by someone who has authority to do something about it. In the end we all know that she will pay a ticket fine and that is it. I wonder what all she has got away with before this happened. It was like this when I worked for the county 20 years ago but I thought we were past that. SMDH
In Clarke County IA, our deputy sheriff arrested the county attorney in court for being drunk. She was also issued an owi since she drove to court. She was voted out and just a few weeks ago issued her 3rd owi. Michelle Murphy Rivera
On the other side of the coin was a black soldier who didn't stop for police couple of years back, due to not wanting to stop at the side of the road, rather carry on to the well lit service station just down the road. He was detained on the ground, tased and pepper sprayed several times.
This cop is part of the problem too. Slapping corrupt people on the hand instead of prosecuting them to the full extent of the law like they do to regular citizens
The officer seemed to imply that had he run her plates, the outcome would have been different. His colleagues also didn’t want to have a part of this saying “It’s your traffic stop.”
Tbh I can't say I blame the dude. Yes, it is important to hold people accountable, but this dude is doing a job.. and with someone admitting openly that they are corrupt, I honestly don't know how I would have reacted. For all he knew, it could've been swept under the rug and hed be flipping burgers in a few days and nothing would have changed.
This is a classic case of "rules for thee, not for me." Wish the officer made an example out of her and arrested her because if any citizen did what she did, they would have been in cups within seconds being that argumentative with the police officer conducting a legitimate traffic stop. This is why people have such differing views on law enforcement because when it is somebody that has authority that disobeys the law, they get a pass. New York is about as corrupt as they come, this coming from a New York resident. Only reason she pled guilty to the ticket is because she knew what she said and the fact that it's captured on camera. If she managed to get it thrown out, people would throw a fit
Veteran and former LEO here: this is a prime example of arresting to teach a lesson, no one is above the law, ofc was well within his rights to arrest her and should have. When I was in service, I once wrote a Colonel a ticket for talking on his cell phone and driving. Didn't matter how mad he got at me or how much he screamed or threatened me, I had a job to do (my Sgt forced me to do this my first week because he knew what would happen). Wrote him the ticket, saluted, and told him to have a good day knowing he had to go to the base commander and explain why he wasn't following the new orders he'd gotten in an Air Force-wide memo a mere week before. Sucks to suck but this officer had a job to do and he failed epically.
The difference is your Sgt did his job and told you what to do. He didn't just leave you to founder is a sew of uncertainty. Sometimes that's what a superior has to do. THIS Sgt just held up his hands and said "Yo dude its up to you I aint getting into this".
She was a fleeing suspect that wanted to secretly remove the drugs from her purse or in her pockets. Anyone else would have been arrested on the spot, tased, beaten, and charged with felonies.

That sergeant is a total coward. "I'm not going to get involved in your traffic stop"= "you're on your own here man, I'm not backing you up." Notice the Sergeant was saying this immediately after the initiating officer stated the body can was still rolling.
