Haha I remember the Will and Kate movie! I was studying at St Andrews at the time and we a had a showing in one of the halls of residence where everyone came along to heckle and riff on the film. Superb stuff!
It sounds like it will appeal to the kind of people who sainted Diana, apart from the fact that those kind of people will probably think it is thoroughly disrespectful.

Reminds me of the recent JFK tv movie with Greg Kinear and his false teeth!
It has a shockingly low RT% as well, so a lot of critics rubbished it.

I feel so sorry for Naomi Watts. Could have been a really good role for her. It sounds abysmal.
Presumably, she read the script before she signed the contract.
She’s been in a lot of stinkers over the years. I think she likes a supplemental paycheck every now and then

It's got a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment. I don't think that they were the only ones who hated it.
He looks absolutely nothing like Brian Clough though and it was his performance that nailed it in "The Damned United"

I still don't understand why she walked out of the interview.
So you're saying they should of given it overwhelming praise? Why would they lie to their viewers like that? They have to be honest.
You know what, I really liked the movie. Now, I was very young when Diana died and don’t know much about her, but I thought Naomi Watts did a fantastic job, playing her with a certain vulnerability in an overall nuanced performance. I thought it was believable that she would fall in love with that surgeon, I saw what she saw in him and what attracted her to him. Overall, I’d say a wonderful nuanced performance. Not at all boring as this review claims. Clearly, they missed the point of the movie. Unpopular opinion, but here goes.
I gotta see William & Kate now - which for some reason is on my shelf (unopened as yet).

That clip was like something out of East Enders.
Not really, he is mentioning how good she is and the rest of the crew, but the movie is not great.
One critic called it "car crash cinema". Haha.

I wonder if Naomi Watts does a better job of portraying Diana than the actor in The Crown?

"A performance is only as good as the film that it's in." Discuss. I've just seen "A Single Man" on DVD. Firth miles better than film. Must be many other exceptions to prove this rule!
This film ranks amongst mankind's greatest crimes.
It's a shame that this film is getting the bad publicity as I loved films by the director of Das Experiment and Downfall. Also Naomi Watts is a great actress but she doesn't look right as Diana.

I say, the writing in this motion picture is quite atrocious
To be honest I thought it was better then My week with Marilyn, yet that seemed to get more positive reviews. My Week with Marilyn was boring and awkward to watch, while this film was entertaining and had some good acting. Yes the script was cringe worthy at times especially in the first half an hour of the film, however I thought Naomi Watt's performance, the cinematography and the general flow of the film was good. I don't know a lot about Diana's history so I can't really judge that I guess.
The 'treading on eggshells' could be due in part to the fact that this country is very protective of her children, William and Harry, that there is naturally going to be some degree of inherit revulsion to a film that does their mother such a disservice.
In response to his rhetorical question, "Why did they bother to make this", the real answer is of course that they knew this would make money whether it turned out to be good or not.
Its dull
I loved the film and found it really powerful, emotional and a sensitive, sophisticated, touching story about falling in love and the problems of the outside world that can intrude. It was fascinating to see the private lives of humans trapped by fame.
Just listened to this and the Naomi Watts interview again and I gotta give kudos to Simon for sounding as neutral as possible to this... this... urgh words that describe how horrible this was escape me.
Im pretty sure they are not rubbishing her movie because she walked from the interview. The film is just mediocre, simple.

In Mark and Simons defense, the movie has been critically panned by everyone, so maybe the movid is absolutely terrible. And listening to it sounds terrible

I thought it might just be me ,this not really being my kind of film. Good to hear others found it just as boring. If they were going to do this story they should have done it from the doctors point of view ,I found him much more interesting as a charterer anyway.

'Terribly respectful' - so I am guessing that we do not see scenes of her chucking up all her meals and being cheated on by her husband.
